I was exceptionally impressed with this hotel as most hotels in the Florida Keys are rundown or outdated however that was not the case at the Amara Cay. Everything at the resort with the exception of the pool (which is next to be updated) was brand new. All of the decor had a neutral, clean, and tranquil feel without overpowering bright tropical colors which is different and very relaxing from typical Keys hotels. We did have some trouble when we first got to the hotel with minor issues such as ... Read more

This would have been a five-star review, but if not for the ROWDY, rowdy, ROWDY, guests who spent their Memorial Day weekend at this resort. I understand that the partiers from Miami come down to Islamorada to drink and yell over holiday weekends. That was our experience to be sure. There were no chairs to be found around the pool, nor on the man-made concrete "beach". (The ocean water near the steps is not clean, and many were bitten by jelly fish, so you should stay in the pool if you want... Read more

My wife found a deal on the Internet so we pointed the car south and in a few hours arrived at this recently refurbished hotel resort. We were greeted by Jennifer, a very friendly and pleasant person, who seemed to be at the desk smiling every time we went by. Our room on the 5th floor overlooking the pool with a side view of the ocean was new and neat and very comfortable. The pool, while not olympic size, is perfect and well situated inside the L shaped building with a Tiki bar on the far ... Read more

We have been here several times-the last time while it was under renovation. This time was worth the wait! It is lovely and relaxing. The location is close to two of our favorite places-the midway cafe and lazy days so we really love it here as a family!

Amara Cay is a lovely hotel in a great location! The hotel has excellent customer service. The rooms were spacious. My only complaint would be that there was a wine fridge rather than a regular fridge and no microwave. They are currently building a new pool but the existing one was good enough. Snorkeling in the reef was fun for the kids. Lots of families there!

We had an Oceanfront room on the ground floor and would have preferred one a little higher up. Lots of foot traffic in front of our patio which is always uncomfortable when you are sitting out there. Loved the decor of the room and the resort overall. Bed was super comfortable. There was a fridge and supposed to have had a Keurig coffee maker but there was none. Took 3 calls to get one delivered. The cleaning staff did not leave washcloths the first day or towels the last day. We had to call ag... Read more

We tried out this place that used to be the Hampton Inn because online it looked very inviting. The lobby area and the rooms are nice. However, I cannot believe that they put the high end restaurant (which we heard has amazing food) dead in the middle of the lobby so that people are walking by you in bathing suits as you fine dine. Very awkward and not inviting so we canceled our reservation and went to Chef Michael's (amazing). Also, they put so much money into the place but did not update t... Read more

We loved it! It has all been remodeled. The rooms were very comfortable. The reception area was nice and beachy. We hung out at a large table in that area with another family and played cards and ate snacks. The rum runners were wonderful and Omar fixed the best margarita I've ever had (no mixes, made from scratch). The kids cracked coconuts they found(I snacked on it), chased iguanas and made wonderful memories. We'll be back.

I go to the Keys usually 3 times a year. This is the first time I have stayed at Amara Cay. However, it won't be the last. There is nothing negative at all. The beach is great, housekeeping is wonderful and helpful. The outside Tiki bar was perfect and Eddie the bartender, couldn't be nicer! Islamorada has many good places to eat, but the food at Amara couldn't be beat. All in all, my 4 days couldn't have been better because I stayed at Amara Cay.

What a disappointment. The lobby is very nice, but the room walls are paper thin. We heard kids running in hallway, doors slamming, televisions playing, people walking above. We could even hear what they were saying, more than we wanted to know. For the price of this resort, someone did not plan well when building it. We left unrefreshed. Would have mentioned it to management, but what can they do about it?

We spent 4 days at Amara Cay and could not have asked for anything more. The rooms are brand new and we love the wood like tile throughout the entire room. The pool and beach were very relaxing and not overcrowded. The staff is the most friendly we have ever encountered, everyone goes out of their way to make your stay more enjoyable. Very cool bar in the reception area. The shuttle driver took us everywhere, we never had to use our car until the day we left. Will definitely be back again!

We were very pleased with our 4 night stay here recently. The only thing that would make the room better would be to have a microwave and actual fridge, even a mini. The staff was all great and the tiki bar fabulous. We went to the pool daily and loved seeing the lizards hanging out! My son and I spent time down at the water and saw some awesome stuff! We had a stingray swim right under us as we dangled our legs over the side. You will not be getting in this water unless you are boating or kayaki... Read more

This hotel was very lovely. We were on the 5th floor with a resort view. The balcony was so large and the room was gorgeous and very updated. We stayed Friday and Saturday night. The tiki bar was king of dead but it was nice. The hammocks are usually occupied. Lol their beach is adorable. Very nice area to just lay and tan. The water wasn't really nice to swim in- it had a ton of algae and made my body itch when I got out. But I still loved laying BY the water. Pool was heated and not very clea... Read more

Walking into the Amar Cay Resort's 'designed for fun' lobby just puts a big smile on your face. It's just the start of a wonderful time at Amara Cay. This resort has it all - both a lovely lobby bar and Sparrow's Rum Bar sitting right on the resort's beautiful private beach. The resort's two restaurants offer diverse dining with unique casual fare on the water and creative Southern Italian food nestled in the eclectic lobby. The Breakfast Menu will delight you too. My husband and I decided to celebrate our anniversary in the Florida Keys. I found Amara Cay on the internet. I liked what I read on their site, and the photos were the "hook" that reeled me in. We spent four very lovely, relaxing days there. The full hot breakfasts on-site were fantastic, and they were complimentary. Amenities: Swimming pool in sight of the Atlantic.. Pool-side Tiki-hut bar for a convenient beverage of your choice. On-site upscale restaurant. A well-stocked boutique with ... Read more

The bathrooms are amazing. We stayed in the suite and it was just like a 1 bedroom apartment. I absolutely loved loved this hotel. Elizabeth and Daniel from the front desk are the best! They helped me upgrade and made me very very happy!!!!!

My wife and I had to help our mother-in-law buy a car from a dealership in Homestead so we decided to go to Islamorada as we were halfway there. We have stayed at the property a couple of times before and always had a wonderful experience. When we got to the hotel we were pleasantly surprised, as they had a Oceanview Suite available that we were able to upgrade to at a reasonable price. The room was big and beautiful. Unfortunately we are going to be depressed when we come back and can't... Read more

We stayed here one night on the way to Key West. We arrived after 10pm. It was very clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. Comfy bed too. I woke up too see the sunrise. Very peaceful beach. Super nice ladies at the restaurant: Marge and the Manager ( I wish I remembered her name). Very, very friendly and made us feel special and welcomed. I feel like my vacation started earlier than planned.

This was previously a Hampton Inn that was purchased and converted to a wonderful, more modern resort. They did an excellent job. Everyone from the front desk to the restaurant staff was wonderful ! Employees got to know our names, greeted us whenever they saw us and were all around super friendly. We got to know Linda and Marge in the restaurant very well as they helped us with breakfast each day. They were THE BEST!!! Resort was clean and quiet even with the new pool construction going on. We enjoyed a three night stay which included a continental breakfast. We were more than surprised that their "continental breakfast" was much more than we expected. Eggs prepared any way, pancakes, etc. The room was quite large and nicely done. The staff were all very friendly and attentive from the front desk to the restaurant staff. From Amara Cay, we did a day trip to Key West and enjoyed returning to Islamorada in the evening. Quiet beach for an afternoon of R&R.

They do it right. The inside is fresh and inviting with nautical appointments and and cozy areas divided as the restaurant, bar, swing chairs and seating areas reminiscent of a west indies resort lobby. The appetizers were exceptional and the service, very good. Friends and I visited on a quiet off-season evening and loved the island vibe!

Nice hotel-- however the best part of all was the professionalism of front desk agent(supervisor?) David Levy. I had left a medical device in the room and subsequently checked out of hotel leaving the device behind. When I realized my mistake and long gone from the hotel I called in a panic thinking perhaps the device got thrown out. David Levy sprung into action and was not only able to track it down, but went to the post office himself and mailed it out priority. Much to my relief and gratit... Read more

I have spend 2 days at this hotel. The Hotel was partially undergoing renovation but it did not bother us at all. On the contrary, it was very easy to see the gorgeous transformation that was happening there. Out room was very clean and open. Parking was easy. My compliments to front desk, reservation and housekeeping, all were very friendly and attentive. Great stay if you are in the area, very intimate, very vibrant, very live!

What a great find! We found a great rate for a Saturday night and gave it a try. The resort is newly remodeled so everything has been redone or is being redone and is new. The lobby was very pretty with hanging wicker chairs giving it a very tropical feel. There is a very large bar on one side, and more seating with high back wicker chairs and overlooks the pool area. The pool is a little on the small side, but it was not crowded. They have a hot tub in a covered tiki hut which makes for a... Read more
