This boutique hotel in Foggy Bottom is a gem. It makes my heart glad to stay here, taking in the views, & enjoying the comforts of this hotel. Staff are gracious and genuinely helpful. The room is well-designed, pleasing and so thoughtfully furnished that I easily felt at home. The views are delightful. My upper floor room had an expansive view -- from the Washington Monument, to Watergate, and a bit ( look for it) of the Potomac. I haven't seen the view facing Georgetown. The hotel is on ... Spacious room! We selected this hotel mainly for two reasons: it's within comfortable walking distance from the Kennedy center for the performing arts, and the rooms have a small kitchen. Both aspects turned out very well! Furthermore the room was very quiet, as the neighbourhood itself is quiet. It is also within easy walking distance from picturesque Georgetown, as well as from the Foggy Bottom / George Washington University metro station. This is not a five start hotel by any stretch but a great hotel when you are on a budget. The hotel staff are really friendly. The location is super convenient location about two blocks from the Foggy Bottom Metro (blue and orange lines) two blocks from the George Washington University. The hotel is nestled into a DC neighborhood which provides a safe feel. I believe most rooms come with a couch and a kitchen which is great for families on a budget. The location was ideal. It is a 13 minute metro ride from Reagan Airport to Foggy Bottom Metro stop and then less than a 5 minute walk to the hotel. This metro stop connects you easily to most popular sites in DC. It is maybe a 10 minute walk to the Kennedy Center and less than 10 minutes to a great area of restaurants along the river called Georgetown Waterfront Park. It is also not that far to walk to all attractions along The Mall. The hotel itself is not fancy, but rooms are large and clea... Read more

It's our second time here and again it never failed us. Check in was a breeze. The room is quite spacious as always. Bathroom is clean and I love how they have 2 vanity mirrors before the entrance of the bathroom. Bed is pretty comfortable too. Check out is a pleasant experience and had no problems at all. They even offered storage for my luggage and transportation which I rarely hear from hotels unless I ask them. We know we'll be staying here again.

Although the room has some minor maintenance requirements, such as small peeling paint on walls and furniture. The room was huge, and with a very comfortable bed. The staff was attentive, friendly and helpful. The location for me is not the best for sightseeing in DC. You have to walk about 30 minutes to reach either the White House or the Lincoln Memorial. We stayed at the River Inn for our 10th wedding anniversary. The staff went out of their way and gave us the special treatment (including a bottle of champagne in the room). I stayed at The River Inn for 3 nights recently. The staff was very friendly and accommodating and I felt that the location was top notch. What I don't quite understand is why my room rate was more than $300/night after taxes and fees for a building that is in dire need of a renovation and remodel. I've attached some pictures of the included kitchen that will give you an idea of what you'll see that isn't in the pictures on their website. We really enjoyed our stay. The sofa bed was very comfortable, the complimentary waters and bath supplies were very appreciated, the room was clean and spacious and well kept during our stay. We all especially enjoyed the infused waters in the lobby. The rain shower was also a big hit. Luxurious towels, comfortable beds, quiet, super location. We even had a nice view from the top floor. It was really just perfect! The only complaint we had was that the on-demand movies seemed overpriced.

The staff was warm, efficient, helpful and made my stay. I did not have a chance to eat in the restaurant, but it looked really nice. I picked this location as I needed to go to the Spanish Embassy (at Washington Circle a few blocks away) but this is great for George Washington University or just being in Washington in general - the Foggy Botttom Metro station is nearby. If you want a quick breakfast, there is a great Whole Foods nearby with a food bar and seating.

Just returned from a 6 night vacation in DC with my husband and two adult children. Stayed in the One bedroom double suite. The rooms were really large and we had plenty room. Our 30 year old son slept on the double sofa bed in the lounge area and was perfectly comfortable. Although we didn't really make use of the kitchen it had everything you'd need if you wanted to have some meals in your room. The fridge freezer was full sized which was also a bonus. The staff at the River Inn couldn't have ... Read more

We had switched hotels that weekend and ended up at The River Inn. Every single staff member was so welcoming and friendly! The hotel was clean and there was complimentary fruit infused water (which we LOVED). The front desk got wind of our recent engagement and surprised us with champagne, dessert, and a lovely personal card. We were so flattered. The River Inn was a 10/10 and we cannot wait to come back and visit.

We arrived in Washington for just 24 hours, and I had searched for a family friendly hotel, in an easy safe area, and this kept popping up. I would definitely come back. The staff were truly wonderful - I was alone with my two kids, and our bags were transported from the car to the room and then back out again. Car was valet parked with no fuss at all and brought to the front when we were leaving. Staff were friendly and helpful - from pointing us in the right direction for where to eat (lots... Read more

5 minutes walk form Foggy Bottom Metro Station in a very quiet historic street. Friendly and helpful staff. We had a room with a kitchenette (Microwave/Fridge Freezer/Kettle/Tea/Coffe/ Water/Cips/bowls/glasses/knives and forks etc). There is a small grocery shop (7) around the corner or a massive grocery store nr Foggy Bottom metro about 6 minutes away. Apart from its own Restaurant there are plant of places to eat nearby 5-10 minutes walking. We tried several. Ciso was good but Notti Bianche -... Read more

We found this beautiful place on hotels.com. we had never heard of it but it seemed to have the location and amenities we were looking for. We arrived in DC two hours early. We were unsure if we would be able to check into the hotel as they had a 3 p.m. check-in policy. Once we figured out the parking situation at the hotel ( which is valet only at $40 a day).. we went inside and they were very kind and let us check in early.. it was a smaller Boutique Hotel meaning not outdated by any means but... Great location for walking and taking the Metro. The staff was friendly and helpful. Would recommend this hotel to anyone that enjoys walking to Georgetown and enjoys the Foggy Bottom area. Valet parking is $40 but they did get your car quickly. I recommend leaving your car at home.

I really liked this area. Close to Georgetown with good restaurants and close to the monuments. Clean and peaceful. The receptionists were very helpful and friendly. Continental breakfast good. Wifi working good. Housekeeping good. Rooms a little old-fashioned. Problems with the safe in my room. This was repaired in a few hours.
