"Great hotel for the cost of a night's stay. Hotel staff's service was superb and they were very gracious. This hotel is an older hotel so expect ocean wear and tear. The room was clean and well kept. Ocean view on the 2nd floor was beautiful. The pool area is kept clean and neat and access to the beach is easy. The Tiki Hut is a nice touch to the pool area. That restaurant was being remodeled and lunch was not served at the Tiki Hut that day but, we were within walking distance of a variety of restaurants and attractions. Will go back again."

"Broken glass in floor, coffee pot shorted out microwave, heater broke twice, tv would not work, electric power went out for several hours, large gaps around room doors, door knobs rusted, electrical plugs worn out and would not hold cell phone charger, beds felt like boards, bedspreads were stain covered, towels felt like burlap and smelled sour when they got damp. The parking deck is being held up by jacks and dead ends due to these jacks in the way. The banisters are crumbling apart and were covered with aluminum sheets held down with Ty wraps. The view was great but overall on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the best, I rate La Playa at a 1. It rained and the place kept us dry. I was disgusted with the hotel and it doesn't qualify as a resort in my opinion."

"It was horrible! I've stayed in Daytona for 35 years and this was the worst. On the spur of the moment we planned to arrive a day early. The place we also stay at didn't have anything for Friday. "We have been coming to LaPlay for many years. We spend a great deal of our time on the balcony looking at the ocean. We remember the fun time in the outdoors hot tubs and the indoor pool, hot tub and weight room. For a long time we have been disappointed that these things were not working anymore. This time the outside hot tubs were working!! We hope all the amenities are repaired soon. I was concerned when they gave us a room on the ground floor this time, eventhough it was an upgrade to a suite I was very concerned. The room was great! One of the cleanest I have had and the outside was great too. we were in front of the gazebo and spent our time looking at the ocean sitting in this great space that is not used much. I did have a slight problem because it seems all the dogs visit the green space next to the gazebo so if you have small children it may look nice but dont let them play there. Thanks we will be back to visit soon."

"When I went to check in at the hotel there was no records of my reservations. I showed the receptionist at the hotel my confirmation of reservation and she called to confirm my reservations. I wanted with my family for an hour to get a fax so we could get our room. This fax was not received! The hotel did give us our room. 3. While our stay in the hotel I was afraid to leave any food out or in cupboards because of the crawling bugs! I tried not to think about this when occupying our room. I had told the receptionist and they offered another room at 10:30PM or to have it sprayed in the morning. I requested for it to be sprayed. No one showed up to spray the room. I had told the receptionist when we left and she just said ok, sorry. 4. I was looking at my bank account and the hotel is now overcharging me for my stay and charged me twice. 5. In all of this I had had no one try to make up for what my family and I had to go through."

"I just spent the weekend at La Playa with my 2 granddaughters, age 15 and 11. We have the best time. The room was large and very clean and I especially enjoyed the separate kitchen. The view was wonderful, the pool was fantastic and the staff was very helpful and courteous. I will definitely return to this hotel in the future. "

"Took my 3 year old grandson there for two nights midweek. I found the room to be clean but poorly maintained. Large gap under the door where I stuffed the towels in to keep the creepy crawlers from getting in. Didn't see any bugs. The carpet in the room was very disgusting and needs replacing. The kiddie pool was pretty dirty and wasn't real comfortable with my grandson playing in there and immediately bathed him afterwards. The main pool was clean. For the price I paid for the room I suppose I wasn't surprised with what I got. I'd stayed there in the past and it's really gone downhill in the last few years. I still get unnerved paying for parking at a hotel when I've already paid for the room. I would return for the price unless I could find it elsewhere."

"I just stayed at this 'resort' over Labor Day weekend--Friday to Monday. I was ready to leave by Saturday afternoon, but I didn't want to lose any money. The room was humid, the carpet had cigarette burns in the bathroom sink area, the carpet was wrinkled and filthy, the door to the adjoining room barely locked (and NO, I didn't know who was in the room next door), there was no remote to the TV, the towels were stained and coming unraveled, there were several bugs in the room, and the bedding was old and uncomfortable. The parking garage downstairs is tiny and hard to get into and out of from A1A if you need to 'loop.' The 2nd level parking deck is chipped and looks unsafe. The outside of the building needs a good powerwashing and paint job. The chairs around the deck tables were all beginning to rip. Nobody is around the pool to ensure that kids aren't running and splashing others and their parents are oblivious. The only 'fun' thing about this place was the music from the DJs on the deck, but even that got old after 3 days. Don't waste your $ here. The pictures are clearly doctored or were taken a long time ago."

"The pictures you provided for this hotel did not do it justice at all.none of the hot tubs worked and the inside pool is not even open.there is trickling water every where because of the air condition units.and with all that we had to switch rooms three times.the first time was because of roaches and the second was because of wet smelly carpet.if we got this reservation through the hotel we would had got are money back and left.not a good stay at the la playa hotel."

"This Hotel has not been maintained. The carpet was filthy, ceiling is brown with water stains. Once lights went on when the sun went down, the roaches came in through the large gap under the door.
Toilet did not flush, bath did not drain. Concrete railing on deck was crumbling and held together by wood bracing. Second floor parking could not be used as concrete beams were crumbling, held up by metal supports. All in all this property should be condemned."

"I booked 2 rooms for 3nights but we only stayed 2 nights. I was not happy with the condition of the property. The outside entry ways needed cleaning and repairs, no air conditioning in the resturant, the toilet seat in my room had many cracks which is unsanitary. In addition, there was signs of water damage in the ceiling. I was not satisfied so I found another hotel . However, the rooms were clean and I liked the layout.

"Will never stay there again, rooms are old and carpet is dirty. Doors don't seal good so was hard to keep the rooms cool. The staff was so busy at the front desk due to the reasonable price I am sure, was extremely busy and it took forever to get checked in. One of the elevators was down, none of the ice machine worked. On another note, the view of the ocean was great, the outdoor pool is nice, the tiki bar played good music but it was not loud enough. The hot tubs were not in usable order and the indoor pool was under construction. The Mayan is not an expensive hotel and would stay there again instead of the LaPlaya."

"Well booked this place last minute looked at pictures online, big mistake, place doesnt look anything like that now! Got down there to check in and they told me book it.com had overbooked rooms so we were forced to sleep in a cramped up room that was the nastiest place i have ever stayed in ever for the first night. The second night they gave us the room we paid for and it was a little cleaner but just worn out and out dated. The cleaning ladies need to be retrained in a bad way. The elevators are useless in this place, basically the whole place is just wore out and nasty and not worth the money they are asking even if it is on the beach!! "

"After many wonderful weekends spent at this hotel, it has finally happened. A weekend spent being frustrated from day one. Upon arrival we learned the hotel had been overbooked, people were being given keys to rooms that were already occupied, and parking was more of a hassle than usual. The bathtub in our room wasnt clean and we had to play with the drain to get the tub to empty after using bathing. Some of the ice machines were not working, which was the least of my worries. The biggest inconvenience was the elevators. One elevator was not working due to being 'overloaded' with passengers and it didnt seem as though the staff were making any attempts of getting it fixed seeing as how their hotel was completely booked for the weekend. This left one elevator at each end of the hotel working. It wasnt unusual to have to wait 15 minutes or more. However, there were some positive things going on with this hotel. Security has definately improved since our last visit a month ago. Calls came to the room prior to issuing keys to people who lost their key, at any given time a security staff person could be seen walking the grounds and checking. There was one housekeeping lady who was so nice when informed that our room had not been cleaned that day. She offered to come right then and make the beds and do whatever else we needed. We said that wasnt necessary as long as we received fresh towels which she promptly brought to the room. Kudos goes to these people for a job well done. The rest of the staff needs to tighten up on their responsibilities before this hotel becomes a place people will dread going to.

"This is the second time we have stayed here and never again. You pay $5.00 to park a day on top of overpriced room and then you don't even get to park in the garage. The refrigerator had to be replaced. The floors were dirty, the balcony was very sandy, and we had roaches in the kitchen. The tub did not drain properly and the bathroom floor was dirty. Also, we had a kitchen but had to go out and buy my own pan to cook toast or whatever I wanted to cook in the oven. Very disappointed in the cleanliness of everything. Also, the jacuzzi was not working, my son wanted to play shuffle board and the sticks were broken and only had one of the main elevators working. We were there a week and never saw anyone working on it. Was told by staff it had been broken for at least two weeks. We will NEVER stay here again. If they don't spruce it up it will close unless they lower their prices!"

"Horrible.The door looked kicked in andlooked like there was duck tape on the lock. The carpets were so dirty. The walls had stuff on them and the bathroom smelled and had bugs. "This was one of the worst rooms i have ever stayed in. The door had been kicked in and would not lock properly.The carpet was very nasty. The sheets had stains on them.The beds and pillows were TERRIBLEI !!!!! I would never stay there again."

"Our stay at the LaPlaya Resort was fantastic. We were given a room and the air conditioner leaked water and the carpet was wet. I talked to the front desk about it and they immediately sent someone from maintenance to take care of it. I ask for another room as maintenance had to get the water up and put a fan in the room to dry the carpet. Without any hesitation, they put us in another room and even gave us free tickets to the comedy club performance that is held every Friday & Saturday night. The view was awesome, the staff were very polite, even gave us an extra hour to check out since we arrived so late to check in. The pool is great, they even have a Tiki Bar that is near the pool that played old time rock n roll music. There are plenty of lounge chairs around the big pool and the kiddie pool so there was no problem finding one to lay in the sun. I would recommend it to anyone. It is nothing fancy, it is an older hotel, but we had a kitchenette with a fridge, stove, microwave and coffee pot in it. The bathroom even had a hair drier. The rooms were very clean and I would definitely stay there again, for the price, you can't beat it."

"My husband, 2 kids, and I decided to spend a few days at Daytona Beach. We stayed at the La Playa Resort and really enjoyed our stay. Despite the bad reviews, we decided to give this place a shot. You could not beat the cost or the location. When we checked in, it literally took about 3 minutes. When we got up to our room, it was VERY clean and of course the VIEW was AMAZING!!!! It is literally right on the beach. The hotel staff was very friendly! Our room was cleaned daily and when I told the guy about our door not shutting on it's own he immediately called maintenance and it was fixed right away!! We would defiantly recommend this resort and plan on coming back very soon!!"

"Me and my friend had planned a trip to The Beach. We searched the internet for a nice hotel and found La Playa Resort in Daytona.
The room was perfect! Fantastic view directly of the beach. It had a nice kitchenette where we prepared our meals when not dining out. The service staff was very nice and forthcoming.
The pool was well maintained and clean although we preferred the beach.
The only draw back were some of the teens who were quite loud, but then again - they are young and don't know better yet...
We are coming back again!"

"The cosmetic of the room was not that impressive but if you are not in the room that often it was perfect. A small kitchen that was great for a family. I booked for an ocean view and all I could see was a piece of the ocean. I upgraded for only $20 more and it was right on the beach, The staff was very helpful. You also have the option to check out later for a small fee which was very helpful. The pool was very nice with a great view of the ocean. The indoor pull was less than impressive and the hot tubs were all out of order. Overall I was pleased with our stay and would stay again. For the money it was well worth it."

"When on arrival ready to check in they proceed to tell me that the 1 bedroom suite was over booked. They did give us 2 adjoining rooms. Felt we should of gotten parking free to make up for the inconvenience of our room. The staff was always very friendly and helpful. It is an older place and needs the decks replaced bet all in all had a great time."

"There were roaches and mice in the rooms. Only one ice machine worked in the whole place, Not enough parking, and half of the things in the room didn't work. Too exspensive for the conditions of everything here. WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN!!!!!!"

"Went here for spring break with my boyfriend and we had a great time. We booked an ocean view room with a kitchen-- there is a Publix supermarket across the street which was very convenient. The plaza also had a Subway, Walgreens, nail salon, and Rita's water ice. The hotel was about 2 miles from the main pier which we were able to walk to."

"The pictures posted on the internent of the hotel must have been quite old when the hotel was nice. The door to our room was broken, the elevator broke twice while we were there. The pool and kiddy pool were ice cold, literally ice cold. This is more of a college spring break hotel and it shows it. The hotel is run down, everywhere. Will not stay at the LaPlaya again."

"I searched the internet for a pet friendly hotel and found this one. The pictures on the internet looked nice, What a surprise. The day we arrived started to unpack only to find out the security lock on the door was broken, so they moved us to another room. It looked nice when we walked in, until, we got settled in and started to look around. Wet water stains on the ceiling from the air conditioner upstairs. Rust stains in the bathroom around the molding on the floor and also on the ceiling. Carpet needs to be replaced. The door going out to the balcony was very hard to open, and couldn't sit out there because you would get wet from the air conditioner upstairs dripping water.
Upon check-out we find we have been charged an extra amount for parking, but we were never told this when we booked it. Can't recommend this place to any one."

"First off I want to say the lobby and restaurant looked good. The pictures for the advertising were COMPLETELY DECEIVING. The room was filthy, the rugs need removing and replacing, and they were stained and filled with mold and sand. (or some type of grit) the boards on the veranda were rotted and painted to look new. The rooms smelled, the appliances were chipped and rusted. The stove they tried to put foil on the burners to make it look nice we (myself and my family) were offered several rooms to look at to see if we wanted to stay in another room. THEY WERE ALL THE SAME from 1st floor to 5th floor. This Hotel / Resort is rated BELOW 0. I wouldn't even take my pet there. The Pet Hotels (bed & breakfast for pets) is in better condition. I would like to know why the health department has not condemned this place yet. Whatever you do, RUN THE OTHER WAY %u2013 DON'T STAY THERE IT'S NOT WORTH IT."

"I am a single mom of a seven year old so safety was a concern. However, I felt very safe in the area, on the beach and around the hotel. Everything was great, the staff was wonderful.
Only thing I can think that would be negative is that the elevators are HOT...but you are at the beach, so no biggie.

"My daughters and I visit Daytona often during the summer months. The LaPlaya Resort was an oasis in the sun. We had a great time from the moment we checked in. Our room was overlooking the pooldeck and we also had a marvelous view of the ocean each morning. The staff was very friendly as were the DJ and Bartender at the Tiki Bar. There are drink specials daily and it can be charged to your room so there is no need to bring your wallet down to the pool. There was also a poolside grill going where hotdogs and hamburgers could be puchased. My daughters are 19-25 and they were able to have a great time as well as I could get some relaxation by the pool. The only thing about this hotel is the parking. Since there are several activities within this hotel parking can be very difficult at times, but the desk clerk and security was helpful when needed. we will DEFINITELY stay here again."

"We just came back from a 3 night stay at this hotel. With the discount we got from bookit this hotel was a real DEAL!!!! Great outdoor pool area and tiki bar, Nice clean rooms (ours had a kitchen too), Great free breakfast for 2. The indoor hot tub was not my favorite since it closed at 9. Wish their outside hot tub was working and the elevators weren't so slow. But traveling with 3 kids it was a great deal and something for everyone!!!!!"

"stayed at La playa from sat. 28th through 30th. nice location directly across from Walgreens,Publix and a few stores.Nice shopping location.We had room with full kitchen. Cabinets needed a little updating but everything else was nice. Had balcony with view of ocean. A/C Gave us a little issue. Might need to be updated soon. Once we got it going it was COLD !!! Lobby area and pool area all nice. Overall would stay again .. "
