"Found this gem, and all I can say is WOW! The Congress is amazing, the entrance is beautiful with the fountain and it is a champagne check-in! Everything went very smoothly, plus they recommended the best driver - Fritz. The room was perfect, two of us stayed in a junior suite, the view was nothing but palm trees, sandy beaches, and the ocean. The staff were always on call, anything you needed was delivered promptly. Loved the security guy with the great sense of humor :) I will definitely book this place when I return, the rates are reasonable, the location is right in the middle of everything, and the bartender on the roof pool was adorable. I can't say enough good things about this place. Thank you for a great first experience in Sobe! Loved it

"MAKE SURE YOU KNOW THE DAILY RESORT FEES ARE DAILY AND PER PERSON STAYING IN THE ROOM WHICH IS NOT CLEAR WHEN YOUR SIGNING FOR THE DAILY RESORT FEE CHARGE. I SPENT AN EXTRA $180 APPART FROM HOTEL ROOM CAHRGE. This hotel is in a great location, staff was 50/50 some where very helpful and others specially the women could care less. On our first day everything was fine but the next it would go down hill. As someone mentioned before Our room was also NOT cleaned which we thought we would wait until the evening to ask if they cleaned the rooms on a daily basis or not. Well since they didn't clean the room we also did not have clean towels and had to reuse the ones from the night before. I asked one of the guys that worked there about the room cleaning and he called the maintenance people right away. They cleaned the room within a few hours. I mentioned this when checking out and asked if could maybe give me a discount on the daily resort fee for that day they charged and they said the RESORT fees had nothing to do with the cleaning of the rooms and that they owe me nothing to because they cleaned my room that same late EVENING AFTER I had asked if they could please do so. I have never Asked and don't believe any customer should ask for the room to be clean and towels changed. I was appalled by the lack of professionalism, if this person has a degree in the business field she should be fired. I WILL NOT BE STAYING HERE AGAIN AND HOPE THIS HELPS PEOPLE BOTH VISITORS AND HIGHER MANAGEMENT TO IMPROVE THE LEVEL OF SERVICE THIS PLACE CAN OFFER IN A GREAT LOCATION. "this hotel was the worst i've ever stayed at... very horrible service, left over food in the fridge from previous guests. the maid never seemed to clean the room. the safe wasn't working. the outlet in the wall was hanging out. the curtain rod was rusted and falling off. the microwave was only in spanish. the fire alarm went off at 6am and didn't stop making noise until 12 pm..it was a false alarm and no one knew how to turn off the alarms or anything like that because no fire truck showed up! the front desk tried to rip us off by charging more than usual or what our receipt initially said when booking. there were roaches.and the door lock didn't work. it was extremely noisy.. only the location was good..."

"The service and the room at the Congress could not have been more ideal. From the day we checked in to the day we left, it was service with a smile all the way! Louis the bellhop was smiling and helpful at all times, even giving my wife a 'palm cricket' the day we left! A wonderful young man! The room -- or rooms since we had a combo kitchen/living -- was excellent, the king bed comfortable and the mod bath a delight with its rainfall showerhead! In short, we'd come back here in a heartbeat and, frankly, we felt a little sad leaving, but a family affair called us to Key West."

"I just returned last night from my trip to south beach, Miami. My boyfriend and I went for our anniversary and this was the best hotel on the strip. Food is amazing, drinks can be expensive, except, going to south beach you better be prepared to spend money!! The congress hotel is made up of 5 different buildings- the rooms are all updated and modern..done very nicely!. The rooftop pool and bar is amazing - the views are breathtaking. Hotel staff was awesome- we came back from the beach to a surprise bottle of champagne. . Hotel location is on 10th&ocean, which is a prime location. You are in the center of ocean drive where the most popular bars (mangos, wet willies) are only a couple blocks down....I would recommend this hotel 100% to anybody!"

"I found the hotel to be ok. No rave review. The location is extremely noisy til about 4am. You have to want to party to stay on Ocean Dr. I wasnt expecting the resort fees but one day on the beach with chairs and towels were nice. I had to pay 15.00 for the umbrella rental for the day (til 5pm).There was a nice kitchenette with a good size frig and microwave in our room. The bellman was extremely helpful with info on how to find the things we needed, like where to eat and how to get around and they held our luggage until the rooms were ready. The front desk clerk was not pleasant at all.If I wanted to party, I would return to this hotel."

"My friends and I LOVED the Congress hotel! We booked 2 jr suites and were upgraded to a one bedroom suite. The suites were spacious and clean! This was my 3rd trip to south beach I think this hotel was the best place I stayed. I thought Reyba and the staff was very helpful. We also LOVED LOVED our breakfast vouchers, which was at restaurant next door. The voucher was for $5.75 but the most the items were that price and trust me it was some crappy bagel and butter sort of deal. We had 2 eggs any style with home fries and bacon, pancakes with fruit, and huevos rancheros! Also, the Congress included 2 beach chairs and complimentary towels at the beach. This made the $12.50 resort fee worth it. Overall, I think the congress is the place to stay and I would go back."

"My boyfriend and I just returned from our trip to South Beach. Our Stayed at the Congress Hotel was a good experience. The staff was friendly and helpful specially the guy that carries your luggage to your room. The hotel is right in the middle of Ocean Drive, which is across the street from the Beach. They do charge a resort fee of $12.50 per person per day, but that pays off itself because they provide with free beach chair and umbrella rental for the days you are there. They also offer a daily free continental breakfast from 7a-10am, which included bagels, croissants, muffins, cereals, yogurt, fruit, milk and juices. On the weekends the hotels on the strip usually have music blasting and some kind of entertainment which can be a bit loud if you are in an ocean view room. If you are looking for a place to party, drink and be surrounded by people then South Beach is the place to be. If you are looking for a family relaxing vacation then I suggest you go some where like Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic which has an amazing beach and beautiful all inclusive hotels where you don't have to worry about anything, just go there to relax and enjoy the beach. If I return to Miami, I would definitely stay at the Congress Hotel again and recommend it to others."

"I was extremely disappointed with the level of service provided. I had booked two rooms several months in advance to ensure the rooms were situated nearby one another, as I was with a large group for a bachelorette party. I was reassured multiple times the rooms would be (if not next to) close to one another. I called a week in advance to double check and again I was reassured they were close by. At the check-in date of the first room (one day prior to the check in of the second room as I and the bride-to-be arrived a day early for some R&R) was again told the second room was nearby the first. At the day of the second room's check-in, I was told %u2018Oh no we can't tell you ahead of time if the rooms are nearby, and we can't choose the room you have, your second room is in a SEPARATE BUILDING' (not even CLOSE to the building much less the ROOM of the first booking). If I had been informed of this at booking, I would have canceled and booked with a hotel who was able to accommodate this mundane request.
Unfortunately this was only the beginning of the %u2018great' experience with the hotel.The front desk had utterly no regard for customer service (or even an ounce of respect for another human for that matter) and could not have cared less to be assisting guests. The only staff members who showed any interest in helping us were the tipped employees (no surprise there). But the rest of the staff could have taken lessons in customer service from the bag-boys. Multiple times we called to the front desk for items such as ice, towels, etc. only to be rudely ignored and have to call back multiple times, or literally go down to the front desk and practically harass them until they responded. Furthermore, the %u2018amenities' as they refer to them, were a joke. Breakfast was cold, stale bread or cereal and Maxwell house coffee. And the included beach chairs and umbrellas (which we were told was a part of the PER-Person $12.50 charge per day) was not so %u2018included' we were told when we got down to the beach that if we wanted one chair per-person staying in the rooms, we would have to pay an additional charge of $10/chair and $20/umbrella.
On top of the poor service and laughable amenities, the hotel itself seemed in disarray. The elevator worked 30% of the stay at best and if the stairs were locked (entrance is from the alley) we were told there was no key and we would have to wait in the lobby for them to fix the elevator. Twice we waited more than 20 minutes just to get up to our room! Thank God no one needed emergency services in the hotel at the time; the EMT's would have no way of getting to them! The pool on the roof-top was also deplorable. The lining was lifting off the pool all around and the bottom was slimy. The TV's in the room were also smaller than what I would put in my car, I felt as if I needed a magnifying glass to see the picture.
To top off the absurd service, amenities, and property issues, they improperly charged my credit card at the end of the stay, which wasn't shown on the statement. I only noticed the issues in my credit card statement online the next day and called repeatedly to the hotel and management and left several voice mails only to be ignored. In fact, they have caller ID, so if you call asking to be connected to management more than once, they simply hang up on you. Looks like I'll be disputing the charges through my credit card company since they are %u2018unable' (more like unwilling) to fix the issue. I was also told I would get a Florida resident discount when booking, and never received it.
In short, I have never experienced any hotel who's staff and management showed such blatant disregard for customer care.

"Overall, a great experience. The hotel is actually charging 12.50 per person per day for resort fees! Had to find that out the hard way and ended up paying DOUBLE what I expected. Hot water faucet for the bathtub didn't work. So you could not take a bath if you preferred. Shower hot faucet worked just fine. Fridge didn't work but the mini fridge did work so it wasn't a problem for us, but it may be for some one with groceries and such."

"I was very unhappy with my stay here. Room represented online was not the room I got, I requested to be in the Contemporary building with a balcony and was put in the tropical building with no balcony. But I still had a beautiful ocean view so I didn't immediately complain. Emailed manager two days prior to arrival and have het to receive a response (my stay was July 10-15), upon arrival our fridge did not work, apparently the plug was loose, easily fixed but every time you bumped fridge it stopped working. Our second morning there, we awoke to a bed full and our luggage covered in red fire ants later discovered that was probably due to the windows that wouldnt shut properly. Their solution was a can of bug spray. At that point i asked to be moved to the building i requested and they rudely stated they had nowhere to move me too but did refund a small portion of resort fees. I received multiple bug bites while there and the ant problem continued our entire stay. Shower drained slowly so there was a ring of sand and soap scum around the bottom of the tub the entire stay. Housekeeping would barge in, spoke no English, and changed out the trash bags but left the old trash sitting there. Some staff were pleasant, valet was efficient, and they were prompt responding to complaints. One stove eye did not work. Even after all that i would have still given them a decent rating until the day of checkout. I checked out at 8:00 AM and was notified via phone at 4:00 PM that there were burn marks found on the carpet in our room and they had charged me $400 for damages. Charge was done before phone call, they emailed me pics of what appeared to be where an iron had fallen onto carpet. When i left the room there were no burn marks present, iron was never even near the portion of floor burned in the photos. When i asked to speak to a manager, the caller stated i would have to call back the next day to speak to one. After repeated attempts to contact a manager via Facebook and email I have yet to speak to one. I think this is how they take care of customers who complain. Will definitely NOT be returning to this hotel nor would I recommend any one else to stay here. For what I paid to stay here it should have been alot better."

"I loved this hotel (after we figured out how the shower worked lol). The hotel is right across the street from the ocean and I the middle of everything south beach has to offer. We partied and had a fabulous time on the rooftop, the bartender was amazing and mixed great drinks. The view from the rooftop was indescribable, I love our room. It was a perfect getaway for a girls weekend and a great way to celebrate my 25th. I would definitely be back at the congress, it's so south beach it's sickkkkkk!!!"

"Can't beat this location on Ocean Drive, across from entrance to the beach and next to the craziness that is the Clevelander hotel. It was great to party there and be able to still run next door to our room if we needed to. Don't expect quiet...bring ear plugs if you are bothered by noise.
The staff, the bellhop, to the receptionist, were efficient, friendly and courteous (even during the busiest of times). Due to overbooking, we were upgraded from our Junior Suites to Deluxe suites with full ocean views from our massive balcony. Amazing!
The breakfast (breads, cereals, yogurt, and juice/coffee) could use work or be made optional, but the $13 daily fee also pays for the use of the beach chairs and umbrella (a cost of $25 if you were to walk in off the street). Totally worth it.
The rooftop pool was the best spot to watch the fourth of July firework show on the beach.
Definitely not my last visit!"

Half the trip was raining so we got to spend some time in the room and it was very comfortable, felt like if I was home, my only complaint is the resort fee, I think is too much for what you get, and I think that you should have the right to chose where to eat breakfast, it doesn't have any sense, and if you don't use the vouchers you will still be charge, which means that you will be spending double just on breakfast, overall a good hotel, the bar/restaurant downstairs have the best liquor deals on the whole strip, the cups were huge and it was a two for one special, we had a great time."

"The Hotel is perfectly situated on South Beach. The service staff from the Bellhop Front Desk Clerk the Bartender was very friendly and helpful. The Jr. Suite was ideal with two separate balconies overlooking Ocean drive and the ocean. The rooftop pool is very quite with plenty of Cabanna space. I was very impressed with the suite by the way was very large and spacious. I have stayed at plenty of South Beach Hotels but never did I have a great experience like I had here. The Hotel is walking distance to all the restaurants on Ocean and nearby Collins. I would highly reccomend this hotel.

"The location of this hotel was great. Literally across the street from the beach. It was clean and neat when we arrived but housekeeping was not nearly as efficient as they should have been through my 4 night stay. At one point the hotel ran out of towels and blankets. I had to ask for more paper towels and toilet paper when we ran out. This was the biggest annoyance. Other than that the hotel was great and the staff was awesome."

"A group of 6 stayed here over the weekend and really enjoyed it. One couple received a room with 2 beds, and the hotel quickly switched rooms. They tried to keep our group in the same building. Breakfast is continental, but it does the trick. The rooftop bar/pool is GREAT. The bartender is THE BEST. Make sure you get a Miami Vice...
Hotel staff was very down to earth and told us about the nightlife package ($40, open bar for 2 hours, VIP entrance to a club, ride to the club, etc). It was a bit loud at night, but your in the middle of South Beach, so what do you expect? I'm a hard sleeper and the drinks helped me not hear a thing throughout the night.
Rooms were pretty modern, nice size tv, very open. I loved my stay and I'd come back!"

"We stayed in building 'C' the room was very clean and spacious. All the appliances were new and modern. The bathroom was very large with a deep soaking tub, a handheld shower, and an overhead 'rain shower' shower head. The bed was very comfortable The staff was polite, friendly, and helpful. They booked a great jet ski excursion for us. They were always on hand to help and answer any questions. The roof top pool was beautiful and the view was incredible. The congress is right in the middle of the action, and right across from the beach. Free towels, chairs, and umbrellas are available on the beach for hotel guests use. There are many great restaurants, clubs, and shopping within easy walking distance of the hotel. The only downside I would say that would be for some, not for us, was that it is not a quiet area. The club runs until very late in the night and you can hear the music clearly from your room. Again, this is not an issue for us, but for some who may be light sleepers, it may cause an issue."

"Our bathroom leaked all Sunday since it was raining. They gave us a bucket and never came back! We ordered room service one night and it never came. I don't think they have enough staff on hand. I asked to speak with a manager and they have yet to call me. That's horrible customer service right there. I would definitely return to South Beach, probably would pick another hotel."

"GREAT location!!!! BUT....there were 2 small cups that were dirty, 2 coffee cups, 3 plates (finally enought for 2 ladies), 3 forks, 1 spoon and a million butter knives. The air condition didn't work, it was hot at night so we turned the AC to 52 and still sweated at night. I LOVED the tub...BUT they had a sign in the bathroom that said something like 'please participate with the conservation of utilites (or something to that affect) about reusing towels...who does that!!! The prices are very high! walk around the neighborhood first there are cheaper places to eat. There is a spot on Ocean Dr beside Fat Tuesdays, that have excellent deals if your on a budget. I hated that it rained the entire trip and it was cool. I will be back again, but this time it will be at a different hotel."

"The rooms are very large and the kitchenettes a plus with the large refrigerator. Beds and linens very comfortable. The staff was very pleasant. We arrived very early so I got a massage at their spa while the kids went to the pool. We were called when the room became available which was about 2 hours prior to check in time. Right across from the beach which was very clean. My kids enjoyed all the nightlife - I go to bed early and you do wake up quite often to the sounds of partying or bands or motorcycles. Then when the town quiets down out come the street sweeping machines! However I had a wonderful time and will go back. My only complaint was the cleaning staff - they didn't replace towels as needed or other stocked items. But they did clean well!"

"It's almost impossible to sleep in this hotel. It's very noisy. The front desk clerk was very rude and not helpful. But that's what you get when you pay for a cheap rate. I would never stay there again. Although the bell man was very nice."

"The hotel lived up to the hype! With a prime location right on Ocean Dr. at 11th street, you were in the heart of all the action. Yes it was noisy at night...but I found ear plugs worked well for nights I wanted to turn in early. The Junior suite we booked was nice and large with a king size bed and working kithenette (with pots, cutlery and a full fridge). It is suitable for 2 adults or 2 adults and one child (there's a fold out sofa or futon). Bathroom is large and clean with a rainfall showerhead. Good ventilation. A/C is strong in the building, which is much-needed. The rooftop pool is heated with plenty of loungers and towels. The beach across the street is less than 2 min away and comes with an umbrella, padded loungers and towels. The resort fee of $12.50/day pp, covers the cost of this plus breakfast. Although Continental, the breakfast was more than enough to start the day...make your own toasted bagel with condiments, three types of cereal, fruit, yoghurt, pastries, teas and coffee. Everyone working there from the breakfast crew to the front office to the bell hop was friendly and willing to accommodate."

"We stayed 2 nights here on an impromptu trip, so we had to switch rooms. Very pleased with the location (right across the park from the beach, right in the middle of the action in SoBe). Great little rooftop pool (3-4' deep), accommodating staff, stylish design. The rooms are very large, and the kitchenettes are awesome--definitely the best I've ever seen. Fridge/Freezer is big enough for a long stay; pull-out island; one room even had a microwave/convection oven combo. The bed was very comfortable, but families beware that the 2nd bed is a futon, and was barely large enough for our 6 and 8 year-old daughter to share.
Other things to be aware of, but shouldn't scare you off:
The reception area is small and with room for only two clerks it can really get backed up. The hotel is along the street so you have to walk through sidewalk restaurants to get to your room from the lobby, and the SoBe restaurants all hustle passers-by to try to get you into their restaurant. This is a loud area of SoBe. Our rooms were much quieter than we feared they could be, but I'd recommend earplugs if you go to bed early. Finally, the front desk blew our wakeup call, so I was glad we'd also set our alarm."

"Our flight early and we were at the hotel by 11am. We were fully aware that check-in was at 4pm however with previous hotels early check-in is almost always an option. We were told we would get out room as soon as one became available. Our friends arrived at the hotel around noon and had there room by 1pm. All the while other hotel guest arriving before 4pm got a room. Finally at 6pm after asking several times a room became available. We were told we would be contacted when the room became available but were not. After asking the manager for some sort of compensation for the tardiness, he offered us a drink. The restaurant he was offering us a drink at offered that same free drink as soon as we arrived. So in fact he was not doing anything to compensate us for the inconvenience. We were finally able to get our resort fees waived after about a half hour discussion with him. The hotel itself is well maintained and overall clean. Most of the hotel staff is very pleasant and helpful. However the beach/pool/bathroom towels were often stained. Now at checkout time we were charged for not returning the towels which we were told could be returned anywhere in the hotel. We were also charged for the resort fee which we had waived on the date of check-in due to the inconvenience of late check-in. We then had to get this adjusted again. Overall it wasn't a terrible stay however i would carefully review my bill when checking out and make sure you are accommodated for any mistakes which there will be."
