The Ramada Plaza Beach Resort, located on 800 feet of the world`s most beautiful beaches, awaits your arrival. Each and every one of the staff members will do their personal best to ensure that you enjoy your stay. The 335 guest rooms have been tastefully designed for easy living. Standard and Courtyard rooms are conveniently located in our two-story buildings. The Poolside and Beachfront rooms are situated in our newly renovated six-story tower and feature private balconies.
The Ramada Plaza Beach Resort has been certified Green in the Florida Green Lodging Program by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). It is recognized as an environmentally conscientious lodging facility. This property practices many measures to conserve and protect Florida`s natural resources.
There`s something for everyone at the Ramada Plaza Beach Resort. Swim up under the five-story waterfall and enjoy a beverage in the Grotto Bar (seasonal). In addition to serving up refreshing, tropical drinks, the Grotto Bar also provides live entertainment. Sun yourself by one of the two crystal clear pools, one of which is heated. Or watch your children frolic in the kiddie pool or our amazing Splash Garden where giant misters, and whimsical fountains spray little ones with water and provide hours of fun. Beach chairs and umbrellas are available to rent. There are also several restaurants and lounges on property including the Garden Cafe, (serving breakfast, lunch and dinner), the Bayou Country BBQ (open for lunch seasonally), the Lobby Bar, (which has a happy hour reception for guests Mon-Fri.), the Grotto Bar and the Beach Bar which is located on the beach.
There is a poolside fitness center, a hot tub, 2 sun decks and even Alvin`s Island retail store where you can buy bathing suits, sunscreen or souvenirs.
Ramada Plaza Beach Resort can also accommodate large groups and special functions. There are two spacious beachfront banquet rooms available, plus other hospitality rooms throughout the property. The professional catering staff waits to assist you with facilities for up to 500 people. For business or pleasure or both, it`s the Ramada Plaza Beach Resort. "Very nice staff, great service all the way around. Our room was clean and cozy. The cafe was awesome...really good breakfast buffet. The beachfront view is just amazing. We probably sat on that balcony for 8 hours a day. Literally next door to the hotel is the Boardwalk...gift shops, restaurants and a variety of bars. Next to that is another great restaurant and the Pier. Next to that is the gulfarium. Our stay on Okaloosa Island couldn't have been better. The Ramada has to be the best value on the coast and I'd highly recommend this hotel to anyone."

"If everything was excellent as I say in your questionnaire (and it was), why do I give it a 4 rather than a 5 rating? Because I'm handicapped and I was traveling alone. Because the 'on the beach' building is too far for a handicapped person to walk to for meals or a drink or socializing and the only way i could get there was by wheelchair (kindly provided by the hotel) which meant getting one of the staff to push the wheelchair to the main building. The staff at this hotel is probably the best of hotels I've stayed at -- and I usually go to five star hotels when I travel. i went to the Ramada because of it's on the beach positioning. I can't walk very far and this room was right on the beach. But because of the buildings, I was isolated from being around other people. It's a great hotel and I have already recommended it to all of my non-handicapped friends. I would not recommend the hotel to a handicapped person as a beachfront property. I told them that I was handicapped and could not walk far at the time I booked this trip... the reason I wanted a room right on the beach was because I couldn't walk far. Had I been told that by getting a room on the beach I would become a prisoner in my hotel room, I would not have booked at this facility."

"had a pleasant stay, within the resort is tons of things to do, paths to walk trees plants, very nice scenery. Had alot of pools and activities for the kids, the room was small, and i was lied to over the phone in being told there were no micro waves in the rooms.. There was.. Overall it is a beautiful resort very clean and located w/in walking distance of the boardwalk and the gulf quarium. Loved it. WIll be back this time with the kids. Oh and one other negative was the drinks were over priced there.. (8.50 for a daquiry) is too exp.. and the resteraunt there was good but also a little pricey.. But overall it i will be recomending it to my friends. "

There was a resteraunt within the hotel although expensive it was good. The drinks are very pricey, a daquari was like 8.50. Perfect location its within walking distance of the boardwalk which has tons of things to do. Overall i enjoyed the stay and look forward to returning with the kids."

"When I walked into the lobby to check into the Ramada I was very pleased, everything was very nice and the staff very friendly... then we got to our room... HUGE disappointment in the rooms, it was more like staying in a cheep motel than a nice hotel which is what we were expecting. Way over priced for the room we had, I expected at the very least to have something separating the bathroom and the main room and that was not the case, not even a curtain to close. The beach was nice, the pools were nice, the lobby was very nice... the rooms, not so much, it was a huge let down for what we paid. Very crowded for 2 adults and 2 children, lets just say they did some trip photography because the way the rooms look online and what they look like when you get there are not the same. Will try a different hotel next time, will not stay here again. My husband and I are not even fancy people so for us to be disappointed in a room takes a lot. We decided to spend more money than we normally do so our girls could experience a 'NICE' hotel... we have all stayed in WAY nicer rooms that we paid a lot less for."

"The hotel room was way out-dated and extremely small for the price paid. Our rooms were more 'motel' like than hotel. However, it was clean, and the ameneties were very nice and kid friendly. We were right on the beach as indicated. Overall, the small dissappointment was nothing compared to the fun and didn't put a damper on our vacation. If you are only in the rooms for a short while, for sleeping and shower, it is worth it."

"Don't stay at this hotel unless you are 5'4' or shorter! If you are taller, you will be on your knees taking a shower as the shower head is so low. My husband is 6 foot and had to bend so far down that he was almost on his knees. I asked for a different room where the shower head would be higher up and they told me all of the rooms were this way. Can you say 'Updates needed?' The bathroom is really small and make sure to pack your own hair dryer. The one they provide, is a piece of crap! The breakfast bar was cold and there wasn't enough of a selection. Tasted like powdered eggs, YUCK! The pools seriously needed to be fixed. The bottom of the pools was cracking and had pieces coming off the bottem. I guess the only good thing I can say about this hotel would be that it is on the beach and the outside front is pretty. I will never stay here again and will not recommend this to anyone!!!"

"The rooms were way outdated for the price we paid but they with so much to do on site, you are hardly in your room anyway. The beds are so comfortable and I had no problems sleeping. There was no noise to keep us up at night. When we first arrived, we noticed our refrigerator was broken. We called up to the front desk to let them know and in a matter of minutes, maintenance was up there to replace it. They were very friendly and get a big thumbs up for being on the ball. The restaurant is kinda high priced and they didnt have chocolate milk for my little ones (they were 'out') and there was really no variety on their breakfast bar. The pools are really great. The grotto bar was very cool and of course the heated pool was a hit for the nighttime swims. The splash garden was very neat. The water was a bit chilly but with it being so hot, who cares! That was really a fun amenity. I would return to this property if we ever went back down there and I would recommend it."

"This hotel is VERY deceiving. When we first arrived to the hotel, we were in awe. The hotel seemed pretty nice. When we walked in the lobby, we are not disappointed as the lobby seemed quite nice as well. After a 15 hr drive, we finally arrived to the hotel at approx 115 pm. Hoping our room was ready, we asked if we could be checked in. They said that the room was not ready so we decided to walk around the hotel's facilities just to get to know the place. The hotel staff said they'd call us once our room was ready but we never got a call. Finally, around 330pm, we went back to the lobby to verify if our room was ready and they said it still wasn't ready. We didn't get into our room until exactly 400 pm. only to find that the room was extremely humid. We stayed there for four days. I was ready to check out after the first night. Unfortunately, this was non-refundable so we had to suck it up! We've stayed in hotels in the middle of nowhere but have never stayed in a hotel like this one. It definitely needs some serious updating. The hallways are dirty. The room, regardless of how cool it is (temperature wise), it feels sticky & humid. I don't know if it needs insulation or what is wrong but something is definitely wrong! I honestly would not recommend it."

"The Ramada is in an excellent location, right on the beach and within walking distance of some amazing restaurants, bars and stores.
The Ramada is a bit old and the rooms are nothing special, but worth the price for the location.
The company the hotel uses to rent beach chairs was shockingly rude and I would actually choose another hotel, just to avoid having to deal with the teenage boys running the chair and beach rental shack. I was completely ripped off ($30 per day for some rickety chairs. Rained for 5 minutes at 3 and the chair boys collected the chairs, practically dumping me on the beach, without any communication.
Staff was un-smilling and customer service was snappy and unhelpful, but again, great location."

"Very nice hotel for your money, if you are wanting a five star resort go somewhere else, if you are wanting a place to lay your head and enjoy all the fun at the beach than I would recommend staying here! Very affortable, our room was right in front of the pool, the only complaint I have was with the gift shop, they are supposed to open at 9:00, on our last day there we were waiting to get in, and they were still not open and it was 9:15, needless to say we drove down the street and spent our money at the other shops. "

"Overall it was a wonderful stay. We enjoyed just about every eminity there was to offer at the hotel. Hot tub, 2 swimming pools, grotto bar, beach bar, bbq cabana, cafe, etc. It was in close proximity to just about anything you needed, and a short drive to everything else! Our room was a bit small for a week stay. There wasn't enough room to spread out the suitcases. We purposely took a room facing the parking garage. It was inexpensive and we figured we were only going to be using the room for sleeping, showering, etc. It's the beach for heaven's sake! Stay outside as much as possible! Again it was a great experience!"

"We had a nice vacation overall. As we pulled up we were skeptical because it looked like a cheap motel. The rooms did live up to our initial observation but the facility had some really nice features including the waterfall pool and splash area for the kids. We traveled with 2 young kids and they enjoyed all the water features and we appreciated being close to the beach.
We were disappointed with our room and asked for an upgrade but there was none available. If we return we would request a beach view room with balcony. Our room faced the parking lot and was infested with flies!"

"I really loved the outside of the hotel and the cafe we ate in for breakfast was very nice. The hotel room itself was not big enough for my liking and they put us in a room that faced a parking lot! If I had known the room was that small I would have stayed somewhere else..it was not worth the price. The rooms desperately need to be updated/renovated. The bedspreads were old and the bathroom was tiny. Not enough room for both my husband and myself to put our clothes away. The one nice thing was the bed was good..linens were good and the air conditioner worked great. I wasn't expecting a huge room but enough to get around in without bumping into each other. My husband is disabled and walking to the beach was out as we were put on the OTHER side of the hotel. I told the desk clerk this upon checking in..he barely spoke to me when checking me, Not very good customer service."

"The Resort was decent. Geared more to families with small children. We payed for a pool side room with a private balcony and got a first floor room originally with a not so private balcony. We did manage to get a room change. The staff was very nice in everything. If we were to go back we would get a beachfront room. The rooms do need a facelift."

"The hotel was very nice and rooms were clean. However, the staff at the front desk (first impressions mean the most) was not the friendliest. Only two questions ever asked of the staff were 1) could we check in early and 2) late check out. These requests were obviously done at different times and staff could have been friendlier (especially on the early check-in on Friday). Couldn't figure out why a Monday was so busy and we couldn't check out late. I did realize the chances of checking in early were slim to none. We arrived around noon and tried around 1 pm to see if rooms had been cleaned. On a positive note, the BBQ outside grille was great. Both meals I had there were very good."

"This was a really nice hotel. The bedrooms weren't big but they were big enough. The beds were comfy. The pools were really nice. The grotto pool is really pretty but the water is cold. Then they have a heated whirlpool. We definitely enjoyed our stay here. I would have preferred it if they had an elevator but otherwise it was really nice. The beach was really nice and clean too! Their sink wouldn't drain cause the plug was broken and the toilet wouldn't flush but they fixed it as soon as we told them about it. If it wouldn't be for that I'd give it 5 stars."

"Great pool and beach access! Pizza, outiside grill, and bar avaiable so you do not have to leave the beach or pool all day. Gift shop had everything we needed too. Hotel room needed updating and was not the cleanest, but for the price we paid to be on the beach it was okay. I would recommend paying extra for rooms closer to the beach. They looked nicer and had balconies to lay out wet towels, etc. We would go back again but get a different room."

"Enjoyed the hotel. Some confusion during check-in. I was first given the option of several floors to choose from, so I picked the 4th floor. the desk clerk then left to talk with the manager. when he returned I was told the only room open was on the ground floor. I was really looking forward to sitting on the balcony looking at the Gulf. Being on the ground floor I could barely see the water and was right at the walkway level so anyone walking by would be right in front of me. When I asked the clerk what happened to the other choices of floors, he didn't respond at all. Just ignored the question. I loved the hotel. Nice pool areas, beach chairs for the guests."

"I really want to write an honest review, as we just got back from our family vacation (June 11-15, 2012), and I have a lot to say about the Ramada Inn Beach Resort... Mostly GOOD things!!!
First off, my husband and I and our daughters, ages two and five, had a GREAT time. We paid the extra $30 or so a night to stay in a beachfront room and we LOVED our view. I would definitely recommend everyone to book beachfront rooms, you will not be disappointed! We spent about 3-4 hours each day at the beach and about 3-4 hours each day at the wonderful pools that the hotel has on site. The beach had quite a bit of seaweed (I am assuming from the high amounts of rain that hit the beach the week before), however it was very easy to find a clear spot of beach just a few yards down. Our kids were more into playing in the sand rather than swimming anyway. The pools were incredible! There is a huge pool with a really cool waterfall and some side pools, as well as a completely separate grotto pool that is GREAT for kids to swim in. That same pool has pool side kid activities that are EXCELLENT for keeping little ones busy! Great teen hotel staffers help the children with the acitvities and crafts and they do a great job. Approximately 4-5 activities per day are available if you want to take advantage of them.
We found that the BBQ restaurant on site is EXCELLENT! Their burgers are mouthwatering, no joke! We also ate off site at the Crab Trap (excellent!) and Floyd's Shrimp Shack (just ok food, but awesome atmosphere and view). Honestly, the Garden Inn restaurant inside the hotel is not worth the money. We tried dinner there one night (ust ok, nothing to rave about) and the breakfast buffet one morning (awful). We packed some breakfast food and lunch food with us to save money since our hotel room had a microwave and mini fridge (which came in VERY handy). I would also recommend the banana daquari that you can get at the swim up bar and at the bar going out to the beach.
We loved this resort and are already making plans to go back next summer! Please do not base your opinion of this place by people who are bashing it on this review site. You get what you pay for, and if you pay the lowest rate for a cheaper room, then you aren't going to have as great of an experience. We all know this.

"The staff was amazingly helpful. I was reading a book in the hot tub and one of the second shift workers pushed the button to activate the bubbles twice so I didn't have to get out. The housekeepers were so pleasant offering extra towels everyday. The room was clean. Beds are small but very comfortable and we were hardly ever in the room on them anyway! So much to do being right next door to Howl at the Moon. Wonderful swim up bar, with the best drinks we had! For example the bloody mary had celery, olives, a green bean and a lime!"

"Overall the trip was a bust because we stayed in this dump!! It was our anniversary and I wanted to take my wife somewhere we could enjoy the beach and our hotel and ammenities....this is not the place. Upon check-in we were given a room overlooking a parking lot and main road when we paid for the garden and pool view...when we complained we were told they were booked and had no other rooms. We left to eat and to see if we could find another room...but decided we booked it three months in advance for a reason....we returned and asked for a manager who offered us a beach front room....for 200$ more!!! We were almost ready to leave and I asked a third person what they had available....he told me they had the exact room we asked for (except no king size bed) available!! I was furious but took the room as we had wasted our first day there just trying to get into a room!!!!
The staff was somewhat helpful even though most could not speak English and the guy at the front desk was the only really helpful person we met. Thanks!! The place is just outdated and in disrepair in a lot of areas. The air conditioner was noisy like it was going to blow up!! The door locked us out three times until the maintenence man finally fixed it!! This was just not a good experience!! Lastly, if you pay for a resort type setting....you shouldn't have to pay $30 a day for an umbrella and chairs on the beach!!!
My advice....spend a little more money and stay somewhere else!!! The Ramada will remind you of a budget inn with exterior doors and decor from the 80's!!!!!"

"The room was a little outdated, but clean. The staff that we came in contact with was very friendly and extremely helpful. We arrived 2:30 (check in is at 3pm) and our room was not ready. Instead of making us wait, she gave us another room that was already ready, and she got us as close to the beach as she could. My two young ones (5 and 2) loved the splash pad! The beach access was awesome! We did not rent chairs and umbrellas (I feel they should be free), but finding a free spot on the beach to put down our things was not at all hard. The restaurants on site, room service, and beach access meant we did not have to leave the grounds, unless we wanted to. This is a very family friendly resort, and we will be going back next year! I would definitely recommend, and actually already have recommended to 3 friends."

"Overall it was a nice Stay. Beach access was wonderful. Tiki bar near beach was a plus! Chairs and umbrella are pricey although they appear to be a part of hotel's property. Hotel breakfast is nice and room was nice. Maid service could have been better. Only complaint would be the focal point on the property would be the waterfall pool with the swim up bar! That pool was not used by anyone because it was not heated so it was abandoned and the swim up bar was never opened. Weather was nice out and warm enough to swim in the ocean?! The garden was well maintained and absolutely beautiful. The hotel is next door to the Ft. Walton Beach Pier and an entertainment complex containing shopping; restaurants and nightlife. "This weekend apparently was Spring Break for colleges. Security was called several times but the doors continued to slam throughout the night. We had to share a single wash cloth between 5 people in our group due to the staff not leaving clean towels and wash cloths. The walls are so thin you can hear your neighbor using the bathroom. The noise from the courtyard overpowered the sound of the ocean waves, and the lights on the balcony and courtyard stay on very late. Made it very difficult to enjoy a beachfront/view room. The cleaning staff only made beds and didnt wipe counters or sweep floors."

"The staff is very helpful. Room was ok, but could have been cleaner upon arrival. Microwave and fridge were small and a little old. Beachfront room had a beautiful view! But walls were thin and depending on who's staying next to you, hallway noises can be a negative. A lot of early morning wake ups thanks to the filter with babies/toddlers a few doors down. The main pool was beyond freezing, so we spent most of our time on the ocean. Beach was nice, water was clear! Pool should be heated for the guests. Overall, a nice visit for an older hotel."

"This is a great place to stay. Very beautiful beaches with white sand. The staff was friendly and reliable. We will definitely plan on staying there again and visiting the Fort Walton/Destin area again. One important note... if you stay at this resort, request a beachfront or a pool view room in the taller building. It was well worth the extra money as I ended up upgrading to one of these rooms. These rooms come with a balcony that overlooks either the ocean or the pool. It was nice to sit out there in the morning and the evenings with my coffee!"

"There are a few issues with this resort: 1) Beachfront is misleading. There is a courtyard between the hotel and the beach. If you pay for a beachfront room you will not be able to just walk out and be on the sand. If you are on the 1st floor, you cannot even see the water or the sand. You have to ask for floor 2 or above. We thought we would be able to be on the deck or patio and let the kids play in the sand, but the sand/beach was not within sight of the courtyard. 2) Parking is a nightmare. They give you a 'parking pass' to use their parking lot, but if you leave for dinner, the patrons of the THREE clubs next door will have filled the lot. Complaints to the front desk do no good. They suggest parking in the parking deck, which is on the opposite side of the resort. If you leave the resort for dinner, anticipate parking on the deck, and having to walk. 3) If you are in a parking lot wing, you WILL be able to hear the music and noise from the clubs. 4) Only the beachfront building has an elevator. The courtyard building and parking lot buildings do not. So you will have to carry everything up the stairs, so pack accordingly. 5) The giant pool with the rock waterfall does NOT allow children who are not potty trained, even if they are in a swim diaper. You will be asked to leave the pool and take the child to the kiddie pool (which is NOT close to this pool) or to the splash area (which is not close to this pool either). So if you have children who are allowed in the pool, and children who are not, you will have to split them up to swim. 6) The beachbar was nice, but ASK FOR ALCOHOL. They automatically make everything 'virgin' and you have to specifically request alcohol. We got burned paying 9$ per pina colada only to realize once we were back at our room that it was a virgin. This is NOT an issue at the Lounge Bar inside the resort. 7) There is a breakfast buffet for 10$ 12 years and older and 4$ under 12 years old. It has scrambled powdered eggs, bacon, grits, frozen french toast sticks, biscuits and gravy, corned beef hash, cereal, bagels. I suggest you look for a place called the Breakfast Place - it is much cheaper, not crowded, and the food is way, way better. We spent half the money there and got better food. It is a place the locals obviously go and I wish we had found it sooner rather than giving our $ to the hotel for the craptacular breakfast. It was a good vacation for the children, as most of the PITA aspects of this hotel did not really have an impact on them. We would probably stay here again, asking for a 2nd floor 'beachfront' room (so at least we can SEE the water), and making sure it was at a time when the clubs are not so popular."

"After reading several reviews, I was a person that loved our stay here! The staff were all phenomenal! They were really friendly, our cleaning lady and her supervisors were the best! As most reviews say this is an older hotel, however, it was clean, and met all of our needs! I have a one year old son, that had a blast, in the pools, splash park, and most of all the ocean. We experienced several of the amenities the hotel had to offer, and were satisfied with all of them! I recommend staying here, and we are planning a trip back here next spring. I did miss however, nightlight, this hotel, really does not have any, They have PLENTY of room, out back for a live band, OR SOMETHING, this would have been the icing on the cake, as I could have brought my son, to see it with me. Thanks Again staff for a wonderful stay."

We were the only ones checking in and he was so distracted doing something else, he basically handed us the key and told us how to get to our room. "I do not recommend taking children to this hotel. Check events before traveling!!!!! They all were very loud, obnoxious using profanity. Not good for children to be exposed to..... They also had they main pool closed the entire time we were there. We arrived the week of spring break so you would think they would have the main pool open. Right?"

"The ramada location and hotel was more then i anticipated. The room was kinda small for 4 ppl but we hardly stayed in it. It was clean though. The landscraping thru out was beautiful. The beach pretty much in your backyard was great. Didnt have to travel to or from to get to it like other hotels. The pools were awesome, from the heated pool to the pool w the grotto. Even my 2yr old had a pool for herself which she loved.Nothn luxorious for the $ but reasonably priced. The hotel food was the only downfall, could be alot better. Overall, great experience for my family and me."

"This was a great stay for my family of 4 and a beautiful location. This resort is right next to the Boardwalk and pier and it is just minutes away from the Harborwalk in Destin.
The room was clean and cozy. Yes it was a little small, but we were not in the room long enough to care about the size. The help was amazing. The cleaning ladies were nice, the breakfast was great and the lobby help was very professional. I dont have one negative thing to say about the resort, other than we didnt stay long enough.
The pool was a chilly, but that didnt bother my kids at all. The pool was very fun and clean. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. Thank you so much for giving us the best vacation yet!!!"

"Great location. The pool area was very nice. The room was good-clean, neat but decor/flooring outdated. Lovely grounds. My biggest complaint was the hotel restaurant. A few of the servers did not speak good English. They were a bit slow and unattentive. I had to at one point get up and get my own coffee refill and the restaurant was not crowded. The food was average...but thought the breakfast buffet was way overpriced at $9.95 with the limited selection of food they offered. I would definitely stay here again but most certainly NOT visit the onsite restaurant."

"The hotel was nice. The beach front room was great but deffinatly make sure to request 3rd floor or above in the tower or you will not have a view. The grotto pool looked like alot of fun but was TOO COLD to even get near. Also the kids ppool was too cold to swim in so the main heated pool was over crowded. Overall I enjoyed my stay and will return. Just not during spring break time due to the college party crowd."

"The grounds are beautiful. Beaches were clean. The room (beachfront) needed some updates and it was a little noisy (thin walls). Pool is fabulous. Very kid-friendly. Easily accessible restaurants."

"We enjoyed our stay for the most part. The location is great the only thing we didn't like was the size of the rooms. They are very small for a family of 4. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It was also kid friendly if they didn't want to go to the beach then they were able to have fun on the resort."
