Ideally situated in the heart of the famed Art Deco District of South Beach, the Blue Moon is steps from the boutiques, bistros, and beaches of Ocean Drive. The Blue Moon is named after the song "Blue Moon" which was written by Rogers and Hart. The name was changed by Merv Griffin, the famous talk show host, who owned the hotel at the time and was a big fan of Rogers and Hart". The hotel, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is a happy union of two hotels -- the Art Deco-style Lafayette and the Mediterranean-style Les Suites, now bridged by an arched breezeway. Both architectural styles remain intact welcoming you back again & again.

75 renovated rooms and suites, stylishly decorated and appointed with luxury amenities, including soft cotton bathrobes, CD player, minibar, coffee maker, irons and ironing boards, and complimentary safes. A Recent Traveler from Gadsden, Alabama had this to say:

"I have stayed in my share of hotels and this is not a 4 star hotel. They do not have a 'large' pool. The pool is 3ft deep and maybe 10 feet long by about 4 ft wide. The staff were nice. I had a king size room that costs extra and usually means nicer. It wasn't. The rooms were not as the pictures showed. They were dated. The carpet was old. The beds were comfortable and the pillows excellent. The bathrooms were ok but small. It did not look cheery and beachy as the picture showed. The breakfast was nice with waffles, croissants, muffins, fresh fruit and cereal. Also the room was by the front street with lots of noise and cars until midnight. The bartender was great. This was a 2 1/2 star at best. "
