"The Good - The Intercontinental Hotel, Miami is a beautiful hotel. As other reviews have mentioned, the lobby is great, the outside is great, rooms, service, and view are all fantastic. I stayed in one of their basic 2 double rooms for a business convention, and the beds were great. The view was unbelievable (facing east out onto the bay). All the rooms I think have an extremely wide single panel window which only assists the view. The Bad: While to outdoor heated pool really is very nice, and the bar/cafe next too it and hot tubs next to it really provide a nice environment, the buildings around it block the sun from the pool for most of the day (at least in february). While the rooms are nice, some small but definitely irritating annoyances exist. There bathroom is separated, but the the light switches are not. There is also not a bathroom fan that I could tell installed anywhere which leaves a bit to be desired in some situations.. My biggest pet peeve about this place, and the reason I will look for other hotels my next time in Miami is their internet connectivity. They have wifi access in most of the rooms I believe, and in the lobby area as well - but it is a paid subscription of $12/day - which is rather absurd since the room is already $400+ for a basic room. Not only that but, its $12/day/computer. So if you have 2 computers that need internet, you have to pay for a 24-hour PIN access code twice. Even if you're in the same room. For a hotel that is toting itself as a business convention place, as well as being in downtown Miami/business district, AND having just completed a 24 or 32 million dollar renovation (can't remember which)... it's inexcusable to me to not have free high-speed internet access in every room. As a generation X-er (25 years old), I hope they get on the ball and allow free, secure, wireless internet soon. Upcoming generations of travelers will (and do) expect it. Nickel and Dime-ing I would not naturally associate with nice hotels. This experience has been a hit to that ideal. For travelers who do not use the Internet at all - you'll most likely love your stay. It's not near the beach, or the nightlife - but the view really is quite nice. I think next time I'm going to to the Mandarin that opened up across the water. Good view there too i'm sure."
