The Normandy is a lovely and quiet retreat. Dupont Circle, Adams Morgan, and the National Zoo are easily walkable, although the walk from Dupont Circle is uphill, so you'll get a workout. The staff were friendly and helpful. As someone else wrote, there are no vending machines, but there is a 7-11 just a block away at the intersection of Wyoming, 19th, and Columbia Road. The room was small, but charming and modern.

The Normandy Hotel is a very nice hotel just above Dupont Circle and just west of Connecticut Avenue. The Hotel, we were told, was a former girl's boarding school. The rooms look as though they had recently been renovated and upgraded and were very nice. Our room was a good size with a nice large bathroom. The hate provides a nice continental breakfast that appears to more on the European side, meats and cheeses and hard-boiled eggs. The hotel also provides a nice happy hour from 5-6 pm... Read more

Great hotel, location wise it really works, walking distance to the Mall, museums and Memorials. Also to Georgetown and the great restaurants there. Room was great, clean, comfortable and with all the amenities needed, fridge, toiletries and free wi-fi. The continental breakfast was more than enough to start your day right and the wine and cheese hour a nice bonus. Nice public areas to relax and the staff was friendly and helpful. Lovely staff, clean room (Nespresso coffee machine & bottle water included). 2nd stay and we'll book our next stay when back in DC. Convenient location yet in a neighborhood area and they have garage parking onsite (so few DC boutique hotels offer valet parking). We prefer smaller boutique experience with easy access to the sites.

The hotel is adorable, and the staff was pleasant and helpful. I especially loved the decor and the nook where breakfast was served every day. There is also a nice seating area outside, and a wine and cheese hour. The location in Dupont Circle is great!

From the moment I arrived at The Normandy, it felt like home. Brandon at the front desk was very warm and welcoming and assisted me right away with my questions of the area. While I was here for half business and half pleasure, they made sure that every need I had was met. Even down to several pieces of duct tape to mark my black suitcase for easier identification. When I return to DC next, I will most certainly stay here once again!

We enjoyed our stay, the rooms are very small due to the age of the hotel property, the carpets need to be cleaned, they were very stained. The beds were very comfortable. The coffee machines in the rooms have very poor choice of coffee and no instructions on how to use them. The espresso machine in the kitchen is not good, and the coffee is bad. I had to put the creamer part of the machine together myself to get it to function properly. Improve on these things and it would give a much better im... Read more

This is a wonderful hotel in a great location! It is veryclose to all Adams Morgan has to offer but is tucked away on a quiet, residential street. The staff were wonderful and I was pleased with everything. I especially liked the Nespresso machine in room. Not only will I stay here again in the future, I have told my friends living in DC torecommend it to travelers from out of town.

Stayed overnight for a birthday celebration and this hotel was perfect. Easy walking distance, about 20 mins, to the all the monuments and museums, DuPont Circle, and anything else in downtown DC. The Normandy is an older hotel in the European tradition, located in a residential neighborhood north of Dupont Circle. The rooms are reasonable size - not giant, but big enough - and very comfortable. Extremely quiet, almost like sleeping in the country. The rooms are well appointed, with marble baths, duvets on bed, desk, etc. The breakfast is inexpensive continental style, with mini-expresso maker. Wasn't sure when the shuttle bus dropped us off at the Normandy as it was our first time in Washington. However the staff on reception were fantastic and soon waylaid any fears that we were far from the attractions. We like to walk to get our bearings however the bus service into the center is handy and reliable. 20 minutes walked us to the White House and and most of the attractions are handy from there. I live in the same area as this hotel and have passed it often. Last Sunday disaster struck and our home was flooded, needing a place to get ready for work we quickly retreated to the Normandy hotel. Not only was the device excellent but we almost felt like secrete on vacation in France, not just around the corner from our flooded home.

The only thing that I could say that could have been better was that the carpet in room 110 was stained and should be replaced. Otherwise, this hotel was much more personal and friendly than many of the other larger hotels that I would typically stay at. The staff were excellent and cared about our comfort and our experience in DC in general. The atmosphere in the lobby, lounge and dining area had cool vibe with good music and the wine and cheese hour was a perfect way to end the work day. I wil... Read more

Stayed here while taking our granddaughter college shopping. DuPont Circle was a great neighborhood to introduce her to DC. Neighborhood is vibrant with a range of restaurants and most things you need, while the hotel is secluded and quiet. The hotel itself is unique, the staff was friendly and helpful, the room comfortable.

This hotel was exceptional. The hospitality was absolutely amazing all hotel staff were super friendly and super gracious with grand knowledge of the DC area. The best part they provide an hour everyday of complementary wine with cheese. The only down fall from the hotel were two things the Continental breakfast- which is charged $12 dollars a day with barely any great selections or options and two the cable would act funny from time to time. Hotel is conveniently located to restaurants, DC metro station, and other sights in Dupont Circle area. Great location if you don't mind walking short distance to restaurants. As an older hotel, room size is very modest, but hotel was quiet and cozy. Hotel offers a continental breakfast (for a charge). They provide a wine and cheese hour in the early evening hours as well as chocolate chip cookies!

The Normandy Team is the definition of hospitality! At every other hotel I've stayed, I've never experienced the feeling of being truly welcomed. From the moment I walked into the Normandy, I felt more than welcomed. Every staff member I encountered was genuinely friendly and engaging, providing service above and beyond what I ever would have expected. I witnessed many staff members take special time out of their day to provide myself, and other guests, with a little something extra that made us... Read more

I stayed there 3 nights and was quite surprised on how nice this hotel was for the money I spent! It's in a quiet neighborhood close to DuPont Circle. Beds were very comfortable, I was not a fan of the rain shower - shower head. Water pressure low. I did not do the $12 continental brunch - I felt it was not worth the money for a bagel or muffin. Very friendly accommodating staff! I would stay there again!

Great stay. My girlfriend booked a last minute trip for labor day, she wanted to see DC and she found something on Groupon or somewhere...anyway, we get there from a 5 hour drive and the only negative thing is that it is so neatly tucked into this neighborhood that we drove right past and didn't know it was there. Hats off to Brandon and his cheerful staff during this 3 day business stay. My phone rang, and the front desk asked me if I was happy with my room! The hotel is also within walking distance to du pont circle & metro station & is also a quick walk to the Hilton where you can start your Big Bus tour. Free wifi & bottled water is provided as well as a cheese & wine in the late afternoon. Breakfast is limited but adequate.

The website for this hotel is misleading. The photos and descriptions present it as a unique, boutique hotel but the rooms are totally average and lackluster, like any other chain hotel. The website also encouraged us to bring our personal streaming device and cables, but we were not able to hook up any of them. We had to call the front desk twice but still no one was able to help us out. The lobby of the hotel and the continental breakfast were more luxurious, and the neighborhood is gorgeous.
