I wasn't too keen as we pulled off the road and into the smallish parking lot. My disappoint ended right there. The room was decorated in unique furniture. The views incredible and the cleanliness easily appreciated. Do yourself a favor and check this place out!

This wonderful clean resort is a gem in Islamorada. I was pleasantly surprised with our beautifully decorated room. The pool is nice the grounds are heavenly with all its hammocks and sitting areas. We went with family we cooked both nights on the charcoal grill the resort provides.

Stayed for several nights in this gem of a place in the Keys! This place is quaint, quiet and clean. Even though the property is not large, this is definitely an advantage. We have stayed at larger resorts in the past and you feel like you cannot escape other people! But not here! Even though the place was fully booked while we were there, several times we were the only ones in the pool, which is such a refreshing thing when you are on vacation. The staff was very friendly and helpful throughout... Read more

Don't expect anything fancy or special at this place, or you'll be disappointed. Great if you are on a budget, but it's definitely average. I had high expectations based on the reviews and photos, so I was disappointed. I had looked quickly at the photos and thought there was a beach, but no, just a pool and "sand area" but no access to the water for a dip.

We stayed one night and wish we had stayed longer. The bungalows are old but clean and very well decorated with a small kitchenette, great AC and your own patio. You definitely get that tropical island feel from the decor and color scheme. It is a small property and gives a feel like you are on your own island. The staff are friendly, accommodating and helpful. I highly recommend Drop Anchor Resort. We will return and stay longer!

It's hard to get a reasonably priced room in the Keys! Our room was very spacious and clean. The included toiletries allowed us the luxury of packing a little lighter. The patio out back would have been a great place to relax if we'd stayed longer. The front desk knew where to find the only key lime meringue pie in the area. The only thing I would disagree with is that they say every room has a view. We had a view of the trailer they rent from our porch.

I feel like I would have enjoyed this place a lot more had I been in a different room. I recommend avoiding room 14B. Pros: - Good location; you're a quick drive to everything in Islamorada - Friendly staff - Clean room - "Beach area" is nice; good place to relax with a drink - Room had a mini fridge and a nice television - Free WiFi, always a plus! - Room 14B is close to the pool/"beach" area Cons (note, these all relate specifically to room 14B): - Room is extremely small, especially the ba... This place was clean and the front desk helpful. However, it looks much better in the pictures. Can't swim in ocean out front. Pool small and just ok. Smelled bad sitting in the chairs out front ( natural fishy smell, but unpleasant non the less). Looks like white sand but in reality it was more like gravel. Beds comfy and rooms clean. Nice salt scrub in shower. It's very middle of the road.

This was our first time at the Drop Anchor Resort. We stayed in room 10 and found it spacious and clean. To our surprise, it had a full kitchen, includes utensils, pots, pans, cups, etc..The bathroom was sufficient, and so was the shower pressure. The second story balcony did have a water view. The one issue we had was the air conditioner. Granted, it was blowing out cold air, but it just wasn't getting the room as cold as we wanted it. Also, the temperature outside felt like 100 degrees ... Read more

My room was clean and well maintained. Front desk personnel and owner were very helpful and courteous. Few amenities, but has a nice pool and beach-like area to relax. It is ocean front property, but no beach. My grandkids had fun fishing around the numerous fishing boats docked there. It's close to several good seafood restaurants. Overall, I would recommend this for an affordable weekend getaway.

I must be missing something. This place is rated one of the highest in Islamorado on Trip advisor. First thing to say is that it isn't a resort. It is a motel with about 14 rooms. Second thing to say is that it is old. The room itself and all the decorations need throwing away and starting again. We came back from a meal to find both bedrooms crawling with bugs. To be fair the guy on reception did look upset and said there would be no problem getting a refund but at 9pm at night we had no ... Read more

This property was a great find in northern Islamorada. It's not new, but well maintained. Check-in was a breeze and all of the rooms are waterfront. We stayed in #7 and it was a great size with and amazing view! The room was clean and the decorations were super cute. The pool was right on the water and we had fun watching the boats pass. Great location, wonderful rates, and the motel was just as pictured/described - when I walked in the room I felt like I knew where everything was from the website pictures. I recommend this property for the budget conscious. If you are looking for a clean up to date place to sleep then this is it. We stayed in the out building in a VERY small room. The bathroom was smaller than some RV's I have owned. But lets be serious I didn't spend a whole amount of time in it either. The location is fabulous with beautiful sunrise views. There are many rundown tourist traps in this set of Keys and this place falls in there, because of lack of simple care . This place seemed cool when you looked at the area, but was just a little ghetto. All they needed to do was replace the shades and rusty toilet paper holder (and 10 other inexpensive things like that) and this review would have read "Satisfied". All in all, it was a pit stop, and I thank goodness for that. Could have been so much better with a few tiny maintenance items.

It was small yet it met all of my needs. we booked the trailer which was number 17 and had a grand time. All the comforts of home including TV, fridge, stove. Etc. The pool area and the palms stole the show as well as the parrots and the various types of lizards running around. Rented a boat for the week and rented a slip which was just a place to tie up nightly b... Read more

My husband and I were pleasantly surprised at the room we had (#9) overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The building is sturdy, the bed comfy and the view to die for... Tom, the man who registered us, was friendly and personable. I liked that we received a courtesy call from a lady from the motel touching base the evening of checking in. Nice touch. I'm not one to stay at a motel. In fact, we tend to stay in the Hilton Hotels. I'm not saying this reaches the standards of a such a "hotel," but f... Read more

Nice place, great location, has mini kitchen and big fridge. Lots of places to sit on the sand. Our room was behind the office, but did have a porch in the front and the back...better to walk out to the sand and breakwall. Only problem was wifi...worked about 5% of the time. Only stayed overnight. Friendly. Love this "old Florida" style instead of the big chains.

Clean, cozy place. No coffee available until 9:00 when the front office opens. Great view, right on the water. You cannot beat the view here. We didn't get to enjoy much of it as we were only here one night. Cute little pool, also right on the ocean's edge and some picnic tables and Adirondack chairs for chillin. Lights on the property at night were bright blue, although cool to for ambience, the blinds in the room don't keep this light out very well. Nice place, great view, but Islamorad... Read more

Beautiful beach like setting. Palm trees, sand, lounge chairs, can jump in the ocean, or swim in the waterfront pool. Charcoal bbq's available along with kitchenettes in units. Clean and comfortable. Loved visiting the set and bars where bloodlines was shot as took place in islamarada.

So, we're gearing up for our AWESOME Thanksgiving vacation when we call to confirm our reservations for the Honeymoon sweet and they have no record of us making the reservations months ago. They stated that something was wrong with our card, but NEVER called to confirm the card number OR figure out what the problem was with the card. Then they changed their story and said that they have no record of the reservation. We had even called back a few days after our reservation was placed and talked ... Read more

I've been coming to the Keys for about 14 years now. I have stayed in many resorts and have rented all types of houses. I have finally found the place that I will continue to return to. The staff is friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and funny The ocean views are endless. Please don't forget to go watch for shooting stars. The grounds are spotless and the sand is always raked. No coconuts laying around and they mist knock the old coconuts out of the trees so you don't have to worry about gettin... Read more

LOVE this place!!! The location and view were great. Close to Island Grill, which is a great place for a meal and/or drink. If you NEED a futon you may want to confirm room 15 has one because the description says there is one but I don't think so. Hope to stay here again... soon!

We first visited Drop Anchor for thanksgiving 2015 with my in-laws. We decided to come back this year because we absolutely loved it. We just left and have already booked again for next year! It's the perfect Keys feel, it's comfortable and relaxing! The owner Steve is always around if you need something and is more than accommodating! We love Drop Anchor and can't wait to come back!

We booked this based on the reviews for a week around Thanksgiving. I have been looking at the pictures for a long time and had high expectations. I was sure I was going to be disappointed. I wasn't. We had one of the best holidays we have had in a long time. The pool was heated to 80 degrees- perfect for swimming. Our toddler was in there every day, and he doesn't like cold water. They had beach towels, as much coffee as we could drink, and everything was always super clean. We cooked dinner an... Read more

We arrived late and we're very glad office staff looked out for us by making arrangements for us to access our very comfortable room late in the evening. The bed and pillows were so comfortable that we ordered the pillows on Amazonđ???. Rooms are very spacious, comfortable with a big shower, fridge, coffee maker, etc. it's quiet here and backs to the ocean with a nice heated pool and dock for boats. Overall a great bargain.
