Homewood Suites Hartford is by far one of the best hotels I've had the pleasure of visiting. The rooms and breakfast nook was immaculate! The staff was very professional, courteous and accommodating. It's been a long time that I've had the pleasure of truly relaxing in a clean, quiet and comfortable setting.

We stayed here for a conference at the Connecticut Conference Center. The hotel has a shuttle to get to the conference during the week and the DASH bus is a few stops away. The building is an updated hotel in the middle of downtown. It has even preserved the old mail slot that would drop your letters from floor to floor until it reached the large, gold mailbox on the first floor. Rooms are big, clean, updated. They provide "snacks" in the evening but I would call it a dinner. Breakfast each morn... Read more

I always try and stay at a Homewood Suites due to the layout of the rooms and the feeling you are in a small apartment versus a hotel room. The location is good, and the units are clean. Nice restaurant right next door, other needs can be met within blocks.

This Homewood Suites did not meet the high standards of other Hilton properties we have stayed in. It is poorly maintained, and despite having been told that it was recently renovated, the furniture was worn and dated. The staff was unresponsive and appeared to be overwhelmed by any requests made by guests. Upon booking, we were not informed that the lobby was undergoing renovation during our stay. In addition, we were disturbed by loud music coming from a prom that was booked in the same build... Read more

Between the dated rooms, the blood on and holes in the sheets and the excessive noise from the bar across the alley from the hotel until around 3am, this was a truly horrendous experience. We couldn't get out of there fast enough the following morning.

Great staff, was under construction and still very crown and pleasant. Staff is very awesome but the beds don't have pillow top mattresses so for me a 200lbs male, this was hard on my joints for a 4 night stay

Worn out despite claim of recent renovation. Terrible parking lot. To tight and very difficult to park. Lobby closed requiring use of rear lobby with stairs but no ramp and no bell hop. Would not expect a bell hop, but given the lack of a ramp more help was required. Room lamp dead, requiring replacement by by engineer. Very strange TV with bad picture and no summary of program being watched.

I got charged 2x for my 2 night stay!!! So i literally paid over $1000 for my stay. I told the the front desk as soon as i had checked in that i already pre paid my stay (advance pay) with the customer service on the phone with Hilton honors and that i was only to pay for parking, front desk did not say anything. After a few days of coming home, found my online statement to have been charged again for my stay plus more!!! Called hilton honors, and online number that i found, multiple times, no a... Read more

upon discovering that they were under construction, I asked if I could switch to the Hilton next door, which they would not accommodate. In addition, I asked if they could match my client's discounted rate at the Hilton to which they said they would not so I paid $70 more for a crappier hotel that was under construction. It felt like I paid a ton of money for the equivalent of a Motel 6. The front desk person upon check-in completely lacked any customer service skills. The person at check-ou... Read more

While the hotel made clear the front lobby would be closed, they did not make clear that the back entry would require walking through a dark alley/parking lot with a local bar on the other side. No extra security staff, no one even at the desk when I returned. As a single female traveler, I would not recommend to anyone traveling alone until the renovations are complete. I felt extremely uncomfortable and unsafe returning around 11pm. Had I known the full extent of the renovation implications, ... Read more

Noisy, dirty, unattractive overall. We stay at Homewood Suites all the ime and this was the first total disappointment I've experienced. The rooms were very awkward -- long and narrow -- making TV viewing very difficult. The bathroom sink in our room had no towel rack and indeed no space for towels. The pullout bed was lumpy and we had to move furniture to be able to use it. But the worst part was the noise level. A huge graduation party was raging past midnight on the Saturday of our stay... Currently staying at the hotel and they have decided to charge me for three nights I won't be using, here's the story: I am in Hartford for two weeks for work. My employer's travel agency booked this hotel for 11 nights. Before coming to Hartford my wife and I discussed visiting NYC during the weekend between the two weeks. Hotel under renovation - rooms have icky - very unsafe to leave or enter the hotel - homeless surround the hotel - did not know Hartford has a very high crime rate - for the price I would expect a clean room safe location and no homeless - why does Hilton hide renovations - check their site no mention of temp lobby - old fixtures - construction during the day - way below the Hilton standard and very unsafe location

The location of the property is great, within a 5min walk to the state Capitol and a very short drive to Mark Twain's house and museum. However, the general areas, including the corridors leading to the rooms are musky and need to replaced. Good news is that they are working on the main lobby. Should hopefully improve over the next few months.

I cannot wait for the remodel to be finished. I enjoy the location (close to my work) and the customer service of the staff. The hotel is walking distance to many good restaurants as well as XL and Bushnell. There is a shuttle to take business travelers to their work but I rented a car and enjoyed the parking situation. As far as free breakfasts go this one was excellent with many quality choices.

My husband and I recently stayed at this hotel to attend a Jazz Festival and the location was perfect. Our room was very clean and accomodating with a full kitchen. The front desk staff was very friendly and professional. My only recommondation for future quest is to avoid a room on the lower floors directly across from the restaurant/bar next door. The restaurant/bar has a deck and the place can be pretty loud.

To be fair our actual room was ok, it was everything outside the room that we found disappointing including the treatment at the front desk that did not seem to care about our satisfaction at all since we had used Hilton points to pay for part of the room. What's the point of being loyal to Hilton if you get treated like a second class citizen when you actually use the point??? Outside The Room #1: Noise! This hotel was the second night stop of our driving experience in the US. We arrived at 6.35 pm with a very tired and hungry young child. My daughter in law stood at the front desk for close to 15 minutes while the desk clerk continued a private conversation, at least, my daughter in law hoped it was private rather than directed at a customer, because of all the profanity and swearing that could be heard from the clerk's side of the conversation. First of all the staff was very nice and helpful. This hotel was far from being what we expected. So disappointing that we checked out a day early. We booked the 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom suite. It was very small (compared to others) and the layout was just wrong. The cook top was broken, the lamp next to the bed had no off / on switch, light in bathroom was burned out. The most outstanding feature of Homewood Suites Downtown Hartford is location. It is located within walkig distance of several good venues. There are many positives about this hotel. Our room was huge and the bed was very comfortable. The front desk staff were very friendly. The breakfast was excellent. The redecorated lobby is very attractive. That said, I could not give it an excellent rating because of a couple minor flaws and one major flaw. Homewood Suites in downtown Hartford felt like a bargain hotel at luxury hotel prices. The decor is 60s but not retro, the suite was inconveniently arranged with only one closet -- that was IN one of the bathrooms and the curtains didn't actually cover the windows. They either need to lower the price to Motel 6 or spend major upgrade dollars.

I stayed for just one night. Nice breakfast in the morning, with hot choices. Room is standard Homewood - serviceable, clean, utilitarian. All the staff were great. A long walk to get to room, as this is a big hotel. If you are coming from the Hartford/Bradley airport: the #30 bus ("Bradley Flyer) is a cheap way into town ($1.50). It stops in the outer roadway outside baggage about once an hour. If you get off at the convention center and transfer to the free city circular bus ("Dash"), it will... Read more

This hotel is kind of old but the room is very nice and the location is very convenient to many places like State Capitol. The front desk people are one of the best and very helpful. The breakfast is just OK and they have light dinner on Monday-Thursday. The parking is $16 a day not too bad for downtown parking. I wish there is 4 1/2 star rating but I feel good today so I gave 5 star. The internet is OK and since I am Diamond member so I get free fast internet connection.
