SETTING
Ariel Dunes is the gem of Seascape Resort and has defined the landscape of not only the resort, but the South Walton, Destin Area. Known as the tallest Destin condominium, Ariel Dunes has 24 stories, and on a clear day offers views from downtown Destin all the way to Panama City! The first night was kinda rough being that when we came in from the beach to take showers, the water smelled like sewage and smelled up the whole Condo for about 2 hours. The restaurant down stairs wasnt all that great, the food was nasty.. other than that the beach was a beautiful place to be."

"We rented a room at Ariel Dunes. All was OK with only a couple complaints. Biggest issue is that our room was right over the bar. Each night the bar had a band that played late at night and it sounded like it was actually in the master bedroom. The other rooms could not hear the noise but the noise was awful while laying in bed in the master bedroom. The company should have notified us of this issue as we would probably have selected another 3 BR apartment.
The other complaint is the fold out couch. It needs replacing as it feels like you are sitting directly on the springs or the metal frame.

"While looking online for a room (just one night away) in Destin, FL for two couples we spotted Ariel Dunes and thought wow, what a great price! For a two bedroom two bath with kitchen we booked it for $109/night! The group in front of us at check in was so large they had booked TWO two bedroom condos for their vacation. They were unaware of the cleaning fee they had to pay before check-in $125 tax a pop per room! So as we proceed to check-in, we get the same spill! Needless to say we had the same problem, unaware of the cleaning fee until I read my CONFIRMATION email. The hotel said we could dispute it, so I immediately went back to see if it was clearly stated on the page where I booked our room. Sure enough it WAS NOT. But once you scroll towards the bottom there is a link for terms and conditions and then terms and conidtions for Ariel Dunes. First sentence in the terms '$125.00 tax for cleaning fee'. So, we were stuck. Cancellation fee was pretty much our one night stay worth so we had no choice but to pay it. Not only were we disappointed we had to pay $125 tax for a cleaning fee for one night, we were also disapointed they ask the age of every person in the party and they stuck two married couples in a condo that had one king size bed and two twins. We went back to the desk and they corrected it, but it appeared to be an inconvience. Overall the grounds were beautiful ~ but I did not have 100% satisfaction by any means."

"PROS: the distance from the beach, beach view and balcony, multiple pools and adjacent restaurant. Bathroom and bedding linen were clean.
CON: The couch was filthy and the guest service replied that we should cover with a sheet. None of my three guest felt comfortable enough using the sleeper couch. There was a putrid smell coming form the garbage disposal. We had to air the whole condo out. These things should have been taken care of prior to our arrival. The mattresses on the bunk beds were uncomfortable"

"Everything was great except that the refrigerator didn't work. In all fairness, I didn't realize it was the fridge and not the kids fault for going in and out of it til Sunday, which was too late to do anything about it except relocate us. I'd rather have to buy ice than pack up and move six people!
Other than that, this was a great value and a nice beach get-a-way. Will definitely try to stay there again!!

"when I arrived at Ariel Dunes Thursday July 26th there was no one there to check us in. I dialed the number taped to the door and the customer service rep acted as if she had no record of my reservation. She then directed me to call Resort quest. Of course they had no reservation for me because I didn't call them. I call the number taped to the door on Ariel Dunes AGAIN. This time I was given all the codes to the doors and my unit. when I enter my unit and get ready for bed the sofa sleeper didn't work. This meant my guest had no where to sleep Thursday night. When I woke up Friday to check in, I tried to pay cash for the cleaning fee and was told to use the credit card! When I officially checked in, I left the room to enjoy the beach. When I came back my door code was changed and I had to inconveniently go to the lobby AGAIN...to get another one. We were finally given an air mattress for the night. We were awakened the next morning way too early by maintenance, with a sofa sleeper. We were still sleepy and didn't want to be disturbed that early. Customer service, quality could've been a lot better!"

"Furniture & carpet was worn & stained. Room smelled bad. Walls of condo were dirty and needed to be painted. Hot wated heater was leaking and there was mold on the walls. "This is ourfirst time staying at the ariel dunes.our room view was great.The comforters on the bed were filthy.The room needs a few repairs and cleaning.One thing housekeeping open the room two times rushing us to leave the roon so they can come and clean not nice they told us that the front office told them to clean that room check out time is 12:00 they came 09:00 am no respect.We will come back only if make changes because you are paying a high prize so you can get a good quality. "This is our second stay a the Seascape Resort. Our room was 1405 and the view was GREAT. The only problems that I have was that the comforters on the bed and shams were filthy. I had to personally wash the shams and I put the comforter out on the patio. The carpet was dirty and I would recommend that the whole unit take the carpet up and put tile, since it is so close to the beach. Other than that, the unit had everything we needed and can't wait until our next visit."

"The hotel is a nice hotel but the carpets were dirty, we also thought that we had a different type of room than what we ended up with and when I went downstairs to speak to the staff they were very rude and pretty much told us we were out of luck. Luckily I brought a blow up matteress with us and made it work. The cost is high enough and to travel with a family and pay that much and to be treated rude was uncalled for."

"My issue with Ariel Dunes is that I request a 2 bedroom condo and what i got was a 2 bedroom with a trundle bed in the second room. This place was tinyThe bottom bed didn't have any sheets. There was a pull out sofa and they provided sheets for that but no blanket. This place is expensive and little things like what I stated above shouldn't happen at places that cost close to $300 after taxes and cleaning fees.

"We just returned home after a week's stay at Ariel Dunes II. The place was amazing. Very clean, except for the carpet, but it's understandable what with all the sand that gets tracked in from the beach. We were in unit #1305. It was nicely decorated and the view to the ocean was amazing. We had everything that we needed, from towels to soap to dishes. The walk to the beach was just 10 minutes and good exercise for our 11 year old and 6 year old. We walked there every day and played on the beach for hours. The pools were very nice, however, they closed way too early. We love to swim at night and often didn't return from dinner until the time that the pools were just closing. Would love to see it stay open til midnight or so. We loved reading the book that was in the room for everyone to sign that stayed in that unit. We added our own story to it. Overall, our experience there was great and we would stay again. "

"The hotel had some nice amenities such as pool and fitness room. The room itself was very nice. However, the carpets were filthy. They were old, dirty, and stained. They looked like they hadn't been cleaned in years. The walls were also dirty and in bad need of a paint job. When I looked online they advertized so many feet of beach front. That may be true that they have beach access, however it is a walk to the beach (which we didn't mind) but this is by no means right on the water. I felt the advertising to be somewhat misleading. I also did NOT like the 'surprise' $110.50 housekeeping fee! I felt the room was overcharged and not enough value for the money."

"The condo itself was really nice and clean. They may want to think about replacing the carpet - it was a little gross. When we booked the condo, it said 'free tram to the beach'. We never saw anything that was helpful with this at all. We were so far from the beach. For parents with 2 children under 2 - this made life very difficult. My husband actually got the flu when we were there and after asking the front desk basic questions about where to find local doctors, where we can dispose of trash (dirty diapers), etc. They tried to answer, they were just not that knowledgeable. So while dealing with a toddler, a baby and a sick husband, I had the additional inconvenience of trying to find more trash bags (they only give you one for your condo), more towels (we only had 2), where to dispose of trash, where to find a quick meal on property, where the mysterious 'tram' was, paper thin walls where the Europeans next to us were blaring techno and slamming doors til 3 am ... it was a bit of a hassle. Simple touches, like provided dish soap or hand soap in the kitchen, or a channel guide were greatly missed. The front desk did ask our neighbors to quiet down, which was greatly appreciated. The pools are nice for little ones because of the gradual slope into the pool, instead of just steps and a 3 ft. drop. My little ones were able to crawl around in 1ft water and had a lot of fun in the pool."

"I've visited this particular location with family and friends on several occasions and my experience has always been pleasant. Unfortunately, on this stay things were different. Upon entering the room I noticed the dirty carpet which definitely was an indication of what was to be expected. Unpon further inspection there were clothes in the dressers, a broken closet door which was a huge problem as well. I was told there were no other units available in the size I reserved therefore I couldn't change. After this experience I dont think we will be returning to this location again."

We loved our view & used the beach umbrella & chairs everyday (a nice little added bonus). The restaurant downstairs had really good pizza (& very reasonably priced). The only bad aspect were the people at the check-in desk. They were not very nice or helpful. The one girl was more worried about cutting her hair (yes, she was literally cutting her hair while I was talking to her!) than listening to us! Other than that, I was pleased with our stay."

"We loved our stay. We were very comfortable and felt like the condo was a home away from home. Our condo was very clean and had all the utensils we needed to cook for ourselves. Our view from the 22nd floor was amazing and our 3 year old son loved having the heated pool since the waves in the ocean were pretty big a few of the days we stayed. The walk to the beach was very easy to make and the beach was not very crowded. The Cabana Cafe has fantastic food and a great staff. "Loved the Resort community and the Beach was amazing. Our 2BR condo was well equipped and comfortable. We ate in the Cabana Cafe a couple of times- our first visit was nice, but the service was horribly slow the second time and the food (i had the same thing as my first visit) wasn't very good. We also ordered a pizza from there and the people were rather rude when we waited almost an hour to finally get it. Overall, we will Definitely go back...note to self- next time, get a room higher than the second floor as the pool -goers are Extremely loud and quite often their language is Extremely foul"

"We were very pleased with our room and the resort. The room size was great- a few pans and utensils would have been helpful, but we adjusted. Short walk to the beach, walking distance to several stores and restaurants, heated pool was awesome for the little kids especially on the rainy days. We were pretty self-sufficient and never needed to contact the desk for anything so not sure how that response was. Only hiccup was the wristbands for the pool. Kind of a pain in the butt and then when we checked out we heard for the 1st time that the wristbands had to be returned or they were $15 each. Finally found them, but what a hassle! Overall we felt great about what we got for what we paid- white sand beach is incredible."

"Condo was filthy when we arrived. Food was on the stove top and the refrigerator. The floor was sticky and needed to be mopped. The vacuum was not operating at all so even though there were lines on the carpet nothing had actually been picked up. My wife and I had checked in late so we went and bought cleaning products and cleaned the condo ourselves. The carpet was so badly stained that we didn't want to walk barefoot. I would not come back to aerial dunes."

"We had a great stay, however the condo is not like the pictures. Everything was white and plain with tacky sofa and love seat. The master bedroom was nice however the second room was really cheaply decorated. The bathrooms where clean, however one of the doors was broken prior. The condo was clean, however we were placed near an elevator and you heard people coming and going in the room nearest to the front. Great location to the beach, and some staff was friendly but that didn't matter much with us since we rarely called them for help. We love Destin and go every year, but this wouldn't be my first choice when I come back to Destin."

"This is a great place to escape a week off from work! I have stayed at Ariel Dunes when the buildings first opened and the resort still maintains a great vacation environment. I was a little let down though on the check-in process during this last visit. Everyone was friendly, but not much effort was placed in explaining basic points about our stay. For example the red wrist bands were exclusively for the II building pool and it was embarassing when we were asked to leave the I pool because the bands were not green. Little details like this were missed during check-in...don't overlook the small details of check-in vs. handing guests a packet and saying 'have a nice stay'. However, overall Seascape is a fantastic place to visit!"

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We had a three bedroom, 3 bath condo and it was fabulous. The living area was hugh. It had two full couches, and an easy chair. The couches made into beds if needed (which it wasn't because the master bedroom had a king size bed, one bedroom had twin beds and the third had a regular bed. The place was clean and everything was provided as stated, the pots, pans, dishes, coffee pot, silver ware, everything. Bath soap, sheets, towel, just everything. There were TVs (flat screen and VCRs in every bedroom and the living area. We were in Destin last year and paid 3 times as much for a 3 bedroom, 2 bath condo that was not as roomy. Will definitely go back again. As for the cleaning fee, all condos have it."

"We were very dissapointed in our condo. We stayed in a 2 bedroom in condo #504 and as soon as we walked in we were disgusted. It had an odor and your greeted with dirty stained carpet. "The condo was wonderful and had a beautiful view. Liked the idea of having a key pad to open your door instead of an actual key to keep up with. We had four in our party and everyone could go as they pleased w/o sharing keys. Service was nice. "We stayed a full week and it was awesome! Close enough to walk to the beach, although we drove most every time. The view from the 20th floor of tower two was amazing, especially at sunset.... "Condo did not come with everything i would expect as a fly in guest. No bar soap, no dish soap, no hair dryer, no shampoo/conditioner, no pool towels only 2 rolls of toilet paper. The 'front dest' was less than helpful, felt as if i was bothering them when i asked for these items. also appears that there was a lack of communication. I called the desk and asked for a late check out. they agreed. at 15 minutes past the original check out time, they were calling my cell phone wondering why i hadn't turned in my pool passes. the 2 people sit right next to each other, seems like a lack of communciation. Overall condition of building is tired and run down."
