The Williard is a pleasant surprise in the heart of DC. Beautiful, relaxing, and will all the proper amenities. Excellent soaking bathtubs. Although the rooms are small, they are well decorated, comfortable, clean, with luxury bath amenities. Nice on-site spa with massage therapy. Food is great in keeping with what one expects in Washington. Staff are capable and service oriented. Fantastic location, walking distance to the Mall. Good price for value received at this property. A beautiful hotel. Gorgeous lobby and beautiful, comfortable rooms. Request an upper floor with a view of Pennsylvania Avenue--it's well worth the extra expense. We even saw a presidential motorcade from our room. The staff is very helpful and accommodating. The Round Robin bar is filled with DC elite at all hours. Our only complaint was the unresponsive a/c in our room. Their maintenance man tried to adjust it but the temp only went down a few degrees. He said it was old. We defintiely would go... Read more

Stayed here one week attending opera. Close to all sights. Beautiful lobby, excellent attentive staff. Rooms comfortable , nothing exciting. Nice bathroom. Bar always so,packed it is hard to drop in. Breakfast room way too small. Had to wait to,be seated most mornings. Seems to be a place where businessmen meet for breakfast, causing hotel guests to have to wait. Rooms fairly reasonably priced for a historic hotel. Breakfast buffet overpriced,as we ate only one or two things & $32 seemed high... Read more

Stayed for three nights in this lovely heritage hotel with great sense of history. Had a particularly good meal in the Cafe du Parc which was bustling with a nice ambience. After a bit of faffing about changing rooms to what we ordered we were allocated a good size King room.... Hotel service was efficient which is good given we had a couple of tiny niggles which were resolved speedily.. The hotel is in an excellent location within easy walking distance of ... Read more

Generally, I try to write less of my opinions of a hotel/resort and more of those details that I search for in other reviews. That said, my opinion of the Willard is a very high one. For a nice, historic, comfortable hotel in a great location - the Willard lives up to its billing. First, if you can the Washington Monument view rooms afford a view that is very rare in DC. Second, the common areas of the hotel retain all their historic grandeur and are a step back in time to a more ele... Read more

This hotel is a real treasure. Saved from the wrecking ball some years back this has all the style and grandeur of European hotels. The hotel has a rich political history being very closely located to all the National Mall has to offer. We stayed for a wedding which was taking place in the hotel. The rooms are spacious and the beds are super comfortable. We would stay here again.

We stayed in the Presidential Suite for a short visit to DC. The hotel location is superb and the history as well as common spaces are simply beautiful, however, there are some aspects which do not make sense to me. When staying in a suite this size one would think that someone would show us around, it was not the case and we had to call the front desk a few times to get the information (none of which was available in the suite). I shouldn't have to remake the bed in the middle of the night because my feet are hanging out on the mattress. It wasn't comfortable! But the staff is wonderful, the history is amazing, and the restaurants are charming, if a bit overpriced. Have ... Read more

Well I feel thats the second closest hotel to the Obama's after the "W". Its a heritage property and quite a decent place to live in. Two blocks away from a Grocery store makes life easy and cheap. Two restaurants in the entry and a decent pub at W makes it comfy enough. House keeping is excellent and the staff are quite cooperative. Try and get a room with a view. Its a stop for Big Bus and others, you will also get a taxi readily.

The Willard is a 5 star hotel in a great location near the White House. The lobby takes your breath away when you walk in-it has been beautifully restored. Our room was spacious, and the beds were super comfortable. But it was the room that brought the hotel from 5 to 3 stars. When we opened the blinds, we discovered a dirty sock on the floor. (We immediately reported this to the front desk, who graciously comped us breakfast.). In addition, the drain in the tub didn't work properly so that... Read more

The Willard is a beautiful hotel in the middle of all the tourist destinations Washington D.C. has to offer. My husband and I stayed for 5 nights with our two young kids in June and had a nice time. The hotel cafe is in a great spot for people watching and the hotel itself is fun to explore. For such a prestigious hotel, the service could have been better. The Willard is one of those 'wow' hotels. The entrance off of Pennsylvania Avenue is fit for a president (and many have stayed here). The grand two story lobby has a quarry full of marble and check in is always a breeze. If you ask for a room with plenty of room, they will often give you one if it's available. I don't mean an upgrade, I just mean a big room...this hotel if full of them. I guess that's the benefit of staying in an older grand hotel. This hotel also has a great throwback bar ... Read more

The concierge even offered a "kids concierge tour" of the hotel and provided lots of history re: the hotel. The location is perfect for touring DC by foot. We came with a group to visit some of the visual arts...painting, sculpture, architecture in DC. This hotel is the perfect location for this as it is close to all the museums and a short drive to historic homes. The staff was very responsive, the food was excellent and the rooms were nicely appointed.

The Willard is a great, historic hotel in downtown DC. Super close to Regan National Airport and walking distance to all the great stuff in DC. The Cafe du Parc on-site restaurant was very good but overpriced. As with all hotels in DC, recommend getting your alcohol offsite rather than paying the ridiculous prices on-site.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Willard. The service and staff were courteous without being intrusive. The interiors are elegant and respectful of the history of the hotel. Breakfast was delicious and quiet. Beds very comfortable. The only minus is that you can miss a more modern bathroom with a separate shower stall but that's not too important. Location was ideal for the conference I was attending.

This property oozes class and history all through it. The bar down off to the right has interest of all the presidents which have had a drink in it as it is two blocks from the white house. Easy stroll to a number of restaurants. The rooms are comfortable and clean. I was there for two nights and if you want to do the big bus a stop is just outside the hotel including the night stop.

I was so taken with this hotel-- the ambiance was incredible and the historical charm irresistible. From drinks in the cozy Round Robin, live music and cocktails under twinkling lights on the patio of the hotel's restaurants, to comfortable and spacious rooms, my experience was perfect. Staff were attentive and professional, location was great, and the character of the entire property was reflective of the city and unique to the hotel. I will definitely visit again.

Located at the heart of the city. The White House, the Washington Monument and most of the museums are within reach of short walk. The room is spacious and the bathroom has a good size. The Hotel lobby and meeting rooms/event halls are impressive. The hotel has two cons. First, the breakfast room is small and insufficient in the mornings. Second, the windows of my room is not double glazed or very old that too much street noise is heard. Overall it's a nice business hotel.

The lobby of the hotel is stunning -- lots of frescoes and gold trim. It's historical and gorgeous. I really enjoyed my recent stay at the Willard. The location was perfect - right in the hub of everything. My room was splendid - everything was very nicely appointed. The room was big, there were bathrobes in the closet, the beds were soft. The service was superior. The only thing wanting was a microwave and fridge - I know many hotels don't have these but it would have been a nice addition. The people at the check-in were lovely and accommodating. If you seek luxury, constructed back when craftsmen cared and the quality of materials mattered, you need look no more. Not to be outdone by the surroundings, the staff take it upon themselves to provide service of the highest caliber. The rooms are very nice and most comfortable. If I must find a fault, because the construction is so solid, cell service can be spotty. On the plus side, the same solid construction provides a silent room! I've stayed at the Jefferson and the Hay-Adams and decided to try the Willard, as many sites rank all three as comparable. They're not. The Willard has a great location and history. But the rooms are dark and worn. And the service, while not necessarily lacking, isn't quite as good as the Jeff or the Hay, where your needs are identified before even you know that you're going to need something.
