A return trip after a 2 year hiatus. In that time, they have updated the rooms. And for the most part better. Décor is certainly more modern and fresher. They can't change the size of the rooms. Since I met a friend who is a Marriott rewards member, we were able to get a room on the concierge floor. And my request for a quiet location for the room was granted and we were far away from any real possible noise. Which was really nice. Having the ability during the week to hit the concierge ... Facility is excellent, but staff makes it very efficient. From arrival through check in through meals, fantastic attentive, helpful staff.Meals were outstanding, and service prompt. Easy walking to all Mall highlights (Washington Monument, WWII Monument, Korea, Vietnam, Lincoln Memorial, on and on). Rooms are just average but amenities above average.

Attended a conference in DC. Hotel has excellent conference facilities with spacious rooms. Catering was reasonable. Breakfast is good. Check in very smooth and staff are very welcoming. Weakness is the small noisy bar with too few seats. Location is great for the White House, Smithsonian Museums and lots of good restaurants nearby. Would stay here again.

I was in DC last week and stayed at the JW, it's got the perfect location! Close to attractions, a few blocks from the White House and the Mall area. I am a Marriotts reward member so we were booked up on the Concierge level which was nice because you have access to a suite that has breakfast and snacks all during the work week, it closes down at noon on Friday. We also had free wifi but if you are not a member I am not sure of the pricing. The lobby was spacious with tons of places to sit and c... Read more

We took a family vacation with our three children over the Memorial Day week and stayed at the JW. It was in a perfect location within walking distance of the National Mall and Smithsonian. There are also some good restaurants near by. The hotel lobby was nice and the rooms were nicely decorated. Our room attendant did an excellent job every day and would always leave the kids extra chocolate. Would recommend staying here for anyone that wants a good hotel in a great location.

Centrally located very near Washington Monument, White House and Smithsonian. All museums are within walking distance. The room was neat and well appointed. The coffee maker did not work. WiFi is not free. We had our breakfast from Starbucks in the lobby. Location is the USP for this hotel

I stayed in a lovely renovated room. The JW Marriott brand is a great one! Would have rated 5 but hotels keep insisting on using the heavy quilts that are too hot. If there is a heavy quilt I want the room to be a chilly 61 degrees. The alternative is to sleep with a sheet only. That's not warm enough. The amenities in the room were top quality. Had extra USB ports at desk and bedside table.

Stayed here before. Great location. Centrally located in the heart of the city. Great bar & restaurants. Indoor swimming pool with hot tub open until 11pm. Work out facilities open 24 hrs. Pricey but worth it. Very modern & up to date technology. Room keys open with a chip . Elevators press the floor # & it tells you which elevator & automatically stops on your desired floor .

When you stay in one of the top level hotels of any hotel group, you hope for the best. J.W. Marriott, DC, we were short on our expectations. this guys make us feel great, from the Valet Parking guy, to the Bell Boy and the Front Desk Staff. We were treated like royalty. You can not get less than that. You pay more for the room, yes, but they pay you back with service.

What a disappointment. My husband and I have stayed in JWs all over the world - we make it a POINT to stay at JWs because we like them so much - and this is hands-down the worst experience we've had. Problems started when we checked in. No functioning card coding machine, so she had to hand code the room keys for us... Fine, no big deal, but then only one of them worked. And when you're checking in at 1:30am because you're flight was delayed and you have to be up early to work the next morning,... Read more

The front desk staff are friendly and helpful. The room is well appointed with well placed power points, which I love. Wifi was included in my room rate and worked fine. Our recent stay at the JWMDC was really pleasant. As many previous reviews have stated, it is centrally located to all the main tourist attractions. It seems that everything is literally within walking distance. If you plan on scouting out the city, make sure you have comfortable shoes! ;) The hotel is very modern chic. I stay at every brand of the Marriott family and this one is my current favorite. The rooms are beautiful and so nice i just wanted to stay in my room. The gym is spacious and the concierge lounge breakfast is the best I have found. At 14th and Pennsylvania, the location is ideal for business or family vacations. This was not my first stay at JW, but this trip sealed the deal for my favorite! However, the Mayflower Renaissance is very close.

I was there for 2 nights on business and really liked this hotel right from the entrance to the staff to the room itself. I had a corner room and it has connecting doors on each side to adjacent rooms. This is a luxury hotel with prices to match but if you are on vacation or business travel it is a great place to stay. We stayed three nights mid-week on a points stay in late June prior to moving to the Marriott Marquis for a convention. We asked La Quinta at the front desk for a view of the Washington monument. She said she had a partial view so I said that's fine. What she didn't say was that it was a suite, with a partial monument view! We stayed in June, at the time of a very noisy street fair going on in the street outside the hotel. I really wish I had been made aware of this at the time of booking, since I feel this is as relevant to a decision to stay as construction noise would be, and hotels normally inform guests of construction going on at their hotel. Anyway, when I complained to the manager Austin, he was very nice. He offered to either allow us to leave to go to another hotel with a full refund, or he would move ... Read more

Location was excellent. The staff was the best staff I have encountered of any JW I have been at. The room was typical JW Marriott (clean, modern, well appointed, etc.), but with a bit of extra space as we were at the end of the hall. The extra space was worth the walk, as we had four people in the room (parents + two teens). Overall, a good value, as the location was the best of any hotel we saw as we walked EVERYWHERE or easily get a cab when the location was a bit too far for a walk.

The best thing about this hotel is the downtown location. The National Mall is very nearby as are many federal office buildings. Literally, you are a 3 minute walk away from the White House. Even though it was right downtown, it was not noisy from the traffic the way New York hotels tend to be.

Stayed here for 4 nights over July 4th. Can not beat the location--2 blocks to White House, Smithsonian (American History) nice view of Washington Monument. The hotel is large, and very clean. The service is very good as well. Was disappointed with our view, an inner courtyard, though we did pay the advance rate, which, while relatively expensive, was not as expensive as I suppose the outside view rooms were. We enjoyed our stay and will likely be back again on our next excursion to DC.
