This huge property had no Freon which was the problem according to maintenance. They wanted to move me at 9:00 at night but I was too tired and leaving the next morning. So they brought me a complementary breakfast coupon....I never eat breakfast outside of my room. I was offered HH points when I checked out for the inconvenience but have heard nothing. Instead a form letter from the general manager which I responded to and a survey. Very disappointed in my stay.

We are a group of volunteer master gardeners who organized a fun-filled gardening tour of beautiful gardens in Delaware Valley and the Philadelphia area for 51 people. Our stay started off with a bit of a wrinkle because of a malfunction in some of the hotel's equipment, and a couple of other little kinks during the stay. However, the General Manager, has gone above and beyond what one would expect to make things right for our group. The hotel is in a great location for restaurants and shoppin... Read more

Found out as I checked in that the pool was broken, convienent on Memorial Day weekend. Tried to get passes to the Y up the road, but they closed at 8 Sat night. My girls could not swim and its all I heard about for 2 days. At $204 a night, you'd think the hotel would be fully functional. Told they would throw in pizza one night for our group, and that became Friday and saturday only when we asked to do it Sunday. Asked about a discount and was told, sorry. When visiting friends in the Wilmington DE area, we've usually stayed at another national chain along Concord Pike. This year, with Memorial Day and graduations, they were full, and checking options, we chose DoubleTree because rates were good. We were looking forward to staying since our past experience at other DoubleTree locations was that it was a rather high-end chain. Sorry but I don't care how nice this hotel is on the inside - I wasn't willing to get out of my car. Not sure why other reviews don't mention that this is a very poor location in the city. Not sure what other people are doing for the evening but I wouldn't be willing to walk around here. The front entrance is strange too. Not easy to pull in and valet and I saw the valet racing a car away to park - I ended up leaving. Lost money on this but better safe than sorry.

Stayed for a night on business. Room was clean and had everything needed. Gym was smaller but had enough equipment to get a nice workout in. Nice indoor pool and hot tub so bring your suit. Desk was helpful. Shuttle to nearby businesses was great no need to taxi for me. Didn't eat and restaurant was quiet though it was a Sunday night, but there were several having a bite and drink and watching tv. Worked well for an in and out business trip. Mall, Best Buy, Barnes and Noble and Target n... Read more

This is my second visit to this hotel. The hotel keeps the same but the personnel is very attentive. The hotel is ok for long stays it was renovated. the rooms are not super big but with enough space and all necessary. Choose the room to the back of the hotel to avoid noise in the morning of the 202 but this is not a big deal any way. There is a small mall next to the property and some chain restaurants across the 202. This is the standard for a DoubleTree so no surprises at all. I will be in ... Read more

This is the fourth hotel I stayed in this week. It was the one with which I was least impressed. Arrived around 8PM. Locating the front of the hotel was based on a good guess. There was some sort of construction going on, so I just pulled up near the curb and went inside to check in. Parking was actually around the corner and under the building. No signs near the front of the hotel though. The area was pretty much a ghost town at that time of night and I was reluctant to venture out so at... Read more

30 rooms were provided for out of town guests. The wedding was at another venue. The hotel made sure everyone was comfortable and had what they needed. The only minor complaint was there were no cookies when we arrived! Brunch was provided the morning after for 50 of our guests and the staff and food were amazing. I would recommened this hotel to out of state friends and family. We live 10 minutes away and still chose to stay.

There was a loud band playing at night until midnight and it was loud and you could feel the vibrations thumping from the band. If you stay here make sure you are not on the second floor near the rear. Room lighting was poor. All other services were good...but very noisy on weekends. Beware!

The room constantly smelled of cooking food from the kitchen. Sound from the HVAC units not condusive to a good night's sleep. Swithed rooms to no avail. Toilet paper fixture haning off wall and power outlet near sink not secure. General TLC needed for the room. Elevators SMELLED and need an overall. Turned a 5 night stay into 2 and moved hotels. Yuck.

No usb plugs on the desk light base. My usb bricks would not fit unless I put a few blocks of soap under the lamp to raise it off the desk so the chargers would plug in. Not pretty Oh..one more thing... the air conditioner/heating unit was tough to control. Either too cold or too hot. We ended up putting pillow over the wall unit.

Not great service would I stay again no , staff on front desk very rude eating and humming to herself the whole time she was checking us out sorting out a problem she had created , then telling me not to get so cross after she had swiped my credit card a least 6 times saying the computer is not working 25 mins to check out is a joke .

The hotel in Wilmington, Delaware was spotless, you could eat off the floors. The employees could not do enough for you. Very welcoming and always greet you with a smile. I have stayed here at least a dozen times in the last few years and look forward to visiting again.

Stayed here for 4 days while visiting du Pont sights (great!). Hotel was tired, only 2 lifts for over 700 guests and 1 broke during our stay. Room clean but shower badly designed, curved rail couldn't hold the curtain so water went on floor. Bed a bit soft but pillows fine. Front desk were nonchalant and unfriendly but gave us a better room when we asked for one. Still noisy over the weekend with many children. Ate breakfast at Lucky's, 2 blocks away, past Giant, highly recommended and reasonabl... Read more

Took forever to check in. Room keys didn't work. Breakfast wasn't good. Internet was slow. Was promised room on 7th floor given one on first floor. No washing machine on site. Not a great stay. Disappointed in bedding too.
