"This was one of my worst stays ever since I started using bookit. This hotel is nasty in every sense. The location is horrible if you're looking to have a great experience in DC. The pictures do not reflect the true state of this facility. its dilapidated, rooms are dirty and not kept up. Bathrooms are not well kept and more importantly there is zero customer service. ask for toothpaste and see if they have it, try using your credit card in the gift store and see if they will take it. Don't even go in the parking garage lest you run into some real weird people. This hotel is in a bad location, taxi drivers will recommend for you not to take any walks after 6pm."

"Perfectly serviceable hotel. Decent room, a little cramped (by US standards) but clean, reasonably comfortable. Few amenities in the room and no coffeemaker. Restaurant/coffee shop opens at 6:30 am. Hot water for tea/instant coffee available free in the lobby. Staff was nice enough. About a 10-minute walk to a metro stop. However, there is not much close by (other than a McDonalds), and this area is still a little isolated and feels sketchy at night. No problems at all with checking in, and I made my reservation only a few days in advance."

"I am a 24 year old female and my girlfriend and I wanted to get away for the weekend- at a cost effective price. We stayed at the Skyline hotel which was good for a night. Parking was convenient they had everything we needed but I would not stay here for more than a night out on the town. This would not be a good 'honeymoon' spot. Definitely has a great staff, nice atmosphere, but a little dated. I will stay again!"

"I checked in late Mon 3 Dec/12 very worried because I had No Credit Card or cash! Visa Card/WALLET LOST in NY previous day..On arrival I FOUND VISA ALREADY PHONED reception TO CONFIRM MY BOOKING BEFORE SENDING emergency replacement card. ORLANDRO , RECEPTIONIST, did everything possible to assist with overcoming this problem. Even if this was not the case , I would have to say CAPITOL SKYLINE was the BEST 3 Star after staying at similar rated Hotels in 3 months touring in 4 countries !The overall experience was more like a 4 Star .
Night duty Receptionist patiently guided me to a Waterfront (nearby) Seafood Restaurant where I had the best Seafood dinner I had in USA.
As a design Consultant I found the Lobby Decor outstanding ! Breakfasts from the buffet was adequate and priced economically.I could not fault the Hotels facilities or my comfortable extra soft King Sized Bed. .
they rang my room the morning of my checkout ,on her day off, to wish me well with my ongoing travels. I am 80 year old and travel a lot around the World.I know the difference between a GOOD Hotel and an ordinary Hotel."

The Smithsonian is within 20 minute walking distance and the supermarket and CVS are within walking distance. I used the exercise room and the equipment is state of the art. Surprisingly with the police and fire station outside my window (419), I slept like a lamb both nights."

"Stayed at the Capitol Skyline Hotel. First I got in on the 12-12-12 deals so I got an incredible rate. The staff member I dealt with was awesome. Because they did not have a room with a king bed for my wife and I, he gave us a room with the 2 queens but with a better view, facing the US capitol;the view was impressive. He also comp'd my parking because of the king bed issue, which was $25 in savings. I wish we could have stayed longer than a night to enjoy the hotel and the city."

"This hotel turned out to be a wonderful find. We got an excellent rate booking online! that included continental breakfast each morning and parking. The free-parking alone makes a huge difference if you're traveling to DC by car.
The free breakfast is charged at exactly what it's worth - FREE. If they don't include the breakfast don't waste your $4 - walk across the street to McDonald's for some real food. Their offerings were very meager and the restaurant was a complete mess. The 'manager' in a shirt and tie, but no coat spends his time playing with his smartphone and asks irritated if you ask him about items that have run out on the breakfast buffet. They leave dirty dishes on all of the tables and do not clear them as guests finish eating, but only when a new guest comes down to eat so the tables are all covered with dirty dishes and the restaurant looks a mess.
Only other complaint is that they did not provide housekeeping service on Christmas day and we were not notified in advance.
Overall they are running a top-rate hotel at cut rate prices. The Garage is underground and secure, the rooms are VERY nice, the beds seem new and comfortable the room is very cleaned and professionally cleaned daily in the style of a much more expensive hotel and the views of the Capitol building from your room are wonderful. Would definitely stay again. If this property could fine tune a few things I think their ratings would go WAY up."

"The hotel room was very comfortable especially the bed. The location of the hotel was not very conveinient for site seeing. Spent much money on cabs and metro. There was no direct metro stop or bus stop from hotel to anywhere. If you missed the hotel shuttle which we did, unaware they sometimes leave earlier you have to take a cab. No help with luggage, had to go to lobby to retrive luggage cart use and then return too much drama for me. Also, the retaurant did not have a varity of food you had to purchase what they offered which was not a large selection. But all in all everyone was nice and the hotel itself was quite appealing, dispute the outside of the hotel.

"My husband and I were very pleased with everything the Capitol Skyline Hotel had to offer. We arrived about three hours before check in and had no problems putting our bags in the room before we headed Downtown. The staff was very friendly and professional. My husband enjoyed the option of getting coffee to go from the restaurant each morning. There was ample parking in the garage under the hotel, which was safe and locked. The shuttle provided transportation to the National Mall in the morning and also around dinner time. We recommend this hotel to anyone who needs a hotel just for sleeping purposes. The distance from downtown did require a cab at night, but it also made the hotel affordable for a young couple."

"We have stayed at this hotel prior. However, we arrived at 3pm and was advised we could not check in until 4pm. Other people arrived after us and were checked in immediately. When we asked why, we were simply told 'our room was not ready'. The Staff was not friendly and appeared to be annoyed with us.
We wanted to make a purchase and was sent to 7-eleven, 3 blocks away, only to find out, there was a store in the hotel where we could have made the same purchase."

"We stayed with our youngest daughter for 3 nights on a trip from England.
Immediate area is not nice but:-
1 We had a car so it didn't bother us. All day parking in DC only $13 at weekends/$23 weekdays.
2 We drove quite a bit around DC and it seems that rough looking areas seem to be the general theme wherever you stay. Even where the really posh, expensive hotels are sited.
We had underground parking included which is worth a lot of $$'s in any capital city.
We really couldn't find any fault with the hotel when weighed up with the price.
But if there was one thing I would introduce it would be a breakfast buffet for $9.99!!

"The lobby was nice and bright and it was nice to have a store and pool onsite. Parking was supposed to be vallet but was actually self park. It seemed to be quite a walk to the city centre sl we ended up taking the Metro. The hotel staff didn't provide anybdirections to the Metro or info on public transportation, but it costs about $3 each way on the metro which adds up for a family. No coffee maker in room, but they did leave 2 bottles of water with a$4.50 price tag on each. Pool towels were also 'rented for$3 each which seems kind of ridiculous to me. The windows were very poor at protecting against noise especially at night, and heard a lot of traffic, fire engines, police etc, the room was clean and we had plenty of space but not in the best neighborhood."

"This hotel was a nice, clean and friendly hotel. It's a 15 minute walk to the Capitol and you can easily take the subway to other places like Chinatown. The complimentary shuttle to downtown DC is really nice. Would be fantastic if they had a return to hotel complimentary shuttle.
There are no restaurants or anything to eat around expect a McDonalds.
Only two complaints: We left a possession in the room after checkout. When I called and told the staff exactly where I left it, they said they would go look and get back to me within 10 mins. 45 mins later, no call. We drove back to the hotel and was told it wasn't there. I asked to if I could go back to room to check. They escorted to room where I found it exactly where I said it was. Upon retrieving it, we also found other items that didn't belong to us. So it is safe to say that housekeeping does not clean under the beds.

The pool party isn't for everyone and is not family oriented. The music isn't diverse. It is cultural and loud. We were glad when it ended promptly at 10pm.
But overall, the hotel is very nice. The front desk staff is very courteous and efficient. We would definitely stay again.

"My wife and I are asking that we be refunded our entire fee for booking this hotel.
The hotel is located in the slums of D.C.
This was a very dangerous location. We did not feel comfortable staying at this hotel with our small children.
This was the worst place we have ever stayed.
The hotel was very old dirty and unpleasant.
We stayed the first night because we had no where else to go.
We then checked out after the first night and stayed somewhere else.
When traveling with children we have to be very careful about the places we choose to stay. When we saw that this place had 3 out of 4 stars we assumed it would be a nice place to stay, but that was far from the truth.
When we arrived and saw the condition of this place my wife checked another web-site on her phone and saw that the Capitol Skyline Hotel had been rated on another site with only 10 out of 30 stars."

"This hotel was a nice,clean and friendly hotel. It's not the fanciest place in DC but its a nice quiet place to stay. It's a 15 minute walk to the Capitol and you can easily take the subway to other places like Chinatown. The stadium is a 5minute walk as well.
There are no restaurants or anything to eat around expect a Mc Donalds and a 7 11, but other than that the Pool was amazing and everything was great for a nice weekend in DC.
I was having a headache and asked the front desk at 3 am if they had anything and the front desk was nice enough to give me some medicine for free!

"It was perfect location for our stay. We saw a play at the Arena Stage and watched the Nationals game. Both a few blocks away. We didn't have to worry about traffic and parking because we biked around. The city is bike friendly. They have bike racks every where to secure the bikes and bike routes too! Very convenient!

"the hotel was clean but nothing special.
the day staff were helpful but the evening staff were almost rude.
They say they have a shuttle to local attractions but what they don't tell you is that it only runs at certain times and that it only takes you to attractions in certain areas and you have to find your own way back to the hotel. They also have a pool party on weekend nights which is very loud, so loud you can hear the music several blocks away and it appears to draw alot of young people from the area who mingle out in front of the hotel . We had a nice rate for the room but next time I would rather pay a little more and get a better place to stay."

"shuttle runs until 10:30am and starts again at 5pm . not great if you are checking out at noon . bed was rather concaved. i had the $99 rate would have been very disappointed if i had to pay the full rate . it is 4 block walk to the metro which for me was not to bad .. when they say 4pm check in they mean it.."

"This was exactly what we needed. The hotel itself was very clean and the staff was some of the nicest and most helpful that I have run into lately. I travel all over for work but this was a hotel I picked for value and location while planning my family vacation.
