I called reservations because it was not possible to book adjoining rooms on the website. I booked one king adjoining 2 queens. When we arrived I was given only 1 room. Not Realizing it at the time, we went to find a king size room only. We had 4 boys with us. We went back to the desk and explained that we reserved an adjoining room but were told that although they did have adjoining rooms, they held those for extended stay customers. Hmmm. I was was guaranteed an adjoining room. They explained... Read more

We arrived after booking 6 rooms for 4 days. All we confirmed by front decks staff. After day two on the fire three rooms where lost. We booked on the way there and arriving , it was very appointing to room with other firefighters or find rooms at other hotels after a day of work. The paper work end of the stay was horrible. The staff was of no help. Avoid if possible

As Loyal HIE customers we booked this hotel for 1 quick night before heading to the keys the next morning. This building looks to have been recently acquired by HI because it was old, run down, and dirty looking. The bedding and furniture was typical HI but the rest of the environment was not great. The building is surrounded by an iron gate so I'm assuming it's not a great area either. Won't be back to this hotel but will continue to stay at other HIE

On the plus side we were staying only one night. The room stank of cleaning product and fragrance spray. My throat closed up and my eyes burned after about 5 minutes. The windows do not open - management is possibly afraid you'd rather fling yourself from the room rather than stay another moment. There is no way to get any air circulating into the room without leaving your door wide open and frankly the halls were pretty stinky too. Why do some hotels think that smelling like a bordello is a goo... Read more

This hotel has such great benefits. The location, being on the mainland is good, but its proximity to the Florida Keys is great. It has all the benefits without the high price of the Keys. We have stayed here on a few occasions and would stay again whenever the occasion arose. The rooms are clean and roomy. The breakfast is well done and tended to for the duration. Convenient to so much.

The room had heavy smell of cleaning products and other indistinguishable smells. The TV did not work. Metal exterior doors were depressing. Usually brand loyal to Holiday Inn Express when possible, but would not do this one again.

Stayed here on the way to Miami Airport after a trip to the keys. I did not want to face Miami traffic, so I stayed here. The staff was very cordial and helpful. The hotel was quiet and easy to get onto the turnpike.

We love to stay at Holiday Inn Express chain and this one is right at the "Gateway to the Keys" so the location is good. The staff are always accommodating - if you are unhappy with your room location, they will try to move you (if possible). As always the breakfast is good!

This was a good stop on our way out of the Keys. The room was quiet and clean. We only stayed one night and didn't have breakfast. The window had a shade which didn't open ... or close all the way. Try Joe's Famous Hot Dogs, just a block or so away.

We only spent one night here. It was a very enjoyable stay. Room was clean and the two young people at the check in desk were very friendly and helpful. Gave us some good options for dinner. We really enjoyed our stay and plan on staying there next trip. It's a great place to stay before going into the Keys or to Everglades National Park.

Stayed here a couple of times when we were down in the Keys with our motorcycles. Much less expensive than going further down during in season time. It's nice, clean and quiet. Not to mention we trust security there to keep an eye on our vehicles and our bikes. That's a BIG plus for us when staying anywhere!

Florida City is a last stop before the Keys so this is a good hotel if you have business in the upper Keys as it will save you $30 to $100 per night. It was undergoing a remodel, otherwise it likely would have been a 4. The construction crews were NOT considerate of guests. The room I stayed in was in very nice shape, the bed and linens were great, and the AC worked very well. The breakfast was good, the internet worked easily and overall my stay was nice\.

We stayed here for two nights on our drive back from Key West, a short stop before heading home to Vancouver via Miami airport. This hotel is in a very convenient location, right on the highway and only 9.2 miles (15 mins) to The Everglades National Park and 5.5 miles (11mins) to the Everglades Alligator Farm. There is a Starbucks across the street and an outlet mall (Florida Keys Outlets - such stores as Nike, Coach, Under Armour, etc) is kitty corner to the hotel. A great place to pick up s... Read more

Stayed here to go diving in Key Largo. Decent room, good breakfast and half the price of Key Largo hotels. Only downside is the traffic over to Key Largo. Helpful staff solved a problem we had when our dive got cancelled. Hallways are a bit skinny. Odd statement, I know, but they're the thinnest hallways I've ever seen. The plus side is that makes more space in your room though.

Never disappointed at a HIE. Clean property. Good pool. Clean rooms. Great breakfast! Always concerned about security when going somewhere new and felt secure and not concerned about vehicle in parking lot. Last hotel before the keys! Would also be a great location for the races at Homestead.

We stayed for one night before hitting the Everglades N.P. The hotel is pretty worn down and not in a good shape. Since we got a very cheap room this was ok for us. You would definitely expect more if you pay more. The location is very convenient right at the Highway 1 to Key West or Miami. Breakfast is included in the rate and was good. Despite the age of the building our room was clean and we had a good night. The staff was very friendly and helped us find a nice place for dinner.

This is a great location for anyone wanting to visit the Florida Keys without busting the wallet to do so. It is at the top of the Keys, only a short drive to Key Largo and is far less expensive. The accommodations are just as one should expect from a Holiday Inn Express. The breakfast was great, particularly when travelling with a family. The pool is nice, but requires ongoing maintenance throughout the day as there was garbage and insects that needed removal. There are also lots of amenitie... Read more

We dropped off our stuff in the earlier as we drove to Key West. We pretty much just crashed after coming in after 1100 p.m. We got up had breakfast and took off. When we got home my husband got a text that his Credit Card had suspicious activity, it had been used in Brazil at some restaurant. The only place he used that specific card was at the hotel. He immediately called the card company and told them no we had not been to Brazil. He contacted the hotel, they claimed the manager was not... Read more

Just a basic hotel to crash at before heading south to Key West, nothing special, the one staffer that we encountered was ok, she was nice, very quiet and seemed to be afraid of lizards, not a place to live and work if you are afraid of them. Room was ok, nothing special, just a place to crash

In all honesty the hotel room was clean but very weird. Dark interior in the rooms, paint job included painting over the outlet covers (sort of) in bright orange. Hallways were a creepy neon lime green. Lobby and elevator were dirty. The town itself is best driven by. Trash, abandoned shopping carts and homeless people lined the streets. People panhandling for money everywhere we stopped, bars on most home windows, ATM closed at 6pm. The town of Homestead is basically attached and in the same co... Read more

We checked out Sept.25,2016 and forgot my wedding ring. We were heading to Key West and noticed i didn't wear my rings.I was sure i left them at the hotel room because i was wearing the rings at breakfast in their dining hall and removed them to take a shower. We called back at the hotel and they had them checked while we were driving back to the hotel. When we got there, they said they didn't find my rings. So obvious that the person who checked the room was interested with my diamond rings and den...
