Very trendy hotel. We mostly showered and slept there. It was across the street from the beach. So easy access to the beach. It was also very easy access to the bus stop. We stayed in Miami for a concert and decided to stay by the beach instead of our normal Hialeah routine. It was a very trendy place. If you are a young person and like to hang out and party this is the perfect place. Or a get away weekend with the guys/girls. Cons: Not a place for families. Smells a little. Our TV in the room ... Verry nice hotel, for young people and the staff is verfy friendly. Just the pool can be bigger or have the chairs without paying next to it. But there are beach chairs and this is a plus. They offer opportunities to go cheaper to the clubs.

Upon arrival I was greeted at the door so I'm like yes this will be a great stay I paid 40 a night for valet services we got to our room and the rooms next to us was under construction I probably should add the fact that we were staying the Maxine so we could hear noise all day and some time late in the evening....the hotel does not have a ice machine so we had to call to the front desk for ice that was a total waste of time beca... Rooms were a bit small with the toilet separate from the shower and sink. The bed was really soft, you sunk right into the mattress, it was alright at first but got old towards the end of the week. The air conditioning was loud when it kicked in!! Mini bar would be better if it were a space for your own food instead of stocked with drinks. Roof top pool in July was like a warm bath, couldn't even use it, just swam in the ocean. Hotel is one block from the beach and 2 loungers are included with y... Read more

The rooms are very very small and the air conditioning didn't work. As the windows are up high the room felt very enclosed. It is in a good area. It is 3 buildings and on check in there was no explanation re pools etc, a map was handed over. The check in staff seem to be more concerned with chatting to one another and eyeing up the ladies than checking us in. Whilst I expected it to be a trendy hotel I still expect a good service. Unfortunately that was not the case. It is a hotel for you... Read more

Awesome location right across from the best hotels in South Beach. Easy walk across the street to the beach. Room was cute and simple, but had everything I needed. The only downside was the pool scene. The music was obnoxious at the rooftop pool and at the shady bamboo pool, there was no music at all. Different people had their own music playing and it was just awful I am used to staying at Miami hotels where they have nice downtempo or chill house music playing by the pool, which creates... Very affordable if you are on a budget. Even with the great price, the place is great and the rooms are nice. Only negative thing I would say is that they make you pay for the pool beds everyday and they aren't included with the stay.

This is without a doubt one of the best kept secrets in Miami South Beach Florida. The overall look of the hotel is exactly what you see on the pictures. The breakfast at Maximos was Grand and 2 pools..... Come on man....... The Dj at night is a nice touch. But the different places to sit and relax was over the top. We will definitely be back soon.

Just came back from my bachelorette trip. Booked Catalina Hotel and Beach Club through The South Beach Group. They gave me an amazing rate with a lot of perks. Rooms are super cute, art deco style. Bathrooms are small but you won't spend too much time in the room anyway. Fits up to 4 ppl but comfortably 3 or less. I recommend it. Close to restaurants and clubs.

This hotel had no parking unless you paid $40 for valet parking. Check In was painless but getting to our room? Wow...had to walk to a restaurant connected to the place we checked in and inside %here we took an elevator to our room. The toilet was in the tiniest of closets with no sink! In the room was a vanity and shower. No privacy. Only plus to staying there was the comfortable bed and proximity to the beach. Not for those looking to avoid night life.

It wasn't clear when booking that there are 3 buildings next to each other, depending on which one you are in will dictate which room type/design you get and if you have to walk through a restaurant or not. Some of the rooms are right on the ground floor with the restaurant - but we didn't get one of those. The room was clean, a little dark but really relaxing bed and secure safe. This was a last minute stay, so for the price it's tops, when you pay under 100$ a night for this type of location you should be happy. A little loud in the main building and you better not plan on going to bed early as the music blares throughout the building..... The rooms looked nice, and was comforting. However my bed sheets had a little dirt and had a few holes. Also I had food left over from eating out and couldn't keep it cold because the fridge that was provided was small and included the drinks you could purchase from the hotel, so there was no room to put anything else in there. Other than that the roof top pool was beautiful, the room came with a safe to keep our personal belonging locked up. I would stay at this hotel again.

We picked this hotel as a budget option for a bachelor party. The price was low, but hte staff was unhelpful, nonresponsive, and borderline incompetent. Two people in our party showed up a day late because of flight delays, and not only did the hotel fail to offer anything by way of customer service, they actually canceled our reservations, causing us to have to pay a higher price for the very room that we reserved. The Catalina is actually 3 hotels, we stayed in the Dorset which is above the sushi restaurant. We were really happy with our room, it was plenty big enough for the 2 of us, decorated nicely and always kept clean. The bed was possibly one of the comfiest beds I have ever slept in!! The view out of the window was... Read more

It was a overall great stay. Can't wait until the next trip to south beach I will definitely book again. And recommend friends and family. Great price with great comfortability for customers. Hotel is located in a key area. Not far from many of the good food spots. And clubs.

Great place for a vacation a block off the sand! Friendly staff with timely service. One of the best places on South Beach! The rooms are environmentally friendly with a focus on hotel efficiency! I would recommend this hotel to anybody looking to stay on the Collins Ave, and not stay at a over priced tourist trap.

This hotel is very odd. Its actually three separate buildings of hotel rooms that require you exit and enter via the street front to get to the other parts. The location is really the only good part. Its walking distance to lots of great restaurants and they provide free towels and chairs on the beach just a block away. Because we were on a red eye flight arriving on Friday morning, I called the day before to see if early check in would be available and the staff member told me she wasn't for s... Read more

At Maxine's in the Catalina Hotel, we enjoyed good food and service on a rainy evening. It was great to be greeted outdoors by an umbrella-carrying host. Cuban sandwich was okay but not unique and tacos had a nice spice. We loved the fries offered with the sandwich. Salad might have been great but it was warm and over-dressed. Great service!

The hotel is split across 3 buildings and we had to walk through the restaurant to get to our room which was a bit odd. It's trying hard to do the South Beach Art Deco things but could do with refurbishing. Our room had an enormous bed but was a bit shabby and we looked out on to a flat room on one side and a brick wall on the other. Reception staff were friendly enough. Hotel provides beach towels and a token for sunbeds, but when you get to the beach (just across the road) they charge 15 doll... Read more

The pictures and reviews I saw on this hotel was a slap in the face after I arrived. Maybe this was hotel it looked years, but definitely doesn't look nice now. This place is the worst and I'm grateful I didn't pay what the going rate was on the website. It's very small and crowded in the lobby and there's no structure what's so ever. The room was VERY small and the bed was very low (horrible platform style)the bathroom shower made a loud noise when you turned it on and the staff was rather rude... Read more

The Catalina is an AMAZING hotel! Awesome location, and the 24hour restaurant and the almost-24-hour bar were a HUGE bonus. The drink and the food were delicious! The front desk staff and the wait-staff & bartenders were so generous and so friendly staff. We were upgraded to a deluxe suite which was so classy. I will definitely be staying there again!

The hotel was the typical boutique hotel. Small rooms and renovations but overall I enjoyed the experience at the hotel. There are good restaurants attached and they have happy hour free drinks from 7-8 each evening. There is always some type of entertainment in these areas. It is one block to a public beach where the hotel provides chairs and towels. You can rent umbrellas for $15 a day.

I enjoyed my stay here. The room was small but cleaned well and looked cute. The view was not good because it was looking at the next building. Trash cans and an employee door where I saw people taking smoke breaks. But I wasn't there for a view so it was perfect for what I needed it for and the price was right too. Second time at this affordable, hipsterish, and conveniently located hotel. I was somehow mistakenly charged for valet parking I did not use. Did not see it until I reviewed my credit card bill. After a bit of back and forth with hotel assistant manager, they agreed to refund the charges. I travel frequently and appreciate good faith efforts to correct any discrepancies. I'll be staying here again. Thank you.

Day 1 Nice d├ęcor, but the floor has quite a few divots in it. Also, the commode runs so you have to jiggle the handle. Hotel consists of three buildings, so instead of having a type of breeze-way to go from building to building you have to go outside to get to the building where the rooms are located.

Our suite was very nice. The hotel was great. Bar was out of a few things we tried to order. One thing I didn't care for was when we left for their happy hour we put the Do Not Disturb sign on the door. When we came back, someone had been in there and moved some things around. Also liked that since we couldn't check in early they gave us some vouchers to get lounge chairs at the beach.

This boutique hotel is not luxurious but it has several amenities on site, is clean and is close to Ocean Drive, shopping, restaurants, etc. The "living large" room had plenty of space for two people and the bed was quite heavenly. The layout of the room (sink + a shower w/ a curtain on one end and the commode on the other) was ok for us as a couple, but I don't know how ideal it would be for roommates who aren't that comfortable with one another.
