The Normandy is a lovely and quiet retreat. Dupont Circle, Adams Morgan, and the National Zoo are easily walkable, although the walk from Dupont Circle is uphill, so you'll get a workout. The staff were friendly and helpful. As someone else wrote, there are no vending machines, but there is a 7-11 just a block away at the intersection of Wyoming, 19th, and Columbia Road. The room was small, but charming and modern.

rooms were small, but comfortable. Breakfast was very nice. Best was the espresso machine, both in the room and at breakfast. There is a safe in the room. Bathroom was modern and well lit. Refrigerator in the room was great for drinks. Bottled water was provided each day.

The Normandy Hotel is a very nice hotel just above Dupont Circle and just west of Connecticut Avenue. The Hotel, we were told, was a former girl's boarding school. The rooms look as though they had recently been renovated and upgraded and were very nice. Our room was a good size with a nice large bathroom. The hate provides a nice continental breakfast that appears to more on the European side, meats and cheeses and hard-boiled eggs. The hotel also provides a nice happy hour from 5-6 pm... Read more

Great hotel, location wise it really works, walking distance to the Mall, museums and Memorials. Also to Georgetown and the great restaurants there. Room was great, clean, comfortable and with all the amenities needed, fridge, toiletries and free wi-fi. The continental breakfast was more than enough to start your day right and the wine and cheese hour a nice bonus. Nice public areas to relax and the staff was friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this property and return to it if I ... Read more

Lovely staff, clean room (Nespresso coffee machine & bottle water included). 2nd stay and we'll book our next stay when back in DC. Convenient location yet in a neighborhood area and they have garage parking onsite (so few DC boutique hotels offer valet parking). We prefer smaller boutique experience with easy access to the sites.

The hotel is adorable, and the staff was pleasant and helpful. I especially loved the decor and the nook where breakfast was served every day. There is also a nice seating area outside, and a wine and cheese hour. The location in Dupont Circle is great!

From the moment I arrived at The Normandy, it felt like home. Brandon at the front desk was very warm and welcoming and assisted me right away with my questions of the area. While I was here for half business and half pleasure, they made sure that every need I had was met. Even down to several pieces of duct tape to mark my black suitcase for easier identification. When I return to DC next, I will most certainly stay here once again!

We enjoyed our stay, the rooms are very small due to the age of the hotel property, the carpets need to be cleaned, they were very stained. The beds were very comfortable. The coffee machines in the rooms have very poor choice of coffee and no instructions on how to use them. The espresso machine in the kitchen is not good, and the coffee is bad. I had to put the creamer part of the machine together myself to get it to function properly. Improve on these things and it would give a much better im... Read more

This is a wonderful hotel in a great location! It is veryclose to all Adams Morgan has to offer but is tucked away on a quiet, residential street. The staff were wonderful and I was pleased with everything. I especially liked the Nespresso machine in room. Not only will I stay here again in the future, I have told my friends living in DC torecommend it to travelers from out of town.

Stayed overnight for a birthday celebration and this hotel was perfect. Easy walking distance, about 20 mins, to the all the monuments and museums, DuPont Circle, and anything else in downtown DC. Rooms were surprisingly very quiet considering how close all the properties are to one another in the neighborhood. Hands down best part of this stay was the staff at the hotel. Everyone we encountered was very friendly and went out their way to make sure you had everything you needed. Will definitel... Read more

The Normandy is an older hotel in the European tradition, located in a residential neighborhood north of Dupont Circle. The rooms are reasonable size - not giant, but big enough - and very comfortable. Extremely quiet, almost like sleeping in the country. The rooms are well appointed, with marble baths, duvets on bed, desk, etc. The breakfast is inexpensive continental style, with mini-expresso maker. Short walk to section of Connecticut Ave with loads of good restaurants. If you want huge mod... Read more

Wasn't sure when the shuttle bus dropped us off at the Normandy as it was our first time in Washington. However the staff on reception were fantastic and soon waylaid any fears that we were far from the attractions. We like to walk to get our bearings however the bus service into the center is handy and reliable. 20 minutes walked us to the White House and and most of the attractions are handy from there. Please note that there are ongoing metro works in Washington at present so the roads ... Read more

I just visited The Normandy for the third time. It is one of my favorite places to stay while in Washington, D.C. I will be going back on my next visit. It is very conveniently located and the rooms are lovely. The great staff is very helpful with any thing I needed. It is within walking distance to a number of wonderful restaurants and shops. I'm a big fan of the happy hour they host. :)

This was our first visit to Washington DC The Normandy Hotel was part of our package and not directly chosen by us. The hotel is quaint very clean and there is a nice relaxed atmosphere. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. The room was nicely decorated but somewhat small, only criticism was there was no drawer space for clothes. View wasn't very good from room, but we weren't there to stay in!! Would definitely use this hotel again if we were travel back to Washington

From the outside it looks more like an apartment building, but inside its quaint and has a lot of character. They kept to the historic factor of the building/area. Valet is $35 or so if I remember correctly and its located on a very quiet residential block, but on the corner. THeir wine hour was great, but def more young adult crowd. There is seating outside in the front and a small patio thats very cute/romantic. It is about a 5-10 minute walk to several cute cafes, restaurants and shops. If yo... Read more

unassuming from outside, inside warm and cozy. friendly and accommodating front desk staff. Small room but clean and modern. Wine and cheese in common area. Only complaint $9 per person for breakfast of bagels/cereal and did not know about charge in advance. Nearest Metro stop is Dupont Circle, about 10 minute walk. Kept our car and bags after we checked out so we could keep an appointment, helped us a lot.

Excellent service the staff could not do enough for us. Great location. Room nice plenty big enough for two. No bath but huge shower. Didnt eat the breakfast as we were out. We missed cheese and wine hour which is great as it's complimentary. The only thing that really let's this hotel down is the $40 per night parking. So $80 for two nights. I stayed at this hotel 4 years ago and chose it again this time for a long weekend in the DC area. Incredibly, I was put at the same room I stayed before, while my kids got another one with two queen beds. Here's the good: the hotel is in a very charming neighborhood, with easy access to the subway and a lot of small cafes and stores nearby. Very friendly, helpful and happy staff. Hotel is within walking distance to restaurants and shops, train, buses etc. on checking in we were given a small room with only 1 bed. There was barely room for the 2 of us , our luggage and a roll away bed. The roll away bed was very uncomfortable with minimum bedding and prominent mattress springs. All of the personnel we dealt with were wonderful, helpful, and kind. The problems we had were with our room. We had made a reservation for four adults. When we arrived, we had a room with one bed and was told that there were no more rooms available, They moved in a cot which made the room too crowded. We were given free breakfast but it was not worth the $13. charge. Also there were no soda and snack machines.
