My wife and I stayed at this property from 12/20/16 to 12/23/15. The location is awesome right on a canal with a marina. You can fish in the canal where there were were quite a few fish and a few gators. It is adjacent to Everglades National Park and pretty secluded. The room we were assigned overlooked the canal and had a wrap around porch which we enjoyed. The problem we had was that our key cards consistently failed to unlock our room. Each time, we had to get them reprogrammed or get new one... Read more

Port of the Island Resort is located about 15 miles away from civilization towards the Everglades. A great place to stay if you are going to Big Cypress and/or the Everglades. The beds were comfortable, it has a beautiful pool, and a lovely location. The staff was friendly. A great place to "Get Away". They had a nice breakfast bar, but for me, too many carbs. I think it would be better if they had scrambled eggs, biscuits and sausage, gravy (Something hot). There are no soda or snack machine... Read more

We didn't expect to be assigned a newly renovated unit just outside the main building where units around the pool have screened porches and are mostly owner occupied. The moment we opened the arch designed doorway we noticed the room is immaculately clean, walls are painted white, all furnitures and appliances are brand new, even the ironing board still has its cover. The bed is high and firm for our sleep comfort, 47-in (I think) LED TV, full-size ref, 2-burner electric stove, flooring is of la... Read more

No hot water, no breakfast, no one at front desk to complain to at 7:40AM. Waited 1 and a half hours to be served dinner night before. Only place to eat For 20 miles. That ought to sum it up. Otherwise the room was ok. Lobby was full of people with no hot water and waiting on breakfast. Myself and others had trouble with the electronic room key. Must be a speed demon to make it work. One couple arriving late could not get in their room.

Secluded hotel situated in the middle of nowhere. Which is exactly what we needed to visit the mangrove tunnels. Not a lot going on around there, but that's not why you book it. Friendly staff, clean room and very good rates.

Fantastic hotel!!! Nice people- but a big but! We visited the restaurant in the hotel. Got seated at 6.45 pm today. The first waitres was nice and took our orders for drinks. So far so good... at 7.08. I afsked if we could order the food. Same nice waitres took orders. At 8.14 i asked if there was any progress since we had 3 children with us that was very hungry. Another waitress informed us that if we were unsatisfied we could just find a fastfood place since they only made high quality food.... Read more

The hotel is very clean and comfortable. Convenient location for enjoying Everglades tours in Everglades City, Chokoloskee Island and Marco Island. Very friendly and helpful staff. The included breakfast was more than adequate to get us ready for our days of adventure (waffles, bagels, toast, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, cereal, fruit, muffins, etc.). Our kids loved the pool and didn't want to get out. Beds were comfortable. Screened in patios to keep the bugs out. Restaurant was good for lu... Read more

This place grasp you and gives you a huge family hug. We never wanted to leave again but as always with vacations.. they end at some point. The staff and people at Port of the Islands was so amazing and caring. If you can say something is central off everything in Everglades this is the place. There is trips to watch the Everglade just out side the door if you want to go explore. If you just want to relax this place can do that to with a big pool and lots off outdoor space. Do you miss your gum,... Read more

We stopped 3 nights last week, and fell in love with the place. The setting on the water is just delightful, and the resort itself is very well presented with a large inviting swimming pool. The setting is amazingly peaceful. I would describe the rooms as small studios, a small catering area with hob, microwave and fridge, etc.. The room we had was quite sparsely furnished, but was spotlessly clean and adequate. A large shower area and fluffy clean towels. And a comfortable bed. The staf... Read more

Enjoyed a stay there, very relaxed, garden tropical grounds, nice pool and marina, room I had was a studio with full kitchen, I'm heading back mid Dec,2016 for another week. I would recommend, but maybe not for everyone, the hard party bunch may want something closer to the nearby cities.
