"Upon arrival, we were downgraded to a room with 2 twins instead of a king that was booked. The downgraded room did not have an alarm clock. I requested one and it never came as housekeeping was 'closed' for the day. I have worked in hotels for 8 years and all that needed to be done was for a duty manager to go down to where the extra clocks were stored and bring us one. Very simple. They couldn't be bothered. One bed had a stain and the other had ripped sheets. We were upgraded to a new room the next day. That was nice. Of the 3 mornings we had requested wake up calls, we received a wake up call only once. Because of the missed wake up call and no alarm clock, we missed our morning tour and management didn't seem to care or offer any compensation. The resort fee is crap as you have to pay it every night even if you're not using the beach. Fitness center was under renovation and I never saw or was told about any place to eat on site."

"Definitely wait until renovations are done in the Fall of 2013. A closed restaurant was definitely an inconvenience that we did not know about until we got there. The housekeeping staff seems to have difficulty leaving the right kind and number of towels. We had to call nearly every day to get it corrected. The exercise room was also under construction and they wanted us to pay the hotel next door $10 to use theirs. Why couldn't they absorb that cost, the resort fee of $20 supposedly covers that expense. We had a mediocre experience. On the up side. The location is great out of the noise and close to Lincoln Road."

"The hotel was still undergoing renovations. We were directly next to an elevator so it was loud and all of the room doors close very loudly as well. The King Bed only had one pillow when we arrived, which makes no sense and there was only one towel in the bathroom. We also had to ask for the coffee maker. You have to wear shoes in the lobby because of the construction still going on and the 'on-site restaurant' is closed for now. The bed as comfortable and the shower was nice, besides the fact that it leaked all over the bathroom floor. The hotel does have two pools, but both are pretty small and there is no hot tub. The most efficiently run part of the hotel is the beach staff with the umbrellas and chairs. The young men there are nice. The beachfront location is the best part of the hotel. Besides that, it would be better to wait until all renovations are done or find somewhere else."

"Don't settle for less. Upon arrival it was not okay. Dirty laundry baskets everywhere and overall appearance was not clean. Upon entering the room I was shocked and disgusted. Dirty napkins and sheets that didn't looked like they have been changed. Plus the room did not look like the picture above. I figured out they placed meant my wife in the hotel and not the tower. I went backed and told them what I had booked was the tower and not the hotel. We got the better room and things worked out okay for the next three days. The last night room service didn't leave us big towels to dry ourselves off. Listen to other reviews about the 19 dollar resort charge. It's a way for them to make the hotel night fare lower but in essence you pay to that of a nicer hotel."

"This hotel was not was it cracked up to be from the website. There was no a/c for nearly a week. The elevators were inconsistent from hour to hour with only one of three operating on a regular basis--so long waits to get or go to the 11th floor. The bathroom sink was clogged when we arrived. The sound from the hall into the rooms is horrible--no sound barriers at all. The hotel was under renovation and guests had to walk outside to get from the lobby to the tower elevators. They were very stingy with their beach towels--one per person per day. The sun bathing area is entirely too small for the # of guests in the hotel. The staff at the front desk were always busy and it was difficult to just ask a simple question."

"I travel a lot and this vacation was not a bargain. Cost: A room rate was supposed to equal $230 per night. After fees and taxes the cost online was $300 per night. When we arrived at the hotel the hotel charged $42 per night to park our car and $20 per night for a resort fee for towels and chairs for three people. An extra $10 per night for another person. The total cost per night was $362. Hotel Condition: The first room had no air conditioning and they delivered the wrong luggage. The room was clean, but outdated. It was in the 80s and we had to sleep with the window open because they AC was broken. Apparently that had been going on for a week before we arrived. The manager agreed that it was not comfortable in the room, but couldn't move us until the next day. He suggested we open the window. We did and also had to deal with the noise until 3am. Only one of the three elevators were working. The next day we had to wait for our luggage to arrive in our new room before we could go to the beach. By the time our luggage arrived after 12 noon it began to rain. So we had no beach time again for the second day in a row (they don't allow you to check in until 4pm and take away the beach chairs at 5pm). When the room was cleaned they didn't leave enough towels, shampoo, or clean glasses. They did provide them once we called the front desk. Management tried to fix each of the issues we had and was very courteous. It would have been better not to be placed in the first room to begin with. I thought it only fair to have the cost of the room refunded for the night without air conditioning, but they wouldn't accommodate our request. The hotel location is very close to Lincoln Rd if you want to walk to the shops/restaurants and the beach was nice. I would suggest staying at a nicer hotel and taking a cab."

"I arrived quite late and checked in around 8 pm. I did not have time to use the beach or the resort facilities but got charged for it anyway. When I objected, they refunded half, not all, of the daily charge. I was in Miami beach to attend a ceremony and, therefore, during my stay I did not use any of the services/facilities/beach but was charged the daily resort fee of $19 plus tax anyway. Cleaning staff did a poor job of making up the room and replacing the used toiletries and towels. Coffee/tea was supposed to be provided in the room. None was there. They were supposed to provide newspapers to the room. It was not done. USA Today newspaper, however, was available in the lobby."

"overall it was an ok stay for the money. It's not a cheap hotel ($400 a night) but it has issues that need addressing to make the price match the stay. It's a 17 floor hotel but despite having three elevators only one worked during our stay. You can not adjust the AC in your room and it was relatively warm for the entire stay. One night the room was 82 degrees all night... not good. The walls are paper thin - since it's South Beach be prepared to deal with people coming in at 4 am and keeping the party going in their rooms. The staff was friendly - no complaints there. The hotel's common areas seemed dirty mostly due to it's renovations. The rooms were very clean and house keeping did a good job with refreshing the room daily. It is true the bathroom door does not close fully - it's a design flaw or a safety feature - either way you'll have no privacy. The location is fantastic. I would stay there again post renovations and hopefully it would have improved enough to meet it's potential."

"The only positive thing about the Royal Palm hotel was close proximity to the beach. Everything else was aweful. Paying high price for Oceanfront room ($400 per night), I was expecting great value. No chance. It's amazing that hotel is advertised as 4-star hotel. Must be some kind of joke. 1) Arrived at roughly 7pm and was waiting for 15 minutes to check in. 2) Small room for this price. 3) Shower was not running. 4) No single ice machine working in the whole hotel! 5) No cold tap water - the water was warm. 6) No parking, except for vallet parking. 7) Room was advertised as having a balcony - but was not mentioned that the balcony was really tiny. 7) Hotel was advertised as being renovated - I saw no signs of that - eveything looks really old, espcially carpeting."

"It was my boyfriends bday celebration and it was the most amazing time we have has in our lives. The staff was amazing as well as our room. I had them set everything up in the room with two bottles of champagne and all his gifts so when we walked in he was so surprised. Only complaint is the so called gym. Should invest in a few
Machines or at least dumbells."

"my stay was horrible The hotel is still under construction and the Bar was something thrown together. No Dinner in the dining room and to add insult to injury they added a charge for use of the beach and internet even though I did not use either one. PS the bathroom door does not close.
