"The Embassy Row Hotel is in an ideal location, central to the Metro, and very safe. It's a young, vibrant area filled with lots of mid-range restaurant choices. As for the accommodations, we were quite satisfied. The bedding linens are very nice and although the room was small, it was clean and updated. It's no smaller than what you'd expect in another large city--NYC or London. My son and I stayed for three nights while touring DC and we felt very safe. I would stay at the Embassy Row again!"

"The reason that I did not rate very poor was due to its location. 4 things to complain about this hotel - 1. The wall is ultra thin: I can hear the guy coughing next door and when he flushed the toilet. To make it worse, there was a drinking party one night. And the hotel staffs did not seem to be able to control the situation despite two calls to the service line. 2. The elevator is scary: not sure how the maintenance was done. My daughter and I were trapped in the elevator for a couple minutes one day. The elevator did not stop at the floor that we pushed, instead, it went up and down and went back up to the right floor. Since the , my daughter wanted to climb stairs instead. 3. Dated deco - Less bothersome to me given its price. 4. Breakfast - if it was ever an option, I won't choose it."

"We had a very disappointing experience at the Embassy Row Hotel.
- Although we had a non-smoking room, our room reeked of cigarettes during our entire stay - very disgusting, especially smelling cigarettes from 5-9pm and again at 7:00am and while I was taking a shower in the morning!
- Also, disappointing was the fact that there was a large bar in the hotel lobby, yet it was non-functional.
- Non-working phone - our telephone message light was on, indicating that we had a message, yet I was unable to retrieve the message from the phone and was also unable to call the front desk
I was extremely dissatisfied with our entire stay at the Embassy Hotel."

"Wonderful! Comfortable rooms, friendly and helpful staff, great view, great location (just a minute or two walk from a convenient metro stop). The breakfast is basic and some things (like a fridge) you need to request, but for someone who just wants a nice place to rest and relax in between having fun in the city, this is perfect! Highly recomment."

"The staff was extreamly nice and efficient. The breakfast was continential bagels, coffee, yogurt, and tea. It was nice in the ground level where the business level is. The hotel is older and stately, the rooms are small, however, the paper in the bathrooms is peeling and dated. The room was clean and the beds were extreamly comfy. The staff made it more than exceptional visit. I was a little put off by the parking fee of 38.00 a day. But the valet service was prompt and extra special always a smile and happy wave. The doorman is so nice and kind, he was always happy to see you, and asked about your day.
I would stay there again, it wasn't 5 stars but it was nice and kind and the area was great to get around from. Nice quiet neighborhood with food places within a block to walk to. Fantastic value for the money!"

"Thought it was a BIG stretch to pay more than my usual for a hotel, my friend and I decided to make it a part of our weekend to celebrate President Obama's Inauguration. Staff was gracious, friendly and helpful. There was a nice wine reception in late afternoon, helped us relax before going to our first Ball ever. Wonderful group of travelers present, most for the same reason we were. The room was gorgeous and access to the Metro a snap. Prices had been higher earlier then dropped to a manageable amount. Wish we had more time to hang out at the ever-enlightened Dupont Circle area."

"A few disappointments (minor): Instructions are to call downstairs before leaving so your car can be retreived from garage...no answer to phone. We simply came down and their valet retreived our car - thankfully he was quick. Breakfast serving (not sitting) area seemed small...a larger space would provide better service and more variety. Overall pleased! Website mentions bathrobes - never found ours. Listed as 3-4 stars...that's true. Easily could be simply 4 stars with some tweeks."

"my wife and i stayed over the week-end, the room was a bit small, but thats what you get in dc. the oddest part of the room was the shower. it was almost like it was an afterthought. the floor of the shower was level with the floor of the room which allowed all the water to flow out of the shower and into a drain in the middle of the room. you couldn't use any electric devices such as a hair dryer (which they provided) without standing in a puddle of water, and risk electrocution. the $40.00 valet parking fee was an insult since you don't find out about until you check in."

"Pros: This hotel has a great location and great view. Right in the center of Dupont circle and right next to the metro. Staff was friendly. Room was clean and had a decent roof top pool. Beds were clean and comfortable.
Cons: Rooms were small and our room happened to be right next to an elevator which we could here in the wall behind us all night long.
The first night we were there we smelled a strong smoke smell coming from the bathroom vents. Since we were traveling with children I called the front desk and cleaning lady came to our room to spray. Didnt help:( Free breakfast was horrible. All bread items, no protien. Best western down the street had better selection of food."

"FRUSTRATION! We booked two rooms one was what we expected the other was a room with 2 double beds. When we arrived at Embassy Row they had no booking for my double bed room. After I pulled out my receipt from Book It they said they'd find us a room. They gave us a King bed for 3 people. After requesting a cot or roll away they finally delivered a baby mat at 1:00 in the morning. "

"The main issue with the hotel was our room assignment. My mom has knee issues and our room was more than three long hallways away from the elevators. I am thankful that the front desk staff understood and was able to move us to a room directly accross from the elevator. The breakfast was basic but good. The fitness room needs an extreme makeover. There were a couple of outdated treadmills, a fitness bike with broken controls, and one of the weight machines was broken. I only worked out there once because it was so depressing."

"Location-very close to Metro-Dupont Circle was very small barely enough for the king size bed-we were given a room for someone w/wheelchair I think because there was no tub or shower enclosure-just curtains ,so the water would drain far from the shower-almost up to middle of the bathroom
The room is very clean;the lobby is well maintained
the breakfast is great-a lot of items to choose from
The staff is very helpful and friendly

"My two major problems with this hotel are the $35.00 a day to park in the hotels garage way to high for their own guest . and the sham that its an upgrade to give a so called hot breakfast its for anyone in the hotel, at least let you make a real waffle that is warm enough to melt the butter instead of making you want to just trash it and find the nearest mcdonalds and finally if you have guest in your hotel the 1st night make them feel you at least know a liittle bit about them like having 4 bath towels for 4 people not make them ask because there was only one!!!

"Great rate for a DC hotel during the week. However, rate included free high speed Wi-Fi and HOT deluxe Continental Breakfast. Well, Wi-Fi did not work despite two attempts by Hotel Staff to assist in either of the two devices I brought with me. The only thing hot about the breakfast was the toaster? Yougart, cereal and breads are not deluxe. The best part of the whole stay was the valet. He was exceeding polite and quick. Other then a convenient location, the stay was just okay."

"On the good side, the hotel was clean, seemingly safe neighborhood, easy access to taxis, close to Metro, good breakfast and lots of great places to eat in Dupont Circle (except Bistro/Bistro where they deepfried stringy chicken to make it taste like good french cooking). Try the the Greek food at Zorba's Cafe for excellent value, inexpensive wine by the bottle--self serve. Staff--including managers wanted to do well and maid service was good. Stayed out until 10:00 some evenings still felt safe walking around with my son--lots of pedestrian activity at that time. Rooms ere a little small, but good for the price.
On the challenging side, for the first two days of my 5 day trip, the hotel's internet service provided by the hotel's internet provider, would only allow infrequent and inconsistent access to the internet. I found myself having to use my cellphone's hotspot to gain consistent access. The next three days, while I could get on the internet, I found it difficult to remotely access my office computer and kept getting dumped out. I thought it was a problem with my office, but I did not have the same problem when I used my mobile hotspot. So again, it was the provider's problem or that of the hotel. I think it was provider's because when I called the its number, I was placed into a phone tree that told me that I needed to 'repair my computer.' Later provider reluctantly confessed that the server at the hotel was down.
On the nightmare side, the hotel advertised as having business center/services/lounge. But it was under construction and not functional at all--door was even locked. While with prompting, staff offered to let me use the facilities at the Fairfax hotel (across the street), I was going to have to pay extra for those services. Site and information they provide needs to be updated and accurate.
Because there was no business center, any alternatives to the above internet problem and to print travel vouchers, I had to send my boarding passes to the manager's e-mail address. They could not be printed when he was not available. Had to hold up going out to dinner until they could be sent to another e-mail address. The temporary or interim problem could have been solved by assigning a general e-mail address which could be accessed by clerks at the front desk.
Bottom line, bring lots of internet connection alternatives when you travel--especially a smartphone with a hotspot. I'd still stay at the hotel again, but first confirm that its business center is open or closed and then be prepared for a backup plan if the internet does not work.

"My stay in Washington DC at the Embassy Row Hotel was a clean, relaxed stay. The proximity of the hotel to public transport was very close, the staff was friendly and helped us with maps and directions to find restaurants and shops. The only thing I was upset about was the Thypoon restaurant it was the worst food and the most overprice food i ever tasted but we had a great time clean rooms and a great breakfast every day.PS The pool is a plus and the area is well lit at night and the staff was very courteous. I will gave this hotel 4 stars."

"The hotel was well located close to Dupont circle and a corner to the red line subway. Major sites accessible by subway in 5-10 min max. Confortable room, renovation needed but nothing major. Breakfast average but sufficient. Nice view of the rooftop and pool. Good price, and location."

"I booked for 1 night we like the hotel and had a good room (double) and great price so we decided to stay for a second night we had to move to another room (single king) with my husband and little boy which was no problem the price was only $10 more! In the second room I found a bug on the bed that looked like either a bed bug or spider I went down and told the front desk and was told it was a spider. The Air conditioner did not work good in the second room and it was really hot that day and night, even with that I would have to say the hotel stay was good. The free breakfast was really good and had a wide variety! Free internet helped us plan our tours of the city! The greatest thing about this hotel was the location (Dupont Circle) was one block from Metro which took us to everything we wanted to do1"

"Great location and rooms are clean and quiet - especially on the north side of the hotel. It is my go-to hotel when on business in DC since it is close to the red line Dupont Circle metro stop, close to restaurants, CVS, bookstores, coffee shops. And if you want to take a walk, plenty of side streets with houses with gardens, residents out walking their dogs and plenty of people out on the streets."

"The room was so small. The ac vent had mold in it so that we got allergies in the room. We had to change the room the same day. Bathroom was not clean. Soap dish was broken. Very poor quality and it was so hot in elevator. The ac was so loud. They should add eggs in the breakfast."

"The Embassy Row Hotel room was very tiny, in fact we had to rearrange the room to even move from one side to another. Although the room was comfortable we did have uncomfortable breakfasts; no room for sitting while eating!
The location was nice as we were within easy access to the Metro and many options for lunches and dinners."
