Book an oceanfront room! Gorgeous views, modern decor, nice amenities...and did I mention the view? For the price, you cannot go wrong. This property is housed in a former slice and bake building, however the experience is far from the humdrum experience one would expect. The hotel is clean, comfortable, and well appointed. I am always cautious when booking "off chain", however Amara Cay was exactly as described and pictured on their website. I was greeted with a warm welcome and attentive servi... Read more

We brought our 7 month old for a short 2 day vacation. We went to the pool and my daughter was terrified by the sound of chain saws and hammers working on the structure. We decided to go to the beach for some peace and quite and were asked to leave because they were taking photos. We went back to the room and the smoke alarm goes off twice while our daughter was sleeping. A staff member told us they don't know why it goes off that they keep the alarm guy on the property full time to turn it off.... Read more

Stayed one night and found the staff to be amazing. The room and hotel super clean and appealing. Great place to stay on your way to Key West. We were told that this was previously an Outback Steakhouse! The location, Tiki Bar, and pool are all super. They were still building out some of the exterior landscape. It is on the water as well. You won't be disappointed.

We stayed one night at the Amara Cay Resort. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The rooms are spacious and well designed. The downstairs reception and bar area is award winning stuff, and is just fantastic; the grounds and beach area are at the same level. We went out early in the am, sat in the chairs facing the ocean, and were just blown away by the peaceful beauty. The Resort provides hammocks, chairs, loungers by the docks. Right next to the Resort's dock/beachfront is a dive center. We ... Read more

I haven't been to the Keys in over 20 years & since we stayed with family during those visits I didn't have much 1st hand knowledge of hotel options. I reserved our room just a couple of days before & the first couple of options weren't available. I'm so glad we gave Amara Cay a try. The setting is absolutely beautiful. As Dave, our helpful concierge explained, The Amara is only 2 years old & was re-built on the site of a older hotel. It's a contemporary take on the laid back Keys vibe. Very... Read more

Very relaxing hotel...beautiful calm waters, however no beach. Nice restaurant, overpriced but everything in the keys is expensive. Pool area was nice...rooms were very clean and updated, however the hallways looked dated. Ceiling and wallpaper were peeling off a bit, but maybe the salt water does that?? IDK..Definitely going back though..good price for a great overnight stay.

We spent two nights at the resort during the Thanksgiving holiday. The resort is beautiful. They have a beautiful beach and newly renovated pool with many chairs so you don't have to rush to get one like you do at most resorts. They have games that you can play outside by the beach or pool (corn hole, a large connect four game) as well as a book share just in case you finish your book while you are relaxing. They have an outside bar which serves food. I got the shrimp skewer and it was amazing... Read more

My family and I have been vacationing many many years in the Keys and have seen it evolve over the years. We were so pleased to have booked Amara Cay, because the updates to the hotel really speak to the dedication of the tourism industry in keeping up with the times! It's set on a lovely piece of property directly on the ocean and has it's own little beach with about a dozen lounge chairs and a pool with outdoor dining. The hotel was completely refurbished and it has that very modern Malibu hi... Read more

Spent one night at Amara Cay on our way up the Keys. The hotel has just about finished a major restoration (as of 11/19/16). They have done a terrific job on every detail I could name. Very nice lobby, rooms are completely redone with modern finishes. Very spacious. New pool, new lounging area near the water. Staff very friendly & helpful. If I was staying in Upper Keys again, I would absolutely consider Amara Cay!

I reserved a King room with a view. The room was nice and the view was of the large flat roof to with ac units (room 305). What a disappointment! The hotel is newly remodeled and is nicely decorated. The staff are very friendly. There was one couple hanging at the inside bar over the weekend and I didn't see anyone eating at the restaurant. The prices were expensive on the menu. We went out of the hotel to eat out meals. The pool was very nice with the lights at night. There was no one out aroun... Read more
