"We had 2 rooms while booking at this hotel because the first room was frankly terrible. Although the decor of the overall building is decent, our room had tons of ants, a washroom door that wouldn't lock, various cracks/dirt everywhere, and stains on walls/towels/blankets. After switching rooms, we still saw a lot of cracks and stains, but it was a decent stay. The staff were great at helping out, but make sure to get this place at a low price for a worthy stay!"

"My overall stay was ok.. when I arrived our room was in the building. It was very dark in the building and had a musty smell. The following morning we woke up to find bugs all over the bathroom and covering our toothbrushes. The bugs were also in the safe, covering my purse. The front desk quickly changed our room and building we were in. Other then the 'bug' issue, our trip was great. The staff were all friendly and the roof top pool was a lot of fun."

"My stay at the Catalina was good. I was very hesitant at 1st to book due to mix reviews but I can say I had a pleasent stay. Rooms were clean, beds were comfty, the staff were pleasent & the price was great. Great location to beach, Ocean Drive & the night life of Washington Ave. I do wish the shuttle operated more frequently & earlier. I would definitely suggest this hotel to other ppl."

"Very nice hotel! Great location. Super friendly and helpful staff! Well organised suttle service to airport and different city attaractions. Even though it is an older building, they have made it look nice and stylish. I did not mind the one smelly carpet in one of the hallways, because everything else was very nice. My friends and I enjoyed staying there very much."

"My friend and I had a fabulous time at the Hotel! We met lots of new friends at Happy Hour, which we really enjoyed! The bartenders at Happy Hour were FABULOUS, they really made the time worthwhile. I would not reccommend Maxines resturaunt as the service was horrible, and the food was just 'okay'. I would check out Sushi Samba down on Lincoln Ave along with Nexxt they were amazing! The beach was great and I especially loved that we were able to get chairs each day we were there. I woud recommend this hotel to anyone looking for some fun!"

"The floors where dirty and sticky when walking bare footed in the room. The bathroom had mole. The light was red! Why red? It made the room too dark for comfort. The snacks in the room were not only for sale, but rather expensive. Overall, the room was only for sleeping and getting dressed for the road. The pools were fun and relaxing, the staff was very polite and professional. I did hate the fact that I had to return the bicycle by 1800 (6pm) and that the pool gets closed by 2000 (8pm)."

"Upon check-in I asked for the quietest room and they said they had the perfect room for me. Yeah right, next to the pool and the pool's speaker system was right outside my window. I hardly slept any at this hotel. I know this is Miami Beach and most people are at this hotel to party, but some people aren't and they can't seem to accommodate this.
The housecleaning department needs retraining or something because making the bed and putting new towels in a room doesn't count as cleaning. They left the trashes full, sand from the beach was still on the floor and on the table (ooops our beach bag left a little there). They also never took the old shampoo and gel out and never restocked it either. However they always left the little cart in our hallway and we just helped ourselves to new shampoo and gel for that day, but forget about me taking out the trash. I used an old pair of socks to clean the table and floors.
Carpeting throughout the hotel is disgusting, that's probably why they keep the lights so dim. I'm sure they have many things growing in that carpet. Don't ask, don't tell!!!
Service is just okay, slow at times, but good drinks. Food is average.

I did sit in the Maxine's bar area the last day and the staff was confused as to who's section it was so no one ever came to serve me. I finally had to ask for a drink because I was thirsty. Small detail, but a detail worth mentioning."

"Our bag was stolen from our locked room while we were at dinner. Management did nothing to help.

Saw crushed cockroach in hallway, bathroom was dirty, and hip-hop in public spaces obnoxiously loud.

A terrible, terrible experience. I cannot understand positive reviews here. It's a sub-par hotel in every way epecially considering the other hotel options on the same street.

Take care of your things if you decide to stay there - you have been warned :-(."

"I've been going to Miami Beach since 1982 and I just had my best time! Thanks to the awesome staff. Everyone there, 'Thanks!' Shuttle to and from! Happy Hour 7-8pm. Bikes. Pools. Action. Drinking. Dancing. Drinking. Pooling. Swimming. Biking. Shopping. Dining. Drinking. Next day: Do it again! I Love Miami Beach and I Love this hotel for making my trip to South Beach exactly what a Miami Beach Experience should be! My Wife loved it! Romantic. Sunny. Just right. As I've said, I've been coming here for a long time and where the hotel is located on South Beach is the perfect location: If you bike, as close to the most awesome bike path ever; very beginning of Lincoln Road for shopping; just above Ocean Drive; and One block from the Atlantic. I like things a little 'hipper' and this hotel has created a very comfortable laid back but efficient atmosphere. Anyway, I just really like their presentation. Thanks again to all. I'd advise staying here. Go with the flow. Remember, 'I'm in Miami Beach'."

"The only good thing about this hotel was location, for the price you can stay at much cleaner, bigger and better hotels. I would not stick my head inside their pools, very dirty, go up to the roof top pool and there are more drug dealers there than beach chairs, you asked for a review and you got it. I would never recommend this place to anyone."

"Over the span of my 4 night trip, I had to switch rooms four times because of dirty bathrooms, pungent odors and BUGS IN THE BED. Had to stay in another friends room at a different hotel for 2 of those nights. Enjoyed Miami but DISLIKED the Catalina."

"I highly recommend this hotel for a cost effective pleasant and tasteful stay at Miami Beach. The staff at the rooftop pool were efficient and friendly. The concierge staff (a young lady) was tremendously helpful and went out of her way to arrange bikes and tell us about the area.

"I was initially concerned about the reviews i read but decided to stay anyway -- First the staff of the motel were all very nice, very friendly and helpful. The next best thing about the hotel was the great location, free happy hour but somewhat limited in the drinks that they offered. The beds were quite nice temperpedic and the room was quite because I asked to stay toward the rear of the hotel....The free shuttle to and from the airport was great. The rooftop pool and sun beds were the highlight of the trip....

The worst thing about the hotel is that it suffers from being an old beach hotel, not well kept up -- places in the room need paint, the floor creaked and the granite and tile work were generally poorly done, the halls were dark and had poor ventilation.(smelled). Also my wife freaked out when she saw two roaches....

I loved South Beach and Miami but i would probably look to stay somewhere else. There were a few that were compareably priced hotels but were right on the beach. Having said all the above -- we still had a wonderful time......."

"The staff is super attentive and friendly; were helped with our luggages and the doors were always opened for us. You get to relax by one of the two pools. If you want to go to the beach (which is right across the street) you get free beach towels and lounge chairs. The food is very tasty; there's a happy hour between 7-8 and drinks are free. My husband and I were not ready to check out at 11am and we had no problems to extend our check out to 12pm. Highly recommended:)"

"The hotel was great! It rained for half my stay but their bar was just like being in a club and their restaurants decent. So the weather didn't completely ruin my trip. The hotel had a pool party the day before i left and that was great. This hotel is definitely a party hotel. Not for family or people looking for peace and quite."

"Double room with 3 girls was more than enough for our long weekend to South Beach. Every single staff member was more than friendly and helpful. They allowed us to check in early with no problem along with allowing us to stay an extra hour at check out. Location was awesome. Rooftop pool was relaxing. Maxine's and sushi restaurant were delicious and nightly specials were even better! I would recommend this hotel to anyone!! Young fun vibe and staff promotes nothing but a spectacular experience!"

"We wanted a quick getaway before the summer ended so we booked for 4 days and nights...3 girls in thier mid-twenties on thier last summer vacation.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel was always clean. We booked the Budget Room..a little too small but we didnt even spend that much time in the hotel room with South Beach 1 block away. Our view was a little depressing, it was a wall lol.

Happy hour was amazing! The music is very good. We preferred Maxines bar; it was spacious and classy. Ask for Marcelo the bartender...hes the best!

The sushi restaurant is delicious! Im a big sushi fan, so i approve.

We got complimentary beach towels and two free lounge chairs for the beach. The umbrella was $15.00 (not too bad).

Theres a walgreens and CVS right around the corner in case we needed anything.

10-15 minute walk to Ocean Drive.

Maxines bar has a party bus offer. For $40.00 you get to go to Nikki Beach (the best club there) with a limo ride and free drinks from 9-11pm at Maxines. I definately recommend that deal. DO NOT take the deal from the hotel itself, they will rip you off. Just take it from Maxines.

"The staff was beyound friendly, food and drinks were great!! the only problem I encounter was no hot water in my room when I arrived but they accommodated me and upgraded my room. The only thing i suggest is more LIGHTING in the hallways. Its very dark and gloomy which I would recommend no walking alone throughout the night if your alone."
