"Hidden fees that you don't find out about until you arrive (if you read the fine print), or when you receive your final bill. Then you are wondering why you have to pay additional fees that total more than what you paid for one of your nights in the room to begin with. They charge $11.00 a day for parking and $16.00 a day for a resort fee. Something to think about if you are traveling on a budget like I was."

"I booked a room for 4 people, with two beds. Check-in went smoothly, we parked, walked passed the front desk a second time and to our room. When we reached our room, we noticed that it was a suite with one king size bed, and a love seat that folded out into a twin size bed. We were 'upgraded' to a room that only slept 3 people. I called down to the front desk before we touched anything in the room and was told that we'd been upgraded and that they didn't charge us the resort fee. I had them double check my reservation and yes indeed, I'd reserved it for 4 people and two beds. They apologized that they didn't have any such rooms available that night and they also offered no rolling beds for us to use. So, my son had to sleep squooshed up into a fetal position inside two chairs pushed together. If he'd been about 2 inches taller this would not have worked. I was very upset that they didn't even tell me upon check-in about this issue. I'll never stay in this hotel again and will willingly pay MORE to stay at the Hilton next door."

"the hotel is within walking distance from downtown Disney. We ate breakfast outside the hotel since the food at the hotel was not good and expensive and the bar was closed early in the evening. Lots of entertainment and restaurants within walking distance. Near Walt Disney. Hotel room was clean. Parking too far away from hotel and the lot was full and large. Valet parking is the best way to go."

"The hotel was beautiful and easy to find. Right off our back patio was the pool, bar and hot tub. The concierges were knowledgeable and friendly. The only gripe I have is that the there is a $16/night resort fee and $11/day parking fee that were not included in the price when I reserved the room. Don't mind paying it, I would've just liked to know up front. The shuttle was great, saved a lot of unnecessary driving. Overall it was a great experience and I would definitely stay there again."

"They put us in a room that so far from the lobby that we had to think twice before making that journey. Our kids were worn out just from going to and from our room. They also charged us a valet parking fee of $16 a day and a $16 resort fee, which was also $16 a day, none of these fees were disclosed to us when wee booked the room. Not happy at all. "What a dump! Had to change rooms twice after a grueling day at the Disney parks. Rooms were filthy. Ants, glass on the floor next to and in front of the nightstand. Lucky we didn't cut ourselves. Underneath beds was disgusting. If we weren't so exhausted and it wasn't so late we would have left for sure. Couldn't believe a so called 3 star hotel on the Disney property was so poorly maintained. Went from a gorgeous resort to that pile of... Complained about the situation and received free parking. Thanks for nothing. Would not even let my worst enemy book a room there."

"This hotel is currently undergoing a renovation starting from the top floor down and is expected to be completed in March 2013. We stayed in a non renovated Tower Room. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. Outdated yes, but, that was expected. The roman tub/shower had excellent water pressure. I rated this as an excellent value because we took advantage of a great rate promotion. The hotel has a restaurant that offers a breakfast buffet that is very good and there is shuttle service to the parks. Location is excellent as well. Definitely a great value when you can find a great rate!"

The pictures online are much nicer than the actual hotel and it is in no way a resort but, they charge a resort fee to stay here. They do have shuttle busses to/from Disney but, they are not consistent with times available. We waited 20 min for a bus then, decided to take our car."

"I was charged an additional $16.95 tax on top of what I paid for the reservation, although the form I signed had $8 scratched off with a pen, which I immediately questioned and was told they had not printed the new forms yet. The front desk told me WiFi was free, but when we tried signing on we were told it cost $9. Lighting in the room was very poor. Batteries in the remote control didn't work. The outlet the coffee machine was plugged into didn't work. Food prices were ridiculous. We spent each day waiting at least 45 minutes for the shuttle to the parks because it was always late. One night we were the last group at the park waiting for our bus to arrive. The hotel is definitely not what I would consider 'walking distance' to Downtown Disney. I would not recommend this hotel nor stay here again."

"The hotel itself was fine but the housekeeping left much to be desired. The first night we didn't get the full complement of towels. The next day they hadn't swept up in the bath room and there were no wash cloths. Generally, the room appeared to have been cleaned in a half-hearted manner. We were in a Premier Room so we were on the 12th floor. We had ants in our room and it took the staff forever to get there. The problem was never fixed. We had ants till we left. Also the ice was on the 10th floor and you either wait for the very slow elevator or take the stairs that are OUTSIDE. We LOVED the beds and overall the room was amazing. We normally stay in a Disney resort but they were booked.
The bus transportation was AWFUL! You have to wait forever for the bus to get there and when it finally does it takes about 45mins to get to the destination. The first driver we had kept slamming on brakes. The second driver was much worse though. We were in a wreck with her. She didn't check to see if anyone was alright and did not explain what happened. We just sat off the side of the road for about 20 mins. Everyone was fine but it was still a big scare. Overall we had one good driver and on the last day we just decided to drive ourselves.
The room was great but the whole bus situation made it where we do not want to stay anywhere but a Disney hotel."

"The room was nice, although the ceiling fan in my 'Premier Room' was just about to fall completly apart. The room was a bit dark. The resort fee was outrageous for what you get, which is little or nothing. The bus service to the Disney Parks is not on time, the buses do not show up at the spots that they are supposed to appear at the Parks. The buses take FOREVER to get to and from the hotel to the various Parks. The elevators are really s-l-o-w.........Overall experience was poor for the money spent. "

Yes - the furniture was a little worn and could be replaced but when you take into consideration the wear and tear these hotels take I don't see how you could not expect some wear and tear. As for a missed room being cleaned - I am sure the front desk saw it was taken care of immediately? I think it is a beautiful hotel and I would recommend it and stay there again myself. I always give my rooms a white glove inspection when I arrive and Royal Plaza Passed!!!"

"The staff at the Royal Plaza was very frinedly and accomodating but would rather have not had the opportunity to find that out. The room has absolutely no lighting and for 3 traveling women no mirrors. The only mirror we had to share was in the bathroom which was dark and cramped. Had to call everyday to get more towels and even had to call maintenance to unclog the bathtub. They even tried to stiff us for a $10 a day parking charge which I successfully argued off our bill. The so-called free breakfast buffet only covered for two of us then they charge a crazy $15.95 after that. Gratefully our servers hinted to us to share our free buffet food with the third person. Also the breakfast fare was not up to the standards of a meal costing that much. We had to pay a tip to have someone take our bags up and down to our car because they did not provide bag carts. Then the entertainment desk sold us bogus tickets to Universal Studios City Walk which had most of its lounges closed due to another event charging more going on the same night. Cost us $60 to get there too. All in all would NEVER stay at this hotel again. Please do not beleive the others. Stay on Disney property.."

"This hotel needs a little rehab update. Nice property but not being maintained. My room carpet was stained with ketchup.knob missing off whirlpool. Bed covering could use update.changed rooms twice and found problems. You have to ask for clean towels, and room cleaning or you're out of luck,The main elevator for floors 12thru 17 leak rain water if raining. The staff is excellent. But this hotel seems to be slacking off in cleaning and maintenance. I have stayed here before and had no problems my previous rooms were nice."

"We had a late check in to the hotel around 1045pm after a day at Disney World. Everything seemed ok until we walked into our room. As soon as we walked in the room there were a bunch of dirty towels laying right by the door just outside the bathroom. The bathroom had more dirty towels and all the trash bins in the room were still full of trash, it looked like the only thing housekeeping did was to make the beds. When I called the front desk they asked if I was going to clean it myself or if I wanted someone to come and do it. The most ridiculous question I have ever been asked at a hotel . I told them I wanted to be moved to a different room and I was told the only room available was an upgrade and I had to pay a 40 dollar difference. By now it was almost midnight so rather then waiting for housekeeping, who knows how long they would have taken, I said, whatever, just get me out of this dirty rooom. Definately would not stay in this hotel again."

"First of all this hotel charges a 16.95 per day resort fee that's a complete rip off yea the hotel runs deals but you end up paying full price when you check out the hotel...the hotel hallways smelled like week old garbage and seen the biggest roches walking around in the hallway also the poolside bar was closed during the week so you had to go inside order a drink and then bring it outside which was a inconvience. Then you need 2 seprate keys one to get in the parrking lot which they charge you 10 dollars a day to park in and a room key and sometimes the parking garage key didn't work the hotel overall isn't worth much it just looks goood and that's about it"

The free shuttles to the Disney locations made it so much more enjoyable by not having to deal with the Disney traffic. We did have to walk a little farther to get our shuttle than the guests at the Disney owned resorts, but the savings on the cost of the room made it well worth it."

"The hotel staff was great. We had an extra charge on our bill at check out and they took care ofit right way. The Cafe had awesome burgers and we had great service. The rooms did need a deep cleaning our room smelled of strong bleach and there was alot of dust. We also had scrunched up tissues in our tissue box strange another reviewer commented about this. The front desk said that they were starting to renovate the guest rooms this year and the common areas in 2013. It could use a lift. The room A/C was super cold and we loved it! "I was very impressed with the appearance of the hotel. The price was very reasonable. The check in process was O.K. I thought the staff could be more friendly. The price included breakfast for 2, no one explained that we needed to take the coupon to the restaurant. the server was very insulting and said basically if you don't have your coupon, you have to pay $15.95 per person or leave. We could more than afford the breakfast without the coupon but he did not have the courtesy to explain even though I showed him the hotel receipt. I had to leave my breakfast and go to the Front Desk and they questioned my validity, the same Agent that checked me out 15 minutes prior. the server also did not come back to our table and avoided us all morning. Bad service. No customer service at all. Very disappointed at the service."

"This was no resort. First room we were given was described as an up grade. The room was filthy, spotted carpet, stains on coverlet, dirty bath room fixtures, juliet balcony had peeling paint and was rusted. We requested another room which was 1% better spotted carpet, air conditioner dripping on floor because of the leak paint bubbling on the wall. It was walking distance to Downtown Disney, and close drive out to restaurants. The breakfast buffet was great and included in my price. The pool does not have all the bells and whistles of some of the other Disney pools but I did not mind, I paid less than 90.00 a night and my friends at Coronado Springs paid over 300.00 a night. I was very pleased with the staff and would recommend this to anyone."

"I had a good stay at this hotel. This was my first time to Florida during the summer so I wasn't sure what to expect. I was planning on going to Disney World during my stay so a big selling point was the shuttle service to the various parks. The shuttle service was great-ran according to schedule and there was no fuss. The hotel room was spacious and clean. The maid service wasn't so great-forgot to restock towels, empty garbages, vacuum, etc. But when I called the front desk, they sent up towels with no problem. The staff at the front desk and ticketing counter were very nice and friendly. They were able to answer questions I had about the area and how to get to places. Overall it was a good hotel to stay at if you were planning on going to Disney and didn't want the fuss of renting a car."

"I never write reviews, but I just had to do a favor to all of those that have reservations at the Royal Plaza Hotel. I am not one to complain, but this hotel is disgustingly dirty and the housekeeping staff are lazy. I booked a stay for 7 days and not once did they change the sheets to the beds. They washed our cups with the bar soap in the resteroom. By the 4th day I told housekeeping to just not bother coming by the room because they didn't do anything anyways. Management did not bother to offer a change of room. The restaurant in the building is not good at all and their service is awful. Their pancakes are like rubber and their eggs have a bad taste. We had free breakfast throughout our stay & we only ate there once for breakfast & dinner & both were terrible. For those that read the reviews and think they are not true they are. Before going on this trip I read the reviews starting May and they were 60% bad & I took a chance & still went to this hotel. Do not make the same mistake."

"Took a chance that just maybe some of the reviews were wrong, Big mistake on my part. Check in was fast, had two rooms next to each other, only problem was one room (252) smelled like bleach and I'm sure there was mold on the wall by the air conditioner vent (wet and black). Asked to change rooms, front desk was very nice and changed rooms, they were not suprised, so, if you know there is a problem with the room DON'T give it to someone. Rooms are in need of updating. I'm from Vegas, we update after 1 year. One small bottle of shampoo and one little bar of soap for a week, went to the 'store' in the hotel, saying things are over priced is an understatement. One bed was made with sheets that looked to have blood stains on them, they did give us new sheets. Air was not work all that well. There is a newer building and maybe that's nicer but as far as the older rooms of this hotel, they stink, literally."

"Beautiful hotel. Very clean, comfortable. Close to parks. Shuttle ran just like the Disney buses. Ran before park opens till after park closes Came every half hour. .Always on time convenient. Very nice restaurant with good food, snack bar, bar lounge and pool table and game room in lobby. My only complaint was after a long day at the parks we wanted to swim. Pool closes at 11pm.They let you slide till about 11:20pm then they nicely kick you out. I was impressed. The only thing that would stop me from going back is the pool closing so early. That could be a deal breaker. Other hotels let you swim if you're quiet. Staff was very nice and helpful. Convenient laundry next to pool area. They even have a spa but we didnt use that. Down the street from Downtown Disney."

Shuttle service is a plus to the Disney parks, which run every 30 miutes. "The room was small and set up poorly. You could only watch TV when sitting on the bed and it was impossible to hear the TV because of the loud A/C, which never shut off. The bathtub was not clean and the room had a funny smell. On the up side, the continental breakfast was very good and all the hotel and restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful. The shuttles to the theme parks was a big plus considering the traffic! Food in the hotel's grab and go store was very expensive and there was a $25 charge to have a mini refrigerator in the room."

"This Disney vacation was a pre-celebration for my daughter's 16th birthday and I chose the Royal Plaza again from our last trip 6 years ago. Upon arrival we were upgraded from a traditional room to a deluxe tower room on the 17th floor for free which was a great start to this vacation. The hotel staff was courteous,helpful, and professional everyday all day. The cafe staff were very friendly especially a young lady who was hostess on Tuesday and Wednesday morning. It would have been great to have more variety for the buffet-the same items everyday and maybe change the deco in the hotel. The complimentary shuttle service to and from the parks/downtown Disney is a great perk.The room was nice especially the beds but our bath tub had a problem with the water draining properly while showering other than that a great trip. I would return again."

"I rated a 4 for experience and cleanliness only because of the room on the 2nd floor, it was rather noisy with doors slamming and the room was a bit dirity. We did get our room changed to a room on the 7th floor, and it was very clean and very quiet. I would stay here again but only in the tower. The rooms are really great in the tower and much more relaxing. The staff is GREAT. Everyone throughout the entire hotel was friendly and very accomadating. Overall a great place to stay."

"We loved the size of the room and the overall appearance of the hotel. The rooms could use come updating and our closet door was broken (actually hanging by only one screw inside the closet). Since we did not use the closet it was no big deal. I did notice that the person who cleaned the room tried to recycle the soap from the people that were in the room before we were because the bar soap was open and in our shower. I also had used shower gel left in our shower. I just threw it away. The room was great for the price that we paid for it."

"It was an okay place to stay. The staff were very friendly and accomidating. When booking with 'Book it' we were not guaranteed a room with specific bedding, after sleeping in a full size by my husband, we asked to change - seeing that it was our honeymoon. The staff checked the availability and upgraded us to a king size bed. But had the hotel been full - we would have been in two seperate beds the rest of the trip.Restraunts were fine, breakfast was nothing fancy. Overall nice, but I wanted the Disney touch, that was lacking. Also - if renting a car on your own or driving your own, you have to pay for overnight parking - PER NIGHT!!!

"Nice hotel we were given a great room on the 1st floor with it's own patio that had direct access to the pool (Our main reason for the trip...to get some sun). All the employees were very friendly and helpful. The waiters in the restaurant were also very nice.
The rooms need some updating we had a lamp that did not work along with a few electrical outlets but it wasn't an issue for us. I will definiately visit this property again. The location is great within walking distance of Downtown Disney and they offer shuttles to the Disney Parks."

NO TIMES ARE POSTED ANYWHERE ABOUT ANYTHING AND NO ONE CARES TO SHARE ANY INFO WITH YOU, WITH OUR PACKAGE WE WERE OFFERED FREE CONTINETAL BREAKFAST, COME TO FIND OUT THAT IS 1PASTRY, 1 FRUIT AND YOU ONLY HAVE THE CHOICE OF APPLE AND BANANA AND COFFEE THAT YOU CANNOT EVEN SUBSITUTE FOR TEA!!!!!!! The beds were very comfortable, best night's sleep I've had in weeks! nSome of the amenities are a bit outdated, and in need of upgrading soon, e.g. the old CRT tv, small coffee maker only capable of making a single serving at a time, poor lighting in bathroom, dated looking wardrobe & sofa bed, and carpets. nOne of the two elevators was broken during our stay, but it didn't cause us any delay.nnFortunately, I got a good rate and bonuses that included: free Resort Fee ($16/night), free parking ($10/night), Free Breakfast for Two ($30/day). nThis turned out overall to be quite a value for a property inside the Walt Disney World Resort with frequent shuttles to the parks and Downtown Disney which is within walking distance.nIf we had to pay for the Parking and Resort Fees, I would consider staying elsewhere on our next visit. "The hotel was nice, the room was adequate, nothing special. Our one complaint at the hotel was that one of the two main elevators was out of order for 3 of the 4 days we were there, so the wait to go up and down was very long. We opted to take the stairs down once, but they were outside and the temp was 90 so it was not fun. But our biggest complaint was the time involved in taking the shuttle buses to the theme parks. They didn't run often enough, sometimes passed us by because they were full, often we had to stand. The worst ride was home from one park, stopped at another, then other hotel stops, for a total of one hour on the bus!! If we ever return to Disney I would not stay at a Downtown Disney hotel."

I asked the conceirge a question about sea world tickets and she tried to sign me up for a time share presentation! No one offered to help us with our bags and when we finally tracked someone down they said it would be a $5 charge. "We were aware of the resort fee but still feel they were not needed since we hardly spent any time in the hotel. The maid service was not good at all. We had two beds and a couch that pulled out to a bed. One bed was fully made, the second made was half made and the pull out bed was not made at all. The garbage cans were not emptied and the dishes from our room service the night before was never taken away. We did swim in the pool one day and felt the tile around the pool and stairs were very dirty with hair along the edges. Also our toilet clogged every day we were there and need someone to come fix it. I would not recommend this hotel to a friend."

Due to our family of 4 having 2 teenagers, we had to get 2 rooms to accomodate all of us. Little did I know, I would be charged twice for resort fees and I didn't feel this was justified. I would much rather see a total cost for my hotel stay and not be handed a bill as I check out to cover unnecessary charges...like parking and some don't use parking, like internet and some don't use internet,..... I personally feel this is just a sneaky way to charge more for your hotel room in hopes you don't figure it out. Other than the resort fees, I would stay here again for the money. I would have to seriously reconsider if hit with double resort fees again. "

The upgrade to Deluxe with king bed and huge bathroom with tub for two and large shower, was excellent, great after coming back from miles of walking. "I am glad that i picked this location as my vacation spot. There were 4 adults (25-30yrs old) who stayed at this hotels, 2 of which were exctied to experience their 1st Disney Trip (may 3-9, 2012). From the moment we arrived at the hotel to the moment we left there were no complaints at all. Started the morning off with our free breakfast , then got on the shuttle which was always on time picking us up at the hotel and the park. The staff was friendly and the hotel was just perfect for what we were all looking for. The rooms were VERY clean and it was nice getting back to the hotel after the long day at the parks and getting into a clean room. Downtown disney was about a 10min walk from the hotel which was great for when we did not eat dinner at the parks. Would stay at this hotel again."

"We stayed the last week of April with my 2 daughters for their first vist to Disney World . I arranged a high level room with a view of the fireworks at Magic Kingdom(not that veiwable) by bribing the front desk person with a Red Sox baseball hat. When we arrived the room was on the 17th floor but tiny,the entrance to the room was filled with water(aleak they never fixed all week) and the thermostat was broken.We froze the first 2 nights until we figured out we needed to have a janitor climb through our ceiling everytime we needed to turn on or off the ac!!.... to make an adjustment.manually... the front desk decided to take the $20 upgrade fee off my bill as a nice gesture. It actually blows my mind that the first front desk person added the $20 per night back onto my bill the next day. There are plenty of other hotels in Downtown Disney so STAY AWAY FROM THIS ONE!!!! I travel a lot and this hotel sucks!!!! This has nothing to do with the money but all about greed,upkeep of the rooms and customer service We had a great time with the exception of the stay at the hotel."

"I was over pretty disappointed with the experience of the hotel. First, the promotions were not honored by the hotel. Second, while we were upgraded to a 'delux' room as the promotion indicated, I found the size of the room was no larger than most hotel rooms and far smaller than the suites we have stayed at in Orlando for similar prices. The blanket for the pull out couch had holes all over it and the room was not very updated. On a positive, the bathroom was large and quite nice, especially compared to the rest of the room. Overall, the nicest comment I can make is that the all-you-can eat buffet breakfast was good with a lot of options (including Mickey Mouse waffles), and the waiter was extremely nice and helpful."

"This was a nice hotel for the money. It is in a real nice area and the hotel room was well maintained and nicely decorated. I would reccomend this hotel to anyone. It was a great value and a real deal. It is located in an upscale area and very close walking distance to Disney Village however they do offer shuttle service to Disney. The only downside is the breakfast buffet. The free breakfast is just basic food and the same caliber that I got in the Army at best!"

"The room itself was wonderful, but the staff and management were the problem. Our bill was prepaid and they required our credit card because of 'extra' daily fees called resort fees, and we were not offered the services the fees were for. One day we did not want staff to clean our room and told the front desk and when we returned, they had been in our room and made beds etc. We had left our personal items and medications out, thinking no one would enter the room. Hotel represents itself as being 'inside Disney' but in fact is not a Disney Hotel. Meal prices were so high that we ate at the Holiday Inn next door. Bus trips to and from the Hotel took a lot of time each day. Again, the room we had was very nice."

"We had a wonderful time in Orlando. The friendly staff made our stay even more enjoyable. Our plane arrived at 5:00 am. The staff was able to accomodate us with an early check in. They even up graded our room for free. The room was very clean and every room had a wonderful view. "We loved everything about this hotel, When we needed anything we received it in a blink of an eye. We needed washcloths since there was three of us in our room and extra coffee (which is delicious) we had service and smiles everytime. The restaurant had very good food, we ate there seven out of eleven nights in DW. My son enjoyed the pool, it was very clean and the water was warm."

"The good.... The hotel and the grounds although showing some wear is a nice place and the attendants were friendly and helpful when I needed information. The room was nice, but not exactly what was shown in the pictures in their ads.My wife did like that the batroom was larger than an average hotel but could possibly do with some more lighting.The grounds were clean and neat. We were on the 8th floor in the front and the view was beautiful. We watched the fireworks from Epcot every night of our stay. We did not use the restaurant but it did look nice. It was nice that the location was in the park area and very close to downtown Disney because the traffic outside in Orlando was TERRIBLE!!! LOL. The bad... As I stated, the hotel is showing some signs of wear and the most noticeable of those were the frayed blankets and there was some leakage in the bathroom tub. Also the elevator went out and we had to use the service elevators, which is still better than the stairs. It was repaired by the next morning. None of these were too upsetting however, the resort fee and parking fee was, I felt, overkill. You also cannot get a luggage cart yourself, you have to ask for a bellman to bring it and it made me feel like I needed to tip him for doing something that I really would have preferred to do myself. No fridge was also a bummer. I think that dropping those semi-hidden fees and just being upfront and giving a real, everything included price would erase some of the check in shock. I was beside a lady who was visibly upset that her final cost was almost $100 more than what she was told when she made her reservations. In defense of the hotel, she probably should have read the whole reservation or asked more questions but like I said, an upfront price to me is more honorable. This hotel is nice enough to stand on its own merits with its location, friendly staff and nice facilities without giving a 'low price' with other 'fees'. I would probably stay again but I was aware of most of these things before I committed."

"Go expecting to pay the $8 per day resort fee. Bundle your stay with the breakfast package. A great way to start the day. Efficient and quick. Great Location. Expect traffic! Room was OK. Bed was great. We stayed on the highway side. Sure there was some traffic noise, but nothing that bothered us. We were also near the elevator and THAT was not a problem either. Fine Stay- but not luxury. Great for the good price."

It is important that this attentive room supervisor in a daily report of how many people occupy a room to leave towels, soap and shampoo needed during the visit of the host. Roomservice must be attentive to collect trays and dirty dishes in the rooms where they take the food, is very unpleasant to get rest at night and once you enter the room smell the rotting food.

"Our family (of 4) stayed here in a Deluxe Room for the week of March 18-25. We booked on line and rec'd. a free upgrade to the Deluxe Room. The room was a very good size and very comfortable. This hotel is in an excellent location and has free shuttles to all the resorts. It is a 10 min. walk to Downtown Disney and restaurants, a grocery store and other shopping areas. We enjoyed it very much and would definitely stay there again or recommend it to anyone else."

"If you're interested in spending a lot more then you were originated that was a good idea then go ahead go to this hotel. Although it was luxious looking it appeared quite older inside decor. Actually thought I had a great deal and paid ahead, only to find out I had paid more then I did the week before at another great hotel RIGHT NEXT DOOR!!! (with all included, no hidden fees) BE prepared to pay for taxes and fees with your original booking, PLUS additional RESORT FEES additional $8.00, Self parking additional $10.00, Valet parking EVEN MORE! plus internet service $9.95 per day, or you can gladly use their business center for $7.95 per use!!! Ahh but breakfast was FREE with our deal and that's the ONLY thing my husband liked their, they do have a great breakfast! PS they did not give us our breakfast vouchers I had to actually go down to the desk and ask what's with the FREE breakfast I thought I paid for in this so called 'bargain'??? Thus, the overnight stays for 2 nights cost more then 3 nights at another hotel on HOTEL PLAZE STRIP! right next to disney!!! And the pool is not heated as stated! OH and the room we had was the ugliest of views, our deck went right out to the VENTING and roof top??? NO VIEW very disappointed and will never stay their again. THINK TWICE and read the fine print, you can't cancel once you've paid."

"My stay at the Royal Plaza Hotel was wonderful. Not only where the staff friendly and personable, the treated me like I was the most important customer that they had. This is saying something because I was there on one of there busiest weekends. Both days that I stayed there the Hotel was fully booked. I stayed on the 16th floor in a king size room. It was large and very clean with a beautiful view of all of Orlando. I will say that they have done some remodeling and things where slightly outdated but, due to the hotels wonderful staff and how nice and clean the hotel was that didn't matter. The sheets where extremly soft and the bed was also very comfortable. I would recommend this hotel to anyone."

"My wife and I stayed here for two nights so we got the complementary breakfast. To our amazement, we could chose from any breakfast meal on the menu. Everything was delicious and the service great. The room was very clean and the staff was pleasant. They did clean our room after 5 the first day, but it was very clean and prepared again when we got back for the night. That's why we gave the staff a 4 for efficiency. The hotel is very close to all things Disney. (We used our own car after experiences with shuttle services from other hotels. The $14 to park on Disney property is worth the convenience.) Over all it was a wonderful experience. We will defiantly be back in the future!"

"This hotel is extremely clean and well staffed. The only thing that was a disappointment were the hidden fees. We paid for everything except food before going on the trip, but were charged at the hotel for parking, a resort fee, and taxes on everything. Through my own fault, I did not choose a hotel with free internet, and was very disappointed to learn that they charge $9.95 for every 24 hour period. In addition, I should have picked a hotel that offered a free continental breakfast since food prices are quite expensive. I highly recommend the hotel if you are looking for a pleasant trip and aren't concerned with cost."

"We enjoyed our stay and for the best part had a great time. The room we was in had the old tube TV with a very bad reception. The bathroom was set up nice. But they could not fix the TV reception so they moved us to a suite right accross from that room. Now the suite was nice but it also had the old tube TV and a spa type tub w/ shower within it. The spa was not even hookup and I would not have used it anyway. I think you should have taken that old tub out and set it up like the room before. 610. I don't know if we was offered the internet because the staff never mentioned it. So i can not tell you if it was working or not. Also I asked if they had real eggs there and I was told no. Should we not have a choice? The bar area was really noisy because of the game room full of kids but the parents that was with them were louder than the kids. This was between 9pm and 10pm. I couldn't even hear my wife while trying to enjoy a drink and the game. Overall we would return and recommend to friends."

"The Royal Hotel is very well located, clean and family oriented. The features in the rooms are a little bit old but the deluxe room we had was very spacious with nice light and a large bathroom (shower and bath). The staff was excellent, very helpful, smiling and always happy to help. The only negative point was the breakfast which was poorly organized (took us 45 minutes to get served on our first day) and not possible to have when you leave very early. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend the Royal Plaza to our friends."

"We found this facility to be comfortable and served our needs for a quick overnight stay. We wanted to spend the evening at Downtown Disney and this Hotel is well within walking distance. Not sure why it is necessary to add the resort fees, if everyone needs to pay it, why not just include in your price, but that aside, it was a good value for the area and we would not have any problems booking here again if we are in the area."

"I stayed at the Royal Plaza in 2010 and it was great. This time Booked for 3 days again from Feb 24-27th 2013. At check in they told me there was a $16.00 charge plus tax each day for a resort fee, I was never told about this fee when I was booking the hotel. Staff never says anything to you even if you say Good morning. Both Ice machine were broken on bottom floor finally got fixed the day we were leaving. Housekeeping was great clean rooms. Toliet water ran all night long. Transportaion to disney was great on time everyday. Would not book here again due to staff and resort fees. Better of at the AllStar Music Resort."

"Well we noticed the carpets were very dirty in the hall. Then went up to our room and within minutes was being bitten by something not sure what. A bug in the tub and the tub would not drain to get rid of the bug. Went to front desk and they put us in a suite. Well carpet was still very dirty and the jets on the tub were covered with mildew. Told the front desk but nothing done about it. Put computer down on the desk and in the morning there were bugs all around it looked like ants. Not sure what it was. Told the front desk. Gave up and glad we were there only two nights. Would not go back if two rooms are bad then no hope for anything else..."

"Overall the hotel was very nice for the money. I felt like I received a great deal. Upon checking they provided my husband & I with an upgraded room, since we only needed one bed. The front desk was very nice and pleasant. She kept a smile on her face the entire time which I feel people lack now a days. My stay was short, so I didn't expect a lot from the hotel. My stay included breakfast which was great. It was an open buffet and they had a good variety of food.
The only thing I found odd was that there was not refrigerator or microwave in the room. I have never stayed some where that didn't at least have these in a room. This hotel does charge extra for both these items. Again, I was there a short time so I opted to do without. If I was staying there longer I would have liked to have oat least a refrigerator to hold drinks.

"For our 4th Disney trip, after staying at several on-site resorts, we chose the Royal Plaza as it had meal deals, free shuttles, and was still on-site. Just a short walk from Downtown Disney with a Rainforest/T-Rex cafes and shopping, plus busses to everywhere! Price was reasonable, service was excellent, food was good, and very reasonably priced. We had an 11th-floor view of the somewhat distant fireworks, a decent pool and access to everything we needed -- without the price and crowds of the resorts. I highly recommend it to families with pre-teen to slightly older kids who don't need the 'magic' of a Disney resort."

"I have no complaints about the Royal Plaza Hotel. The hotel was clean, my kids, enjoyed the pool, and the staff was very helpful and friendly. The staff working in the Giraffe Cafe were excellent and always friendly. The only problems that we had were with the maid service and the bell service. The maid service did not restock the toilet paper and sheets for the pull out bed but when I call downstairs to the front desk, they brought it up immediately. The bell service I would not recommend to anyone! I had set up the bell service to come and pick us up at the airport when we arrived in Orlando at 8:30 PM. Our plane was delayed due to bad weather and I did notify the bell service that we would be delayed and I would call them when we arrive. We arrived in Orlando around 12:30 AM. When we arrived I immediately called the bell service to let them know and they told me that the driver leaves at 12:00 AM and I would have to take a taxi to the hotel. Other than those two experiences everything else was great and would recommend the hotel."

"My husband and I just returned from a 2 day trip for our anniversary. I wanted everything to be just perfect and chose to stay at this hotel because it looked very lavish in the photo's. The hotel is indeed very clean and quite beautiful. I had requested a room with a king size bed and was told when I arrived that there were no more king rooms available so we took a room with double beds. These beds were designed for just ONE person. The first night, we slept half on and half off this tiny bed and the second night we just slept in separate beds (Very romantic for your anniversary...). Speaking of sleep, if you think that you may want to actually sleep and get a good nights rest, that will not happen here. The walls are paper thin and you can hear EVERYTHING happening in the rooms next to you and in the hallway. Kids ran like wild buffalo on the floor above us until 3:00 in the morning the first night and the second night people were in and out of their rooms, slamming doors and laughing and you could hear it like it was in the same room with you. We complained and nothing was done. I concluded that there was not much that COULD be done to keep the quiet when someone coughs in the next room and it wakes you up! We were so disappointed and left that place having gotten little sleep for two straight nights vowing we would NEVER EVER stay here again."

"Seems there are allot of unhappy, complaining people in the world today, that's why you need to read my review of this hotel, Orlando, and Disney if you're on the fence about choosing this hotel for your stay in Orlando. I will be fair in my assessment; I'll tell you the good and the bad.
Let me start by addressing all the negative things said by others who have written comments before me, and then I'll move onto the good points:
* It is true that there is an $8.00 per day hotel resort fee which is publicized in the advertisement for booking this online and every other resort in Orlando. This is standard for all the resorts, maybe not motels and low end hotels but resorts all charge this. Not sure if the city of Orlando is making them do this or just something all the resorts have got together on to do? Either way this is the standard for resorts.
* It is true the Disney transportation busses run by Mears Transportation (not the hotel) do run every 30 minutes and do stop by the other hotels next to the Royal Plaza but it's only for a few seconds each for unloading, and loading of new people. Hope no one thinks they were going to have their own personal driver drive them to each park free of charge and pick them up when they got ready to go? That's called a taxi or a limo and they are available but not for free.
* Staying closer to a Disney park will not help you, everything is miles apart from each other by design and you will (if you visit more than one park) travel on one of the transportation systems available to get from one to another at some point in time. The closes resorts to an actual park are the Swan, Dolphin, Yacht Club, Contemporary, and maybe some others but each of those resorts are only next to one of the five parks. Those guests will still be using free transportation to get from any of the other parks. So paying an extra $1000 to stay inside the park is up to you, but everyone no matter how much they shell out will be riding a boat, bus, or monorail to get to and from other parks.
* Parking is $10 per day but we didn't use a car so I can't speak on this other than to say parking space was very limited to all the hotels in the area and there was no other parking option than to use the hotel propertys parking lot for storing your vehicle rented or owned. Maybe this was a little high priced for parking and maybe if the hotel cared about raising their scores should consider lowering their parking rates for their guest.
* Daily room clean-up was fantastic! We spent 8 days & 7 nights there and every single day the staff changed out 100% of all our sheets, pillow cases, trash liners, and towels and cleaned the whole room completely without disturbing our belongings. There is nothing they could have done to do a better job!
* The free in room safe worked great for us the entire stay just by using the instructions on the front of the safe.
* The front desk staff: FABULOUS! We were greeted and she went above and beyond the normal customer service to make sure we were taken care of and happy. Very professional, pleasant, and made our stay wonderful. The rest of the team day or night was no different, I called to have the heat turned on since the outside temp dropped unexpectedly and I barely got off the phone with the front desk when the maintenance person was knocking on the door. In seconds he had the heat going and was on his way. Seconds later the front desk clerk called to make sure I was happy and the task was completed, WOW! All the staff went above and beyond.
* TIP 1 FOOD: If you are on a budget after paying those 'out of this world prices for tickets, and package bundles' then you need to know that you do have options no one told me about before I left. There is a shopping mall, a 24 supermarket, and allot of places to eat to the North of the hotel away from Downtown Disney. Much cheaper places to eat if you are watching the money you have left. McDonald's, Burger King, Arbys, Chevys Tex-Mex (fantastic!), Ihop, Shoney's, etc. If you eat at any of the Disney theme parks have your favorite Banking loan agent on speed dial.
I traveled with my two children 12 & 14 and myself & we spent no less than $90 per day for food at Disney parks. Plus the portions were small and the food wasn't that good. Not only has Disney planned out how to place parks and rides in a methodical method, they have also designed it in such a way you are trapped (without a plan of your own for food) to be held hostage to their HIGH prices for everything. Example 20oz Coke products $2.75 each.
Your options:
A) Pack your own fooddrinks but you'll have to tote them around everywhere you go or use a locker to store them.
B) Leave the park your and go to a place of your choice outside the park to eat (3 times a day)
C) Or use the Disney eating plan which limits what you can or cannot get per person. For us it would have been another $600 added onto our thousands we already spent. My children where so happy when we found the shopping mall and the food places we were familiar with about 1/2 block away to the North of the hotel.
TIP 2 Park layouts:
Disney at this time has 5 parks that are included in your park hopper price (if that is what you have) those parks are Downtown Disney open in the morning but empty. Buses don't start running to it until 6pm, it's a late night type area, and we were not impressed. Animal Kingdom, far way, need to ride a bus to get there no monorail or boat. Hollywood Studios also a bus ride or boat (from certain locations only) no monorail. Epcot by bus, boat, or monorail close to Magic Kingdom, and the last is Magic Kingdom by bus, boat or monorail.
They have two water parks but they are extra in price. Universal Studios, Sea World, Gator World, etc are not a part of Disney and they are extra about $75 each person extra per day.
TIP 3 Speed:
If you are a person who is impatient, this might not be the trip for you. Also if you do not have long patients with other people who are rude, selfish, and inconsiderate of others, maybe this is not the place for you. You will get a good dose of this from people who live here, and from people all over the world traveling to this place to see it just like you. Those traveling from abroad do not share your same since of home training that you do living in American so brace yourself.
OVERALL: The visit was good and could be better with planning and pre-trip education of what to expect but still worth doing once in life. Overall opinion of the Royal Plaza was great 90 out of 100.
Overall opinion of Disney 50-50 I think I know now why they say it's 'The Happiest Place on Earth' They mean for them with all your money that now have. Their slogan for this year is 'Where Dreams Come True' They didn't necessarily mean your dreams, they had to have meant their dreams of what they were going to do with all that money they make every day. Not mad at them for making money, just in awe at how much, what a jig.
Overall opinion of Orlando Florida (depends on where you are) Hotel great, Disney cast members great, Disney ticket monitors some great, some rude. Some people at the airport are rude, some good. It's a different place.

"I guess my first tip that this wasn't going to be a 'Royal' stay was the cost. The room was $120 on a Saturday night in an area where the comparable rates for other hotels was starting at $275.
We were expecting one king-sized bed and wound up with 2 queens. Since we were staying only one night, that wasn't such a big deal.
The room overlooked the pool... and the interstate. The room fan didn't work and there was no bathroom fan. The TV was a tiny 23' inch tube-type that had about 20 channels (no HBO/Cinemax, etc. and NO PAY-PER-VIEW!!). I was led to believe that movies-on-demand were available, but I wouldn't have wasted the money on them anyway with a screen that small.
The entire hotel smells like smoke, which is strange considering all the rooms were 'non-smoking'.
The room keys had to be used to re-enter the hotel, and only worked after the third or fourth swipe. The parking lot used a completely different keycard (WHY? IF I HAVE A ROOM KEY, SHOULDN'T I BE ABLE TO USE THAT??) that, once again, took 3-4 times to open the gate.
We did feel safe, however, and there were no REAL problems (aside from forgetting the toothpaste, which the hotel was kind enough to provide - and it was an actual TUBE, not those little tear-apart foil packs.
It's a shame that this hotel is supposedly 'Managed by Disney', because it was nowhere near the quality we've come to expect from WDW. We'll definitely spend the extra money on a better hotel next time."

"Although this was off season and the hotel was only 20 percent capacity, you still were charged $10.00 a day parking and then were slapped with a $8.00 per day resort fee. I was told this fee covered, among other things, the shuttle bus to the parks. I found this interesting since our reservation confirmation emphasized 'free' shuttle to all theme parks. This is also one of the few hotels I have been to that has no refrigerator in the room.Of course for another charge you could get one. Overall, the reason I cannot recommend this was the hidden $8.00 per day resort fee."

"For the money and length of the trip, it was not worth going to this hotel. When we arrived our telephone and safe did not work. Next, we asked for wake-up phone calls and did not receive them. Next, we did not get our room cleaned everyday and one day we did not receive any new towels. The store was limited in the food they offered and the restarant was way to expensive for the food you received. This hotel was not what we were expecting. We thought it was closer to the Theme Parks than it was and we thought we would have better access to the Theme Parks. The trip was good, we just weren't happy with this hotel."

"I have to admit that I was pretty surprised from the very beginning. We had booked two rooms some time back requiring King Beds. Upon arrival we were informed that we could only have one of the two rooms with a king that one would have to be two Doubles. The front desk help was very short and rude while attempting to discuss the matter and our options. It was pretty much take it or leave it in their tone and actions. My Daughter, Grand Daughter and son in law took the King room after much discussion. Myself and my husband slept in seperate full size beds in the other room. The rooms appeared dirty, the bathrooms had rust showing through the paint, the carpeting in the room and throughout the facility was visualy dirty, Hallways, elevator, rooms , etc. The ice machine on the second floor was not working requiring that we go down stairs for ice. The Safe in our room (264), did not work. This required that we place the do not disturb sign when leaving the facility. The Clock radio and lighting between the beds was plugged into a standard orange extention cord that ran under the bed??. The lighting would flicker on and off if the extension cord was moved. Did not appear very safe. We unplugged the lighting and radio."

"Nice spacious King room that we found at a big discount on the web. Only problem was the bus service service to the parks. Buses did not always come on time and often the route you needed was 'out of service' or extremely late. Waited one night at the hotel over 45 minutes for a bus. Coming back from the Magic Kingdom in the afternoon, the total travel time was almost 1 1/2 hours. WHEW! One bus usually shares two parks, so you can end up going the long way around. Basically, you can waste lots of time waiting for bus service. The alternative is to pay lots more money and stay at the Boardwalk which is kind of in the middle of things, or one of the other Disney hotels near the monorail."

"Location was great, blocks from Disney Marketplace. Bus service was great except for the bus that stopped for 2 seconds and left before anyone could get on.
Huge problem..............the heat in the room did not work and it was freezing all night. It was 1 am, we were exhausted and just wanted to sleep so we didnt call for help.` Second problem................no refridgerator in the room which is unbelievable these days. I am on a specific diet for health reasons and assumed there would be one for the food I brought. At least I had my cooler and ice available. Third problem....wifi is $10 a day. Again free wifi is a service we expect these days and again at least I had it on my phone.
Will probably look for another hotel with fridge and free wifi AND HEAT for our next visit."

"We booked our room thru Bookit.com and the FREEbees offered were supposed to include FREE breakfast for the children.Unfortunately, not only were the children not able to eat free, but they did not have the breakfast buffet offered, and the service was terrible. We waited at least 1/2 hour to have our breakfast served, after ordering, and in addition, after requesting our bill and letting our waiter know that we were in a rush for time, it took over 10 mins,., with us standing by our table during that time, to finally ask another server to get our bill. The quality of the fod and the service had greatly deteriorated since our visit last year."

"Overall the hotel was very good but communications between the desk staff and cleaning people was really bad....
My wife and I stayed at this hotel. so we have 2 people.
fisrt issue was amount of coffee and soap placed in rooms. one tiny bar of soap placed in bath. 1 bottle of shampo.
coffe placed in room was 1 decaf and one regular coffee. There are two of us. so we want to drink regular in the morning and decaf in evening. but there is onlyh enough for two cups of coffee for the day. I went down stairs 2 days ina row requesting the cleaning crew leave 2 regular and 2 defcaf... did not happen. after 2nd day I just went down to ask for additional coffee....
second thing was communication between staff members. we had 2 bookings for the hotel. you can check your records. All this was explained when I initially checked in. well Thrusday came and the cleaning crew thought I was checking out. Friday the keys become inactive at 1:00 p.m. We had coupon to extend till 3:00 p.m.
I will not return to the hotel due to staff.
hotel was lovely, breakfast in the mornings was great, shuttle to disnew was perfect.

"The deal we got was great - free upgrade, late checkout and meal deals. The staff was friendly and the location was perfect. My only disappointments were our garbage in the room was not thrown out when housekeeping cleaned(HUH?) and the bedsheets for the pull out sleeper sofa were stained/dirty. Not cool! Other than that, the hotel was pretty clean and the restuarant had really good food. Their Thanksgiving dinner was the perfect ending to the night."

"We stayed at this hotel because we thought it would be convenient getting to the Disney resorts but close enough to walk to off-property, less expensive eating options. It really was neither. We were told that the buses came every 30 minutes but found that in reality, the bus was often late and very, very full. There were times that the trip took nearly an hour. It was not realistic for us to return to the hotel during the day and then return to the park. In addition, while we conceivably could have walked to off-property eating options, it was a bit far and we had to cross a busy intersection. It was not a good option with small kids.
Lastly, the room was kind of grimy and the shower did not work very well. While there were some deals for eating in the restaurant, it was a bit overpriced and the food for the kids was not good. The whole feel of the hotel was of something past its prime - on the downhill. I would not stay here again.

"Hotel is very convenient to Downtown Disney. Roons are clean but very basic without flat screen tv or refrigerator / minibar. Swimming pool is complex with snack bar is excellent. Parking is convenient but there is a cost for self parklng.
Unfortunately althoug I requested a room poolside, my room was located on the first floor facing the parking lot. I would not return unless better room location could be assured."

"When we arrived we were given a hard time at check-in.
My Husband booked the room for us in my name. When
we arrived thaey would not let us check-in because my
husband was not with us. After a long struggle. We were
allowed to check-in. We were paid for a premier room but
when we got to the room, the room was not a premier room.
We called the front desk and they said we were in a premier
room. We asked for sheets and pillows for the pull-out. The
front desk said they would take care of it right away. We left
and went to dinner. When we returned the sheets were never
delivered. We then had to call the front desk again and request
the sheets, blankets and pillows. The next morning when we
went to use the bathroom the ceiling was hanging down with
water leaking everywhere. We notified the front desk and they
moved us to another room. They told us they upgraded us to
a premier room for our trouble. Well since we paid for the premier
room in the first place how could this be an upgrade? When we
got to the room it was a nicer room. I feel we were taken advantaged
of and were not given the room we paid for. The next day we came
back at the end of the day and our room was not cleaned. We called
the front desk and ask them why the room was not cleaned and
they told us they do not clean the rooms. Are you kidding me.
After going to the front desk and complaining. They said if we
request it they would clean the room. I could go on and on about
our bad expeirences but I think you get the drift of what this hotel
is all about. Do Not stay here!"

"initially we were very impressed with the hotel. When we turned down the bed covers we first saw black hairs and glitter on the sheets, We pulled the sheets and other covers all the way back and saw more hair, food droppings, and other dirt on the sheets. It was disgusting. We don't think the sheets had even been changed from previous guest. We called the front desk and they immediately came and changed the sheets. I watched and had to ask them to also change the pillowcases. I took pictures on my cell phone camera of the debris on the sheets and will share them as proof if needed. Hopefully, through this review we will get more than just a verbal 'we are sorry' . The hotel itself is convenient and the shuttle service is very nice."

"We stayed at the Royal Plaza because it was close to the work training I had to attend. We got a great deal at $69/night with an upgrade, then when we got there we got upgraded again so our little one could see downtown disney. Our room was super small compared to our fellow coworkers that were not upgraded so if a view isn't important don't upgrade. Also, the buy one get one dinner is only for 1 night of your stay and is restrictive as to what you can order.
I would stay here again for the price, but hated the Disney bus services! Waited over an hour one night, not hotels fault though. Would really look at the deals Disney is doing as right now they running a package that includes meals and transportation to and from airport. Most expensive part of our trip was the meals so that is a great savings."

"Hotel was fine. At first we were put in a room where the room balcony faced the highway side of the building. Since it was cool, we had the air off and you could really hear the cars on the highway. We asked to be moved. The other room was much quieter although the view was a roof top. At least it was quiet."

"We had a ground floor, patio room over looking the pool, which is not the upgraded room offered on the bookit special, but we preferred to be able to open the patio door and sit outside. Room was spacious and tastefully decorated. Hot tub and pool area was nice. We ate a continental breakfast at the Giraffe restaurant every morning and thought the price and offering was good. Had a car ($10 per day parking fee), but never used it to traverse the area going to the theme parks because the hotel's every 1/2 hour shuttle service worked very well. I thought the hotel's location, price, and amenities were perfect for our 4 night WDW vacation."

"The location is what this hotel has going for it , The staff was friendly and the front desk was very helpful,, the hotel room carpet needs deep cleaned or replaced, the balconies they claim they have are a sham,, you can't open the door to get out on them and too small anyway , so why list them at all .. lighting in the bathroom way tooo dark old tv bad reception, Don't recommend the restaurant , I asked for one hot choco and waiter brought two by mistake and charged me for it , Calamari was very good,,however the rest of the meal not very good ,, way too many other places close by with better food for the price, Over all it was ok I wouldn't stay there again"

"We were a little nervous at first because we read some bad reviews on the trip advisor site, but there was nothing really bad about the hotel. We were not in the tower rooms, so we cannot comment on those. We were on the second floor and I would say it would rate about a step above a Comfort Inn. The room was a bit outdated. If you want some heat at night instead of air, you have to ask the maintenance man to come in and manually open the vent to turn the switch and the porcelain bathtub had marks on the bottom where porcelain had chipped off. I would say our room receives a 3 star rating while the lobby and restaurant receive a 4 star rating."

"As others have stated, the staff was warm and friendly. The hotel was dated. We stayed in a king suite and it didn't feel special because the room was in desperate need of an updating. The food was mediocre, the pool area was pretty and I think they are making an effort to improve. You will want to request a room FAR away from an elevator because it will keep you awake. This can be a good deal for a night, but I wouldn't stay here for a full week."

"My family just spent 5 days at the Royal Plaza in Disney World and it was a great experience. This was our first booking with bookit.com and everything was exactly as promised. "This was our sixth stay at the hotel and it seems to get better with each visit. We have to rate everything as excellent. This stay, we bought some items at the Animal Kingdom and had them shipped to the hotel thru the Disney service. They were suppose to arrive the next day. After a day at the parks, we checked at the desk upon our return only to find the package had not been delivered. The young lady behind the desk spent 40 minutes finding out where the package was and why it was not delivered. Feeling bad about our inconvenience, she then gave us tickets for free breakfast the rest of our stay. The package arrived the next morning. We are looking forward to staying there again when we return for the Epcot Flower Show in the spring."

"The Staff at the Royal Plaza is absolutely the best thing about the hotel.
We were treated with kindness from everyone from the front desk check in person, especially one who went out of her way to make our stay even better! The Shuttle Bus to Disney is convenient to the front entrance and runs every half hour to and from the park. All and all it is a good value."

"I booked this hotel because I found a good deal for 5 nights and I'm glad I did. I read many reviews and I was skepitcal and even thought of canceling my reservation and booking elsewhere. Glad I didn't!!!! The hotel was clean, location was great near downtown disney and near all the food restaurants. The shuttle to the disney parks was a GREAT add-on! The breakfast was yummy especially the FRENCH TOAST... So yummy! The only con I had was that our view from the balcony wasn't the best, It was the side of the building so not much of a view and the elevators were loud. Besides that everything else was perfect. :)"

"I would say the Royal Plaza was mediocre. It was good enough for the money. They need to deal with some mildew in the jacuzzi/shower. Also, they could use a refrigerator in the room.
The view was lovely of the different park's fire works. The Giraffe restaurant had large qualities of food but just okay quality."

"Stayed for 6 nights. Advertising had led me to believe that we would receive a larger room being a premier tower room, floors 12 and up. Staff was very accomodating and willing to move us to a king bed room which was much larger. But, hence there is only one king bed and the pull out mattress was not very inviting. So we chose to stay in the smaller room with 2 dbls for 6 nights and it was a little cramped. Small bathroom but nice jet tub. The air system is very noisy. Beds are comfortable. If we stayed here again it would have to be a suite to accomodate our family of 4. Buses on most occasions ran smoothly. Staff at the Cafe very friendly and provided great service. The free breakfast worked well for us. Elevators were a little scary, made horrendous noises. Older hotel. We did get an excellent deal through bookit!!!"

"I always review hotel stays prior to booking and the reviews were spot on regarding this hotel. Very clean, spacious and the rooms were really beyond what I expected for what I paid. I recently stayed at another resort for twice the price and The Royal Plaza far exceeded the other hotel. Better yet, the price included daily buffets for two. We enjoyed our breakfast for the three days we stayed there. Great hot breakfast and the wait staff was very attentive. The shuttle was also another benefit. It collects you and drops you off at the tickets area. Pick ups are on time and space was never an issue. The only thing, you have to pay a $10.00 daily parking fee. Not an issue since parking at the park is $14.00 a day. I think you'll enjoy yourself just like we did. Oh, one other thing, the TV is a bit dated so you won't be able to connect any high end electronics like I had planned to watch a movie since hotels don't have DVD's."

"Our trip was great. The hotel was a surprise for the deal we had. Very upscale and the staff was friendly and helpful. There were a couple of incidents in the restaurant with our waiters but everyone has a bad day....only complaint is that the hotel offers coupons for deals on meals and drinks and they are not true to the value or deal that you recieve.....don't tell me I can get a pizza for 16.99 and then end up paying over 30 dollars when it comes.....that would be the only complaint. If you offer someone a buy one get one free then stand by it.....overall it was a wonderful experience."

"The hotel was nice. Spent more time in hotel than I had hoped due to a lot of rain. The staff was nice. The hotel rooms were roomy. The shower curtain and rods were aged, but clean. I liked being within a 10 minute walk to Downtown Disney in one direction and 10 minute walk to supermarket and other dining areas."

"This hotel was a great value thanks to Book it. Luckily, the resort fee was waived, but there is a $10 per car/per day fee. Proximity to Downtown Disney is ideal, and shuttle runs every thirty minutes, including after special events (Not so Scary Halloween Party!), so you save the $14 parking fee right there. Also close to crossroads, which is area of chain restaurants if you want to avoid pricey Disney restaurants. I felt the rooms were comfortable, yet dated. The furniture is straight out of the 80's but the bathrooms appeared more updated. TV reception was fair at best, only noticed because we were stuck in due to large rain this past weekend. Still a bargain for the price."

"This trip was booked for my mother's first trip to Orlando and to celebrate my mother's birthday (and mine). From the time we entered the property, we were greeted with a very efficient staff, clean, beautifully kept surroundings, very comfortable rooms, and a truly enjoyable experience throughout our stay. Even with the amount of guests, coming and going throughout the day and evenings, it was a very restful trip for us. I have stayed at the Royal Plaza once before (15 years ago) and enjoyed this trip as well. My mother thouroughly enjoyed her birthday trip and was quite pleased with everything at the Royal Plaza. Bravo for making my mother's first trip to Orlando and birthday so special and memorable for her!"

"Recently visited Royal Plaza Hotel and was pleased with the location, easy to find etc. Check in was a little slow and the first room offered was on the second floor and had a view of a brick wall! I asked for another room as we were travelling with my father who is 82 and on his first trip to the US. They changed the room immediately to the 8th floor which was much better.
The biggest problem was internet access as even though I am on vacation, I still need to keep in touch with my work. I purchased a 24 hour internet access (which was the minimum - a 1 or 2 hour would have been useful) and although I could check the internet, emails that I sent sat in my Outbox and did not send until I was back in the UK - very frustrating and a complete waste of money ($9.95).
The only reason I would not recommend to a friend is that there are plenty of hotels in this vicinity and there was nothing at this hotel that screamed 'I must come back' - you need a USP (unique selling point)."

"Royal Plaza Hotel is a great place to stay for families on a budget, yet it is still a very high quality facility. Rooms are spacious and modern. We were not expecting much based on some reviews, but it has the look and feel of a first class hotel. Any Disney property has to meet certain standards, and we were not disappointed. The staff was friendly. Waiters and waitresses were the best. The only complaint we had was that the Tiki Bar at the pool was never open, so we did not get that relaxing drink around the pool atmosphere. This probably has to do with the fact that neither the pool nor the restaurant had much business (except breakfast), which is too bad because the Giraffe Restaurant and lounge is pretty good. Depending on the deal you get, you can't beat the price for the quality, location and convenience."

"If it matters - and it did to us - they charge for wifi access and parking. Ten dollars a day for each. I didn't know of the parking charge until after I'd booked the room, and didn't know of the wifi charge until arriving. I assumed that wifi and parking would be free/included, as they are other places we've been.
Also thought there would be a little refrigerator in the room (though I didn't ask ahead of time) and there wasn't. Also no elevators in our building so we dragged the luggage up and down the stairs.
Apart from that, the room was clean and comfortable with a great shower, staff was very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was delicious with lots of choices. Two eat without an extra charge but we had a child with us. For adults the breakfast is $15 and a child $9.
Shuttles to the Disney parks are easy and convenient. (and free) The pool is nice and large and there is a hot pool/spa too. Plenty of restaurants and fast food around, and very close to downtown Disney if that's an interest.
I will probably choose another place next time, but it wasn't a bad experience at all."

"The hotel had a glorious bathroom. It was gorgeous! The room was the usual. There were hidden costs in the hotel such as with parking, use of the internet and printer, and 18% gratuity already added into the restaurant bill (which can be handy since you don't have to figure in) but I felt a bit on the nervey since it wasn't exactly even a 3 star restaurant because there was a bug crawling on the wall as I was eating. This was NOT appetizing.
The shuttle was convenient to Epcot. On the way back the driver took the scenic route through an additional hotel driveway, even though we were the only couple on the bus, for no particular reason.
The entire staff was very pleasant at the hotel, I must say."

"According to the friendly hotel clerk, our room was an upgrade. None of the light bulbs were working, the shower liner in the bathroom had mold all over it as did the corners in the bathtub. The drawers in the furniture did not open and the view from the room was horrific. Cigaret buds all over the ground. The room faced an ugly building. If that was an upgrade, I wonder what the regular room is. The value at the Giraffe cafe , another issue. The so called 'Value ' coupon could only be used on an entre. They had only four choices. So, we paid $18.00 for a small piece of chicken , mushrooms and gravy called 'Marsala'. No bread , no salad. Not a great bargain Sorry, Royal Palace', I will not return."

The 1/2 pillows were not great and the air conditioner overflow kept leaking into my bathroom sink. The air conditioner had the sound of a freight train. I am sure the air conditioner will be fixed, but I am not sure Royal Plaza will place regular pillows in the rooms

"We had a one-night stay at Royal Plaza. We arrived at night and were given a spacious room. However, my wife was horrified to find bed bugs when she turned over the sheets. We reported it to the night manager and were transfered immediately to another room on the same floor. Our second room was nice, clean and just as spacious. We had a very pleasant stay the rest of the time. It would have been an outstanding experience overall, had the bed bugs did not happen. "

"We stayed here for the weekend...went to Blizzard Beach and Downtown Disney. It was OK. The staff was wonderful. But the rooms were small. No Fridge. No Microwave. The T.V. satelittle kept going out. The location is AWESOME. You can walk to Downtown DIsney. But the accomadations are just alright."

"The hotel was great. The location was perfect. The response of the staff was very prompt. We had an issue with the shower head and water pressure and made a call to the front desk and they sent someone right away to fix it. It was fixed immediately. The rate we got on bookit.com was excellent for the quality stay we had. We would definitely stay there again!"

"We stayed at the Royal Plaza Hotel for four (4) nights and our stay was very nice. Our room was on the first floor with a private patio from which we could walk right out to the pool which was lovely. The hotel needs a bit of updating (bathrooms) but room was very clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant and bar had a limited menu but food was okay - buffet breakfast was good and offered quite a variety of food: eggs, cereal, waffle, toast and delicious fresh fruit! Coffee was always fresh. Free shuttle to Downtown Disney & Disney Parks was convenient. Was worth the value and would recommend. P.S. Just don't smoke in your room! "

" The staff was very friendly and helpful. The Tower Room w/King was very nice and a very good value. The room seemed fairly spacious compared with others I've stayed at. The baths seperate shower w/glass inclosure and garden tub big enough for two was a plus. The room was clean and well set up. The bed was comforable.
The negatives. During our 2 night stay We had a few minor items. the first night the Hot Tub wasn't hot, it was more like a warm bath,. The second evening it was closed and didn't open untill around check-out time the next morning. But things happen. The second item because we didn't wat to leave the hotel, is the limited entre's at Giraffe Cafe, if I recall there were only five total. More sandwiches / snack like items.

"Nice Hotel, had corner room with shower and huge tub, very nice. Room was of good size, you could sleep five or six with the pull out loveseat. TV's were older and pool area was plain. "This is a great economical place to stay. The rooms were very clean and nicely decorated, although older. Would recommend new TVs as an update. Would also like to recommend having a safe, refrigerator and microwave as standard options in the room - added charge for this is a downer especially since this is a family friendly resort. The cafe had delicious food although there is a long line to get in for morning breakfast. Room Service was fast and terrific! The Bar offered top shelf liquors and my son loved the game room, pool and hot tub. I will be back to the Royal Plaza, the welcoming amenities offered to my family was great!"

"Large room and bathroom, great view of Orlando, friendly and accomodating staff.
I'd read a few reviews about the view of the fireworks at night. All it took was a simple request at check-in for a room to see them and a king sized bed. The young lady at the desk said, 'Let me see what we have, sir.' and just like that, it was granted. The view from the 9th floor, especially during sunrise and sunset was breathtaking. The bathroom was huge with a large shower and a whirlpool-sized tub for two. Bartender - fun! Giraffe Cafe - exceptional service. Poolside bar - excellent. And it's literally right down the street Downtown Disney - walking distance if you hit the bars / clubs and didn't want to drive but there's so much in terms of public transportation, walking wouldn't be necessary. I'd definitely crash out at this place again.
I assume everyone wants to know what 'the negative' is, since that's the world the world turns, so here it is from my perspective - the balcony isn't really a balcony, it's just a small ledge you can't step onto. The sliding glass door only opens about 6 - 8 inches, just enough to let warm, beautiful Florida air in - so if you want to stand on the balcony, overlooking Orlando with a drink in hand, you'd have to ask about whether or not there are any rooms to accomodate that desire. An asterisk I'll stick in my back pocket for (hopefully) next time. "

Also, the shuttles on the way back from the park took a very long time. They could add another one or 2 to the route.
