We wanted a quiet, restful day at the beach away from all the turmoil of our busy lives. We had an ocean front room on the 5th floor which was perfect. The room was clean and had all the things we needed - microwave, refrig, coffee pot, hair dryer and the bathroom had sufficient towels, soap and shampoo. This was our first time at the Henlopen Hotel and I know we will return again. The location on the boardwalk and beach was great, when not sitting on the beach, we sat on the balcony and watc... I stayed at the Henlopen a few weeks ago and initially walking to the building left me feeling unsure what to expect- it was right on the water which was exciting but looked like a run down building literally falling apart! There were dangling pieces of siding up top of the roof that looked like they would fall any minute. Trying to be optimistic I walked in and felt like I entered a time warp- the inside was very outdated despite previous reviews I saw of it being recently remodeled. The staff... Read more

Unless you can't find anything else on the Board/Rehoboth, you might want to skip this hotel. I check in for a night and though the hotel was near empty they wouldn't give us a room with an ocean view, so we had to settle for a side view. The hotel looks like a nightscape out of a King oven. Dark long hallways, countless doors, the passageway to the Boardwalk from the hotel was scary and painted in weakly designed sketches of the ocean. The room was dirty and had not been vacuumed since there we... Read more

I have been longing to write about my awful experince at the Henlopen. I stayed there for a week in August 2015. I will start this by saying the location was wonderful. It was only a few blocks away from the center of the boardwalk (Rehoboth Boulevard). We booked a ocean view; however, we recived a side view. Additionally, we expected to have a pool. The hotel does not have a pool. The Henlopen apartments do. We were deceived twice. The rooms were basic and came with a bounty of pests. The room ... Read more

Laura and Amanda took great care of us. There was a booking error with Expedia and Laura called and made sure charges were reversed (after she made many frustrating calls) then followed up with me to let me know it had been taken care of. They gave us a huge room with a sea view, two balconies, kitchenette and large bath with granite. The location is at the far end of the board walk, but a close walk to everything. So, if you are looking for a great location, friendly service and a nice room... Read more

We stayed here in a (inside) side view room. Room looked like it had been recently remodeled. It was a good size room and was very clean & well maintained. I was not hesitant about walking around barefoot in the room (like many hotels). Room had a small fridge that worked well & a microwave (didn't try that one). We were there while there was a wedding but they were not overwhelming. The location was great, on the north end of the boardwalk & a pretty short walk to all the action. IMO, the ro... Read more

Whether for a weekend or a few days get away we have enjoyed this great value for years. In fact. Our family has gathered here for 15 years and stayed for a week all 15 of us. The beach location, the private rooms, suites and studios we have used over the years have accommodated growing families as each mom and dad and kids have their own bath, beds and privacy. The continental breakfast appeals to most but all of the gourmet set. Gathering on the beach by walking out the door, leaving the car f... Read more

We're finishing up our stay at the Henlopen. Look, it was decently priced by comparison to other old and outdated beach hotels. You know the ones that smell musty, have few if any updates made in the last 30 years, the towels are thin and raggy and the beds haven't had a new mattress since the 70s. Another reviewer was right about the A/C; old, clunky, and never been cleaned. But, we're always thankful to have it. If you can overlook the rundown and bleak hallways and stairwells and aren't a sti... Read more

The Henlopen Hotel offers the best of everything. We vacationed there with our family and the beach is right out front. Everything you need is in walking distance and it gets quiet and peaceful at night. If you like great service, location and fun choose the Henlopen Hotel!

Hotel is on very north end of Boardwalk and is one of best locations in Rehoboth as you are on quieter end of beach but still on Boardwalk. Rooms are modest in style and could use a renovation but serve as a suitable place for a weekend stay. Front Desk staff is very friendly and helpful. Also has nice feature that you can use shower facilities after checking out so can spend extra time at the beach.

We were so nervous as we approached the hotel given all the negative reviews but at least we knew it was clean and on the beach. Boy we were pleasantly surprised! The lobby is very nice, the staff is helpful, the room was bright, had an ocean view, the bed was comfy. Sure the tv was an older model and the wifi was spotty at times and the breakfast was mostly sugary cereal & bars but overall the experience was a good one. We would come back.

This hotel sits right on the boardwalk/beach. We stayed 4 nights recently. Our room was large, recently renovated, and very clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They upgraded us to a larger room on check-in for no extra cost. The breakfast is all cold/packaged items but adequate and a nice cost saver. Our room had a dorm fridge and microwave. The only downside I would note is that it is a beach hotel that did not seem to cater to beach-goers. I would have liked to see some beach chair... Read more

We've been coming to the Henlopen as long as we've been coming to Rehoboth. Great location and that why we continue to come. Seen a few updates over the years and happy to see that rooms are being refreshed again. We will be back! Thanks for another great stay

This is old hotel with 1/2 of it condos. Rooms are OK but dressing area has no privacy and bathrooms have no fans. Streamy. Side balcony face condo side and fans for air conditioners make a lot of noise. Continental buddy is poor. Cost better spent elsewhere

Large hotel . Located directly on beach which was vey convenient . Also at the end of Boardwalk so it was quieter. Hotel does not have a pool. Rooms can use some updating. Room rate comes with a continental breakfast with consists of cold cereals , packaged bagels and muffins . Very expensive , considering there is no pool and breakfast was processed food .

Went this past weekend for a wedding and stayed Thursday-Sunday. While the front desk was very friendly, the lobby & elevator very nice and the cleaning staff nice, we felt that the hotel was a rip-off for what it offered. We paid over $650 for our 3 night stay and expected more in ammentities. Upon arrival to our room, we noticed we had quite a few horseflies residing in the room, which made it difficult to sleep and were surprised weren't taken care of. The king-sized bed was extremely uncomf... Read more

I was quite impress with the oldest landmark hotel on the beach. Not only was our room clean but extremely spacious. Compare to the Plaza or other nearby hotels. Our savings were close to 500.00. In which we happily spend on dining and dancing. If you book a room ask for Laura . She will give you the best service ever. Also the view from the balcony is terrific.

There are several strange things about the Henlopen Hotel: 1. the entrance is on the opposite side from the ocean Boardwalk front and very well hidden from view; 2. the parking is very tight in all directions. Even the staff admitted it was strangely squashed; 3. there is direct access to the Boardwalk from the second floor patio but only condo denizens may come back in that way, presumably using a special key; 4. there is no restaurant; 5. breakfast in the well concealed breakfast room consists... My family and I made a last minute decision to extend a day trip into a weekend. We were able to get a room here for the same night and they didn't try to charge us $350/night to do so. The building is odd...yes. It is half condos. The lobby entrance is tucked away around the back. However, you can drive up to the door and they have private parking in an attached garage. There is direct boardwalk access and a much less crowded beach than the beach in the downtown area 2 blocks away. The rooms... Read more

We had my daughters wedding at Salero at the Beach atop the Henlopen Hotel on August 19th, 2016. The Henlopen housed all of our guests from around the nation. What a wonderful experience. Although we rented a large condo down the street for the week prior to the wedding to house all of the pre- celebration festivities, we stayed at the Henlopen on 8/20. They remembered and booked us in my favorite ocean front room. I have traveled all over Europe and the US and several places in Rehoboth over th... Read more

Just right for what we were looking for! This is more of a motel than a hotel as the room doors go to the outside. The rooms were comfortable and offered a side view to the ocean. There was an umbrella/chair rental in front of the motel and it was just a short walk down the boardwalk to Main St Rehoboth. They also had a nice selection of food for their continental breakfast. I would definitely stay here again.

This is adequate at best. The place has an odor and is badly outdated and just feels icky. The bedding is old and the rooms are plain. The breakfast room is outside the lobby and not very nice. It's not worth advertising that they have breakfast. I would not go back. Yuck.

Just spent the night for a quick get away. Stayed before for my daughters wedding, too. Highly recommend Salero/Henlopen for anyone considering a wedding! Dawn and the hotel staff were amazingly helpful, friendly and knowledgable. The Henlopen is really a treasure. Not far off the path, truly ocean front, and fairly priced. It's not new or glamorous- but not tired. The lobby has simple tasteful decor. There are a bit older elevators and the halls are a bit dingy. The rooms are bright and clean... Read more
