"The hotel is a cute little modern boutique which nice clean rooms however there were many drawbacks to staying at this hotel.

We were put on the smoking floor and hadn't asked if we wanted smoking or non-smoking. As a result this resulted in our room smelling of smoke due to the fact that the room was were adjoining.
I put in a request for the room to be cleaned several times at reception and was reasurred that this would happen, however when we returned to our room in the evenings the room had not been cleaned.
Most importantly this hotel is located a bit far out and our of the way so taxi's will need to be taken in order to get to the main part of South Beach and Ocean Drive where all the action and atmosphere is.

"Hey everyone. Just got back from South Beach. Stayed at RED. Just want to mention that in spite of the weather, ( we got trapped in a hurricane) the stuff at Red made us very comfortable, I also had a 9 year old w/ me. Want to personally thank the staff. Definitely a wonderful experience.. very close to the beach, clubs so on. We loved the pool, you can enjoy it as long as u want it, especially if you travel with a child. I would like to thank everyone from RED, for all the french love & flavors.. for an amazing hospitality.. keep up a great work guys. I made wonderful friends ( and honestly, didn't want to leave, they are that awesome) Good luck to all of you, I will see you next year!! :)"

"It's a really nice and cheap hotel to stay in Florida, Miami Beach. Unfortunately, there was a fan unning in my room, 24/7. It was somehow annoing and you were not able to turn it off, since it was for the floorway, according to maintenance.
Without this fan, nights would have ben more relaxing. But I was also told that this was one of the few rooms with the fan, but the hotel was fully booked."

"We really enjoyed our stay at Red South Beach Hotel. As soon as we arrived they informed us that something was wrong with our room and they had taken care of us at a hotel down the block (which was even nicer). The next two nights we were in a quaint modern clean room with basic necessities. That's all you need in South Beach! All we did in the room was sleep. Easy walk down to swingin South Beach, tons of shops and restuarants and clubs. Super close to the beach (away from crowded South Beach) or you can walk the river walk down to the main beach. Tons of bikes for rent. nnThe restaurant in the hotel is overpriced, as most are, but the food is really good. Staff was pretty friendly. The way it's designed is super hipster and I felt like a south beach VIP vacation in style. The clientele was mostly younger (20's and 30's) and some young couples brought kids. They do have a small pool which looked nice and clean but we were obsessed with the beach. nnThe only thing was a strange bad smell in the elevator. I guess it was connected to our out-of-order room. Never asked what it was, but I'm sure it was only temporary. Another thing is although this is a quieter part of town it is also kind of empty at times. There are some empty hotels in the area undergoing construction and I'm a scardy cat so I never walked around alone, but I'm sure it's fine. nn***DO NOT PAY FOR THEIR VALET PARKING!!! $25/day is a RIP OFF. There is a parking lot a couple blocks north that's FREE from 6pm-8am and only $10 from 8am to 6pm. "

"Had the time of my life in Miami! The stay in Red South Beach was the best service by far i have ever received in a hotel. Everybody was helpful from the day we arrived till the day we left. The room was very very clean and beautiful. Room service was so great, They will have our room spotless everytime we will return. the front desk was very helpful as well. The hotel has a great location to everywhere. I highly recommend this beautiful hotel to everybody who decides to travel to Miami. :)"

"The rooms are small they don't give out continental breakfast the pets are loud the tub stops up The elevators are scary & old the drinks are really high &nasty their we're spiders in the room their r scary pictures on the wall , the hotel is far away from everything the construction across the street is loud we r on the 7th floor and the window opens up with no screen ...... I dont recommend anyone to stay here it's suppose to be a vacation for us but we r going to make the best of it may 2012"

"I arrive at the hotel around 1 pm ,check in wasn't until 3pm.the staff told me that someone would call me once my room was ready which I said okay as I took my bags and went to my friends hotel room on 17th and Collins.around 5pm I notice that I never received a phone call to let me know if my room was ready , I call the hotel they clearly state oh I was jus about to call u your room jus became available 5 mins ago.but check in is at 3. Since I was already out having fun with my luggage I got dressed and stayed at my friends hotel. Around 4 am I came to finally check into the hotel and receive my keys the staff then say oh we have u down as a no show . Once that situation was handle .i found my room to be small as hell a dresser and bed that's all don't let your luggage be over sized . My last day there I called and asked for a late check out they told me no problem call an hr before .when I call an hr before they tell me their not doing late checkouts today but then suggests for a fee of 30 DollarsI can stay to 3pm . This is the worse hotel I ever stayed in the view is disgusting they need to up date there furniture instead of spray painting it.they need staff that knows there job and they need to treat there customers better .i would never stay there again .oh I didn't mention that the local pizza place robs there guest also."

"My husband and I chose this location as an overnight stay to celebrate our anniversary. As soon as we began the drive down Collins avenue I knew we had made a mistake as the hotel is VERY far from the happening scene of South Beach. It is in the 'non desireable' section of Collins Ave, stuffed between 2 construction sites which appear to be non functioning. We arrived at 2 pm and our room was not ready (understandable). We opted to wait out by the pool, and sat on 2 dirty, cheap, cracked lounge chairs overlooking a FILTHY pool. Full of debris, dirt, and magazine flyers that clearly the wind had picked up and they landed in the pool however no one at the hotel bothered to clean it up. There was no waiter service at the pool nor was anyone from the hotel out there at all. We got our room around 3 pm and as soon as we entered the main vent from the air conditioning unit in the ceiling was on the floor! Upon further entry into the room, we find the carpets dirty and the small section of tile floor in the room dirty as well. NOT HAPPY. We call to get the vent fixed and after 40 minutes of waiting my husband pulled over a chair and fixed it himself. Never got an apology or a call back saying they were on their way. We were just forgotten about. The 'beach chairs and towels' the hotel provides??? Ask for them behind the front desk and CARRY them yourself up the block and across 2 more blocks to the beach. No beach chair and towel service on the beach! False advertisitng! Fast forward to later that night after our night out on the town we return to the hotel (a good 10 minute cab ride to ocean drive and the fun part of Collins Ave) and we politely ask the male concierge where we could get a bottle of water. Now- most hotels either have a vending machine or SOMETHING on the property for you to get a drink. NOT HERE!!! Not only did the RUDE concierge tell us to take a cab to Walgreens to get water (WHAT???) but when I expressed my unhappiness over the hotel his response was 'OK.' No I'm sorry, no what can we do to fix this, nothing! The most unaccomodating concierge I have ever seen in my life. I would not stay here again if they paid ME!"

"The hotel was clean and very minimalistic, but the room was very small. All it fit was a bed and a dresser, with not much room for anything else. The bathroom was also very small. With that said, it was a good place to spend the nights, but I wouldn't call it a high-quality hotel. The location was also lacking in that it's pretty far from downtown South Beach, where all the restaurants and shops are. If you're looking just to go to the beach every day, it's only a block away, but if you want to check out restaurants or find decent places to eat, you should stay at a hotel that's more South. I think the price could have been a little cheaper for the quality I got. Nonetheless, there was nothing terribly bad about the hotel - it was just a nice place to spend the nights, but I definitely stayed there as little as necessary."

"I thought the Hotel was very well decorated, the staff extremely friendly, the housekeeping was very good, the poolside restaurant was nice. Could watch grandkids swim while I sat and enjoyed a drink. One free each night. Staff was very nice, especially Tomas. Negetives unfortunately: Construction across the street was always going on, except at night, very loud. The prices at the restaurant were very high, for what you get. Kinda slow service. Rooms were small, especially the bathroom. Not in walking distance of much. A subway, drug store, and a very bad small market. To get anywhere you had to take a cab or bus. It got expensive! Two dollars each for the bus, no transfers. If you go to the beach, across the street, they give you a chir to carry, but have to rent an umbrella for $10.00 each day. There were just to many inconvient things to get me to go back. Sorry."

"The multitude of decent reviews on this one site swayed me into staying at Red South Beach, but they also led me astray. Maybe I'm harder to please, or maybe our room wasn't the norm, but I found this hotel to be really lacking in some areas. I will say firstly that the staff was very friendly. Service at the restaurant and bar was friendly as well, albeit unreliable. Getting a server to our table usually meant having to go up to the bar to ask for someone. I tried ordering coffee up to our room one morning, and it never arrived. Everyone was very kind, just not very thorough or on the ball. Our room was O.K, bordering on unacceptable. Not terrible, and relatively clean, but nothing as nice as the pictures led me to believe-those photos hide a lot. I appreciate what they've tried to do style wise with this place, its just all accomplished in the cheapest, most haphazard way possible. Our bed was terribly squeaky--any movement at all and it sounded like the bed would fall apart, and our mattress was really bad. We had a king sized bed and the middle sank so poorly it felt like I was climbing out of a half-pipe every morning. My husband and I are below average sized, and it felt like we were rolling into hole in the middle of the bed when we went to sleep. I would have asked to change rooms except the hotel was sold out the weekend we stayed there. Besides that, our room as at the end of a smoking hall and through a door to the emergency stairs. Nothing exactly wrong with that, just a bit strange and helped kill what little ambiance they had going for them. The hallway was dark and lit with poorly painted (?) red florescent lights. Would have been sexy except it looked like it was more for the intended purpose of hiding an eyesore of a hallway. The elevator would take around 5 minutes or more to come when called, and there's only, I believe, 6 floors. The lobby is as pictured, and sure, the bedrooms look relatively like what is pictured--you just can't tell from the photos that the bed actually has nail holes in the wood and chipped off paint, the red painted chair's paint is rubbing off on the wall, the bathroom tile and toilet have been there since the 80's and that your room might come with a random kitchen area that looks more old-apartment than newly-restored hotel (ours did). I'm not saying this hotel is all bad--I realize we paid less than most places in South Beach, and the kindness of the staff definitely counts for something. What I can say though is the multitude of good reviews on this site are misleading and the hotel itself was not what I'd expected, nor would I stay there again. Do more research than I did and check non-travel related review sites. Yelp had very different reviews than this site did, and I wish i'd read those before booking."

But the room was a lot smaller and the water still wasn't hot. By the next day it was fine. Then on the last day the air conditioner was not working. Over all the trip was great. The hotel is in a great location and I thought it was a good experience. The hotel mananger wantede to give us a credit but couldn't because we didn't book directly throught he hotel. "

"Great Hotel! was the perfect balance between price and quality for us. We were upgraded to a Cabana. The hotel is close enough to the South Beach core via the boardwalk. Children were welcome. There is a French flare inspired by the owners. The staff was very kind and full of smiles. We had whatever we asked for or needed quickly. There is a nice grocery a block away with wonderful Columbian deli food. The beds were every comfortable with quality sheets. The room was very clean and spacious enough. We had a cool walk in shower. Flat screen TV with a good high speed Internet supporting video streaming. The pool was fine and clean. Complimentary Happy Hour is a nice touch. "Our trip Red South Beach Hotel was the bomb! We were in town for the Miami Ing Marathon and 1/2 Marathon. We arrived way early and were allowed to check right in to our room! The staff was very helpful and graced us with warm hospitality. The staff also took the intiative to help us with all traveling questions. The helped us secure a cab the morning of the race and then again to get us back to the airport. We had a late flight so the staff was so kind to hold our bags for us until departure and even got them out for us to change from our beach clothes to our 'flight' clothes. Everything was carried out with a smile on their face. Loved this hotel and the staff!!! Convienient walk to the beach as well! Look for our picture in the egg to win the contest! We want to return here at a discount!"

"This hotel was a great experience. It was very clean and unique with its red color scemes. The dim red lit romantic hallways really set the mood. The red carpet and red and white pillows was really unique. The bathrooms were clean along with the lounge and restaurant area. They shower heads were wide and made me hate to get out. The bartender was great also. He told us good things to do during our stay and made us great drinks....even though they are a little expensive. We had a bad experience at another South Beach hotel and had to check-out by 1200, so they allowed us to check in early. This is a smaller hotel, so we got very personal service. Some of the views suck, but this hotel is great and I plan on going back during my next trip to South Beach."

"Overall, I enjoyed my trip to Miami. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. Antwon, who works at the bar/restaurant, went above and beyond his regular duties to help me get around Miami. The room I had was nice. A little small. There is an issue with ants tho. Nothing major but thot I'd share it with those who may stay here. For those coming from airport, make sure u ask for the local bus depot. Ask for the 150 airport flyer. It takes u to Collins ave. for $2.35. Must pay cash tho so be aware. For those of u not budget conscious, disregard this info. If u don't feel like walking, u will be paying for taxi cabs. It can get expensive. Anyways, I had a blast in Miami. I would recommend this hotel to my friends. "

"upon arrival the first thing that I noticed was that it was a little further away from south beach than i expected but not hateful. Literally one block away from a not so crowded part of the beach was a huge plus. The staff was outstanding and the hotel itself was retro but had a certain sex appeal about it. Never got in the pool because the beach was so close but neither did many other guests that were there during my visit. There were a couple of areas of opportunity for the hotel. The water in the shower would not stay at a consistant temperature. sometimes it would got hot unexpectedly. Not scalding hot but could make some people uncomfortable. the big thing for me, I checked in and went to shower and there were ants in the bathroom. called the front desk and they took care of it immediately with an upgraded room but there were some ants in the bathroom in that room as well. Aside from the ants it was truly a good place to stay at a very reasonable rate. Get rid of the critters and you have a fantastic little place for a retreat. "

"Definitely would return to the hotel! It was good. I prefer small hotels to big ones, it just feels better. I am very concerned about how clean a hotel is, so Red South Beach lived up to my expectations and was even better than i expected. Stuff is helpful, beach is close. What else do you need? Ok, if you are a party animal and need crazy fun, then maybe no, this hotel is not in the center of south beach, but still for us (24-25 year old girls) it was still walking distance to all entertainment. "This hotel is literally all red and white, very sexy. The staff are very friendly and will not fail to greet you or help you in any way. My room, which was very roomy, had a kitchenette and a view of the pool. The pool appeared dirty but it wasn't. You can order drinks and meals by the pool and have them delivered to your room. Free drinks during happy hour! It is across the street from the free beach. The negatives of the hotel-housekeeping does not speak English, the walls are thin so you can hear them vacuuming and talking in the hallways, the shower constantly changes hot and cold water, and you have to take a taxi to Washington ave.
