This was the perfect place to stay as a "base camp" for our visit to the Everglades. Though the main Everglades visitor center is a pretty long drive away, we preferred to stay here rather than in Homestead. We had a nice room with a screened in porch facing an awesome swimming pool. If we had been here longer, I would have looked into one of the excursions available from the adjoining marina. The room was large, and comfortable. I always miss a bathtub when only showers are provided. We t... Read more

We were only able to stay here for the night. I called ahead to inform the front desk that we wouldn't arrive until 1am due to an airline schedule change. The front desk left us detailed instructions on how to find our room. They even left the light and tv on in our room/bungalow so that we could find our way around. The facilities were very clean and looked really nice, but unfortunately we had to leave early to start an Everglades tour. The receptionist was so friendly and helped us check in a... Read more

Clean rooms and the restaurant food was good. We parked our boat overnight at the marina. Very convenient. The hotel lobby and pool were awesome. Plant material was very nice. We plan to come back with friends.

We arrived at the hotel to a very nice welcome from the receptionist. The reception area itself is very impressive, there is a further lounge upstairs and a gym. We were given a room in front of the Marina, absolutely stunning location. We have been going to Florida every year since the 1990s and always find new things to do. I am so pleased that we made the journey from Orlando to this lovely hotel for a couple of nights to experience the Everglades. Everything about the place impressed us, the... Read more

We were surprised about this hotel as the internet showed other pictures. We did not expect to arrive in such a nice hotel with an excellent swimming pool and restaurant. Mind you the breakfast is not super compared to what we are used to in Europe but the restaurant served excellent food and I will not forget my Gator Bites and rack of lambs! Whenever in the Everglades - stay with this hotel !

This is not like a Naples resort nor is it like an Everglades City motel. Its an older facility that has been kept up nicely and is a great place to stay when boating in the 10,000 islands or air boating in Everglades City. Its located 10 miles west of route 20 on the Tamiami Trail (US 41) in the middle of the glades. The grand lobby with the fireplace reminds one of a mountain lodge. Check-in was very pleasant with a friendly and efficient lady manning the desk. The grounds are well manicured a... Read more

We stayed here with a couple of friends. When we got here the receptionist couldn't find the 2nd room reservation, despite the fact that it was under the same booking! She wasn't willing to help and was saying I have to contract to sort it! Eventually she phoned someone and find the reservation. Not a great start! We booked the same room type yet our friends were given a studio with a kitchenette. We didn't get that. Then we found out by chance that we had no hot water in the room ... Read more

This was an interesting experience if nothing else. I felt like I had been launched back 40 years in a time machine. To be fair on the hotel having a look around the other places in the Everglades city this is the best one to stay at. The decor should be updated and although clean was a dark and depressing brown. The air conditioning unit in the room was very noisy but functioned well. reception was good and friendly so I suppose they are doing the best they can in that area. Breakfast was VE... Read more

First, I must express dismay in some of the negative reviews. I would speculate those who wrote negative reviews are looking for a hyper modern resort experience. This is classic Florida right down to the huge and deep pool. I stayed in a lodge room and it was clean and bright. It is perfect for 2 people, but would border on too-small with an extra person. There was no tub, but I could care less. It is a REAL lodge experience, mostly gone in the state of Florida. The lobby is like walking into t... Read more

Let's start with the good. Great location if you want to be in the Everglades. The harbour is lovely as are the properties opposite the hotel. The young receptionist did her best to help us out. The problem is the hotel is so old and outdated. Our room was frankly one of the poorest I have ever stayed in. It was small, dark, didn't feel clean and not somewhere I would stay again. The air conditioning is so loud it wakes you up every time it switches on. The pool itself was ok but the sunbeds w... Read more

Stopped In to enjoy a Father's Day meal. The restaurant actually has had some ups and downs, but decided to give it a try. We were pleasantly surprised the meal was fantastic. We ordered one of the Sunday Specials " Prime Rib" dinner, it came with a salad bar which was a beautifully layed out and it too was exceptional. The drinks were also something to brag about ordered a Bloody Mary and it was delicious. If they can continue to provide the delicious meals and great service I do believe things... Read more

This hotel was a great place to begin an Everglades adventure from the west side of Florida. It was comfortable, clean, and affordable. There was a small restaurant that was very satisfying. Breakfast was simple and free. This was a lodge experience, not a modern and fancy resort experience.

We were looking for a place that can be enjoyable not only for us as a couple but for our parents. Port of the Island offered a great price so everyone and their partner enjoyed their private room with front porch looking at the marina...a peaceful view at night, no doubt! The restaurant is excellent, one night we enjoyed karaoke and another night the live music! Simply great music, great drinks (expert bartenders), great food, and awesome camaraderie among the people. From there we saw the... Read more

As a woman traveling solo I found this to be a comfortable hotel. My room had a small kitchenette and was nicely decorated in a jungle motif. The small restaurant and bar was family friendly and I didn't feel out of place being there alone. This is an ideal location for many recreational activities from airboat trips through the everglades to boat trips into the Ten Thousand Islands. If you like to get away from the big city and explore nature this is a great place. Do be aware that the main lob... Read more

I stayed here with my family while spending several days exploring the Everglades. The best word I could use to describe this 'resort,' and I use that term loosely, is "adequate." I question the term "resort" because the rooms and amenities are more along the lines of an economy motel than a resort--think of a Holiday Inn with a marina (but not a single vending machine anywhere, so bring your own snacks and drinks). The rooms are adequate, the breakfast is adequate, and the service is adequat... Read more

Large hotel, arriving at night, with strong rain... strange...One Flew over the cuckoos's nest ? By the way, well located in the middle of nowhere, close to Port of Everglades. Restaurant was close so we had to go back to Naples.

My goodness! This place is great. Attentive friendly service from Jon and Chef Joe really knows his stuff. My wife is fussy about tuna but raved about her dinner tonight. She said it was the best ever. I love spicy sauces and the creamy horseradish tomato sauce on my pasta with shrimp and scallops hit the spot! Very informal. Very laid back. A perfect evening.

Stayed for 3 nights 1st week in September. Keep in mind, its slow season, which we love, its quiet and we don't care that a few restaurants are closed. Our casita in the resort had a bit of a kitchen with refrigerator, very nice in Florida temps.Rooms could use some updating, but very clean, useful and we liked it, did not spend so much time inside anyway. Continental breakfast is a good start there. The restaurant dinner was awsome, great chef and staff. Fresh and tasty, huge amount ;-) Everyone... Read more

If you're looking for a high end hotel, this isn't the hotel for you. However, if you are looking to take in the Everglades and all it has to offer, I'd definitely recommend this place. I cannot wait to come back here. An experience I wouldn't want to have missed.

I have stayed at Port of the Isles many times over the years, always a pleasure to stay there. My friends & I stay here to go back country fishing. Boat ramps, docks & marina are top notch. For being in the middle of the Everglades insects are not a problem because they spray the area regularly. Rooms & beds are clean & comfortable, pool area & grounds are well maintained. Very affordable compared to Marco Island. Staff is always super friendly, I don't have any negative things to say ab... Read more

Absolutely Loved it! If you love adventure, nature and relaxing. This is the place to be.... The houseboat was perfect for me but could be comfortable for 2. It's fully furnished and had everything I needed. Staff was wonderful, people were friendly, Resort beside Marina had great food and nightly entertainment and a big pool. In the Marina and surrounding area. There was daily fishing and wildlife tours. I saw, gators, manatees, fish, turtles, ospreys, hawks, many different egrets, woodpecker... Read more
