The hotel and rooms are tired and could use an uplifting. It even has an odor of being old. The rooms are small and the bathrooms are very small. I describe the bathrooms as being smaller than my guest bath at home and I have a small home. The room furniture is worn and torn in some parts. Not good at all.

This hotel has a great location on 15th & Rhode Island, about a 15 minute walk to the White House, Washington Monument and Mall. Mc Pherson Metro located on 14th street and DCA about 20 mins approx $25.00 in a taxi. Rooms were comfortable and spacious bathroom a little on the small side they have a restaurant that serves either Buffet or A la Carte as well as a bar with an outdoor area great space to entertain our relatives who were visiting.

I love the location of this hotel but the facility is old and run down. It is past time for down updating. I have often stayed here during business trips because it is so close to the offices where I sometimes work. However the hotel has gotten more and more shabby over the years. This last week my toilet ran on-and-off all night and each time it came on it would make a loud glunking sound. Needless to say I got little sleep while on this business trip.

I stayed here two nights-very convenient location, especially to the White House. They have friendly, courteous staff and generally, a comfortable room. Always love the chocolate chip cookies at check in from Doubletree. The carpets are dingy and worn, though, which made me want to keep my shoes on the entire time.

Friendly, knowledgable staff. Clean hotel. Food was surprisingly good for hotel. Location was great for the wedding but also walking distance to White House, National Mall - if you are a walker, about 2 miles. We found 3 great restaurants a couple blocks from hotel: the Pig, Logan's Tavern and The Commissary.

My 2 nights stay was good. Staff is very helpful but Catering people are rude. It is near to almost all the attraction points and you can walk to places. If you want a basic hotel without pool then it is a good choice.

Had the opportunity to stay four nights at the Double Tree Hilton in Washington, DC. I picked it for it's proximity to St. Matthew's Cathedral. I was an easy walk every day for morning Mass. We also used cabs frequently--which were waiting immediately outside the hotel to get to museums and memorials. Staff was incredible, rooms were clean, breakfast was excellent--a trulyu wonderful experience

I was extremely excited to celebrate my birthday in the city. I love Hilton hotels so there was not question where I would stay. I chose this hotel for is location, it was centrally located to every place I needed to go. Upon arrival the staff was warm and friendly offering me those delicious cookies. I had several problems with my room, however the staff worked hard to correct the problem to make my stay enjoyable. The entire staff from the front desk, house keeping, to the kitchen were f... Had a large block of rooms and arrived at 3:00pm. Still was not able to check into any of the rooms until 4:30pm. As it turns out housekeeping typically doesn't get around to cleaning the rooms until 4:00pm each day (if at all). During two days of my stay the room had not been cleaned after being gone for the day for 10 hours. Dirty towels were left in my room upon check in as well. Rooms were dated and cramped.

Location of Hotel for the price paid it was OK. Inability to reserve the rooms online as offered not good, when arrived at hotel we were given room locations in noisy spot facing the back of the hotel where the garbage dumpters are located and we were awaken by the loud noise from the garbage trucks early in the morning. Need extra help in the lobby in high traffic hours. Good breakfast served at the restaurant.

Well, one morning the shower curtain was missing---not sure why they would have removed but gone it was. The bathrooms are very small but your in a good location. Wakeup call came every day, even though none was scheduled--system wouldn't allow me to delete. Phone wouldn't dial front desk....Saw a few bugs in the room, although nothing like bed bugs. Not my favorite place to stay.

This is an older hotel in need of updates in the guest rooms. This is keeping in line with other Doubletree properties I have stayed at. The staff is friendly, the lobby is nice and the breakfast buffet is a great value and very good. The rooms leave a lot to be desired especially for the price. The desk chair in our room was worn to the point of the faux leather flaking off , the furniture is old and the bathroom and tub is very small. The tub had a rubber drain stopper.

I got a suite (but not the one I booked) and the furniture was old and smelly and the carpet was gross. There are much better junior suites available in the market at better prices. The parking is a complete rip-off. It's even more expensive than they claim because they add $8 in taxes. Other parking facilities include taxes in the daily rate.

Everything about this hotel looked a little faded and tired, however the location only 15 minute walk to The White house is a bonus. staff are helpful and bedrooms are adequate but the TVs are on the old side and barely worked with a remote. We decided to eat in the hotel on the first evening. The restaurant / bar is not very welcoming and the food served from the bar menu was average and over fried. This is primarily a residential area so a bit limited for bars restaurants close to the hotel.

Staff and hotel lobby as well as location were excellent. However, the ventilation system was so loud I was completely unable to sleep. This was not the climate control that you can manage in the room but a separate system that ran all night and caused the whole room to vibrate. My room was on the top floor, so maybe it's a rooftop system? I don't know, but it was impossible to sleep.

I was very pleased with this Doubletree for my solo half business/half sightseeing trip. The bed was comfortable, and I liked the feather pillows, which were there without my asking. The WiFi and the AC worked, there was plenty of hot water for the shower, and there was a reasonable selection of TV channels. I wish that the room had a mini-fridge, especially with the hot weather in DC. For work purposes, the desk chair was comfortable, the room lighting was good, and the business center made it ... The hotel is a tremendous value. The staff was like staying with a happy fmaily and the food was good especially the breafast. You can't find a better location. A cab ride to any of the sites was about ten dollars in a clean cab and the driver knew the loccatins of every place we asked to go. The only lapse was you could not order movies on the room TV?

I have stayed in this hotel before, but on this trip, my room was very oddly shaped and quite small. It was not as clean as it could have been but this was a holiday weekend. Nevertheless, the beds and linens were heavenly and I slept well. I would recommend.

The hotel is located in a very nice area with many restaurants nearby on 14th St. We were given a diamond upgrade to a large junior suite which also had a very large bathroom. Our room had a living and dining area as well as a separate bedroom with king bed. Made use of the bar at happy hour with reduced prices on food and drinks. Valet parking was quick. Staff was very friendly. Would definitely stay at this hotel again. The price was right as well.

Stayed a night while passing trough town on business. Was greeted nicely by friendly staff. Room was quiet and nice but the bathrooms are as others have noted quite small. But being accustomed to european and asian sizes, I don't mind. Breakfast was decent enough and well worthy of the "Hilton standard".

Overall I enjoyed my stay but with a few issues. I used the digital check-in which was nice but did not get the room I requested. The room was adequate but small and the bathroom was tiny. Very friendly staff and good location.

Our room supplies were not replenished. Not a big deal if it were just a coffee cup and tea bag. However, there was no toilet paper left. We asked for some at the front desk in the morning and were told "it will be right up." I mentioned it was needed quickly. I waited for 5 minutes and called on the phone. Front desk offered apologies and said she would bring it up. Ten minutes later I called again and finally it arrived. At breakfast I requested oatmeal and gave them an apple I had bought tha... Staying here for a few days right now, eating in the restaurant quite a lot and had room service once. All really great. Good gluten free options too. Only a short walk to the centre of town and a really nice place to relax and unwind after work. Great coffee machine in rooms too.... Excellent!

My wife and I visited Washington for the first time due to running a half marathon there. We checked into DoubleTree and was given very detailed explanation of how to get around, great recommendations of restaurants and suggestions of museums to visit by the wonderful front desk staff, Nazifa and Ryan. They were very helpful throughout our stay and whenever we had any questions, they were there to help us and made our stay a wonderful experience. The room was very nice and clean and the restau... We stayed for 2 nights. Room had a dirty dog smell. Room was not serviced even though we made two requests. Steak at dinner was inedible. Was virtually raw and had gristle or sinews throughout so could not be cut with the knife provided. Never again! This accommodation was part of a Princess Cruises tour....they should take it off the list!

We were in DC for a wedding and this was one of the hotels. The hotel was in great location, central to many things. The staff was excellent, always helpful and extremely friendly. Rooms are a bit dated, but ours was clean and bed was comfortable. We brought our bikes and the staff was very helpful with all aspects of this. FYI 15th street has a bike lane which allows easy access to white house and mall and beyond.

Let me start by saying I have stayed in a lot of hotels. On just this trip we drove from California to New York and back, 2 weeks, a different hotel every night. The DoubleTree in DC had hands down the best customer service I have ever encountered in all my travels. I do not know what they put in the water there, but everyone we talked to or even passed by was so nice! The hotel itself was very lovely. It was in a nice location and had a great breakfast in the morning. But really the peopl... Read more

Tripadvisor, why don't you consider half circles? I rated it 3, but it was a 3.5. Making it a good hotel. (3 is average and 4 is very good). We had a room facing Rhode Island Ave (an even number). The view was nice. Like other reviewers stated, the bathroom is small...more like tight. Toilet right next to tub. I could sit on the toilet and soak my feet in the tub at the same time. The bed was comfortable but the comforter had a stain on it. Don't know how that was missed. It must have be... Read more

The initial appearance of the lobby and staff were what one would initially expect of a higher level Hilton brand. However, I was disappointed the entire 4.5 day stay with the lack of hospitable service from the dining staff, eagerness to get paid/tipped but not provide friendly service, and the lack of actual cleaning in the guest room. Cracker crumbs and a plastic shard of something unidentifiable were found in the bed, and after being placed on the nightstand were never taken away. The floors... Read more

Exterior and lobby were fine, and staff were adequately friendly and efficient. However, the condition of the room was lacking. The desk chair was beyond peeling; the bathtub was peeling and missing a stopper; and I had to wipe the remote control before using (as it was pretty filthy). AC/Heat unit was loud also.

We stayed for a weekend to attend an event at the Smithsonian NMAAHC. We were pleased that the room was clean and stocked with necessities. Service was prompt and courteous. My only complaint was the size of the bathroom. The lighting was too low to see well in the small mirror and it was just too small for two people to get ready for an evening out. Would we stay at this hotel again? It would be on our short list but not our first consideration.

Bitten by bed bugs several times during just one night...although the food and general service is OK. I think the Staff shall at least remind guests of the bed bugs, otherwise it would be absolutely a disaster for guests like me who are sensitive to bed bugs.

This hotel is nested in what seems to be a residential neighborhood, which is nice, but it's not - it's in walking distance to downtown and other local areas. The hotel rooms were nice and spacious and clean. I loved that the windows opened - so nice because hotel windows rarely open. I enjoyed the friendliness of the staff. Stayed here for 2 nights and the best I can say is I got a upgraded room upon checkin and the food at the restaurant on site is ok. Now for the disappointment, the hotel only does valet parking which is over $50 a night or you can do street parking and pray your vehicle don't get towed etc. The restaurant onsite does happy hour and it gets really loud with people going in and out of the lobby to the restaurant. My work sends me to this hotel every couple of years. On this visit, I enjoyed the same great service that I have come to expect from past visits. I had the opportunity to speak with several persons in management during my 5 night stay.... because the managers seem to be out and about in the public spaces of the hotel, rather than hidden away in the back office. This is probably one of the reasons for the good service! Part of my stay included a conference at the hotel. The conference meals... Read more
