This hotel was near public transportation. For the price, I would have expected more. The room was equivalent to that of an economy hotel. They did have a small refrigerator box, a coffee maker, but paper cups vs. Ceramic coffee cups. The comforter on the beds was in great need of more batting. I searched the closet or additional blankets, there were none. The water pressure in the bathroom sink was next to nothing. The lobby interior was beautiful, they have an upscale restaurant and a sports... Read more

Very beautiful hotel in the down strict district of Washington DC! Right around the corner from Chinatown as well, a lot of nightlife around too! Staff is super nice, two restaurants and full bar on site, underground safe parking and on site rental company for vehicles (hertz). Will stay again most definitely !

I stayed at the Renaissance for two nights to attend a graduation. We got an excellent rate that included breakfast and valet parking. The hotel is large and busy, but check in was efficient and friendly. Our room was nothing special (I don't expect special at this type of hotel), but it was large enough, modern enough and clean, with a comfortable bed. Bathroom was sufficient and stocked with Aveda products. The lobby is large, and there are various choices of places to sit that range from "cen... Read more

Great room. WiFi in room weak but excellent in lobby and for our Conf. Booze expensive but a Walgreen 4 blocks away in Chinatown selling beer. Another block from Chinatown and you're at the Verizon Centre. From hotel, straight down 9th St for about 20 min walk and you hit the Natl mall at the Smithsonian portrait museum. Turn left and a short additional walk and you're at the Air and Space and National museum of the American Indian. If one insists, can keep going to the Capital. I personally ... Read more

The location of the Renaissance Washington DC hotel is fantastic. Across the street from City Center, three blocks from the Portrait Galleries, close to the White House, the Capitol, Union Station and Chinatowne. The rooms are fair. The bed is like sleeping on a concrete slab. If you toss at all not only does the bottom sheet come up, but the mattress pad does as well. The water pressure in the bathroom leaves a lot to be desired for both the sink and the shower. The fact that the pool has no... Read more

Great Location, super nice people. Front desk staff very good. Definitely talk to the Navigator desk folks - they are super. Like any hotel, service is good except when you have a problem, Our bathtub was very slow draining, so when you're showering, you stand in a couple inches or water, YUK. Asked 3 times to have the drain cleared, got lip service. (I guess you have to tip for that). Asked for Tea instead of Coffee for the room, got it 1/4 nights. It's 15ish minutes by cab from Reagan airport. The staff was super nice. And the bed...well,6 hours on and off the tarmack, I earned that bed. And the great night's sleep. Free wifi. Gorgeous lobby with lots of nooks for small meetings or to work. A good breakfast buffet and I am back at the airport hoping to get home today.

Just spent about 2 weeks at the Renaissance Hotel and found it to be all around pretty average, at best. The rooms are decent with a comfortable bed and pleasant Aveda bath products, but the astronomical price to stay here (over $400 a night at times) can only be justified by the location and the lack of available hotel rooms during the busy tourist season in DC. We were underwhelmed by the service and some hotel policies. For instance, on two separate occasions we called the front desk for c... Read more

If you look at most of my reviews, I try to spend less time opining and more time pointing things out that I would have liked to know prior to booking. First, there is nothing "wrong" with this hotel. Its a very standard, fairly large hotel that caters to conference goers. You've seen these everywhere - from Omaha to Orlando. You know the type. Its clean, efficient and serves its purpose. The lobby is spacious and staff reasonably accommodating, and of course a Starbucks is adjoined to t... Read more

This is a good hotel. I would not consider it very good or excellent. Given Tripadvisor jumps from "average" to "very good", i rate it in the middle. Just another standard hotel with a standard service that gets it right most of the times. If you travel a lot it is the type of hotel you forget you have stayed in a few months later. Was a reasonable choice for a short stay in DC. Not too far from the train station, metro stations, a 15 minute walk to the Mall or the White House. A good selection of restaurants close by too. Rooms were nice and modern, a little small, but not too cramped. Nice staff, trendy looking lobby with a small bar and Starbucks.

This is a nice hotel in a good central location. Our room was spacious and felt quite new. Not sure about the service though based on our check-in experience. Upon arrival, we were told that our king bed room that I requested when making the reservation was not available. After some discussion we were given a room that purportedly had a queen bed, which would have been acceptable. After going to the room we found it was actually a smaller double bed, so back to the front desk we went. There, a m... Read more

Hello, I stayed at the Renaissance Washington, DC Downtown Hotel the past weekend 8/5/16-8/7/16. Front Desk Agents were all friendly and the guest rooms were up to par as well. I would have given a high rating towards the hotel but my experience at the Starbucks located on the property was a disaster. Saturday morning - I waited in line to order a cold brew coffee. When it came my turn to order, I was informed that they did not have any. The cashier by the name of 'Cheikh' said it takes at leas... Read more

This hotel is typical of many Washington hotels: well located, large, and relatively expensive. There is easy access to nearby dining, the convention centre, and the metro system. Service was very good and the rooms were clean and well appointed. We did have a problem at check in when our two bed reservation was turned into a single bed. The staff did help to quickly resolve this.

A hotel with no elite member line is not a 4 or 5 star hotel. You would expect better from this place but if well, what can you do. Service is also SUPER SLOW here; don't expect much. Their status line moves very slow... just pretend you don't have status to get your room faster.

There's really nothing wrong with this hotel if you're at a conference. The rate was fine for DC, which can be pricey. I think we paid $160/night which I split with my roommate for this conference, and that made it ultra-affordable. But good GRIEF, people, puleeeeeze clean your carpets in the room! Stayed for a conference in August 2016. The room is so small you cannot even wheel a suitcase past the end of the bed without having to turn it sideways. Also, there is not a single shelf for folded clothes or underwear -- just a small cupboard with space to hang things, but nowhere to place folded items. I was at this hotel for a conference for a couple of days. It is in a great location centrally located in the downtown DC area. You can walk everywhere. It's close to the Metro. It's close to the mall and the White House. It's a very safe neighborhood. The hotel lobby is great. The room that I was very fine. It was somewhat updated not as I would have expected for a Renaissance Hotel. Still a great experience. Marriott is a great chain and provides consistent service and value.

It's conveniently located near future the Convention Center & great dining/shopping at Center City, but the rooms & service leave a lot to be desired. Housekeeping didn't clean the room until 3 pm; there is no mini bar, the fridge is empty & nothing to put in the coffee machine. With no room service and even the bar closing at 1 am on a Saturday when there were 10+ people wanting food or drink, it's really more like an over priced motel. I won't return.

We spent 3 nights at the Renaissance and we enjoyed it. The hotel looks to have had some recent refurbishing as everything looked pretty new. The lobby has an atrium and is surrounded by rooms on the upper floors which gives the inside rooms a light and open feeling despite the lack of a view.
