I went there with a bit of anticipation and hesitation, having read previous reviews, which were mixed and leaning towards the negative. I‚??m quite receptive to eccentric and boutique hotels, and I usually expect that negative reviewers of such are the type who prefer the predictable consistency of chain hotels. Score one for them because the St. Michel left me ‚?? a seasoned and open-minded traveler ‚?? yearning for the Holiday Inn that I just dissed. The intent is there, but there are a lo... Read more

I was hoping to check into a quirky ‚??blast from the past‚?? boutique hotel in Coral Gables but my experience was not as I had hoped. Upon arrival I was surprised to find that the hotel St Michel no longer has a bar or restaurant although are featured on their web site. It appears that the hotel is in transition as ‚??reception‚?? is simply a lonely table in the front entrance where guests used to enter the bar and restaurant. The lift is non-operable by guests and needs to be operated by a s... Read more

Great place if you don't want extra amenities. Small, quiet and old feel. We loved it. I felt like i was in an old bedroom. Awesome homie feel. Close to all the action of Miracle Mile. I highly recommend. They are doing construction now to improve. We will be back.......

Staying here was like a step back in time. The building was built in the 1920's and feels like it is still in that era. They are renovating the lobby in a more modern style and it doesn't seem to fit the rest of the decor. The restaurant was not open. I'm not sure if that was due to the renovations.

Only spent one night but loved the Hotel St. Michel! The hotel is privately owned and filled with antiques purchased by the owners. All rooms are different, uniquely furnished and immaculate. The staff could not be more pleasant and helpful and they alerted me to a few quirky tricks that guests need to know - such as how to turn on the shower and how to pull on the lock when opening your room door! Yes, you actually have a real key, no credit card. Best of all, there is a manually run elevator w... Read more

We stayed there 3 nights the hotel is small it is a historic building so it may seem outdated. Beds were comfortable and rooms were clean. The tv was outdated but it played to the charm of the hotel. The free breakfast was very limited luckily it was free. Down side is having to pay for parking each night. Staff was nice

You have got to be kidding This place is rundown not maintained, advertises a restaurant and bar that do not exist. TV has a few local channels but difficult to figure out Rooms are sparse, and although antiquated, very poor condition Night clerk try's to help, but is limited to the crapy conditions DO NOT waste your money here,

I enjoyed my stay at the quaint and lovely St. Michel with an elevator that uses a live operator and antique style furniture in the room. Reasonably priced and conveniently located right behind Coral Gables center, with its beautiful old main boulevard, it is truly a gem. Free wifi and breakfast!!

Every time we return to the St. Michel we see continued improvements, upgrades, innovative and creative design techniques being used to preserve this historic property. It reminds us the small hotels we like to use when we travel in Europe. The rooms are very comfortable, furnished tastefully and high quality linens are provided. The staff especially Elizabeth and Evelyn could not be more helpful and make us feel "at home".. C. Gregory

Housekeeping did not close my door after making bed so belongings were at mercy of passers by Elevator needed operator to work but no one available to work it unless you asked at front desk and someone available to do so, so luggage had to be dragged up stairs to and from room No hot water until all faucets ran for 30 mins

So many of the big brand name hotels are replicas of each other and are often bland an boring. It's refreshing to stay at a hotel that has real character. The staff are always friendly and helpful. My wife and I often stay and we are always made to feel as if our home away from home. Ideally located for the easy walking access to the Gables.

I stayed here 2 times. It's quaint but this is an old hotel. This is not modern nor new. It's an old building. However, they try to maintain it up to par. It's in the middle of coral gables walking distance from everything in the city. Also not far from airport, beaches and a couple of minutes from coconut grove and Brickell. Place is clean. It looks historic and feels charming. Prices could be cheaper for the hotel.

I knew i was in trouble when I arrived. The evening shift was "multi-tasking". She was attentive enough and pleasant, however you can tell the second you walk in a hotel by the staff whether the hotel is committed to service or not. I chose this hotel because I am a fan of history and nostalgia. I had visions of sitting in the bar and conjuring up a Bogart/Hemingway atmosphere. This did not happen. I was sad to see that there was no bar environment as I had been lead to assume by photos o... Read more

It was turn of the century quaint. Comfortable room. Very easy walking distance to Coral Gable shops and dining. Quiet rooms. Manually operated elevator - old world charm. Nice front staff. Small sized room and clean.

The rooms are lovely, furnished with antiques, very comfortable mattress, staff is charming and helpful. I think they've just finished renovating the rooms - any complaints in older reviews about rooms being dirty or run-down are definitely out of date. The rooms are spotless. Also some complained about noise from the restaurant - alas there is no restaurant (but there are many many restaurants in walking distance). At the time of our stay the restaurant was being renovated and that did lend a s... Read more

When we arrived we noticed in the lobby that some renovations were taking place, but it did not have a negative impact. The woman at the reception area was nice, but she was multi-tasking between checking us in and her personal cell phone, reading and responding to text messages. We took the elevator up to the 3rd floor, which was pretty cool as it is old style requiring someone to operate it. The room was a bit of a disappointment, it was tiny and did not resemble the photos on their website... Read more
