"The multitude of decent reviews on this one site swayed me into staying at Red South Beach, but they also led me astray. Maybe I'm harder to please, or maybe our room wasn't the norm, but I found this hotel to be really lacking in some areas. I will say firstly that the staff was very friendly. Service at the restaurant and bar was friendly as well, albeit unreliable. Getting a server to our table usually meant having to go up to the bar to ask for someone. I tried ordering coffee up to our room one morning, and it never arrived. Everyone was very kind, just not very thorough or on the ball. Our room was O.K, bordering on unacceptable. Not terrible, and relatively clean, but nothing as nice as the pictures led me to believe-those photos hide a lot. I appreciate what they've tried to do style wise with this place, its just all accomplished in the cheapest, most haphazard way possible. Our bed was terribly squeaky--any movement at all and it sounded like the bed would fall apart, and our mattress was really bad. We had a king sized bed and the middle sank so poorly it felt like I was climbing out of a half-pipe every morning. My husband and I are below average sized, and it felt like we were rolling into hole in the middle of the bed when we went to sleep. I would have asked to change rooms except the hotel was sold out the weekend we stayed there. Besides that, our room as at the end of a smoking hall and through a door to the emergency stairs. Nothing exactly wrong with that, just a bit strange and helped kill what little ambiance they had going for them. The hallway was dark and lit with poorly painted (?) red florescent lights. Would have been sexy except it looked like it was more for the intended purpose of hiding an eyesore of a hallway. The elevator would take around 5 minutes or more to come when called, and there's only, I believe, 6 floors. The lobby is as pictured, and sure, the bedrooms look relatively like what is pictured--you just can't tell from the photos that the bed actually has nail holes in the wood and chipped off paint, the red painted chair's paint is rubbing off on the wall, the bathroom tile and toilet have been there since the 80's and that your room might come with a random kitchen area that looks more old-apartment than newly-restored hotel (ours did). I'm not saying this hotel is all bad--I realize we paid less than most places in South Beach, and the kindness of the staff definitely counts for something. What I can say though is the multitude of good reviews on this site are misleading and the hotel itself was not what I'd expected, nor would I stay there again. Do more research than I did and check non-travel related review sites. Yelp had very different reviews than this site did, and I wish i'd read those before booking."

"The hotel was very nice. The service was wonderful on all accords. We had an issue with the hot water one night. They offered to move us to a new room. But the room was a lot smaller and the water still wasn't hot. By the next day it was fine. Then on the last day the air conditioner was not working. Over all the trip was great. The hotel is in a great location and I thought it was a good experience. The hotel mananger wantede to give us a credit but couldn't because we didn't book directly throught he hotel. "

"Our trip Red South Beach Hotel was the bomb! We were in town for the Miami Ing Marathon and 1/2 Marathon. We arrived way early and were allowed to check right in to our room! The staff was very helpful and graced us with warm hospitality. The staff also took the intiative to help us with all traveling questions. The helped us secure a cab the morning of the race and then again to get us back to the airport. We had a late flight so the staff was so kind to hold our bags for us until departure and even got them out for us to change from our beach clothes to our 'flight' clothes. Everything was carried out with a smile on their face. Loved this hotel and the staff!!! Convienient walk to the beach as well! Look for our picture in the egg to win the contest! We want to return here at a discount!"

"This hotel was a great experience. It was very clean and unique with its red color scemes. The dim red lit romantic hallways really set the mood. The red carpet and red and white pillows was really unique. The bathrooms were clean along with the lounge and restaurant area. They shower heads were wide and made me hate to get out. The bartender was great also. He told us good things to do during our stay and made us great drinks....even though they are a little expensive. We had a bad experience at another South Beach hotel and had to check-out by 1200, so they allowed us to check in early. This is a smaller hotel, so we got very personal service. Some of the views suck, but this hotel is great and I plan on going back during my next trip to South Beach."

Antwon, who works at the bar/restaurant, went above and beyond his regular duties to help me get around Miami. The room I had was nice. A little small. There is an issue with ants tho. Nothing major but thot I'd share it with those who may stay here. For those coming from airport, make sure u ask for the local bus depot. Ask for the 150 airport flyer. It takes u to Collins ave. for $2.35. Must pay cash tho so be aware. For those of u not budget conscious, disregard this info. If u don't feel like walking, u will be paying for taxi cabs. It can get expensive. Anyways, I had a blast in Miami. I would recommend this hotel to my friends. "

"upon arrival the first thing that I noticed was that it was a little further away from south beach than i expected but not hateful. Literally one block away from a not so crowded part of the beach was a huge plus. The staff was outstanding and the hotel itself was retro but had a certain sex appeal about it. Never got in the pool because the beach was so close but neither did many other guests that were there during my visit. There were a couple of areas of opportunity for the hotel. The water in the shower would not stay at a consistant temperature. sometimes it would got hot unexpectedly. Not scalding hot but could make some people uncomfortable. the big thing for me, I checked in and went to shower and there were ants in the bathroom. called the front desk and they took care of it immediately with an upgraded room but there were some ants in the bathroom in that room as well. Aside from the ants it was truly a good place to stay at a very reasonable rate. Get rid of the critters and you have a fantastic little place for a retreat. "

"This hotel is literally all red and white, very sexy. The staff are very friendly and will not fail to greet you or help you in any way. My room, which was very roomy, had a kitchenette and a view of the pool. The pool appeared dirty but it wasn't. You can order drinks and meals by the pool and have them delivered to your room. Free drinks during happy hour! It is across the street from the free beach. The negatives of the hotel-housekeeping does not speak English, the walls are thin so you can hear them vacuuming and talking in the hallways, the shower constantly changes hot and cold water, and you have to take a taxi to Washington ave. "The staff absolutely stood out, they were very accomadating and friendly from the moment we arrived to the moment we departed. They allowed us to check in early and change our room with no problems. The hotel is very nice, clean and sheek. Pool is small, however nice, clean, comfortable and was never crowded. The location is very close to the beach, however located in a somewhat deserted area on the out skirts of south beach. Hotel located on 30th street, need to walk to at least 20th street for more stores/restaurants and civilization. Beautiful hotel, shame that it was located next to several abandon buildings. Walking distance to an amazing and affordable cuban restaurant. The free complimentary drink was definitely a bonus. I woule definitely stay here again and recommend to a friend."

"The staff was amazing. By mistake we arrived the day after our reservation. the staff was so understanding to our honest mistake, that they checked for available space. Luck being on our side there was one room left and they were so gracious as to offer the room at no cost. The hotel was beautiful, the room was very clean, and the restaurant was lovely (very good food) as well. The location was very safe and close to the beach. We would return. Very pleased!"
