"The Casa Grande is really a nice hotel; I was so surprised since with Ocean Drive hotels you never know what to expect. The easiest way to describe it is as a boutique hotel that feels like a regular large-size chain. If you've stayed anywhere on Ocean Drive, and I've stayed in many on & off-'strip' (Hotel Ocean, Beacon, Congress, Winterhaven, Colony, Loews, Fontainbleau), you already know that even if your room is big, the hallways or the elevator are going to be cramped. --Not so with the Casa Grande: the lobby, the corridors, even the elevator are all luxuriously-sized, including the beautiful suite I had.
The living space and kitchen were incredible, and the bedroom and bath equally 'living worthy'. (I've been in some Miami hotels where the whole thing was nicely sized but the bathroom was a shoebox.)
The staff were very pleasant and accommodating, and I even got a 'Miami rarity': I asked to stay 1 more night (Sun) beyond my reservation, and they offered my nearly the same rate!
Downsides: If you've read reviews here, just note that there is a nightly 'resort fee' added, on top of taxes & valet (if you are parking a vehicle). Not a big deal if you go in knowing about it; but I could see it being upsetting if you were not prepared. When I arrived, there valet offered me a discount on the week's charge if I paid cash up-front (something the front desk staff confirmed). I accepted and it all worked out ok, but it was really weird and I was afraid of a double-charge. That did not happen, but I've just never had a Miami valet ask me to drop him $100 up-front for a 4-night stay vs charging to the room.
Lastly, while I loved the hotel and the people, and would definitely recommend it & consider returning, the grandeur of their fine room & service is let down by 1 very silly thing (which I hope they will read & heed): stingy on towels and tissues. You get 2 towels for shower (and only got a mat on my 3rd night), and two small face towels for the sink, and NO facial tissues, and they wait until your shower soap has almost disintegrated before replacing.
I realize that the price of the hotel was a great value during WMC week (which the prices have really gotten INSANE for), but it's such a silly letdown for Casa Grande to be frugal on."

"My trip for World Baseball Classic was a great experience. Couldn't ask for a better location, weather and staff . The hotel rooms I stayed in were 1 bedroom suites, all spacious enough for at least 6 people in each room. Excellent time, great staff, all were very helpful and they go out of their way to make sure you can have a great time. As for my friends and I, we are looking forward to returning to the hotel and SOBE."

"It's probably one of the best location for the price and guy at front desk was super nice. The deposit for the room (300$) is a lot, probably related to spring breakers who came before. I don't see why they charge us 25$ of resort fee:wifi was bad, breakfast(cookies) gone before the end of the morning and beach towels are kinda small.
Be advised that check-in is at 4PM, but they kept our luggage at desk to let us enjoy the beach. The rooms are large but very out of date(except fo the tv and safe) with uncomfortable beds.
As for cleanliness, you get what you paid for: very average like others said and unfortunately I had to kill a cokcroach that was sitting in the bathtub(came from the drain since the shower doors were closed). Housekeeping was not very effective, they did not wash dishes and came late the next day 3PM. They only did the beds. Finally, water heater was good enough for 2 showers, unfortunately we are a family of four.
In short, great price if you are looking for a place on Ocean dr, but be advised that you can probably get a better hotel if you are willing to go a little further."

"We stayed at the Casa Grande Suites on February 20th and our experience was better than last year which was great! We had a beautiful suite with a full kitchen, dining room and balcony to sit on and enjoy the warm air of SOBE.. The kitchen had a full size fridge, microwave, oven and dishwasher for those who want to save some money and cook inside instead of eat out all of the time. There is also glasses, pans for the oven etc. This hotel is right on Ocean drive in the heart of SOBE. There is no restaurant/bar under this hotel which makes it easier for sleeping. Bring ear plugs just in case. The service at this hotel has been great that last 2 years. They provide chairs, beach towels to use at the beach which is right across the street. In the morning there is coffee, oranges and cookies to have for breakfast. It is nothing like a nice full breakfast but it is something to hold you over until you can function to get out for breakfast if you had a late night :) Anything is better than nothing which a lot of other hotels don't offer or even have a bar fridge in the hotel rooms. If you decide to stay at Casa Grande you won't be disappointed (hopefully) we were not in either of our stays. Enjoy"

"Okay there were some things I LOVED about this hotel and then there were things I couldn't stand. First let me say that I had an AMAZING time down there last week, as I went there for my birthday. The hotel is right in the middle of everything! and across from the beach. Our suite was VERY nice with a living room, bedroom, kitchen and even a gorgeous view from our balacony. I think housekeeping could have done a better job though of cleaning, but that's just me. When we first arrived the staff was kinda rude, no one really greeted us as we walked in and the resort fees are hidden and ridiculous but I corrected that quickly, compromised on fees and it seemed like the staff got nicer by the days lol Hmmm i'm not sure if I would give it a 5, but I would give it a 5 based on location and the suite we had. As far as staff friendliness and fees I would say you can definitely find better in SOBE"

We had a wonderful time with everything except the cleanliness of the hotel. I spilled coffee the first of a six day stay and the stain on the tile floor was still there when we left. Location perfect/ Staff very friendly and I would recommend it to people who are not clean freaks.

"As many of the other guests mentioned, great location right on Ocean Drive but other than that not worth the cheap price! Rude staff, unreasonable daily resort fee, and dirty/gross rooms. The rooms are large but very out of date with uncomfortable beds, smelly odors, stained floors, and scummy bathrooms. The hallway to our room was under construction with tape all over the palce. When we checked in the front desk clerk tried to promote some sketchy 'nightlife' experience that they clearly get paid a cut for. When we asked for our bags to be held behind the desk until our flight (a standard practice?) the owner acted like it was a huge inconvenience. Also housecleaning did not even come for one of the days we were there. I cannot stress enough, DO NOT STAY HERE. There are so many hotels on ocean drive and though it may seem like a bargain, you certainly get what you pay for - a filthy hotel with the rudes people imaginable. When you factor in the outrageous resort fee (for cardboard-like cookies and weak coffee every morning), you might as well stay somewhere else!!!!! Very dissapointed."

"The location of this hotel was great! Other than that our experience at this hotel was awful. The staff was rude. We were very upset from day 1. We arrived with the hotel only having us booked for 1 night when we paid for 4. After that was corrected they charged us a ridiculous deposit fee of $300 for the duration of our stay. After that they also charged us a resort fee of $25 a day which they stated was for coffee, cookies , and the towels for the beach. I have never heard of such. What really upset about this fee was when we came down in the morning there was no sugar for the coffee and on a return trip for some more coffee there wasn't any and when we asked them to make some more they had an attitude and it took an hour and a half before it was made. Miami was beautiful but this hotel was awful...don't think we will return to this hotel again!"

"Casa Grande is nice, rooms clean, very large, staff able to get me room w/2 beds, super late check-in with staff was friendly. Still doing some remodeling, bathrooms kind of old but clean. Great location but not enough time, next trip will stay longer. Big problem with valet taking something out of our car - rental car so we didn't have anything else in there. Valet company swears its not one of their employees but the phone charger didn't just walk away. Only left the charger in there because it's very difficult to get out but someone had time to do it. Not the hotels fault but they should know that valet company has trouble."

"Online described this as a luxurious south Beach oasis with premium amenities. Well, the location was great but who ever the owner is they should consider not misleading customers with their description of their hotel. Because we tried to check in early we were first given a room which we walked into and then right back out of. Told front desk we could not stay there. He put us in another room and OMG it was better but not much. I do not think the carpets have ever been vacuumed. We watched the housekeeper sweeping the carpet with a broom, no vacuum to be seen. We were afraid to take off our shoes the carpets were so filthy with stains everywhere. Pulled the comforter back on the bed and the sheets looked like they had been taken out of a bag and put on the bed all wrinkled. We just prayed we they did not have bed bugs. There was no clock radio and the remote for the television did not work. The bathroom, my husband would not even shower in it. The tile which was white at some point was so dirty we put a towel down to walk on the floor. Then there are the amenities. We were charged $25 for coffee, cookies & oranges in the lobby and towels for the beach if needed and wifi. We understand there are standard amenities but to be charged $25 a day was ridiculous. Because we had booked online we could not get a refund so unfortunately we were forced to stay there."

I have never been treated so rudely and I will not be returning to these suites. It kind of ruined my image of Miami as well.

"We booked this trip very last minute not knowing what to expect. The Casa Grande was very nice and we had a great time despite having a storm affect the beach weather we were looking forward to. The location of this particular hotel was right in the middle of Ocean Drive. Perfect location for us as we did not have a car. You walk out the front door and you are right in the middle of everything. It is right across the street from the beach and Park area. We rented the Decobikes and rode all the way down to Lincoln Rd and Collins Ave and Washington Rd. You don't need a car when you go to South Beach unless you want to go to Biscayne Bay or downtown Miami. For that you can take a taxi too.
We were very surprised to get there and find out that there was a $25 a day charge. We still don't know exactly what that paid for. We were expecting the usual hotel ammenities like a room safe and a hair dryer and there were none. They did have oranges which was a nice little touch but you had to go to the lobby for them. They also provided us with beach towels when needed but those two little extras should have been free in our opinion.
Overall the room was nice and comfortable. Having a little kitchen area is nice too. I think we would stay there agian in the future unless we found another hotel without the daily charges."

"This place was ok for the 4 days we were in Miami. The first front desk person we met was a little rude. In a way 'barking' what he needed from us to check in. The $25 a day fee for oranges, cookies, and coffee is a joke! You also have to pay $25 a day for valet parking if you have a car with you which really i suppose you find it costs that anywhere on Ocean Front Dr. They also charge/hold $150 a day for incidentals and that was upsetting. Apparently you get it placed back on your card at the end of your stay but what if some people can't handle that kind of charge because that is the card they plan to use for the trip and do not have room to have that kind of charge added. The room was nice and clean. The bed was hard to sleep on. The first night we showered and I had thrown the towels on the floor for fresh towels and the next day I reached for a towel and they were both still wet. I could tell they had just folded them up and re-hung them. I called the front desk and told them what happen and she was very appologetic and brought fresh towels right away. The lamps in the living room did not work, we could not turn on any light. The kitchen was nice to have. My parents stayed in another hotel and said Casa Grande was a lot nicer then what they were staying at. We were just between a park and the beach. There is no 'private area' for the hotel like it says. I never saw a spa either. Also being right on Ocean drive in the night life was fun. The fees were what bothered us most. Overall, it was ok."

"I booked a double, meaning I thought there would be two beds of some kind in the room. When I arrived there was a king and a pullout. The desk clerk said I had to specifically ask for two queen beds. The room was very dated. There was a VCR in the room, no where to connect an IPhone or ITouch. The WiFi did not work in our room. They mentioned a spa in their advertisement. There is no spa, a person will come to your room is what I was told. And to add injury to insult they charged a resort fee of $25 a day for internet, cookies and fruit. The only good thing about this hotel is that it is on South Beach and was relatively cheap. I would not stay there again."

The staff at the hotel took real good care of us. He anticipated cabs for us, xtra towels etc. The room was very large, other relatives stayed at other hotels were amazed at the size of our room. The room had two large beds, chairs, a full kitchen, super large mirror-I guess the best thing I can say is everyone else were too jealous. THANK YOU SO MUCH NATHAN FOR YOUR HELP! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL. Our family will be returning again very soon!!!!!!!"

Our suite was amazing, roomy, clean with a great view of the ocean. i will certainly stay here again. my only complaint is the daily 25.00 resort fee, the room was great but this is not a resort( we were told the spa was under renovation) & there is also a 150.00 a day deposit fee which did not set well with me but we got that back.... the guy at the front desk was a absolute delight...all in all i loved our stay and will certainly return next year."

Giulia Grillo from Stockholm, Sweden
"What a terrible place! I really felt ripped off.
The accomodation was advertised for $99 a night in South Miami Beach. I was aware of the $25 resort fee and the $30 for the valet parking.
I requested a room with two double beds. Did not get it.
Got a suite that was really dirty. My teenage daughter ended up having to sleep on the sofa bed. The mattress of that sofa bed was really old and the end side of the bed was broken. The mattress of my bed (separate room) was really dirty. We only got a duvet although having two beds to cover up. In the end I had to use the blanket that was in the wardrobe: it was so filthy, I had to make sure I did not touch any parts of the blankets during the end to avoid getting the blanket's dirt on me.
Upon first arrival in the suite the bedroom was really dirty: carpets not only stained but also with fabrics remainders on it. I even found a beer cork on the floor!
The bathroom/toilet was really bad. OK it was small but it was really really dirty that one as well. Hair of different lengths could be found in the bathtub/shower area as well as around the toilet.
We wanted to cook some breakfast the next day but the three pots we found had half of the teflon gone and as everybody knows you cannot use a pot in that condition being deteriorated teflon poisoneous. There were two dinner plates and one breakfast place. Two different glasses. That's it.
We had really bad weather but the last day we had some sun so we wanted to use the resort equipment. We received two really worn out beach towels and we had to get two beach chairs from a room (perhaps the elevator engine room???). There was no assigned place to Casa Grande on the beach (while almost all other hotels had sunlounges with mattresses and people going around asking if guests wanted drinks. We had to walk to the beach with the two filthy towels and two chairs that could have easily have come from a gas station or walmart. For $25 a day I was expecting a little bit more.
We are travelling around the USA and we are aware that hotels might charge for Wi-Fi and we are ready to pay a fee. But if Casa Grande thinks they can charge their guests $25 for Wi-Fi, inexistent resort fee and few oranges by the elevator, well, I then think it's a scam.
Also, the guy at check-in was ridiculous. While checking us in he was practically hitting on one female guests and taking care of few more things. This at the same time he was pre-charging me for valet and resort fee. Well, I think that if anyone uses my credit card should at least pay attention so that he/she does not commit a mistake or over-charge me.
When I asked him about the spa (included in the $99) he answered that they don't have it anymore.
I am really upset with that hotel. I wrote a really bad review on Tripadvisor and I hope future traveller read my review and won't go there.
For the price we had to pay in the end we could have stayed in a much better hotel and have even received a much better service.

"This hotel is in a great location beachfront and in the heart of south beach. The room I stayed in had new appliances but could use an updated bathroom. Not complaining though as I didn't expect the Ritz Carlton. Hotel staff was really friendly and I had no issues during my stay. Conclusion ( Friendly, Good Location, and Good price)"

"All Maimi hotels charge a resort fee (15$ - 30), and it never includes parking, so that's not something to gripe about. I've stayed at 5 hotels in South Beach in the last 1.5yrs this place was great. I was there from 6/11 - 6/13. Our room (Deluxe Suite, 2 beds, kitchen, dinning tables seating 4;) was clean, the staff was friendly helpful & everything ran well. We checked in no problem, got beach towels, valet a car etc. The only tip i would give you is on parking. South Beach doesn't do free parking, it's like NYC. Parking garages are called Public Parking, they run about 20$ a night & you can't take you car out between nights. Valet at the Casa Grande was 35$ through the hotel, but only 25$ if you payed outside at the curb. Why? because on Ocean Drive many of the hotels outsource valet services through Assoicaited Parking & when you pay them direct outside you save the 10$. I almost let these reviews scare me off & i would have missed out. Obviously experiences vary but Hope this helped."

"The location for Casa Grande Suite Hotel is great. Our room was not clean and had a very bad smell. The internet signal was too weak and we were not able to use it. The daily $25 resort fee did not cover parking. The valet parking was another $25 per day plus tips . I will not return and recommend to a friend."

"I was surprised by the appearance of the lobby, 2 star appearance. The carpet on the 4th floor where I stayed was stained. The room itself was spacious and clean. The balcony however was full of bird droppings and really quite gross. Nice kitchen. The sofa is a leather sectional that is worn and torn in different places. One tiny soap throughout my 5 day stay. I used shampoo since I couldn't be bothered as they were so many short comings, I resigned myself. Limited on towels, since it was so hot I showered twice daily and had to reuse the towels, something I have never experienced before in a hotel. The bed is uncomfortably hard. The wood furniture look worn and is stained with cup rings, and paint peeling off. The bathroom is old fashion and it took a long time to determine how to turn off the water. Location is great and the staff are ok. The place however needs some renovations; modernized the bathroom, clean or replace the hallway carpet, get more comfortable mattress, get new sofas, clean up the balcony, supply more towels and soap and get an iron board for the room."

"The hotel met our minimal expectations for a South Beach hotel -- it was clean, modern and well-kept. The location is amazing, as others have noted. Our room one bedroom with full kitchen was very spacious and clean. However, the bathroom had tiles missing and very basic toiletries. It looked like the shampoo/conditioner bottles were previously used by other guests and they didn't put new bottles in the rooms when we came... whatever--we were only there to sleep for one night so we didn't mention it to the staff. The staff is cordial enough, but seemed misadvertised their hotel as offering on-site full service spa which is included in the hotel rate. There is no such service! This was one of the features of the hotel that sold it to us and we were really disappointed that the spa service was not available, and hasn't been available for a while. Also, read the fine print--there is an extra mandatory resort fee on top of the room cost ($25 tax) and this covers wireless internet, use of beach towels, fruit and cookies in the lobby! So in essence, there is no free internet, another one of our musts for a decent hotel."

"so a good thing, and the price was definitely reasonable. Beds were comfortable, the room clean and not too small. However, 'customer service' is not an option; there were no towels in the room and as the phone didn't work, I waited the 5 minutes it took the (only) elevator to arrive and take me back to the desk (there's NO lobby), I was told the towels were being laundered and why did i need one right away anyway?! After i explained it would have been nice to be able to dry my hands after washing them, the woman behind the desk back-petalled and said, 'oh, there are no towels at all...ummm we'll get some to you soon...' Similarly, the next morning we asked if there was info we weren't given to get wireless and were told 'no, you must be doing it wrong because it always works.' Great, thanks for your help...."

"They seem very unprofessional. Our check-in time was at 4pm and that is what time we checked in. They said it should take 10-15 min more to clean. We ended up waiting over an hour in their lobby while they cleaned. Horrible. When we finally got to our room, it was very spacious, but not so clean. Very outdated and dirty bathroom and kitchen. The only thing good about this place was that it was very convenient to get around. Other then that this was a horrible place to stay at."

"What a great time! We had a wonderful 2 night stay at the Casa Grande Suite Hotel in SoBe (South Beach). The rooms were a great size and every room has a full kitchenette (fridge, stove, dishwasher, microwave) which def helps as it can get expensive when paying for all 3 meals a day. The hotel is right across from the beach and is located on Ocean Drive. After walking around for hours I found that this was the perfect location. MIami goes most of the night so it can get loud. We didn't have a problem sleeping at all, but can see how some would. There is a resort fee per room per day which is $25.00 this covers beach towels, chairs, coffee, cookies and the most delicious oranges. There is no way around the fee and most of the hotels charge this fee. Parking was $25.00 a day and you could call the front desk to get your car delivered 24 hours a day. To park on the street is $1.75 which works out to more. I am sure we could have walked a few blocks and found something cheaper but we were fine with the convenience. The staff at this hotel are wonderful and I would like to thank them for a great experience in South Beach. There will be a bunch of is returning next year :) CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!"

"My review is mixed for this hotel. The rehabed room (505) was very nice, although it was strangely designed with a lot of empty space, the TV not viewable from the living space and no lighting in the bed area. Having the kitchen was very helpful. The actual operation of the hotel is where my review goes downhill. First, our room never got made up (we were there two nights). The excuse given was that someone called in sick. Really? One person calling in sick throws off the entire housekeeping arrangement? Then there was the first day when we left our room and the elevator never came, so we hoofed it down the five flights. The elevator was sitting on the first floor, dark. The counter person said they turned it off because it was really windy outside. What? When I mentioned it to the manager that night, they said that the elevator had been broken and had been serviced during the day. I mentioned the story the first person gave me, and they said that wasn't the case. OK, so who's lying, and why? And why no signs on each floor to say that the elevator is out. Bottom line, the price is good for a hotel in a great location. You just have to expect some whacky, inconsistent service."

"Stayed here with my family (including 3 small kids) the day before a cruise leaving from Port of Miami. The staff was very friendly, the room was HUGE and slept all of us very comfortably. It's super convenient that the rooms come equipped with a kitchenette and there's a small market in the hotel, so you can cook some of your own meals and save a few dollars on your trip to Miami. The hotel is also very quiet, which I liked traveling with kids, but steps from the ocean and within walking distance to all the fun spots, restaurants, etc. I'd definitely stay here again!"

"Pros:
-Location is central to everything South Beach
-Rooms are large for South Beach
-Directly across from beach
-Fairly quiet in rooms
Cons:
-I felt as if there were extra fees for everything plus the $150 per day deposit was exorbitant for the run down interior and exterior.
-Thermostat stuck on freeze to death at all times
-Furniture old, chipped or broken
-No towels in room, had to request toilet paper, kitchen was not stocked to eating or drinking
-No outside space (even though picture of hotel clearly shows them)
-Water pressure in shower feels as though you'll have bruises
In a nut shell, whatever pictures you see divide the wonderfulness of that image in half and that's what you're getting."

"They say they have the cheapest rooms, but a lot of hidden cost. You pay $25/ day for coffee and oranges in the morning, non negotiable. Plus the website says they have parking , but it is $25 / day. The room next to us was being worked on during the day so no napping before going out. Then got woke up by screaming kids upstairs and honking horns from the street. The room was not very clean and the smell of pot filled the room. I will not recommend or go back. The restaurant by the hotel charges $45 for a drink. Fyi"

"My stay at Casa Grande was good. I would had rated it great but three things happened that I was unhappy about. These three things were, being charged $80 for a chair that my husband and I was accused of breaking, which we didn't. The way we was greeted when we first checked in was totally different from the way we checked out. lastly, The chair that we was accused of breaking was taken out of our room 'when we wasn't in the room!!! They didn't show us what this chair looked like or where it was broken. We was only asked if we knew about a broken chair in our room, which we didn't because housekeeping reported it. This chair could've been broken before we got there. Furthermore, I refused to sign my checkout receipt which wasn't a problem but, when asked to speak to the manager or the person that checked us in and was the person whom asked us about the broken chair. I saw him plenty of times through out our stay. I also asked him if the issue with the broken chair was taken care of and he said he will talk to me. The morning of check out he was no where to be found. Really!!!!!!! I couldn't stayed and wait around for the both of them to show up to work that day because I had to be at the airport at 4am. I was given a card and was told to try and contact them when I get back to NY. I have been back since Monday and still has not heard from the clerk or the manager. Apparently the clerk hasn't been back to work since the morning I checked out and the manager who apparently is the only manager is too busy to speak to me or call me back."

I was concerned when I read that the front desk personnel weren't friendly, but found that to be completely NOT the case. All three people we met at the front desk were friendly and helpful.
The rooms were well equiped but could use a little facelift. The carpet maybe not so clean, but everything else was at least clean. The beds are a little hard making sleep a difficult, but sheets and bedding were clean.

"We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to South Beach. We are actually from the area, but we moved to Minnesota this past January, and needed a Florida 'fix.'
Our King Suite was very spacious with a living room, dining area and a full kitchen. The view was of the alley and dumpsters.
We would recommend Casa Grande to a friend only with the caveat that they insist on a view of the ocean."
