The hotel was what you would expect from any other holiday inn, clean, tidy and good services with a Starbucks and bar/grill. The staff were good but not excellent. The grill we went to down stairs was far too loud and we literally couldn't hear ourselves speak, I would definitely not recommend this bar.... All in all great hotel and enjoyable stay.

the hotel was nice and clean throughout. the fitness center is what you would expect from a hotel, has the essentials necessary for a quick workout. our room unfortunately faced the train tracks and we could hear the train horns as they passed by - if your coming from the country into the city for a visit this city experience may be a little alarming. we enjoyed the hotel restaurant and bar once. it was a little more pricey then i would have expected, but if you do a google search you'll see ... We've stayed here before and thoroughly enjoyed everything about it. This last time wasn't so great as we had a room facing the back of the hotel which faces a busy freight railroad that ran through the day and night. Also heard every word in the next room as the wall was not insulated as it meets the window. Plus, don't get a room near the elevator as that was very busy and noisy as well. We must have been sensitive to noise this time cause it seemed like we could hear every toilet flush in the... Read more

From the outside this place seems average almost a bit on the seedy side. Huge surprise when I entered. Large lobby and friendly staff. Modern and bright. The room, most comfortable and modern. Better then the average holiday inn. The cost....eeh could be better. Sadly every establishment in the DC area preys on tourists, so us others suffer. But....if looking for a great place to stay.....this is it. Conveniently close to most DC museums and attractions.....walking distance or a short ... Read more

Very convenient. Two blocks away from the main bus lines. We had passes for the old town bus line. They have bus drivers that give you details about what you are seeing very enjoyable and funny. We chose this hotel based on the recommendations of other members. The location of this hotel is very good. The hotel is at a walking distance from the Smithsonian Air and Space museum, which is one of the biggest attractions in DC. The rooms were spacious and neat - really liked the side sofa with a writing desk and a table light. There is a McD very close to the hotel and there are also couple of convenience stores to pick up some food and drinks. We also appreciate that the hotel allowed us ... Read more

The hotel is in a great location for work or vacationing, is clean, up to date and has a great front desk staff. The price is amazing for what you get and how close it is to all Dc attractions. Walking distance to many museums. The restaurant was pretty good and well priced. Their nachos are excellent, and I am from Texas where we take out TexMex seriously.

Great location and super people. Would definitely stay here on our next trip. Roof top pool location was a nice break. Walking distance to everything. Restaurants were both good. We learned after 2 days that there was a CVS and McDonalds just a block away also. Great place for cheaper supplies. We arrived early and were advised that we could have a room on the train side or wait. We took a chance and we were really not bothered by the train at all. We used this hotel as a base for our 4 day trip to DC and it was perfectly located. Very close to all the major attractions (2 blocks from the Air and Space Museum) so everything is readily walkable and there are always cabs outside the door, and Uber drivers abound should you need them. It is also 5 minutes walk from L'Enfant Plaza metro stop. You can't get much better. Of course, all that counts for nothing if the hotel is poor. If you want to stay at a location close to the areas that are around the Smithsonians, this is the place to stay. It was a little higher in price but we walked to almost everything we wanted to see and there is a shop there that has trolly stand for getting tickets for tours. This hotel is located close to the attractions we wanted to visit. The parking garage is in the same building. Staff was very helpful when we first arrived directing us to the parking garage and assisting with luggage. Much easier to stay here and walk to the National Mall than to stay somewhere on the outskirts of the city and have to deal with traffic. Also close to the Metro.

We have stayed here 4 or 5 times. You cannot beat the location if you want to be near the Mall and the Smithsonian. It is about a block away. It is a large hotel with a parking garage attached (although parking is about 40 dollars a day). We ended up having a very loud HVAC unit in our room and I mentioned it when we were checking out. We were given a generous room discount for the inconvenience which I was not expecting. We just wanted to let someone know so it could be fixed.

This holiday inn hotel looks good from inside (as compared to other IHG hotels). Seems newly renovated. Location is very good. All the museums, monuments are at walking distance (within ~1 mile). Things to be careful of: 1. Parking is $40. Seems a bit expensive to me, considering that I live in Cincinnati. 2. There's a rail road track next to the hotel. And trains keep running all the time. Avoid rooms on that side.

Being in the city, everything at this hotel was pretty pricey. The rooms were simple and met my needs, but nothing extravagant. Location worked for me. The Air and Space Museum is a very short walk away. Nice table in the lobby with a place to work and charge devices as you wait for an Uber or friend. Everything was clean. Sitting on the end of C Street, just up from some of the best of the Smithsonian Museums, this is also within a good walk of most of the sights in the National Mall. Also good access to the restaurants in the 7th Street NW area. My only complaint is the rail line between C and D Streets. For some reason the loco drivers have to sound the horn near the L'Enfant Plaza Station, no matter what time of day or night. Not the hotel's fault, I know, but it does take a notch out of Excellent.

This is a nice Holiday Inn - a bit more upscale than others in the chain. I've stayed here several times, primarily because of its convenience to the Capitol area. Which brings up a few things about location. First, it's extremely convenient to the Mall, etc. As such, it draws lots of tourists, which means there's almost always a wait for any of the hotel's three elevators - and they are often packed. Second point about location: It's located in a government area, so other than a couple of fast-... Read more

It's a typical Holiday Inn. Rooms are nice, very clean and has some places to eat and drink. If you have to stay in this area of DC I would recommend it over the Mandarin. It's extremely close to the metro, which is your gateway to the city. Nothing bad to say here!

The hotel is in a perfect spot if you want to site see along the National Mall, being 2 blocks from the Air & Space Museum, about the same from the Smithsonian Castle, and around the corner from a Metro station. There's a Starbucks in the corner of the hotel, and a convenience store as well for the little things you forgot. During our visit, there was a conference and people from that conference had set up tables in the lobby. That would have been ok, but there was literally no way to get THR... Read more

Enjoyed this property. The pool was nice. I agree with other reviewers that the air conditioning unit was quite loud. We were on the train-side of the hotel and it can get pretty loud on weekday mornings during the rush-hour commute. The hotel is very close to the mall and the Air and Space Museum. The other thing I would mention is that while the location to the mall and museums is nice, there are limited dining options in the area. Been coming here the past few years with my family to visit museums. We love the new renovated rooms. Great value for money. Primary reason I pick this place is location to museums. Can't beat it. Only thing I don't like is the tight parking spaces in the basement. Hard to fit in the slot especially if you have an SUV.

Took a few days to visit the area and take in museum, monuments, National Zoo, etc. Everything and the Holiday Inn was fine. Billing system is a little confusing but came out correct when we checked out. Most of the staff were very personable. Concierge/security were very helpful. Rooms clean and modern. Location to museums and National Mall are within walking distance. Drawback is that there a not restaurants within a reasonable distance unless you take a cab or bus. They do have a restaurant ... The location, a couple of minutes from Smithsonian Museums, was excellent. The welcome that we received from reception staff was humourless and terse, in sharp contrast to the norm we found in America. Other reviewers have praised the welcoming nature of the reception staff so it obviously depends on the staff on duty on the day. We ate one time in the restaurant - which at best could be described as ordinary! To be fair the staff on duty for our checkout were fine. It is sometimes very diffic... Read more

Great hotel in downtown. Easy walking distance to so many attractions. Everyone was friendly, the room was great, the bed very comfortable. The hotel and room are very clean and well maintained. The bar and restaurant was outstanding, great conversations with the staff. The breakfast in the Capital Bistro was great. 5 star review all the way around. I'll gladly stay here again.

The Holiday Inn was only two blocks from the Air and Space Museum. It only cost $20 to get a taxi from the Reagan Airport to the hotel. We never rented a car -- we walked to all of the sites. The room was clean and the hotel was safe. There were two restaurants in the hotel and a Starbucks connected to it. There was a lovely outdoor area for us to enjoy our Starbucks breakfast. Staff was great about holding our bags after we checked out so we could enjoy one final day seeing the sites.

The location is what sold me. It was our first trip to Washington DC and we wanted to see as much as possible. The hotel is in walking distance of several major museums, but if your destination is a little farther, or you don't want to walk, there's a continuous line of cabs at the front. Also, a "Hop on, Hop off" bus stop complete with ticket sales is located in front of the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum about a block and a half away. Very convenient! I was greeted by wall scrapes upon opening the door. It's of great convenience to have a microwave and refrigerator - a nice plus. There is a Starbucks connected to the hotel and a snack kiosk (in the morning) on the main level near the restaurant. The steak tacos in the grill were uninspired and the sauce on top looked questionable, even though the taste was okay. I suggest the kitchen leave sauces on the side. The buffet breakfast in the restaurant is a little pricey, but does include a ... Read more

Besides the location, the hotel is clean and up to date. The rooms are spacious with large granite vanities in the bathroom. The staff was very attentive. The hotel staff is very nice and works hard to alleviate any issues. There is a Starbucks in the lobby and their bar is a destination point for locals due to the live music and outdoor patio. My girlfriend and I stayed in this hotel for two nights. The water pressure was up and down, we couldn't get a microwave in the room. When we left my girlfriend complained that her head was itching. About that time she started finding lice bugs in her hair. I keep a shaved head and was lucky not to catch anything.

We recently stayed here 11/2-11/8/16. We had a room on the fifth floor facing the courtyard. It was nice and quiet. The housekeeping was great. They were very thorough. The ventilation in the room was outrageously noisy, especially the a/c (which is activated if you lower the thermostat even a single degree).
