"I am an avid house renter when vacationing with my children and this house was less than what was expected from past experience. While the home fit the bill for bedrooms and bathrooms, it was sub-par when it came to comfort and modern living.
We were supposed to have a 'welcome basket' when we arrived that included the staples for starting our stay but that was not there. The house was strictly non-smoking but the odor of old smoke came pouring out when we opened the front door and all our belongings smelled like smoke when we returned home.
We did not pay to have the pool heated, but would not have paid over $30 a day to have this luxury - this cost seemed to be WAY too high compared to past stays we have had at houses in the area with pools.
While we will be renting homes next time we are in the area, it is highly unlikely that we will use Starmark when looking for a place to stay."

"contact info said to contact them at least 7 days in advance of stay, we were leaving our house before 7 days ahead and needed info, we had to place several calls and wait for call backs and emails, anyways after initial confusion all was settled before we arrived. Everything was very nice, except pool furniture, which was dirty from being out in the weather. Stayed in house that was very nice. in nice neighborhood.

Our hours are from 8am till 6pm Monday-Friday and Saturday from 9am till 6pm. We also have a 24 hour call center that can assist you when we are not available and an on call personnel for emergencies. With regards to the pool furniture we do a complete inspection prior to arrival and checking pool furniture is part of our check in. Pool furniture is maintained and we do our best to keep it clean and free of stains however; the climates outside (weather and heat) play a role in maintaining outside pool furniture. We would like to ensure you that we do our best to keep it clean. We are glad to hear you enjoyed your stay with us and hope you visit us again in the future.

"My husband and I planned a family vacation for us and our 2 teenage sons as a family Christmas present. We decided on a vacation home as we find hotel accomodations with 2 boys, age 16 and 14, can become cramped very quickly. Our StarMark home exceeded all expectations in regards to providing us with space, privacy and a place to unwind after a long day at the Theme Parks. As has been mentioned, the pool was cold but the management did provide an explanation in the registration package about the possible problems with pool heating so this was not a surprise. The home was clean and much larger than we had expected. Overall, we could not have asked for a more.

My only concern with the property had to do with my attempts at confirming registration before we travelled and not receiving the information we were told would be sent by e-mail. My frustration was that I started trying to reach the registration desk over 1 week before we were to be travelling. I do not know if it was because this was during the Christmas holiday season but I was unable to speak to the right person until 4 days before we left home. When you call the number, there is an automated recording with a 'push 1 for.. Push 2 for.. etc prompt. I spoke with what I assume is a call center registration inquiry line on 3 different occasions and an after-hours person who stated she could not help me before finally confirming my registration with the right person. The person I spoke with was unable to answer the questions I had about check in and stated that the information I would need would be sent to me by e-mail within 2 days. I made repeated calls to Starmark for 2 days before we travelled trying to get the information I would need once my family and I arrived. I never received the e-mail and we arrived in Orlando not knowing where our vacation home was located and whether or not everything would be ready for us or not. We drove straight to the main office in Celebration Florida where I was told they were trying to reach us since December (I had no phone calls or e-mails from the company) and showed her my e-mail receipt of the $50.00 incidental coverage confirming the date that I had spoke with the company to confirm my registration. The positive is that the person who I spoke with was very apologetic and they provided us with the home information we needed and allowed us to check in early at no cost. Once I was connected to the WiFi at our home, I discovered an e-mail sent to me the same day as I was checking in. As I was travelling internationally, I did not have access to my e-mail and so the timing was too late to be of assistance. I know automated messaging is more cost effective but consumer relationship suffers when you can not speak with a live person.

In regards to the property, there were some minor things (no outside lighting by pool and a randomly beeping smoke detector for example) that were a bit annoying. I could have presistently called and tried to get this fixed but my one call resulted in the my receiving the same automated mesasges as when I was registering and I decided that it was not worth the frustation and waiting to reach a customer service representative. The minor issues did not effect my family's enjoyment of the property.

Helpful hints - Take soap and garbage bags from home or be prepared to buy these necessities. You will only have small hotel soaps provided and 3 garbage bags. The home is self-catering and only a minimal amount of household items are provided.

"The concept of staying in a house was great! No noisy hotel, area was very quiet(It was in a residential area). But that could have changed if the neighbors didnt like the idea of having so much traffic in and out. However, the property is in need of painting and updates.. Carpet was worn and dated. Paid to have to pool heated and the water was very cold. Since the weather was cool/cold at the time, could not use the pool when we came back in the evening time. I may try this house concept again, but I will ask for photos, google address and get alot more info."

"We chose to stay in a vacation home vs. a hotel mainly because we don't like the noise that comes with staying in a hotel and the crampness. We were leaving on our trip on a Friday and on Monday of that week I called to ask them to have the heat turned on for us for three days. The supervisor said we had the wrong house and were suppose to be in 733 not 334. No problem so they switched us and charged us for the three days of pool heat at $32 dollars a day. I honestly think it is ridicilous that they charge for pool heat. Originally we were staying in the house overnight for 5 nights and then we were going to stay in Pensacola for two nights because my son is in the Navy there. We all voted to stay in Orlando for two extra days while driving to Orlando from Pensacola because the weather was nice in warm in Orlando and chilly in Pensacola. When I called to see if we could have the house for those two extra days the supervisor sounded confused and said that the 733 house had people in it till Sunday (we were 4 hrs from Orlando in the car on Sat) and we couldn't have the house. She then said we could have the 334 house but it had no pool heat because it was broken and they ddn't know when it would be fixed. She also stated because it has been warm in the upper 80's that we wouldn't need the pool heat and that the water was warm. We decided to stay in the 334 house. If we chose to take the 733 house we would be in the 334 house Sat and move all our stuff over to the 733 house Sun. I didn't want to do that because we were going to be at the parks all day. Got to the house and it was beautiful!!!!!! Now, staying in the house for 7 nights were were only given one roll of toilet paper per bathroom. There were 5 of us. No extra garbage bags for the kitchen and no extra bathroom bags. We had to get that at the store. The pool was gorgeous, but to frickin cold for swimming which was very dissapointing because the evening we arrived we were so looking forward to taking a swim. The water was freezing so we were unable to use it. If you want to use the grill to grill out there is a extra charge for that too. One day while visiting a park the supervisor calls us wanting to verify we were staying till 1/2/12 and I said no that were were staying till 12/31/11. They were suppose to credit us the difference of no pool heat and put that towards the 2 extra nights which they didn't do so I had to call to straighten that out while in a park. They charged us the wrong amount also for those 2 extra nights. I would not recommend Starmark Homes. If it was the supervisor making all of these mistakes and misleading information I can only imagine the mistakes the staff make. That home should not have been rented out till the pool heater was fixed.
