"We just returned from Hawks Cay Resort. It was a very nice resort, both accomodations, facilities and grounds. We had great weather which also helps! I woudl recommend this for any family. We had teenage kids which were older than most kids there but they found plenty to do with friends. The staff is good (not great), and food is good but like most resorts, expensive. Activities are a monopoly in the area so pring is high and fairly inflexible with no competition! Day trip to Key West easy and well worth it. I'd go back again unless you rea;;ly want a beach then I'd head to the caribbean!"

"The restaurants all had poor service. Went to Tio's and waited 20 minutes for first drink. Alma's waited 10-15 for waitress, stayed there because at that time it was 9pm. The food was fair but way over priced. $380 for dinner for four and two were children. Had 3 cocktails and 4 beers. Outdoor grill left before waited on after 15 minutes. Breakfast brunch the only one with good service.
Probably need more chairs poolside. Towels were perfect

"Had a good time at the resort. A little on the expensive side after you add up all the extra fees, but overall a good experience. There are a lot of activities on Duck Key, but some of the water activities are a little bit higher in price than doing them at Key West or Key Largo. A good vacation overall."

"When we checked in I asked if they had any free upgrades, staff smiled and said 'lets see'. He gave us a beautiful waterview room overlooking the pool and canal. It was perfect. One small draw back was it took forever to get our car from the valet even if you call in advance. We decided that they just wait til you get down to the lobby to go the car. They are about to open 2 new restaurants which are needed."

"We visited this hotel for the first time in March, 2012. The overall resort is beautiful, and had much to offer for everyone. The room was pricey, and not as large as I expected. One major drawback is the daily resort fee, and a $200 a night incidental fee. If not used, it is returned back to your card. That came as quite a surprise! Bring your plastic, and lots of sunscreen. Knowing what to expect, we would go back and visit."

"I was disappointed to find a large stain on the carpet as soon as you entered the room. the remote on the TV did not work well and we couldn't get the airconditioning to go below 70. Which was a problem as we both like it very cool when we sleep and kept waking up from overheating. We had an island view room that looked over a dumpster which wasn't very attractive. The pools were nice, but hot tub at main pool had no jet power, so just still hot water. The grounds were lovely and shuttle was always on time. Beautiful fires at night by poolside. The food was good and the staff were exceptionally pleasent. Every one was especially pleasent especially the valets. They even refused a tip for getting the car and bringing the bags to our room Over all, the resort was beautiful, very clean with exceptional staff. I've never stayed at a place where everyone one you met had a smile and pleasent word. They all went out of their way to make sure you were comfortable and had what ever you needed. We were disappointed in the room for the money we paid"

"Location is superb. The resort grounds are nice and landscaped as a tropical paradise. The room was nice with the exception of maintenance issues. The air conditioning units are wall units and sound like a dump truck starting and don't really quite down much. The faucets in the bathroom were broken and they did a make shift repair on it. This is not an inexpensive place to go to and although most things were up to par, these type of lapses in maintenance surely add negatives to the overall experience."

"I booked this hotel because it was so child friendly and that it was. Staff was friendly and helpful and the pools and dolphins were awesome. I did however feel stuck at the hotel with regards to food and drinks. They encourage you to charge everything to your room. The beach grill only takes room credits and everything is very expensive so this pressured us to leave the hotel for every meal, we ended up buying grocery snacks for our room. Also the daily housekeeping service was not very efficient, when they cleaned the room they did not replenish cups for coffee and the tile floors were very sticky. I would recommend for people with kids purely for the pools and the dolphins but expect to drive and explore Marathon each day."

"My husband and I enjoyed Hawks Cay very much. It exceeded our expectations!

We especially enjoyed the two pools and the lagoon area directly behind the

main hotel where we stayed. The room we stayed in was very nice, beautifully furnished and decorated. The restaurants were very nice with good food and good service. It all contributed to a nice vacation in the Florida Keys!"

"The property was beautifully maintained and had some great activity offerings, including a sunset cruise (highly recommended if you do not get seasick). The room was comfortable but room cleanliness was not top notch, not to say it was dirty but it was not perfectly clean when we checked in.
Staff are wonderfully friendly.
Price for the room was a great deal. The food and drinks were reasonably priced considering, but do not expect that same value in the store at the marina.
If you plan on taking day trips to Key West or other islands, do your research to make sure major events will not complicate the trip.

"What a beautiful resort, but I was completely disappointed with staff effort to fix a mistake made by them. This trip was booked more than 6 weeks in advance for our family, as my husband and I were celebrating our 10th anniversary. I am well aware of costs and requirements to book things in advance, as our anniversary is, and always has been on New Year's Eve. When I called the resort four and a half weeks before arriving, the staff service person suggested that I didn't need to reserve for dinner, as there were several options for the evening, and we could decide when we arrived. I explained that it wasn't just New Year's for us, but our also our 10th, and she said we could 'explore our options' upon arrival. When we arrived, we discovered all of the dinner seatings were fully booked (although two of the restaurants were basically empty until 8 o'clock). We ended up eating burgers on the beach for our anniversary, and I felt completely unacknowleged and 100% disappointed as a guest. It was horrible. We chose this resort, hoping that a situation like this would not occur. On the 2nd of January, when trying to book a Dolphin swim for our daughter, a similar situation occured. Totally disappointing, however the Dolphin experience at the Marine Research Centre was fantastic, so it turned out in our favour. Although the resort is beautiful, we won't return. The food was mediocre, the prices did not match the quality of service, and for such a huge celebration, and a major mistake on their part, all I got was 'sorry'. They didn't try to compensate at all for one of their staff telling me I could choose a dinner reservation when we arrived. We'll laugh about this forever, but will not recommend this resort because of the lack of responsibility of staff to try to remedy a situation that they had created. A sarcastic thank you for making us feel so special:)"

"Visited Hawks Cay Resort with the family for fall break this year. Hawks Cay is an outstanding resort and from what I saw as we toured the keys is easily one of the most classy and luxurious places to vacation.
From arrival through checkout the staff were all super friendly, helpful and always near when needed. The resort grounds were spotless and constantly tended to. The facilities are great and having both the lagoon and pools to swim in is a great option. We spent quite a bit of time at the kids club too. Heres a tip: If you find the hotel pool too crowded or loud, there is a pool tucked away behind the kids club that gets very little traffic. It too is heated and good sized. There are food options some of which are reasonably priced, but the frugal and adventurous will want to take the short drive to explore the various local fare that is not only fairly priced, but very tasty!
It was a great location and for a fair price. The resort is outstanding and I don't see how we could have had a better time anywhere else in the keys.

"amazing place!! We had a terrible flight on American Airlines and ended up driving down from Miami with no baggage. Got to the resort in the early morning hours and they greated us, had everything ready for us, gave us necessaties and helped in every way. the resort is incredible from the staff who are impecible, to the dolphin experience, to the pools and salt water lagoon. I started everyday at the spa where the staff is fabulous. I am sooo ready to get back there and want to saty much longer."

"Hawks Cay is a Must stay place if traveling to the keys. Just went for labor day weekend and could not have had a better time. The grounds are just what you think of when you think of a First Class Tropical resort. The staff is very friendly and the rooms are first class. Two thumbs up"
