After checking in, and then seeing the room, we left. Clearly this is a party hotel for a young crowd. Doesn't look anything like the pictures online. An outdated hotel, clearly in need of major renovations. We couldn't believe the price of the room compared to the quality of the hotel.

Your first reaction as you arrive to Lani Kai might be something like "What have I gotten myself into?" After checking in, you will be pleasantly surprised. Clean rooms, attentive staff, and an excellent location. Live music most nights, 3 restaurants and a great view of the gulf. Every room is beachview. If you're looking for a 5- star hotel, this isn't it, but if you're looking to have a good time with friends and meet nice people, this is great.

This review is really about the Sundeck bar atop the actual Lani Kai hotel. The bartenders working inside the Sundeck are great! Joe is your man to see there! He's fantastic! Genuinely cares about his customers, loves to chat with you a bit and is so polite and yet totally on top of his game as a server. This was our 2nd trip to FMB and last year we actually stayed at the Lani but unless you're on a tight budget or like to party like a 19 year old 24/7 - only come to the Lani for the Sundeck's v... Rooms are moldy, and noisy due to constant base booming music. The crowd that hangs here are fairly sketchy and I wouldn't recommend taking anything of value. I would recommend any other hotel/motel/resort on the island, not this one, especially if you have a family.

Don't even know how to start this.. Hands down the worst hotel experience my husband and I have ever had. After the first night of screamo music until 1AM on a Thursday, we literally packed our bags and went to a another hotel. The rooms were dirty, walls paper thin and the hotel did not feel safe at all. I'm one that almost never writes reviews, but want to make sure others don't make the same mistake we did. Don't stay here.

We are native to the Fort Myers area and went back to visit family. We'd stayed at the Lani Kai years ago, and this time booked 3 days with our children. This was the worst hotel/customer service experience EVER. It began with our room, which appeared lovely upon initial walk in, but it quickly became evident that their "renovations" from the past hurricanes they've had were merely cosmetic. Our sliding glass doors and front door didn't seal completely, so the room never cooled down (even set at... Read more

The Sun Deck Restaurant at Lani Kai is a great place to eat. The 6th floor view is amazing. You can eat outside & enjoy the ocean breeze or if it starts to rain the restaurant has an enclosed area. The food is delicious and you get a generous portion. Had the coconut shrimp & calamari for appetizers...Yummy!! The grouper meal / sandwich was awesome! Would absolutely go back again!!

Not the inside of restaurant ( or maybe ) but the outside deck part. We booked this family owned hotel last minute on Booking.com. If you are looking for a 5 star resort than this is not the place for you. If you enjoy hanging out and meeting new people then you should definitely stay here. When we arrived it was too early to check but Gerard ensured us that we would have a good time. All of the visitors seemed very relaxed and dressed casual in beach attire. There was sand on the floors but everything else was very clean. There are 5 bars and restaurants on site... Read more

Good resort. Fun activities during the day. They accommodated us nicely when we had an obnoxiously loud AC unit in our room. However you have to pay for your own chairs on beach even if you are staying at the resort. However if you are a pretty female then you were not asked to pay. If you are male then you will be asked to pay for the chair you want to rent.

My husband and I just stayed 5 nights at Lani Kai June 19-24,2016. When we first pulled up to register I was a little concerned from the looks of things. BUT, after getting to our room everything was great. The room was spacious, and well equipped. Our little frig wasn't working, called the desk, they immediately sent someone up with a brand new one. Located on the beach (white sand and about 100 degrees in the ocean) it's a great hangout just for chillin' out, grabbin' a Bud light and enjoying the live band (lots of 80's Hard Rock like Skid Row & Whitesnake). The Sun Deck is to recommend if you wanna enjoy your drink and have a great view of the 8 miles wide beach at the same time!

My cousins and I visited the Lani Kai for dinner one night and were very dissatisfied. We ordered oysters and meals and an hour later the oysters showed up in melted water. Salad ordered with dressing on side was smothered in dressing. Chicken parm was marginal, Greek salad with gyro meat good. Tomato clam soup good. We complained and waitress was defensive. View was great. Just go for drinks.

Chose this "resort" because it was my best friends birthday weekend and since we couldn't make it to Hawaii I searched and found the Lani Kai Island Resort in Ft Myers Beach. Someday, these folks will understand that first impressions truly are important. Right now, however, this place looks like a bad case of "kitsch" especially under the portecochere where you arrive. The nightclub downstairs had great live entertainment and during the afternoon, a live band would play out towards the beach. They had a variety of food available but we only had breakfast there and it was a great value.

Located right where all the fun is. Great bands, beach entertainment. We had an absolute blast here. From the time we arrived until we left we were treated like royalty! We wanted to stay right on the beach and this was the perfect spot. The bars and restaurants were top notch. We highly recommend!

The Sun Deck at Lani Kai was Awesome! I was by myself and the staff went above and beyond in every way to make my meal fun! The view is breathtaking and you sit in double covered rockers! You can eat inside and out on the 6th floor. I definitely recommend an exciting family meal here!

While other reviewers have noted that water pressure may not be best in the shower or the live music may be a little loud around midnight, let us be honest in reporting that not everyone will be happy with their visit here. This older facility has well used appearance, although rooms have been recently updated. The big draw is that every room has a wonderful ocean view balcony. Wonderful palm trees swaying in the breeze, striking sunsets, waves crashing on the beach a few steps from your privat... Read more

We chose this hotel based on location and that it is beachfront. Upon arrival the check in staff was quite rude. I asked for a room over to the left side of the building. Her response was that the computers were down so we were getting whatever they had already assigned us when they hand wrote everything out. I get it's frustrating to have the computers go down, but the check in staff is your first impression of the hotel. We get to the room which was clean and beach front. Had a musty smell, an... Awful appearance, worse restaurant meal ever and very loud, awful music until 1:30 AM. Sure, it's on the beach and the view is awesome. But we will never, ever put up with that place ever again. There are many other choices, all of them better.

1. This isn't even up to a Motel standard 2. Music glaring until 2AM 3. Electrical wires hanging outside on the 5th floor 4. No water pressure at all 5. No management on site 6. Staff disperses you 7. Should be completely knocked down and made into one big bar 8. Never again

Nice location. Right on the beach. Seems like a time warp. Would probably be good for springbreakers for a drug and drunkfest, but dont bring your family, unless you are a fan of Horrible Tattoos, intoxicated employee waitresses on the beach (I couldnt tell whether it was crack or meth). One of the waitresses stole my wifes water bottle. The jetski rental guy told us she picked it up, so we approached her and she denied it. I dont want to mention her name but (its the opposite of devil.) Our ini... Read more

Exterior of the building leaves a lot to be desired - however, the staffed seemed very friendly and the rooms were beautiful. The location was fabulous and the roof-top restaurant was very good. There was music on the beach that shut down around 5:00PM which was great. The problem started around 9:30 & 10:00PM. The bar had live music which STARTED at that time and went till at least 1:30AM. With quiet time starting at 5:00pm on the beach, we had assumed that would be it. After a long day o... Read more

We stayed here in Feb. '16. Saw the reviews about loud music from the bar but since we tend to party "late" e.g. midnightish (we aren't young, just enjoy having fun) thought that might be a good thing if things died down in the square we'd have options. Not at all...the music from the bar was SO LOUD AND THE BAR WAS SO LAME - and even though we were on a high floor it was impossible to sleep before 1.30 or 2.00. No idea why they kept the music loud so late, no one seemed to be enjoying it...ther... Read more

Upon booking a long weekend for my birthday present to myself, I stayed 10-28-10/31. When I called to verify my reservation (I used a 3rd party, so I like to always call to confirm before checking in) I was advised they had a large amount of college kids staying in about 1/2 of the hotel. I then asked to be on the top floor, and away from all of them. Upon checking in, we went to our room and it was right at the elevator & ice machine. At first I thought it would be ok, until about 10pm when cha... Read more

I was disappointed when I saw the outer appearance of the hotel. There were enough things that needed to be cleaned or updated that it made me wonder what I had gotten us in to. The lobby also leaves a little to be desired, again in much need of updating. The room was clean and had an awesome view of the beach. The staff couldn't have been more friendly. It was a last minute decision to stay overnight in the Ft Myers Beach area and when I made room reservations online I was promised a beachfront king bed room.. When we arrived the desk said they had one king room one floor above a very noisy bar which featured live music.. Don't get me wrong I love live music but this was going to going on until 2:00 am... This place is nothing like pictures and for our first trip to Fort Myers Beach very disappointing. Ohana's night club is at the bottom of this hotel and plays loud pounding music until way past 1am so forget trying to sleep until 2am. Definitely wouldn't recommend for families with young children!

Some friends who have never stayed here, but enjoy the beach bar, suggested we stay here for the week we were in Ft. Myers Beach. We enjoyed it very much for what it is: A privately owned beachfront 6 floor hotel with plenty of options for food, drink and shopping for necessary beach needs. Yes, the music plays loud and late, but the rooms are private and if you want a quiet place to sleep, go somewhere else. We have stayed in many beach and waterfront hotels, motels and houses over the last twe... Read more

The room we got had a great view of the beach and was very spacious, however the bathroom was small because there was an electrical room on the other side of the wall. Didn't eat in the restaurants but the happy hour shrimps were good. Both nights we were woken at 1:30 to 2:00 am by other guests coming back to their rooms.

The Lani Kai is probably not for everybody. The rooms are sufficient and have balconies overlooking the main reason for being there......the beach. There is musical entertainment daily and an assortment of guest participation games. Parking is a little iffy since they sell parking spaces to the public. The staff is very friendly and accommodating and their motto is, "Thanks for being here."

If you are going to party on the beach this is the place for you. Felt like Spring break. When we checked in to hotel fire alarms were going off for a good 10 minutes, there was no fire. Shower water never got warm. Ants in room. Had to call for iron which took 20 min to get. Very loud all night. Walls are super thin. Hotel next door looked a lot nicer. Did like that time square was so close.

This was an interesting place. We stayed in a room that was right by the elevators - the bell ringing went on all night and into the early morning. You can hear the bands down stairs too - so if you don't like party central stay elsewhere. The room was nice but the water pressure was really bad and so was the hairdryer. It could have just been our room. We enjoyed the bands the drinks and the food. The resort had many shops right in the building and a nice big pool. They had a great beach ... Read more

My cousin lives in Ft. Myers and every time we visit, we ask to come to Lani Kai! The atmosphere is fun. It can get a bit crazy around Spring Break times, but even still once you grab a spot on the beach it's relaxation all the way. We came for the beach and it's the best feature of this resort. Long and great for walking in sugar-soft white sand, swimmable and shallow with sandbars. That was most important for us and we got it!
