Great hotel if you are interested in walking to the museums and monuments. The staff is top-notch. They had cold water ready for us after we walked around on a hot day. The gentleman checking us in was SO patient with explaining how to use the mobile key. The valets were so friendly! The rooms are roomy and up-to-date. The proximity to restaurants and tourist spots can't be beat!

While it may not be as monumental as the Marriott Marque in DC, the place certainly makes up for it in class. It was a last minute booking and I was pleasantly surprised for all that I found. Come sunrise, when I was able to look out and see they were demolishing a building on the side, I would have never known as it was almost too quite inside. I didn't have to wait for an elevator as is the case in some places, and meeting with clients in the lobby area, I truly appreciated the swag they ke... Read more

While at the Capital Hilton in DC, I so appreciated Theresa's assistance at the front desk and was delighted that Ms. Alma and her team made things so comfy and nice in the Executive Lounge. The food was great (shrimp! bacon! YES) and the service superb.

Hilton is a superb brand. This stay missed the mark in one key area. While I was promised Honors benefits, I was never informed of them. That led to a 22.00 Continental breakfast. Not a good value at all.

The experience was ok for me. I expected more from a hotel with such high "prestige". Basic amenities, such as a fridge and microwave were not in the room. One of the waiters was very rude. The parking is absolutely atrocious and the parking garages for overnight stays are high, yes DC tends to be expensive. Luckily I found one with a half decent rate after driving around for 2 hours. i would suggest going to another hotel. Hilton is usually pretty good, this one I cannot say the same.

I have been a regular visitor to the Capital Hilton for a decade or more. Its charm, apart from its location near the White House and other heritage places, was its old worldly feel. Further, the staff and senior managers in earlier years really made you feel at home and went out of the way to provide amenities and services which compensated for the dated look of the rooms and poor facilities. But this week-long visit was disappointing. I found the housekeeping service very poor this time and it... Read more

I can't say enough about the staff at this Hilton. Each member I interacted with treated me like their most valued customer. Everyone delivered a superior level of service including Theresa who checked me in, Yiford and Andre the Bellmen and the waitress in the restaurant who's been there 38 years. My room was large, clean and comfortable and as other reviewers have pointed out, the location can't be beat. But it's the staff that distinguishes the Capital Hilton. This was our first time at the Capital Hilton and it was a very nice stay. We arrived at the front and there were many people at the valet stand directing vehicles to expedite check in. There was a small line at check in but the concierge was not doing anything at the time so he helped check me in. The lobby was clean modern and looked very clean. There was cold water and lemon water on a stand but there should have been a trash receptacle beside as well because some guests left their used cups ... Read more

There was no restaurant for dinner in the hotel and the room service food was too salty, too spicy and too pricey. The room service menu was too limited, as well. But it's way too expensive - even for room service.

My husband and I took a very early morning flight to D.C. and arrived at this hotel around 8am. We expected to leave our bags with the concierge and be on our way to see the sights, but were very pleasantly surprised to find out there was a room available for us. Not only were we able to check in very early, but the staff gave us an upgrade to the executive lounge allowing us to grab a coffee and breakfast before we headed out to explore the city. Everyone here bends over backwards to make sure you are having a good time and you have everything you need - especially the wonderful gentlemen who checked us in - Darnell. We grabbed a room to show the family around DC and Capital Hilton was perfect. Clean rooms, decent prices and the staff were very nice. Only issue we had was the INSANE cost of Valet Parking. $56 was very steep. Would go back, but wouldn't take my car.

The Capital Hilton is in a very good location. Only a 5 minute walk to the White House and lots of restaurants and shops around. The rooms are nice and the beds comfortable. The staff are very friendly. The only problem is there is no free internet in the rooms. Just the lobby. Find this a pain.

I had the pleasure of staying at the Capital Hilton from May 25 - 29. The hotel exceeded my expectations. It was at a excellent location, 2 blocks from the White House and in a nice area. I don't like leaving a one-star review, but this hotel deserves it. I had read reviews left by others, so I knew that the Capital Hilton routinely overcharges guests, but I was positive that I could avoid a problem by going over our bill before we checked out. Although the hotel is dated, valet parking is expensive, there is no pool and the fitness center is $15 per day. The location and friendly staff more than won me over. Everyone was helpful and very courteous. There was some confusion over my parking charges at checkout. The lady at the front desk listened to my explanation and immediately removed the charges, no questions asked. In this age of mistrust this was definitely a WOW moment!!!

I booked this hotel because it is listed as having a well equipped gym. However, I discovered that it has highly restrictive hours. The staff were unwilling to help find an alternative or to guide me as to where to find a gym with sensible hours. The were rude, unhelpful, and useless. I would not stay here again. I would not recommend other people stay here.

Picked this hotel for the package. Great to not worry about parking in Washington DC. Parking and Breakfast included for the price of just a room at other local hotels. Valet service was terrible when arrived. Wasn't sure what to do, didn't help with luggage or anything at all. Desk service was great when arriving and leaving. Staff was great and hotel was nice. I have only two gripes. One the workout center. If is attached to the hotel, but a separate company, you have to pay $15 a day to use it!!!! The store in the hotel was inconsistent in hours. Three out of four mornings it was not open or the person was "out". When I inquired at the front desk ( I needed a newspaper), they told me to go to the CVS ( also out of papers)! Overall a good experience though.

The service provided by the Capital Hilton was excellent from start to finish. From the moment I was greeted at the door, to the moment I stepped into my cab for the airport, I was treated like a queen. It is always a pleasure to come back to this hotel. The staff are friendly and welcoming and the rooms are spacious. Its close proximity to The White House (two blocks down 16th Street) and therefore Museums and Monuments on The National Mall, make this a perfect place to be based. I only awarded 4/5 because we did not use the restaurants, though room service food was excellent. Front door staff always give you a welcome when you arrive back at the hotel from your day out.

This hotel is centrally located, and great if location is what you're looking for. Overall, regarding quality and service, based on the price, it's just average. Basic amenities are not included. If you want Wi-Fi access, they text you a code, as if it were a classified service. If you want to use the gym and you're not a Hilton Honors member, it's $15 per person. If you'd like breakfast in the hotel, it's $27 per person. We don't mind paying a higher cost for the location, but basic amenities a... Read more

We recently were in DC attending a wedding and booked our stay at the Capital Hilton. The wedding was at the St. Regis, just south of the Hilton, but the cost was significantly more to stay there, and the Hilton was only a two-minute walk away. We were very happy with our choice. The staff was extremely friendly and courteous, and the room was clean, spacious and comfortable. The location is also great -- you are only a couple blocks north of the White House. Here are the positives of the Capital Hilton. Easy walking distance to the White House (in case you have an appointment with the President, for example) as the hotel is on the same street that juts straight away from the front of the White House, 16th Street. The hotel is close to multiple metro sites, including two that are on the Blue Line that runs directly to or from (Reagan) National Airport, very convenient (the McPherson Square stop is probably closest). The hotel is in a fantastic location, very close to the White House and other places you might want to visit when here, which is very handy. While there were several issues I had with my room, the staff did an ok job of trying to address them. Tub drain was unclogged, light over tub fixed, panel reattached to cabinet. What wasn't fixed was a soaked carpet. There was some attitude when I also called down to have my coffee reset as it wasn't refreshed the next day, and they forgot to bring cups. Overall, I felt the price of the hotel wasn't really worth the service or quality I received.

There is no better location than this. Right at the corner of K and 16th. The White House is in view, and if you have an appointment or dinner in NW this is a perfect place. The dining options might be better, but there are plenty of good restaurants just out the door.
