Nothing special about this hotel or its location (unless your sole intention is to visit Universal Studios, and presumably any of the other theme parks in the area). The rooms are adequate, though the pillows were not very comfortable. The pool area is rather drab and not at all inviting with many of the pool side loungers sagging (but you make do to savour the sun). The breakfast buffet choices weren't ample, and the set-up just not appetizing. (The Starbucks on the premises provided a better ... Read more

As a loyal Hilton honors member, when I booked my conference stay, I was delighted to book at a Hilton property. Riding in my Uber through the construction zone to this dated property, I feared my stay would not be up to Hilton standards. Boy, was I right. This hotel is in a worn out neighborhood that doesn't give a great impression of safety. The lobby, hallways and common areas give off a 1983-ish feeling of yesteryear. The first thing that hit me when I entered my room was the smell - that 1... Read more

We always stay at Doubletrees when we can and have yet to be disappointed. Who doesn't love warm cookies?!? The room was clean and the bed was super comfortable. Every employee that we have encountered has been really friendly and helpful. After our first night we went down to have the breakfast buffet. It was a little pricy but our server Phillip was outstanding! We were even offered refills & to-go cups for our drinks. They have an AVIS on site if you need to rent a car. The walk to Universa... The first room we were put in smelled legitimately like mildew. It was headache inducing. The second room we were put in was much better, but with a name like Hilton attached to the hotel the room itself was pretty unimpressive. But, considering you're really only in the room to sleep, shower, and change, it served its function. There is a shuttle to take you to and from the hotel to Universal Park, which I definitely recommend. You have to "pre-book" your spot on the shuttle, but it's free. Th... Read more

Recently stayed at this Hotel last weekend for a Convention. Every night when I pulled down my bed sheets, something as stained. Not only stained but it still had "particles" on the sheet, top sheet or Mattress cover. I can understand all stains do not come out but even after complaining, i still found something I would not sleep in. It also seemed as once we were there they (the hotel) forgot about us. No seeing if we were okay. The only restaurant I would suggest in the Cav a something i... Read more

For our 8th Anniversary we decided to have a kid free few days away at Universal/Islands of Adventure! So we started looking for a place close to the entrance and found The Double Tree. They are beginning a renovation and I am sure it will be gorgeous when they are done, but the hotel was nice regardless. The warm cookies at check-in are a nice touch. Upon arrival they asked if it was a special occasion and were given a credit for a free dinner at their restaurant. Rooms were clean, bed comforta... Read more

Stayed at Doubletree for 14 nights over May & June 2016. We booked this as a package through Thomas cook, which I thought was a very good deal and location wise is ideal if you're going to Universal. Check in & out were very good & you get warm cookies when checking in. Very spacious room, which is cleaned and replenished every day. Complimentary bottled water every day + coffee & tea. We stayed here for 2 nights in May '16, rooms were clean, spacious and beds were comfy. Didn't have breakfast or dinner in the hotel as there are a few other places nearby. Miller Ale House is a 5 min walk away, next to Kobe Steakhouse, Starbucks and Golden Corral. We used the shuttle bus to Universal on the first morning but it would have been quicker walking due to the traffic. I was at a conference while my family went to the parks. The location was great but the hotel was average. The helper people were very nice (luggage help, housekeeping, etc.) but some of the guest service people were rude when we asked questions. I expected better from a Doubletree. We didn't get cookies at check in either!!

Stayed here for business for 3 nights. The location is extremely convenient for those going to Universal Studios. The self parking is a little steep ($17). I was given a king room on the 18th floor. Excellent views and very spacious. The room had a very comfortable bed and a huge TV. The free internet was a little slow. This hotel is close to Universal Studios, but I don't consider it to be walking distance, especially after walking at the park all day and then having to walk more than a mile to the hotel. The website says there is a shuttle available, but I never saw one or was told about it, so we drove. I did online check-in with Hilton honors app so I got to choose my room, on the 12th floor. We chose this hotel because of its location and it was perfect for our 2 days of amusement parks! The room was comfortable and clean and the staff was very friendly. One night we got back late from Disney World and the waiter at the hotel restaurant got our order in even though the kitchen was closing - he was very nice.

Overall, the hotel was clean, but that's where I'd leave it. There was no air conditioning in the hallways, presumably as a cost savings measure, but in Florida, unacceptable. Food service at the lunchtime restaurant was extremely slow. Parking isn't included, but the in or out gates were often up so while I paid, I'm guessing many others don't which isn't fair. I've had better stays at lower ranked hotels.

The staff at this location are wonderful! We felt very welcome. Everyone we have encountered so far has greeted us and wished us well. Check in was very smooth and the on-site Avis desk and Universal concierge services are great perks. I was aware of the ongoing renovations while booking, but am disappointed that the Starbucks counter is closed without posted notice on the website. There is a second café option, but we really wanted access to the Starbucks to use our rewards and stay within b... Read more

I only gave it 4 stars because of all the construction going on. The Staff couldn't do enough for us. Emmanuel at the front desk went above and beyond to make our stay memorable from complementary breakfast to chocolate covered strawberries. Everything was perfect for our 38th wedding anniversary. We just might make this our Orlando home away from home.

I stayed at this hotel last week for 4 nights. I went to Universal for 3 days and Sea World once. The location is fantastic and the shuttle service to Universal was great (and free). However, the hotel itself was incredibly worn and dated. I stayed on the 9th floor which was advertised as having a view of the park- I paid extra for this perk. I couldn't see anything except the tops of some of the rides. My room was also directly across from an ice machine and vending. These were so loud through... Read more

We stayed here for 2 weeks on our first vacation to Orlando. The room was lovely beds were extremely comfy and room was kept clean everyday. The reception staff were lovely and very helpful when my parents room was cancelled by the travel agents we booked through. Pool area was great. The hotel is a 5 minute walk to Universal and very easy to get too. Also only a short drive to the other parks. The hotel was perfect for myself and partner especially for travelling to the parks.

We travel a lot and are not that picky. But this Diuble Tree was a dump. The rooms were so cheap and old. The price we paid was not cheap. I have had good luck staying st Double Trees in the past but this place was really unacceptable. Holes in wall. Cheap old furnishings. Could hear couple fighting in adjacent room. Thin walls. My husband wanted to check out and stay at a decent hotel but I didn't want to lose the money. Staff was nice except for salespeople in lobby trying to sell you tickets... Read more

Let me just preface by saying I am currently staying at the hotel at this very minute but will be checking out early and moving to the Hyatt Place across the road. I arrived here and although I had a few issues checking in, staff were really nice so I can't grumble about that. My only issue here is, I'm a Hilton Diamond member and because this room was not booked direct, it's almost as if they washed their hands with that status. Cathy, and the entire front desk staff provided one of the best check in experiences I've ever had. They were very upbeat, professional and treated me like family. I've been to book signings before but nothing like SBC16 that was held at the Doubletree on Major Boulevard in Orlando. This was the best experience I have ever had with meeting authors. The event was so incredibly organized and I never once felt like part of an assembly line being rushed through. SBC will now be an annually scheduled event on my calendar every year. It was amazing.
