Came here for a meeting and stayed 4 days, 3 nights. Within walking distance to the Mall and many of the Smithsonian museums. Rooms are very nice, bathroom is roomy. Bed was a little soft for my taste but not uncomfortable. Lots of channels on the cable TV if you want to relax in the room at night. My room on the 5th floor overlooked the Amtrak tracks but the soundproofing of the hotel was effective, so train did not affect my sleep or disrupt anything I was doing. From the moment we arrived we were in heaven. The gorgeous flowers in the lobby and a warm towel and lovely cup of tea at check in really set the tone. Our room was sublime and the personal touches by the staff made us feel extra special. The amethyst steam room in the Spa was magical and my husband loved the pool. We also enjoyed a delicious and innovative meal at Muze. Highly recommend this beautiful hotel for business or pleasure. It was a short but very very sweet trip.

As for as hotels go in the USA, this is a good one, and I wouldn't stay anywhere else in DC. But they have a long way to go to reach Mandarin oriental standards, or even the standards of the New York property. But the new GM seems to be the right guy to change all that and I am sure it will get much better under his watch. Part of the problem, which can't be fixed easily, is that putting Chinese pictures on the wall of a western style building anywhere doesn't bring what is different/ special/ ... Read more

This is one of the most unforgettable hotels that I've even been to. I have been here three times with my parents and brother, and each time, we are repeatedly impressed. The breakfast is amazing and the staff are really friendly. The accommodations are great too. One downside however is that room service is slow.

We traveled to celebrate my sisters birthday. Our party included a 12 year old boy, who really liked the property. We had access to the club level where there was a chess set, he particularly enjoyed that. The food was excellent and the service unparalleled. We stayed in a suite overlooking the water, with a balcony. It was roomy and had 2 bathrooms which was important to us.

Stayed 4 nights at Club room. Club Lounge was definitely worth it. Perfect location for sightseeing around the Mall and all the attractions. Check-in service was top notch but during rest of the stay, did not get the feel of a 5 star hotel experience due to what felt like indifferent service. Certainly not the levels of Ritz or Four Seasons.

Carmen the manager was great in helping me resolve a reservation issue (I had called to inquire about different rooms and was obviously speaking to a very nice but clearly not in DC agent who didn't really know much about the property in Washington -- one call to Carmen got all problems resolved and a bottle of wine sent to the room to smooth things out).

Recently stayed for business and was impressed with the property. I thought for sure I'd be disappointed, but was pleasantly surprised. Rooms-- spacious, very clean (yes, I would expect that a "5-star" would be clean, but elsewhere has been disappointed to find dust in the corners, etc. None of that here-- it was my mother level of clean ;)). Location-- solid-- easy walk to metro (5 min), plenty of taxis, etc. For those driving, easy access to 395. Not a ton of restaurants right there (I did... Read more

I stayed here while in DC for work. The Mandarin has the most warm friendliest staff. They make you fee right at home and go out of their way to help you in any way. They are at you beck and call. I've never stayed at a place with staff this friendly and remember your name. Hanna and Alyssa who work behind the front desk were beyond helpful. They made sure we were taken care of.

There is nothing wrong with the Mandarin. The rooms are spacious and nice, the bathrooms are big, the staff are friendly and the concierge is knowledgable. Never have I been charged thousands in random amounts on random dates that my bank said they never saw anything like it before in having seen a lot of hotels overcharge but not as bad and as randomly as the Mandarin did with my account while my son and I stayed at this hotel having to tolerate the incompetent front desk staff who refused to provide an accurate accounting that matched my confirmed online reservation and amenities and when I brought their overages to their attention began charging... I am planning a stay in DC for sightseeing over the holidays. I had narrowed it to 3 hotels. I had a few questions and contacted each. Hands down, the Mandarin Oriental offers fantastic service. The staff was very helpful, providing me with courteous responses. I want to commend their concierge for the polite and professional answers to my questions, what a lovely reflection upon the hotel. It is staff such as this that make a stay memorable. We look forward to our stay at the MO.

Stayed at the hotel for the first time in nearly a decade, as I have avoided it due to its location on the opposite side of the Mall (I wouldn't walk around the area at night, although daytime is fine). I was very happy with my modern well appointed and (very) large room, excellent room service and breakfast. In terms of what you get as compared with the price it is a very good hotel, far better than the faded glories of the increasingly decrepit Willard and the tiny rooms of the noisy W. I di... We stayed here last year too & what a great place! Wonderful restaurants, great lounge, the rooms were so nice. The spa is really incredible & has great amenities. The work out room & pool, nice. I love the location. Just 3 blocks away from Smithsonian museums.

Loved the room, but the hotel is far from downtown ..the service was excellent and again, the room was beautiful and had a view of the Potomac. Good value for the money, so if you have to take uber to your business meeting, it's worth it

Great location. Wonderful service. Room warm and comfortable with outstanding housekeeping including the turn down service. The bed is VERY comfortable and one can tell that the linens are high end. Highly recommend.

The Mandarin is always our choice of hotels when coming to DC. Its location is convent to the National Mall and easy access off the interstate. The service from the doorman to the room staff is phenomenal. The rooms and warm and relaxing and perfect after a long day. Our stays at the Mandarin have always been flawless and relaxing. The concierge staff in the lobby and on the Club Level were most accommodating. In fact prior to our arrival I called and spoke with Jack who set up our dinner ... Read more

Visited the hotel with a friend as we'd heard good things from other people but hadn't tried the afternoon tea. Took a while to get acknowledged from any servers in the lounge. Eventually sat down at a weird table behind another sofa in the direct sunlight. Food stand was very small with even smaller items of food and none replenished. Found it strange that there was no hot water for the teas just a waitress that cane around with a plastic kettle to fill up stewed tea with luke warm water. Stran... Read more

We stayed here for 3 nights in a suite with our two small kids (2 & <1yr). A trip that is usually a lot of work for us was made very pleasant by the staff here. Not only were the panda bears appreciated, but the baby bathroom toiletries were such a nice surprise! The crib they let us use worked great, and the room service menu also offered a kids menu. We traveled with medicine and milk, so some room needed to be made in our mini-bar fridge. A big thanks to the staff for their understanding of t... Read more

The rooms have been renovated, which is very nice. It's a a relaxing place to stay. Food in restaraunts and room service is outstanding. I also love the new bath products. Someone has paid attention to upgrade the experience. However, someone needs to upgrade the service overall. Housekeeping is poor. They don't do a good job of cleaning the rooms. The issues are with the staff. Also, the valet is hard to find although it costs $50 per day. I booked a spa appointment in person and th... Read more

This is a modern hotel located in an excellent location to visit the sites of Washington DC. We were there over Thanksgiving where turkey and pumpkin pie were the order of the day. Overall we were pleased with our stay and would recommend the hotel for courteous and attentive service.

I haven't been to DC in over 10 years and I must say I picked the perfect hotel to "welcome" me back. I stayed at the Mandarin from a Monday through Friday. Loved my stay the entire time. Everyone was extremely nice and accommodating. I'd left my computer charger and asked if there was one available that I could borrow or if there was somewhere near I could go to purchase one. The young lady who greeted me and accompanied me to my room immediately inquired and was able to retrieve one for me to ... Read more
