"The rooms and hotel itself were nice. My travelers and I were supposed to have double queen beds but they were overbooked and gave us a king bed instead which we decided to just keep. The fridge is small and doesn't get that cold. The area is good and close to everything. The walls are thin but it's not a big deal. The concierge didn't provide VIP passes like they claimed they would and didn't know what events were happening in the area. Good hotel if you want to be close to everything."

"The Clifton Hotel South Beach .... let me start by saying this , the sheets were dirty and had holes in it , probably cigaret butt holes , The location was very good and the staff was friendly , but the quality of the accommodations were below par .They charge a resort fee of 14 dollars a day ,even if you don't use the pool and other services , In my case they also charged 17 dollar for drinks taken from the Minibar which I n e v e r touched !!!!!! , Seems to me that this Hotel is putting the collection of revenue ahead of Customer Satisfaction. If that wasn't enough ,The last day of my stay, I had to get off bed at 2 am due to a fire alarm that scared the hack off me .When asked if there was a fire in the building , they replied that it was a false alarm .!! Are u kidding me ?? How many things can go wrong in an only few days ???? I can not recommend this Hotel."

"I was so excited for my week long getaway. I got there in the morning and was told I couldn't check in til 3PM because they were fully booked and needed to clean a room, etc. I got to a room that was great for the purpose of sleeping and lounging. It is a green hotel and I totally appreciate that, but the rooms were not thoroughly cleaned, and not even every day (no vacuuming the floors, the shades were dirty, there were herds of tiny ants for the duration of our stay, the sheets were not changed). Theyoffer their guests free WiFi, but the internet didn't work most of the time. There was not always someone attending the front desk or the bar. They boast a continental breakfast, but there were mini boxes of cereal or packaged pastry. They did offer clean beach towels every day which was helpful, and they are extremely close to the beach and Lincoln Rd, and some great restaurants and nightlife. The night before we left, someone walked in the emergency exit and pulled the fire alarm at 2AM. No kind of security or anything. It is a cheap place to stay in the heart of South Beach. I would have preferred to have gotten what was offered."

"We had a very bad experience at this Hotel... We arrived to the Hotel around 11pm, the staff was not friendly, SHE WAS RUDE!!!!!!!! I ask her a question which she turns back to me with another question. I can't believe it!!!!!!!!!She was just ready to go home, instead of taking care of her job or responsibilities. The room smells very bad. I went back to the from desk to request to be move to another room, which she stated that she didn't have any other room available, but she will send someone to spray the room, few minutes later she called me back to the room to tell me that they didn't have any spray! THE ALL EXPERIENCED WAS TERRIBLE. THE HOTEL IN GENERAL IS A MESS. I DO NOT RECOMMAND THIS HOTEL!!!!! THE BED WAS NOT CONFORTABLE AND THE ROOM IS TOO SMALL!!"

"My friends and I stayed here for my bachelorette party. The room was clean ( a bit small, but we made it work) and the staff was very friendly. The beds were comfortable and the air conditioning worked fine. The downfall to our room was that the refrigerator did not get that cold and the top shelf of it was only meant to be used as an actual 'shelf'..which was odd. The area is a little scummy, but so is just about any area in miami, especially when it gets to be later in the night. If people are going to complain about the noise (which really wasn't bad), they should not be going to South Beach in the first place. There's a Subway across the street, along with McDonald's and various pizza places minutes away, which cut down on the expenses when we wanted something simple for lunch. The sister pool wasn't as 'glamerous' as other pools in the area, but we were able to enjoy drinks and not be bothered by overcrowding. They also provide towels, so that was one less thing to pack. Overall, if you are not planning on staying in the hotel room for the majority of your trip, the Clifton was a great find (good location with walgreens nearby, liquor stores, and the beach- we never needed a taxi). If you are looking for high-end and pampering, I'd look elsewhere (possibly another part of Florida!)."

"Started off all wrong... I called the 'Clifton Hotel' Operator before booking the room just to verify any additional fees & they told me that the $150 deposit would not be charged on my card unless I violated the policy! So I proceeded to book the room & when I arrived @ the Clifton I was asked for my card for the $150 deposit that wouldn't get refunded to my account for 7 to 10 business days! Smh! The hotel was clean & was a central location to the shops, clubs, & beach. The guy @ the front desk was very helpful!"

"For the price I wasn't sure what to expect, but my group's visit to the Clifton Hotel was great. The staff is friendly, the hotel is clean and although the rooms are small the beds are sooooo comfortable. The beach and all of the hot spots we wanted to visit were in close walking distance. We also liked the fact the hotel is eco friendly. Overall we had a wonderful stay at the Clifton and would recommend this hotel if you are looking for an economical yet pleasant stay while in South Beach."

"My recent stay (5/25 - 5/27) at the Clifton Hotel - A Cambean Earth Hotel located at 1343 Collins Ave, Miami, FL, US, 33139 was DISASTROUS. nnFirst, I would like to start off qualifying myself by saying that I do my best to take vacations often. I normally plan between three to five mini or extended vacations a year with family & friends. This means that choosing quality, reputable accommodations is extremely important to me.nnEverything about the Clifton Hotel description is a flat out lie. This hotel can easily be charged with false advertisement as well as misleading guests / customers. Below are just a few examples of their blatant mendacity:nn4-Star Eco-Friendly Boutique HotelnOne-of-a-kind chic Eco-hotelnOffers state-of-the-art comfort and technologynProvide you with a completely sophisticated yet high-tech stay, all while demonstrating an Eco-friendly structurenContinental Breakfast nOne-of-a-kind hotel will not only provide an unforgettable stay, it will leave you with a feeling of accomplishmentnnHere is what you actually get when you stay at the Clifton:nnFraudulently listed as a 4-star hotel (as noted by a previous reviewer)nBroken Air Conditioner (with 90 plus degree weather outside)nBroken ice machinenHorrible lighting in the roomsnTo say that the staff, including management and housekeeping, severely lacked sophistication and professionalism is an understatementnContinental breakfast / dinner should have been cited as a health code violation. What was considered to be a buffet consisted of three large partially covered aluminum pans that had rice, some indescribable meat, and vegetablesnnBUYER BEWARE is all I have to say if you are considering staying at this second rate hotel. Yes, my stay at the Clifton was indeed unforgettable as I could no longer take the terrible experience I was having so I checked out before my original date to do so and booked a last minute room at a much nicer hotel located further down South Beach. I must I admit that I did notice that the further down I went on South Beach, the better the accommodations. However, my opinion could be subjective given that the Clifton was such a horrifying nightmare that even your local Motel 6 can be considered a Five-star hotel when compared to the Clifton.nnThe end.nnSheneika W."

"I booked this hotel through a travel website which was listed as a 4-star hotel, should be a 2 star hotel!!! I almost immediately learned this was an unrefined distortion of one, the staff I perceived to be cut-rate hires in which the hotel could possibly find, as they lack the polish and professionalism you should receive at a REAL 4-star hotel. FIRST AND FORMOST DO NOT PURCHASE ANY PACKAGE PROMISING YOU A "LIMO... AND VIP ACCESS, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!! There are a bunch of cut-throat promoters out there that will sell you a dream AND I experienced it first hand with their FRONT DESK STAFF!!!! I HAVE NEVER experienced a staff member who was so devious and money hungry. The hotel is an older art-deco building (as many are in that area) however the interior was renovated with incredibly inexpensive furnishings. The room was reasonably clean for the most part but the walls and door are paper thin. The rooms are on a floor up a flight of stairs directly above the lobby lounge, which by the way looks like a coffee shop with a small bar, which plays music loudly until at least 2 a.m. They have a surprisingly ignorant lack of knowledge of the local area to say the least. The room itself has only short ceilings and is incredibly small. They are fraudulently listed as a 4-star hotel, which is to no avail."

"I guess the hotel was Ok for the price... noise was unbearable. A big fight broke up the first night at 4.00AM. And I mean a BIG fight. Walls are paper thin. Bamboo stairs sound like an elephant is approaching... There is only one spot for the 'Valet parking' which by the way is 26 dollars per day. That means that if the spot is taken, you will be driving around the block for the next 25 minutes until someone from the valet parking company comes and moves it. Good luck with that. Also beware of the 13 dollars per day hidden fee. You won't even hear about it until you arrive at the hotel. Pool is offsite. Location is good."

"Not sure why there are so many less than stellar reviews of Clifton Hotel. My friend and I stayed there for two nights and we really liked it! Considering the awesome location and budget-friendly price, I'm not sure why people are expecting a 5 star hotel when you're not paying 5 star hotel prices. Clifton exceeded are expectations--it was clean, cute, had an iPod dock, standard amenities like soap/shampoo/beach towels, and to our surprise, you have access to their sister hotel's pool just a couple blocks away. All the staff were very friendly, and that's what made the stay so enjoyable. I did notice the walls are indeed fairly thin but I'd imagine that's not a problem unless you go during prime party season (which we did not, and we slept great). If you're worried about that, bring ear plugs and don't let that stop you from staying at Clifton! The only reason they're not getting a 5 star rating from me is that I left my coat in the room and came back to get it after checking out and they had already gotten rid of it. I mean, that's really my own fault and I can't blame them but I was surprised they didn't have a better system for lost and found items. So don't leave anything behind!"

"Stay somewhere else! There are plenty of clean and affordable hotels in the area. Our group was told we were booked for a single occupancy room and that they were booked solid. As a result our group was given a discount (I use this term loosely). Although the hotel was recently renovated, it was poorly done. The walls are extremely thin; the lighting was atrocious (when the light decided to work. It would go on and off at its leisure), our phone did not work, and the curtains were falling apart all of this in our SUITE! The staff was made up of a front desk attendant who took it upon herself to pocket money meant for a reservation and bar tenders who barely spoke English and didnt know what limes were (really). It's as if they pulled random people off the street to work here. All in all this hotel equates to an Ikea. Stay somewhere else. And BUYER BEWARE, do not pay for any VIP party packages through the front desk as they will flat out rob you."

"I booked this hotel through a travel website and it was listed as a 4-star hotel. I soon learned this was a gross misrepresentation. The hotel is an older art-deco building as many are in that area, but the interior is incredibly cheap. I would describe this place as a glorified hostel with an Ikea makeover. The room was reasonably clean but the walls and door are paper thin and the rooms are on a floor up a flight of stairs directly above the lobby lounge, which plays music loudly until at least 2 a.m. The staff strikes me as being the cheapest hires the hotel could possibly find, as they lack the polish and professionalism you should receive at a real 4-star hotel. They have a surprisingly ignorant lack of knowledge of the local area. I routinely heard every noise downstairs and in the hallway, including the noisy housekeeping staff. A real 4-star hotel has much better construction and much nicer decor. A real 4-star hotel also has a gym - this hotel has no gym. The gym you have access to is in a sister property down the block, and it is one of the worst excuses for a gym I have ever seen. It is downstairs in a basement area basically, adjacent to a smelly drainage pipe with a vent on the floor. The room itself has only 7 foot ceilings and is incredibly small. There are about 3 pieces of cardio equipment, a beatup bowflex (who really knows how to easily navigate modifying all of the bowflex positions for different exercises), and a few dumbells going up to only 20 pounds or so. Because the ceilings are so low, you can't even do any standing arm-raise exercises. A complete dump. To top the morning off, housekeeping chose to have some child that was accompanying them bang on my door for them, completely ignoring the fact that my do-not-disturb light was on. I called a manager the following day who told me she would investigate and work something out for the host of troubles I experienced. She assured me she would call me back the following day. That was about a week ago and no one has called me. I have traveled all over the world and this ties for number one as my worst hotel stay. I WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN. It's one thing if they were marketed at the star level they really are - 2 1/2 stars, then many of these issues would fall in line with what you would expect at such a property. But they are fraudulently listed as a 4-star hotel, which is inexcusable."

"My gf and i stayed here for our vocation in USA. When i was booking this hotel it was rated at 4 stars. I decided to make a reservation and i was hoping for a great time after all its Miami Beach.
We came here after our cruise. At first i couldnt belive my eyes how badly it looks from outside. We walked in ( guy at the front desk was nice) we got the room on the 2nd floor just at the stairs. Problem#1 insted of king size bed we got 2 double beds. i requested to change the room guy said that all rooms are booked -ok.
Problem #2. In one of the beds bedsheet had a huge hole in it ( 4 star hotel huh)
Problem#3 there is no way its possible to get a good sleep here as you can hear everything that is going on in the hallway, next room and lobby ( there are always some random people ) talking laughing and screaming. Problem#4 while we were away for four hours some one was in our room moved all our stuff and took the lightfixture. They told us house keeping ( who actually left 3 hrs ago ( thats what ive been told when i requested to change out bed sheet. the only good thing is location but there is a lot of nicer hotels for the same price.
Will i ever return here? Never ever even if you pay me. "

"Reserved hotel with bookit.com for 3 days in December 2011 as it was rated as 4 star in Miami Beach for around $100 per day which we thought was a good deal considering it was in the heart of Miami Beach.
On arrival the entrance look shabby but we thought as long as room and bath is clean we should be ok. When we entered the room it was extremely dark and had a bad odor. Next we checked bed sheets and they were stained and had human hair everywhere. Only thing that was okay was the washroom. There was absolutely no WIFI signal in the room. We called bookit customer service that we want to cancel our reservation, bookit rep called hotel front desk but he informed me that manager is away and you have to stay here for atleast till tomorrow and it will be at discretion of manager if this reservation can be cancelled.
We went down to talk with person at front desk. He rudely informed us that we cannot talk to manager as she has toothache and also there is no other room that we can be switched since hotel is fully booked. On our insistence that we absolutely cannot stay here he sent sms to manager and after a while said she cannot be reached. After a few minutes he said that we can check other room. Atleast in the other room there was WIFI signal (although internet throughput was slow) and the room was almost as dirty as the previous one and nothing near what we expect from a 4 star hotel. At best this is a 2 star hotel. Next thing we heard from front desk is that manager has waived resort fee we can talk to manager in the morning if the next 2 days reservation can be cancelled or not.
So overall its location was good but dirty room and bad experience at front desk ruined our whole trip.

"Greatl Experience at the Clifton. The room was very nice and clean. The staff was pleasant and helpful. Parking was an issue.. Parked a 1/2 a block away in a public parking facility but it worked out. We were there on a Thursday and Friday night. The bar was very active and from our 1st floor room the noise was apparent in our room. It calmed down after midnight. Overall pretty good stay.. restaurants were plentiful and nice. "

"Overall my trip was AWESOME! After driving 9 hrs or more, arrived at the Clifton Hotel before check time and was able to check in way before check-in. The rooms are small but we didnt stay in it like that! We were close to everything beach and all (shopping). The price for the room was str8 as well! The front desk are friendly and when I needed towels, washcloths and tissue, they were on it! The only thing that I didn't like was no microwave in no rooms! Shower head and toilet is the bomb ( GREAT). When I come back I probably would stay somewhere else only b/c of the room size but the rooms are very clean! Oh, the air condition is very loud but mangeable!! "

"I visit Miami quite often and most times I stay at the Clifton. One of the greatest features about this hotel is it's location. The Staff is always friendly and are always able to help me find my way or offer suggestions about restaurants. The hotel has great decor, and the fact that it's eco friendly is even more appealing. I love the feel of the boutique hotels and these rooms are fairly large compared to a lot of the other rooms in South Beach. My room is always quiet and I am always able to get a great night's sleep. The only downside to Miami (not any of the hotels) is that the City of Miami controls the parking/Valet in the city, so paying per day is pricey. I feel bad for the front desk when people are trying to make them waive it. It's not something they can control, I usually take a cab or walk everywhere. I know there's no pool, however, less than half a block away, you can use the one at the Carlton Hotel. I love the Clifton, and every time I visit Miami, the Clifton is the first place I look for. "
