I stayed at this hotel about 3 years ago and upon coming back it is still as good. And consistency is good as you know what to expect. The hotel offers all amenities which you may have forgotten at home. This time around I needed shaving cream and it was there for the ask. The room and bathroom were very clean and comfortable. Then atmosphere is good and it is just a very good boutique hotel. The restaurant is good but expensive. If you want an affordable drink, go to the upper corner, make a u ... Read more

The hotel itself was ok. The only plus side to it was the complimentary wine hour from 5-6, which I did not see mentioned anywhere. I was really bummed out that I had missed a promo code for free valet parking with purchase. And I spoke to someone at the hotel and was given word that they would wave the parking for me anyway. When I received the bill, the parking was in fact still added. Shame. Luckily the morning staff was accommodating and removed it for us after we explained the situation. Ne... Read more

Great stay at this hotel! Happy hour from 5-6pm daily. Free car service in the morning. GREAT French restaurant attached to hotel. Very cool decorated rooms. Less than 20 minute walk to the Capitol and across the street from Union Station. Close to Chinatown and other food/shopping. $6 max Uber ride to national mall or White House. Would highly recommend!!!

Stayed two nights for business. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I was not able to attend the hotel wine hour so they offered me wine anyway, which was awesome. Although the room was freshly updated and on an upper level away from elevators, all noise could be heard. Restful sleep did not happen here. The bathroom was nicely appointed however a tiny, tiny shower was not the greatest adventure early in the morning.

This is a lovely hotel, perfectly located just a brief stroll from the train station and with easy access to everything you want to see and do in DC. The hotel staff went out of their way to help to celebrate my Mom's birthday - providing chocolates and treats in our room on arrival - it was lovely!

First stay at the George. Every staff member we encountered was extremely pleasant, knowledgable and helpful. Was noteworthy and I am pleased to point this out. We chose room with 2 Queens and sofa bed. Beds comfy, great AC, nice bathroom. Location right near union station, down the street from capital. We rode the metro everywhere. Would stay there again.

Amazing location. Close to the Capitol, the Mall, and Smithsonian Museums. Very nice accommodations. Staff were mediocre. Lost my luggage for a short time after I left it with the front desk prior to check-in. My shower leaked water all over the floor and was never fixed after I notified staff after the 1st night of my 4 night stay. If you would like nice accommodations in a great location and don't mind paying for it, this would be for you.

This hotel is in walking distance to Union Station and the Mall, thus very convenient to reach and to start your sightseeing tours. The room was clean and bed comfortable but relatively small. Despite the quite high price, they offered no complimentary breakfast or else. However, we liked the French bistro adjacent to the hotel and even had our anniversary dinner there which was very good for American standards.

You'll really enjoy this boutique hotel. I have stayed in many, but this is my favorite. Just small enough for personal touch service. Large enough for all of the amenities you could want. Cool decor, yet not overdone like so many boutiques. Very courteous staff. Great location for business on "The Hill" and right around the corner from Union Station.

The George is a small hotel, but they have used their space as efficiently as possible. Our room was smaller than I expected (it looked bigger on-line), but we weren't cramped in it either. The king-size bed was comfortable, too. The room was clean, and at night we couldn't hear our neighbors like you can in other hotels. The hotel is a block from Union Station Mall, which was nice to have close by. From Reagan Airport, you can ride the subway, get off at Union Station and walk to the hotel. The... Read more

Depending on what your plans are in DC, The George can be an excellent choice. The hotel has a smaller restaurant in it, which was fine for breakfast and lunch, and while there are a few good restaurants within walking distance, most of the better restaurants will require a taxi ride to and from. The George is very convenient to get to if you are flying into DCA.

We love Kimpton hotels so we were so excited to stay at the George. Everything was wonderful, but there were just a few small quirks keeping me from giving a perfect rating. The parking situation was a bit frustrating. They offered valet, but it was rather expensive, and when we asked how much it cost to park in the area, the front desk didn't know - not that it was a big deal, but it was significantly cheaper after walking across the street to ask. The service at the bar also rather slow. The o... Read more

Having never been to Washington DC before we weren't sure where to stay but we're very pleased with the location of the hotel. Only a 5 minute walk to Union Station & a 10 minute walk to The Capitol it was ideally placed for a weekend of sight seeing. The hotel is clean & modern with quirky artwork. The rooms spacious & comfortable. We signed up to the loyalty scheme & had free wifi & a $10 credit for the mini bar which was good. Free wine in the lobby at 5pm was a nice touch.

While the hotel is sufficient, I signed up for it on Hotwire because it claimed to be a deal at $96 with 4.5 stars and a 95% approval rating. The $96 turned out to be $124 by the time I had booked it on Hotwire. Then The George tacked another $20 "hotel fee" onto that, charging my credit card without informing me and then telling me I had failed to read the "fine print" at Hotwire. A pox on both their houses.

We prefer smaller hotels with European flair so The George delivered the style we were looking for. The reception staff was friendly and accommodating. Our room was nicely appointed and quiet. Overall this is a very nice hotel. I was super excited to stay here with my husband and dog over the Fourth because the decor couldn't be more patriotic (yet tasteful), as it was inspired by George Washington. We were able to check in early (by 11 am). The wine happy hour was a nice surprise. The video games in the lobby entertained children while the adults had comfortable space to relax. Hotel George is only a block away from Washington's Union station and offers a stylish, well managed stay. The food is excellent, the bar well run and the rooms are clean and well equipped. Being only a block from Union Station you are close to several Metro stations and with that, access to the major DC attractions.

I like The George. I've stayed here more than once. The location can't be beat -- close to Capitol Hill, close to the National Mall, close to transportation. The service is very good and the staff are attentive. But the hotel is best if you wake early -- 4 a.m. early -- because if you get a back room as I do (by virtue of seeking discounted rates), you're going to hear lots and lots of trucks -- delivery trucks, garbage trucks, you-name-it trucks -- in the alleyway beneath your window, whether... I've been going to DC every year for July 4 celebration for about 4/5 years now. I've been to all but one hotel in walking distance from Union Station. The George was a nice hotel, the room was clean & comfortable. However it is not worth the price. The other hotels are just as clean & comfortable and are less expensive.

My boyfriend had a one night stay in this beautiful hotel this weekend and the room was exactly what I was hoping for. Great view and best of all is the beautiful bathroom! The receptionists, especially Stacy, were so helpful. Gave great travel info and great food recommendations! I can't wait to come back soon! Thank you for such a great experience!

Five months ago I booked and prepaid for a room at this hotel. I was very excited to stay there because of it's reputation and the ambiance of it all. I drove 2 1/2 hours to get there and while I was looking for parking I received a call that the hotel was overbooked and I no longer had a room there. I spoke with their manager who told me I could stay at their sister hotel. Thanks for nothing. If I wanted to stay at another hotel I would have booked a room there. Bathroom had sliding door that left about two open inches on either side. From the wrong angle, you can see into the closed door from the outside and hear everything going on in the bathroom. Stuck me with a $20/night "hotel fee," w/o explanation. Didn't notice until it was too late to dispute. Public garage directly across the street with ridiculously reasonable rates. Bed was like a rock; terribly uncomfortable.

We were in DC for a wedding near Capitol Hill and picked the George based on its proximity to the wedding venue. We were not disappointed! It is ideally located, just a short walk from Union Station, and a 15-minute walk to the Mall and all major attractions. Take that and the fact that it's a very short walk from Union Station and the Capitol, and it's one you should consider for a visit or for business in DC. The rooms are surprisingly spacious given the location - they're not large but bigger than I expected. The staff is very professional and helpful.
