I called ahead a few weeks before our stay and asked for a newly updated room, the hotel staff obliged my request and put us in a room nearby the lobby as I requested as well. Some parts of the room seem to be new and updated but the kitchen area was a little dated but still clean. I was disappointed with the fluffiness of our pillows the first night of our stay so we called the front desk and asked for an extra set. A maid came and knocked on the door and I yelled out, "Just a minute" as I walk... Read more

The Hawthorn Suites was a very average hotel that suited our needs as a place to sleep for a few days as we spent our time at Universal Studios. The size of the rooms was nice, and they included full kitchens, but overall quality was very meh. Paint was chipping, the door to the closet was off the tracks, and silverware/plates provided were not very clean (although dishwasher detergent was available). The air conditioner condensated a lot throughout the day, and we came back to a good chunk of... Read more

I needed to stay near the Orange County Convention Center for my daughter's recital weekend. My husband and the kids checked into the hotel ahead of me. The beds were small for it to be considered a suite. Fast forward to the next day and we discovered an unknown bug in the room and German cockroaches, which my daughter has an allergy to.

The only reason I gave 2 stars was because the staff was so nice. This is not a hotel, this is a old motel! The room smelled stale and the upper room toilet ran constantly. After waking up the first morning with bites all over both ankles, I told the front desk that something was biting me in the bed! I was scared it was bed bugs! hey offered to spray or move me, but I had 3 kids with me and we had purchased food for the kitchen and I didn't want to move all that stuff. Hotel staff was friendly and courteous. Had an issue with the room. We stayed from Sunday thru Saturday. On Thursday morning, woke up and floors were soaked. Contacted staff, and sent gentleman out to look. Brought in industrial fan to dry it up. Friday morning soaked again. Was told room above ours developed a leak, then we were moved. Not so happy we didn't get moved earlier, but it was what it was. I wouldn't say hotel was dated, I say it is what I expected. It is a high 3-star on my scale, i... Read more

Hawthorne Suites on Palm parkway turned out to be the best choice for our Disney vacation. We stayed for 4 nights. Rooms were clean, spacious, with kitchenette which comes handy with small kids. I actually enjoyed my stay especially since I get a great deal on Priceline.. However the room needs some up dating.. cracked sick in the Bathroom, cracked Plate in the Kitchen.. the sofa cushions were so old they couldn't keep me sitting up straight.. I am easy to please and the over all layout of the room is excellent for working and being comfortable. The place just needs some TLC.. I can't complain thought for the price I got.

The carpet, and fabric in the room seemed relatively new, but structurally the property is showing its age. The screens had been removed from the sliding glass "door/window", making it impossible to leave that open when the outside temperatures permitted. The wood on the stairs up to the room was sufficiently sturdy, but obviously pitted with age. The included breakfast was not great, but sufficient for my very basic needs. It offered yogurt cups, a limited variety of whole fresh fruit, basic ... Read more

Nice to have the extra room with a couch, table, and kitchenette (fireplace seemed quite out of place for a Florida hotel). Definitely outdated ('70's decor) and in need of remodeling/renovation rather than just "covering up" to get by (bathroom door was rotting out, messy caulking on top of layers of caulking rather than re-tiling). Appreciated the daily breakfast bar, but very crowded/cramped dining area; breakfast should be extended by an hour to help alleviate some of that; maybe figuring ... Read more

Having a kitchen was very useful, things weren't the nicest/cleanest but I'd say very reasonable for the price. Breakfast was a pretty standard hotel breakfast with lots of hot and cold options. More fruit would have been nice though. We used both the disney and universal shuttles which were very handy. It's important to know that the shuttles only leave once in the morning, and pick up at one time in the evening at universal and there's an early and late shuttle leaving from epcot. So you don't... The hotel and rooms are in major need of remodel and update. The staff told us that they were remodeling, but there was no evidence of this anywhere on the site. The told us the only building that was remodeled was building 1. There are at least 15 buildings on the site. Our room was sufficient to sleep in at night, but the lights were hung crooked, the shower curtain was hanging by a thread as it was not put on properly and was broke, the closet only had one mirrored door as the other door ... The hotel room was smokey/musty. The decor was outdated. The shower was cracking/coming out of the wall. Some of the interior doors were stuck/torn. Staff would clean our room, but forget to replace towels, etc. When they were replaced they had hair or stains on them. Son had spider in his bed. Coach was stained and filthy. The people up stairs would run around in middle of night, or hang on balcony after hours smoking, and arguing. Plus side rooms were near everything.

In theory, this is acute place for afamily. Loft style rooms, fl kitchen, close to stuff. However, thank goodness we were only staying for a day. The upstairs bed was full of hair, someone else's hair. And fake eyelashes on the pillow case. Makes me wonder when the last time they changed the linens. Towels had hair in them.
