This hotel is very and our check in was fast and easy BUT, beware of the following. All though this hotel is fairly new the walls are paper thin. They should of spent some money to put sound baring walls in but they didn't. Second this hotel is full of college teams as Western State College is right next door. There are also lots of high school teams in the hotel as well. At least the Thursday night that we were there. With that being said it was like hand to hand combat trying to get a ta... Read more

I have traveled extensively and have even worked as a Front Desk Associate and as an Assistant General Manager of a hotel. I have a good understanding of the complexities of making sure that every need is met and every detail is attended to; that being said, the customer service my family and I received at this is hotel is far and away the best I've ever experienced. I would highly recommend that if you are in the Gunnison area and are in need of a room for the night, you should choose this hote... Read more

Hannah was a lifesaver, literally. We had an 18 month old with altitude sickness and a 30 year old with severe dehydration requiring a hospital stay. She organized our multiple rooms, over several days, with no hassle. Most importantly, she picked us up at the Gunnison Hospital after midnight when we had no transportation, over the top service. I will say it again, Hannah was a lifesaver.

I was in Gunnison recently and booked one of the moderately priced hotels in town. I stayed one night at the hotel and decided that I couldn't bear it any longer, so I booked a room for 2 nights at the Holiday Inn Express which is just on the edge of town as you're entering Gunnison from the east. It's a very nice location with a lot of great parking, a nice new facility, and big rooms. I had never been to Gunnison before but now that I've seen what's available, I would never stay anywhere else ... Read more

Traveled to Gunnison on my way to family funeral in Montrose. Checked in without incident. Friendly staff, room nice, clean and relaxing. Seen many people with bikes, fishing gear ready for a great weekend. Peeked into breakfast area to get cup of coffee next morning- they had a variety of food choices to eat. Highly recommended.

Check in was efficient and the room was quite well appointed The buffet breakfast (included) was quite diverse. The only negative is too much waste with plates, cups, utensils etc. we're all plastic and thrown away. We stayed in a room that faced the highway but we could not hear noise from it. Probably the best hotel in the Gunnison area. We stayed on the top floor which I believe has taller ceilings. Room was pretty basic but very clean. Staff were amazing. Every staff member to the time to address us and we felt very welcomed. It is also a great location if you want to visit the university.

Based on the reviews of other hotels in Gunnison - the HIE appears to be the best choice in Gunnison but this particular HIE did not impress. - The bed linens in the first King room we were given looked as if someone had napped on the bed. We called down to the desk and they had one other King that was available. -Both rooms were hot and smelled stale with not even a low setting of A/C running ( our stay was during a hot spell) Crested Butte is just a short (27 mile), easy drive north of Gunn... From check-in, to letting us borrow a bottle opener which they could have made us pay for in their hotel store. Recently stayed at this hotel, was very pleased. Gunnison is a small town where a person could walk from one end to the other. This hotel is at the edge of town with Colorado State Western University just behind it. Main street where shops and restaurants are is a five minute walk away. The hotel is newer and solidly built. Very little if any noise from the hallways or other rooms. My room happened to be a handicapped room, so I can't review the average room. The bed was comfortable with both so... Read more

My wife and I stayed here as part of an event with the Colorado Tandem Club. This Holiday Inn gave our group a discounted rate of $75 on what is normally a $120 room. The room itself is spacious - big enough to accommodate our tandem bicycle and all our luggage. It had plenty of closet and drawer space and the room felt like it was brand new. We were upgraded to a suite which is a larger room with a sofa and small table with chairs. The room had a small wet bar that held the microwave and refrigerator. It is always nice having two sinks. There was one small TV in the bed room (32?? probably) which was in the bedroom and it did not fit the size of the space at all. The room was large and viewing difficult from the sitting area. Stayed here one night with family. Great location at the end of town. Easy access from the highway. Room was clean, beds were a bit soft for me but no big deal. Pool and hot tub area was nice and clean as well. Breakfast was provided but not as good as I've come to expect from Holiday Inn. I am in the process of spending a miserable night here. My room is directly across from an ice machine that is being frequently noisily visited. It is above a set of ground-level vent pipes that can create a near-jet-like roar. Laid over in Gunnison with two blown tires on my 4wd I was not expecting anything.
