They overbooked the 1st night I was there and moved me to another hotel. The staff was very unorganized! Girl at pool never came back w my check so I had to goto the bar to pay my tab."

"I had washcloths for 1 out of 4 days. Next to last day, they made the bed and that was it. The phone did not work. The shower would go from extreme cold to extreme hot no matter where the dial was. Only good thing was on the beach and on ocean drive. Next time will pay a little more and stay someplace else."

"Absolutely shocking hotel. Do not stay here.
When we arrived the staff were incredibly unfriendly and unhelpful.
- The first room we checked into wasn't made up
- The second room we checked into was nothing like the room we booked
- The third room (which was supposed to be an upgrade) was even smaller, dirtier (ie. sticky floors) none of the windows opened.
- We were then offered our original room...but had to wait for it to be made up again. Over an hour wait...then we were given another room.
Horrible experience.
Staff were on the whole very unhelpful and unhappy. Unlike anything else I have ever experienced in America...clearly they did not want to be there.
They made no effort to apologise for the horrendous check in experience.
The pool was OK...but overcrowded.
The breakfast room was closed for renovations...so we were moved into another smaller area which barely functioned.
Breakfast was supposed to be continental. There was only cornflakes and fruit loops on option, no fruit in sight. Poor selection of bread and pastries.
Due to the renovations there was no room service...fairly unacceptable in a hotel.
Beach was nice, but again, the staff managing the beach area were incredibly rude and unhelpful.
Do yourself a favour and DO NOT stay here!!!

"the staff was amazing!!! all very helpful from the moment we got there till the end of our trip.
the concierge was extremely helpful in getting tickets to the Miami heat playoff game 1. we were extremely excited for that. thank you .
the pool was amazing so much fun even when the rain came pouring down.
our only complaint was that our AC was not functioning properly, it was on but was not cooling the room, the room felt humid. I called the front desk to request a maintenance man to come look at it and one was sent in mins. He tried to fix it but nothing happen. He told us our best bet was to ask for a different room because the vent were to old they don't circulate well. We waited it out for a night see it got better but in the end we wanted to switch room but were to lazy to repack and move. We kept the window open which help a lot.
My friends room was a new renovated one and it was beautiful!!! everything worked no complaint there.
the Shelborne is in a great spot everything was walking distance and the access to the beach was the best!!! Loved it here..."

"Wow..have never seen a hotel as poorly maintained as this one.
The lobby, pool and location are fine. Right on the beach with really good beach service.
BUT THE ROOMS ARE A DISGRACE!
Torn rugs, broken bed, no curtains in one room, banged up windows sills...and a window that fell out of its track.
The safe didn't work. And the exterior hallway rugs were disgusting...stained, dirty...truly shocking. the sheets and towels were clean...but otherwise, really amazing that a hotel can be so gross. And of course, we tried to change rooms...but it was worse!
And this was a premium room?? Funny thing is, tons of people are at the front desk all the time complaining about their rooms and trying to move.
Not worth the money. Might be ok for spring breakers...but for anyone else, forget it."

"Booked three nights at the Shelborne South Beach. When we got to the room it was nothing like any of the photos that the website had pictured. The bathroom was dark and the bathroom sink had hair in it along with dirty tile. We called down to have our room changed and the next room was worse with two queen size beds that were two different sizes in height not to mention cracked paint coming off the wall another dirty bathroom and a carpet with a huge runner in it,and frayed at the edges. There was no mirror in the room and the only mirror was in the bathroom which was too dark to see in. When we called to the front desk was completely un helpful and rude.. He told us we were in a upgraded newly renovated room and when I asked him to come and see our room he refused, We ended up leaving because there was also no hot water . Would never go back."

"Weather was very good. I stayed at Shelborne because it's a beach front hotel.
We enjoyed the beach. it was very nice. Now is the bad part starts.
Shelborne is not a upscale resort at all. It's just a 2 start motel.
Only reception area and main lobby looks good. Everything else is rundown and smells very bad. It's stinks!
I never ever stay again there.
Rooms are very small. A/C is noisy and did not work on automatic mode,
Bath room has no rooms to put Shampoo and soap together. You can only keep one thing. Very small bath room just a half glass door.
We were not able to use the hotels swimming pool due to a private pool party they having.

"Please let me tell you about the fantastic week my teenage daughter, friends, and I had at the Shelborne Hotel. From the moment our taxi arrived a doorman quickly retrieved our luggage and had it waiting as we checked in. The check-in staff were friendly and happy (as I'm sure most people who live in Miami and enjoy the sun and surf must always be) and explained all the anemenities the hotel has to offer.
This is more of a resort than a hotel. There are 4 very different bars that cater to the experience you desire. On the lower level they just opened a karaoke bar open from 10pm until 5am. I thought who would be there singing with everything else South Beach has to offer but I was very wrong. Not only was there a fun and energetic crowd of guests but also locals and even a world renown opera singer from Italy graced the stage. There is a posh bar right at the front door for a fine social drinking crowd and toward the back is a sports bar with all the games imaginable on many flat screen tvs 24/7; along with a pool table to bring out the competitive spirit. Finally there is a pool bar, but with fantastic food and dining either in the dining area or to be brought poolside. And last but not least you may never have experienced a pool party quite like the one the Shelborne puts on every Saturday afternoon. It is the spot to be.
Now that we know the service is great lets talk about the spacious rooms that South Beach doesn't always offer. We had a very comfortable living space with room to spare, walk in closet, full size dresser, and even a kitchenette. This was very helpful to bring back leftovers from the generous food portions at most restaurants. You even have your own balcony. My only request was that wash clothes had to be requested every day, but once requested they were promptly brought to your room. I guess I'm old school for preferring to wash myself with a cloth to get clean, especially to scrub off sun block and sand.
The Shelborne staff hold the door for you every time you enter and leave and always greet you like your their valued guests. If you need a taxi or recommendation for food or attractions they will point you in the right direction. As a summary, you are sure to have a great stay at the Shelborne which has everything you need, want, and soooo much more. This was the first time I was sad to go home because I felt at home every minute of my stay. I will absolutely be back to enjoy South Beach and I will absolutely stay at the Shelborne again.

"What an awful hotel.....Here is the rundown of my less than spectacular visit:
1) Hotel places me on 14th floor (floor has no carpets and fans running all night long. I guess a big water break occurred)
2) The fans wake me up in the middle of the night and the hotel places me in another crumby room
3) Website claims to have all renovated rooms. The 2 rooms i was in were not renovated
4) TV and Shower did not work in 2nd room
5) You pay a 25 dollar resort free every day but yet the pool was closed all weekend long for parties. (Parties that by the way are not free for hotel guests)
6) Construction going on in the room where you eat breakfast
Overall...awful experience. "

"I booked a three night stay at the Shelborne. I tried checking in early bc my flight got in super early, but wasn't able to. I don't think that should make the rating for this hotel go down. The staff were all super nice and accommodating since it was early and my room wasn't ready. They held my bags and recommended a place to start off my miami adventure. My room was ready early and they even gave me a call to let me know. The room itself was clean and inviting. Everything was white and it overlooked the ocean. Maid service came in everyday and freshened it up. Pool was beautiful, breakfast was great, complimentary drink during happy hour was generous, the guys that worked in the tiki hut on the beach were very helpful along with the concierge who helped me land great seats for the heat game! Overall booking my stay at this hotel was the right way to go, not to mention super affordable. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting south beach!"

"I had THE WORST experience when I traveled to Miami in August. This site booked us in a room that was in the worst location in the hotel. There was mold, terrible decor, and was just down right scary, like something out of a horror movie. The hotel was nice enough to move us and went out of their way to make our stay better, The hotel ended up moving us 3 times, to rooms that just kept getting better and better, and even went as far as to comp us dinner at Verper and a cabana, which made the whole trip worth it! "The rooms at the Shelborne Hotel in South Beach were not the rooms that I viewed online, we were placed in a non renovated room, in which there was mold that lined around the tub, and the lamps did not work. The hotel charged us an additional 25$ a day for use of beach chair, towel and beach umbrella that I was not aware of when booking that particular hotel, I realized it after I purchased the package and it was stated on my itinery paper. I requested an upgrade room when we had seen our room but hotel couldn't upgrade us because no rooms were available. I do have to say the staff at the Shelborne were friendly and courteous."

"I have mixed feelings. My purpose for going to Miami was to go on a cruise and I decided to stay two extra days. I called ahead to ask if I could have an early check in because the cruise ship came back to port at 7:30am. I was told if there were rooms available I could do so. I get there at 9am and there where no rooms available so they took our bags and we waited around until it was check in time at 4pm.
The hotel was beautiful. The pool area was very nice. My boyfriend and I decided to sit on the beach and wait until it was time. They gave us two beach chairs and an umbrella, which we enjoyed. The beach was wonderful. Around 11 o clock we ordered some food from the hotel restaurant. I ordered chicken tenders and fries. They didn't look too appealing but I was hungry so I ate one. When I started on the second I told my boyfriend I didn't like them and didn't want anymore. He tasted it and spit it out to realize that they were all undercooked.
They didn't charge us for the raw chicken. I felt sick and needed to go lay down. I went to the front desk to ask if there were any rooms available and the answer was still no. Periodically we would ask again and we would always get the same answer. They told us that the rooms were still being cleaned.
At 4pm, after waiting there for 7 hours, our room was finally available. I forgot to mention that there was construction going on. Some of the rooms where renovated and some not. We got a non-renovated room. It didn't look too bad. The room had a modern feel but the bathroom was outdated. I didn't mind the bathroom being outdated, but what I did mind was the dirty tub that awaited me. I waited for 7 hours because the maids where cleaning to find things still dirty.
For the rest of the trip I had a good time. So the question is would I stay here again??? I would. I loved its location, the pool area, and calmness of their area on the beach. It was close enough to south beach to walk but far enough that there wasn't any craziness. Of course I'd never be able to eat there again and I'd request a renovated room."

"Stayed 6 days, not too bad but not for the price I paid. Reserved for $110 per night but was not advised that there was a standard room and premier room. Difference is premier is renovated (but no where near the level you would expect). Paid an extra $100 a night or $600 for our trip to stay away from the regular rooms that looked like they were homeless shelters; sorry but needs to be stated.
Staff was friendly, but about 20% of them were rude or complaining about their employment their.
Downstairs bar wasn't good! Bartender never there. If I had to do it all over again, would have looked elsewhere. However, it was still fun and a great location for beach access. So, pluses and minuses . . . i'd give my experience a 6 out of 10."

The Shelborne is on 18th and Collins which is a bit far away from all the fun and crowds on Ocean Drive....however the walk is annoying especially in the heat so keep that in mind
Close to Lincoln Rd and to Walgreens to pick up anything that you may need.
For the price and value I would recommend the Shelborne South Beach"

"The rooms are DIRTY. Staff especially is rude and disrespectful more concern with friends and non-guest. $ 25 resort fee each night and parking is $ 35 a night. Breakfast-1 muffin and crossiant. They charge you tax on everything individually rather then at the end of your bill. Their were never any beach towels at the pool. "Great Location, Great price, Friendly Staff, this is South Beach Miami, so dont expect familiy or kid amenities. The entrance is very cosmo almost like a red carpet feel, the staff is great and attended all my needs, man at Concierge Desk is very professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and provided very insightful suggestions in a city that can get overwhelming. Front desk very friendly. Beautiful pool. Wonderful Experience. I sugest going with premium room through bookit and have a look at the rooms upon arrival to see what tickles your fancy picking the wrong room can make or break your vacation and that applies to hotels. Long story short I was very happy with my stay. Loved the pool parties, again your in South Beach not Disneyland. "

"Staff was rude, room wasn't clean upon arrival. The view was amazing I can't complain about that, but the $25 resort fee is a joke. Their breakfast is a joke, they add gratuity to everything then complain because you don't tip them after they do a horrible job. There were never towels available for pool or beach. My last day, I had to chase the waiter at the beach around the hotel to pay him for my order, and when I couldn't find him, they sent another guy to find him, he charged me for orders on my credit card I had already paid him cash for then added his gratuity to it. rnTheir front desk girl Gabriella kep hanging up on me anytime I called the front desk and she would say she would call me back and never once did. After I went downstairs and confronted her she laughed in my face and handed me off to the concierge who was actually nice and helpful, but I travel a lot and had never faced staff so rude and disrespectful. "The hotel should be ashamed of themselves for the way this hotel is run. The rooms DO NOT look anything like the photos on their web site!!! We were moved because our original room was so run down and dirty that we complained to several different staff members and then a manager. The room the 'upgraded' us to was not that much better. There were a total of 11 individuals in our party so we had the opportunity to look at 6 different rooms - they were all awful - NONE of them look like the rooms on the website. The rooms are TOO small for 4 adults. The continental breakfast is a joke (really!!! is someone supposed to get full on a Danish, mini muffin and a croissant)? They ran out of towels at the beach and at the pool (yes, we had to air dry) and this is after paying the 'mandatory' resort fee. We were harassed by security when bringing food/drinks down to the beach as if it were illegal. We had to BUY extra chairs to accommodate everyone in our room on the beach as they only give 2 chairs per room with the resort fee. This place is only renovated in the lobby, restaurant, shop, bar, pool (all common areas). The rooms are a DUMP. I don't know how else to describe this place - DO NOT STAY HERE/!!!!!"

"let me just begin by saying I never write comments nor have I ever had the urge to have everyone considering staying at this hotel know how horrible it is. We moved rooms 4 times. the room we got when we checked in was a dump hole. roof was collapsing, old, dirty , washroom had stains on floor and shower. I called downstairs and complained, we went to the second room which was a little better but still disgusting. I went downstairs and asked what happened to the rooms I saw online and reason I booked at this hotel to be told that those are renovated rooms and when booking with any type of site not with hotel you risking getting the old not renovated rooms. I was told if I wanted to upgrade there would be a charge per night. we decided to go ahead with the upgrade. we steped out as for room was being ready and cleaned. we get back move once again to find the new renovated, upgrade room dirty, I once again went downstairs to complain and got switched once again to the fourth and last room. our third day they had pool party and we got major attitude from the bouncers and hassel to get in and out of the hotel. the last night was the worst of all experience and why I feel people need to stay away. we came back to hotel to find a COCKAROCH in our bathroom. as we complained the manager was rude and told us that IT'S MIAMI AND COCKAROCHES ANYWHERE YOU STAY and two guys coming in who were guest decided to get involved and yelling at us and one almost hit my girlfriend and manager did nothing or said anything to them as there were two security guards standing by as because the manger called security on us, which I wanna add on two girls who just found COCKAROCH in there bathroom. we left hotel that night, didnt sleep there, did not get refund for leaving day early, spend a whole day in two diffrent airports trying to get home early. this is the first ever worse experience ive ever had at a hotel and hope people read this and DONT BOOK WITH THIS HOTEL!!!"

The hotel is Grand and Beautiful, and its right in the middle of all the South Beach action, I highly recommend this hotel, Talk to the night manager, she will totally take care of u!!"

"Let me begin by saying that this is the first negative review of an establishment that I have ever written (and I have written many positive reviews); however, I feel it is necessary to more accurately describe this hotel. The common facilities of the hotel are adequate (i.e.: pool, lobby). The rooms are completely run down. Not just run down for a prime location South Beach hotel. Our bed was broken (not uncomfortable - broken), the bathroom was small, dirty, had mold, and the shower had an uneven temperature - the water would become hot and scalding intermittently during the shower. After the first night, we complained to the front desk and, after being passed around to 3 different people; we were told 'engineering' would come to the room to evaluate - however that never happened. It seemed as though there was nobody managing the hotel - rather, the staff seemed like a group of young adults who show up to work and work in an unsupervised manner. For example, the front desk personnel would text on their phones while helping you or engage in personal banter with co-workers while you waited for them to finish. Lastly, we asked for ice to be brought to the room (there are no ice machines on site) and it took 3 calls and 90 minutes to get the ice (in a dirty bucket). The location is fantastic - very close to Lincon Road and some top hotels and restaurants in the area; but, unfortunately, that is where the value of this hotel ends."

"Just returned last night from Miami...our stay was wonderful. I do not have any complaints. The $25 fee per night for chairs, umbrella, towels and breakfast was money well spent. The location is perfect for walking everywhere. We were dropped off by taxi and walked a short distance to great restaurants. I would highly recommend this hotel and can't wait until I can escape and go back."

"If it wasn't for the beautiful beachfront view, we probably wouldn't have continued our stay here. That was pure luck that we got such a great room with a view. It was clean and had a fridge and microwave but the downside was the very thin walls. Every time the woman above us walked around with her heels on it was highly annoying. We had to pay a daily rate of $25pp which included wifi, a happy hour drink, continental breakfast and beach chairs that was only for two guests. Any additional guest was $15 and since we had 3 guests they would charge the third guest an additional cost for a simple beach chair, umbrella or breakfast. The beach was clean and the weather was great!! The staff was overly friendly which was strange and they could never give direct answers to any questions which was frustrating. Oh and don't ask where the gym is bc no one knows. I would call it a fitness area not a gym. Try not to go to the pool or beach after 3 they run out of towels and make you check them in and out, that is if you're lucky enough to get one or two. The lack of communication was frustrating. They don't advertise events or keep you in the loop. There was a big pool party saturday and we only new about it from the waiter. Overall I was not impressed with Miami. There weren't that many good places to eat except for Sushi Samba. That place was fresh and affordable. I found a lot of places to be overpriced with just ok service. Gratuity was already added to every check so be careful because they don't tell you and you will end up over tipping. It was hard to get into clubs without being on a guest list or paying a $30 cover. Luckily we met some nice locals which clued us in on some things of how places work. We refused to be judged based on our appearance and attire that's such BS. I would recommend Nikki Beach. Drinks were affordable and the music was good for a Sunday night. Overall I wasn't impressed with Miami. I would not go back."

"The Hotel is beautiful and have great parties at the pool! BUT.... the service is very bad!!! We had an additional guest and we paid a lot of money and fees for him that based on the hotel policy include beach chairs, cocktails and other stuff, well.... when we went to the beach they didn't want to give me an additional chair for the guest, they want me to pay $ 10 dollars more for the chair. '2 beach chairs for room' and the cocktail the same thing '2 cocktail driks per room' that's not fair specially when you are paying a lot of money. The Roll Away, after we paid in advance they told me at the looby, the hotel don't warranty if there are availabe or not. The website shows the check in is at 3:000pm and the real time is at 4:00pm and also the website shows the parking is $30 and the real amount is $35. The continental breakfast is a joke!! just 4 pieces of bread. I don't recommend this hotel to anyone. There are better hotels in Miami Beach!!"

"My room was recommended for the view and the quaint suite-like accommodations. One very accommodating manager arranged the room for me and offered us free drinks while waiting. The bartender was awesome and really welcomed me. i had no idea what I was in for. A wobbly bed, messy toilets, prior guests trash left in room, NO PHONE CONNECTION and no one answered the front desk when I'd call from my cell, poor water pressure, overflowing sink, my BF and I literally shared a washcloth for 3 days because house keeping refused to bring us new rags until day 3, no matter how many times I'd complain at the front desk and they'd tell me it would be taken care of. (Once they arrived, II was already packed to leave). The elevator near room 711 constantly makes noises all day and night. The floor smells like a dog convention was held there. I tried speaking with the concierge who cut me off and literally started dialing on his phone while i spoke, insisting that we get 'clean linens immediately,' but that wasn't even the half. then the manager heard my cries TWICE and his statement to me was, 'I told them to take care of it, I don't think housekeeping is lying.' :/ The best compliment I can give is that one lady was extra nice and always seemed concerned about my comfort and my stay there. They refunded me for one night. This hotel seems a deal if you plan to stay on the Collins strip spend literally no time in the room, just to change and leave."

"Not what I expected! The outside of the Hotel is beautiful! The pool area is very nice and the concierge was very friendly. My hotel room which was on the 9th FL, was a MESS. They were still renovating rooms, including mine. The room was outdated, the toilet is Old, the seat cover doesnt fit the toilet, the sink faucet when you turn it off or on, the handle comes right off in your hand. The shower had paint splatches in it and the shower head was short, so if you are tall like me you have to bend down to wash your hair! Every minute or two you will get a burst of extremely Hot water while showering. The walls when you walked in were covered in plaster and not even painted over yet. The wicker furniture looked bad, the sofa had stains on it. The fan didnt even work, the TV was Old and hard to work. The pool towels and seat covers had stains on them. I was disappointed for the money I paid, not to mention the $25 a day Resort Fee, which by the way the 'Continental Breakfast' is muffins and danishes and if you want to buy breakfast at their restaraunt it is $15.00 for One Egg Sandwich. Happy Hour - is a fake, it is only your first well drink that you get is free. I would not stay at this hotel again."

"From the time time they bring you to your unkempt room that looks like it hasn't been cleaned since 1988 when motley crew stayed there, to the unfriendly, un helpful staff, the hotel was a dump! New renovations! Yeah maybe just the lobby to sucker you in! They took us to five separate rooms each with a different charming smell or issue! We finally settled on the room with the rusted bathroom, painted over rotted door, gum on the floor, holes in the chair, stains on the sheets, roof falling in around air conditioning intake! We then showed the bellman the picture of 'our room' from book it an he said that he had never seen a room like that at this hotel! I'm sure he hadn't! Oh and go ahead and start throwing added or hidden fees that you don't tell people about until check out like the resort fee and the $35 parking fee for one day! It's the biggest dump in south Florida! Did I mention the bed bugs?!"

"The outside is Beautiful, the pool area, and the lobby. My room on the 9th Floor was under construction. When i walked in there was patches on the walls, not even painted over yet. The bathroom sink the faucet kept coming off when you turned it on or off. The shower kept getting hot, the toilet seat cover didnt fit. NOT AT ALL WHAT I WAS EXPECTING. The key card wouldnt work and they had to fix it twice. The $25 resort fee is rediculous. Your 'Continental Breakfast' is muffins and danish. Happy Hour is only your First well drink. The furniture in the room is cheap. The sofa had stains on it. The Towels for the pool area and seat covers all had stains on them. I was quite dissappointed."

"The Shelborne has a good location right on the beach. Expect to pay $35 per day for parking plus a $25 per day resort fee. The staff is friendly but slow. We stood in line at the checkin desk an saw the three people working the desk just walk away for 5 minutes, no sense of urgency. Every Saturday they have a day party until 6pm and reserve ALL the pool side seating for party goers who pay $500 plus minimum. Hotel guest can go to the pool but can't sit anywhere despite your resort fee. You get a free continental breakfast but you better ask, it is not on the menu. You get a free evening drink but you better ask for it before 7pm or forget it. They have two for one at the pool bar but check your bill, they forget or seem not to understand. This hotel has NO ice machine so get a bag at the store down the street. Our room had a microwave and small refrigerator which was nice but I think was the exception This is an old hotel, updated contemporary lobby decor with old plumbing but it worked. Great hotel for the younger 20 to 30 something single or couples, leave the kids at home."

"THE SHELBORNE SOUTH BEACH WAS A TRIP TO HELL FOR ME. This was to be my BIRTHDAY trip which was a nightmare. Upon arriving at the Shelborne South Beach the outside was okay. Once inside things changed, our first room 1601 was a room from hell. It smell, the room was dirty, chairs were broken, beds were dirty, noisey and the bathroom was a hell hole. I went back to the front desk inform them that I was not staying in there. I was inform that I could get another room ready in three hours. So two-three hour later we recieved keys to another room 406. Room 406 was a little better, the doors was cracked with hole in it,the shower didnt have a shower door and slippery almost slip while showering. The room didnt have rack in the bathroom for towels or your clothes. The breakfast for two was a joke as well as the rooftop fitness center that was a part of your resort fee ($25.00)each day extra.I could go on and on about The Shelborne hotel for HELL. I have no interest in returning to The Shelborne South Beach ever again even if I was to be paid or it was free. I would never stay here again."

"This hotel was HORRIBLE!! We switched rooms 4 times and finally wound up in a decent room. I am not picky at all, but the first room had a disgusting bathroom, rusty, moldy, tub that didn't drain. They next 2 rooms had gross moldy carpet and filthy bathrooms. They finally put us on the 16th, which was in the process of being renovated, which was a crap job by the way. But at least we had a balcony with an amazing view. The manager and other representatives at the front desk didn't say much, they just kept moving us. No apology, no discount, nothing, they were just there. Don't stay here-- don't do it, you will thank me. Promise."

"First off just came back yesterday from South Beach. We stayed at the Shelbourne from the pictures the Hotel looked amazing but once you entered the rooms it was like Norman Bates house. So dirty from the carpets, to mold in the bathroom, plumbing was awful, etc. We had to switch rooms. The other room wasn't that much of a difference but since we were only there for 2 nights didn't want to switch anymore. I get back from trip and started to sort out my bills when I saw that they had put a hold on my card for $150.00 not a $100.00 like the guy said. Not only that they charged me $10.95 for I don't know for what. First off this was all paid in full so there should not be a hold on the card cause the card I used was on file just in case I charged something to the room. Secondly, we had called them the night before we were leaving to find out when check out was and we also asked how much late check out cost they told us $50 the night manager said to my friend will you pay with CC or Cash my firend said if we do we will pay in cash but forget it for now. What do you think happens they charged me for a late check out. The day manager said there is nothing he can do. As far as the hold on the credit it's gonna take them 5 days to get the card off hold totally not cool.
The only thing nice about the Shelbourne is the Lobby and the pool other than that it was awful.."

"I recently had a very comfortable stay at The Shelborne Hotel in South Beach Florida. I had to compliment them on their bedding that was super soft and of the highest quality I have ever experienced in any hotel. I always find it hard in hotels to get a good nights sleep when the pillows are not comfortable, but that was not the case with yours. I must compliment your company on a job well done. I will definetly return."

"I booked an ocean view king room and the only view that I had was of the 3rd floor roof! On the secind night of our stay we were kept awake until 4:30am by people screaming in the hallways, slamming doors and swearing throughout the halls. Despite many calls to the front desk- first call at 12:15am and last call at 3:30am..the noise continued. I offered to change rooms at around 1;30am and I was told that the large group of teenagers were scattered throughout the hotel and they could not gaurantee a floor any quieter. Afetr 5 hours of sleep the front desk called our room 3 times starting at 10 am to notify us that checkout was at noon!!! At checkout I was charged for 3 nights of valet parking when it was only 2. After being talked to like I was an idiot, I returned to the desk to speak with another member of the staff and it was finally corrected. I will never return to this place again!"

"Our stay at the Shelborne was very interesting. We arrive around 2:00 PM in the afternoon looking forward to some beach time and relaxing after catching a very early flight. Our first impression was excellent as the outside and lobby area was beautiful! First, we experienced the broken down elevator that took 5 minutes to arrive, then proceeded to stop at each floor on its way up (with no one getting on) to the 14th floor. Second, we get to our room and the keys did not work. Bailing on the elevator, I took the stairs to the bottom that lead to an outdoor ally. After being lost and frustrated, I walked around to the front desk where they reactivated the cards. There was no apologies, etc. for the inconvenience. Braving the elevator again, we finally arrived in our city king bedroom - the smell and stains on the bed were enough to scare mice away! The room looked like something out of a horror movie......So calling the front desk, they told me that if we checked in between 4 and 6 they could get me a room that did not smell - thanks. We hauled all of our luggage back down the lovely elevator and I explained to the front desk why we could not stay in the room. Again, they took my keys (not saying a word), gave me another room immediately, and sent me on my way. No apologies for anything! Now on the 10th floor and losing our wits with the elevator, we arrived to a room that was not out dated, did not smell, and there were no stains on the bedding!!
There was a lot of construction still occurring during our stay and the second elevator was fixed halfway through to prevent waiting what seemed like forever. They both were very dirty from workers going up and down all day long. The pool area was beautiful and the beach was exactly what we wanted. We determined if we were never to experience the horrible first 6 hours at the hotel, the Shelborne would have been a keeper. But, after little staff hospitality/friendliness, a worker walking right into our room while we were showering to check the mini bar, closing down the bar/beach area on the most beautiful day, cleanliness of the first room, I could not give the best of reviews.
I put staff friendliness at 3 because the guy at the beach house was amazing and the concierge was very helpful finding a super bowl party. I am sure that everyone's experience is different, but we had a bad first impression. I would stay here again IF I was given a proper room with a smile :)"

"We had a great time at the Shelborne. There are renovations going on but it was not a huge inconvenience as they only worked during the day when we were usually out of the room. We had an updated room that was really nice. The pool was closed for renovations, but we could use the pool next door (it was kind of dingy but it worked). Staff was friendly and helpful. Bookit gave us a great deal by waiving the $25/day fee due to the renovations going on =) The hotel is in a great location.
I rated the cleanliness only as 3 because of the renovations there was a lot of dust/trash lying around the hotel hallways, but the room itself was clean."

"Stayed at the Shelborne for labor day weekend. I've stayed here a few times before. This time, on short notice, I recieved a call by bookit about the resort being under major construction. Mainly the front driveway, certian floors/rooms and the entire outside pool/lounge area. Bookit/Shelborne tried to accomadate me with a room upgrade(I received this the next day of my stay), free resort fee, 2 hr free drinks, 30% off chair umbrella for the beach, and we could use the pool resort next store. This was all cool to me, the only real issue was the pool/lounge setup at the Continential resort compared to the Shelborne. The Continential pool/lounge area is very outdated and unattractive, so we didnt use it, kinda missed the Shelborne option, but made do with the beach. If I knew before hand about the work being done, I might would have chosen another resort for the trip this time. Shelborne is still cool to me, good location, and the staff made up for some of the missing peices. I'll return there when the work is alll done. Thanks........ also bookit.com(love u guys lol) I'll shall return..."
