This hotel was near public transportation. For the price, I would have expected more. The room was equivalent to that of an economy hotel. They did have a small refrigerator box, a coffee maker, but paper cups vs. Ceramic coffee cups. The comforter on the beds was in great need of more batting. I searched the closet or additional blankets, there were none. The water pressure in the bathroom sink was next to nothing. The lobby interior was beautiful, they have an upscale restaurant and a sports... Read more

Very beautiful hotel in the down strict district of Washington DC! Right around the corner from Chinatown as well, a lot of nightlife around too! Staff is super nice, two restaurants and full bar on site, underground safe parking and on site rental company for vehicles (hertz). Will stay again most definitely !

I stayed at the Renaissance for two nights to attend a graduation. We got an excellent rate that included breakfast and valet parking. The hotel is large and busy, but check in was efficient and friendly. Our room was nothing special (I don't expect special at this type of hotel), but it was large enough, modern enough and clean, with a comfortable bed. Bathroom was sufficient and stocked with Aveda products. The lobby is large, and there are various choices of places to sit that range from "cen... Read more

We stayed there last week and it was real nice and comfortable. Close ad convenient to everything. They have a fresh market in the lobby that had excellent salads and other less expensive choices for food. Beds are comfy and the rooms were a delight with Washington art and humor

This hotel has nicely appointed rooms some facing inside and some facing the street with views. The inside facing rooms are quiet. Close to everything really. Some super restaurants within 1 or 2 blocks There is a vibrant lobby bar and a large sports bar with tons of TVs.

Great room. WiFi in room weak but excellent in lobby and for our Conf. Booze expensive but a Walgreen 4 blocks away in Chinatown selling beer. Another block from Chinatown and you're at the Verizon Centre. From hotel, straight down 9th St for about 20 min walk and you hit the Natl mall at the Smithsonian portrait museum. Turn left and a short additional walk and you're at the Air and Space and National museum of the American Indian. If one insists, can keep going to the Capital. I personally ... Read more

Overpriced hotel that still wants to nickel and dime you for WiFi. Bathroom sink looks fancy, but provides you a weird trickling stream. Cheap feeling towels. The location's the only plus for this place. Spend the same and stay somewhere better.

The location of the Renaissance Washington DC hotel is fantastic. Across the street from City Center, three blocks from the Portrait Galleries, close to the White House, the Capitol, Union Station and Chinatowne. The rooms are fair. The bed is like sleeping on a concrete slab. If you toss at all not only does the bottom sheet come up, but the mattress pad does as well. The water pressure in the bathroom leaves a lot to be desired for both the sink and the shower. The fact that the pool has no... Read more

Great Location, super nice people. Front desk staff very good. Definitely talk to the Navigator desk folks - they are super. Like any hotel, service is good except when you have a problem, Our bathtub was very slow draining, so when you're showering, you stand in a couple inches or water, YUK. Asked 3 times to have the drain cleared, got lip service. (I guess you have to tip for that). Asked for Tea instead of Coffee for the room, got it 1/4 nights. So my flight home was delayed, delayed, delayed. 6 hours later, I called the airline and rebooked. Then called the Renaissance because no one has better beds. It's 15ish minutes by cab from Reagan airport. The staff was super nice. And the bed...well,6 hours on and off the tarmack, I earned that bed. And the great night's sleep. Free wifi. Gorgeous lobby with lots of nooks for small meetings or to work. A good breakfast buffet and I am back at the airport hoping to get home today.

Just spent about 2 weeks at the Renaissance Hotel and found it to be all around pretty average, at best. The rooms are decent with a comfortable bed and pleasant Aveda bath products, but the astronomical price to stay here (over $400 a night at times) can only be justified by the location and the lack of available hotel rooms during the busy tourist season in DC. We were underwhelmed by the service and some hotel policies. For instance, on two separate occasions we called the front desk for c... Read more

The Renaissance was the perfect combination of location, quality, and value for a one-night stay in D.C. My wife and I received exceptional service from Front Desk and Concierge staff - Nittaya, Victoria, and Yusuf. Their energy, enthusiasm, smiles, and helpful recommendations are why we will return here despite slightly scratchy towels and loud neighbors yelling through the night. Location is a healthy walking distance, but I was able to push my wife in a wheelchair over to the White House a... Read more

If you look at most of my reviews, I try to spend less time opining and more time pointing things out that I would have liked to know prior to booking. First, there is nothing "wrong" with this hotel. Its a very standard, fairly large hotel that caters to conference goers. You've seen these everywhere - from Omaha to Orlando. You know the type. Its clean, efficient and serves its purpose. The lobby is spacious and staff reasonably accommodating, and of course a Starbucks is adjoined to t... Read more

This is a good hotel. I would not consider it very good or excellent. Given Tripadvisor jumps from "average" to "very good", i rate it in the middle. Just another standard hotel with a standard service that gets it right most of the times. If you travel a lot it is the type of hotel you forget you have stayed in a few months later. Good bed and good shower. Slow elevator and sometimes long queues to get in an elevator. The room service surprised me the most. Delivered in a brown paper bag with p... Read more

This hotel was perfect for my quick weekend getaway to see family. It was very easy to find and get to. The location was great. Since I'm a walker I was able to walk to all the sightseeing locations I wanted to visit. Everyone, from the moment I pulled up, was supper helpful. I was given a room with a nice view. I would definitely stay there again. My only complaint is the cost of parking in the city. I don't appreciate paying $35 for one nights parking in an underground garage. And that's the c... Read more

I had a conference at the Renaissance DC hotel. It is beautiful to say the least and is located super close to Chinatown so that was great. The staff were very nice. I really can't believe that this hotel doesn't have a pool....although the front desk clerk said they have a small pool for one. Is that called a tub??? No but really, I'm super disappointed. Beautiful hotel in a perfect location. Margaret at the concierge lounge was such a delight, Paul at the valet was welcoming and helpful. However, I'm a bit disappointed in the front desk Professionalism and cleaning of the bathroom. This is the first time that I checked-in into a Marriott and not to be greeted by the front desk. We found a great eat in supermarket called Wholefoods market on 22 street, amazing I recommend the Renaissance close to Georgetown and all major sites.

My visit to Renaissance was a bit of a disappointment. The first issue was related to the elevators - there were major waits for getting up to rooms and down to the lobby - often lasting 10-15 minutes. The first room which I was issues was dubbed "a quiet courtyard room" which was a glorified cave with no natural light. After repeated attempts and long elevator waits I finally got a serviceable room. Though DC is rapidly changing the location of this hotel in a newly gentrified neighbourhood i... Read more

Good thing I didn't need to be in my room much. This lodging experience was loud! I didn't mind having a room overlooking New York Ave, and the street noises are to be expected, including loads of emergency vehicle sirens and motorcades. On top of that though, an extremely loud construction project across the street started every day at 7:30am, and the doors of neighboring rooms seem to bang shut and shake the entire floor. Lovely hotel, with good staff. Everyone was very attentive and we had great help from Yavar and Yusuf, who were particularly brilliant. The Concierge Lounge was marvellous, with a wide range of food and drink available at all times. There's a handy Starbucks in the lobby as well as a small shop selling good quality, albeit expensive, fresh produce, sandwiches, etc. Apart from the absence of a pool, this is a great place to stay and we thoroughly enjoyed our week at The Renaissance.
