This hotel offered me an upgrade. I responded to the email for the upgrade. The upgrade was that I would check into my hotel at 9a.m. instead of 4p.m. Then I am told that there is a possibility that I may not be approved for the upgrade. I asked when I would know whether I have been approved or not. I was told that I would know at the time of check-in. But the time of check-in is at 4p.m. How could I take advantage of this upgrade if I would not know whether I have been approved for the ... Read more

The hotel is in a great location with very nice rooms! It was much quieter than we thought earlier. The drinks in the adjoining steakhouse were good & the servers very friendly! Our family including children loved walking to the White House!

The Madison is smaller than many of the DC mega-hotels. Friendly staff, very nice room. Location is convenient to Metro, when Metro is running :) My only beef is I found the restaurant pretty underwheliming; however, as a place to stay the hotel was fine.

GREAT all tile bathroom! Awesome linens! Stephanie and Jose are fabulous! Walking distance to White House and B Too. Several breakfast/coffee houses close by! One of the few hotels I found with 2 queen beds!

I've stayed here on a few occasions and have always enjoyed my stay. Location is great, only a few blocks to the metro any many wonderful restaurants nearby. Beds are comfy, rooms are large, staff are wonderful. Only small complaint, no coffee pot in room. Need to go down to the main floor to get coffee.

The hotel is nice. Very nice accomadations and service. Fantastic location, walking distance from everything important. Most rooms are the same down to the pictures on the wall, which makes it feel a little stock. Kind of place that will charge for everything--breakfast, food, even charging for "premium" wifi. Be prepared to spend extra if you're staying here.

Nice hotel...within walking distance to The Whitehouse and landmarks as well as The Smithsonian. Staff were accommodating and loved the history. The room had some modern conveniences...which was nice. Rooms were clean and large.

Positives: 1. Concierge and the Star service staff were professional and friendly. 2. Location is not bad with few cafes nearby for breakfast options and it's walking distance to the National Mall precinct. 3. Room was clean and quiet. Negatives: 1. We arrived at around 1am and when we tried to use the shower, no water would come out no matter how much we turned. Had to call the Star service to get an engineer to come and fix the shower tap at 2am when we really needed to just shower and sl... Read more

I've stayed here a few times, and usually have a pleasant experience. However, my recent stay was a problem due to the overwhelming smell of perfume in the hotel. When the lobby smelled like someone spilled a whole bottle of perfume, I guessed that maybe that was what had happened. But when I got to my floor, it had the same smell (although not quite as strong). I don't know if they are trying to cover up another odor, but it was horrible. The smell gets in your nose and throat! It bothere... Read more
