So beautiful with a balcony overlooking the river. Great path along the river. I do wish it had some type of breakfast. They have a restaurant, but it was more than I wanted to pay for breakfast. There are places nearby to get food. Very close to Main Street where there is good shopping and food. I did have an issue with the Wi-Fi, but the girl at the front desk was helpful.

I had a work conference here in May and it was a beautiful place to stay. The trees were blossoming, the river was running full, and it's great location made it easy to walk to all of the downtown attractions. The walking trail located right along the Animas River was a great way to get to experience it.

This was our first stay at the Doubletree in Durango. We visit Durango a few times a year, many times skiing. Overall the staff at this hotel is excellent - very nice and welcoming. The hotel seems to be a little dated, but very clean. The restaurant is formal and you can get a table at the window to watch the river. I am a Hilton Rewards member and they treat reward members very well, so I would suggest signing up if you haven't! The room was nice, very clean. Bathroom was lovely, very ef... Read more

Hotel and City was great, We had a balcony view of the river. Room was large and comfortable. My wife, earlier in the day, sprain her ankle and was unable to walk comfortably when we arrived. The hotel sent us a loaner wheelchair that was a tremendous help and allowed us to get out that evening and view this wonderful city. I wish we had been able to spend more time there

Ok--so I am a Hilton Hhonors member but I surely observed every guest being treated in the most amazing manner at this place! The setting is gorgeous and I love balconies--these look right over the river and you can see people rafting and others biking/walking on the path below. Even the city-side balconies would provide entertaining people-watching views. The dining room is river-side with big windows too. If you don't mind paying almost $300/night for a dated and worn hotel with overpriced mediocre dining, then this is your place! Excellent location on the river, unfortunately they don't make good use of it. Three options for dining, all coming from the same menu and kitchen. Felt like we were in Hugh Hefner's lounge for drinks. Road noise on the non-river side was terrible. As a HH Member, we could not get a river front room. A comfortable hotel well located a few minutes walk from the centre of town with good parking. Helpful staff, particularly on the front desk where they went to great lengths to sort out a problem with the reservation. Quality of breakfast could be improved where some egg dishes were poorly cooked and service is very slow.

Glad I chose this place for an overnight while passing through. Durango was a great place to stop for the night, and between the cool town and the DoubleTree, it had me wishing I was there for a few days. The hotel was located right on the edge of town. We had a comfy double room with a river view. Comfy beds and the little things they added really made a difference. (Great cookies on checkin and some small welcome perks in the room.)

Restaurants in house so you have to leave if you don't want to. Large bathrooms with two rooms , one has shower and toilet and sink, then other has your closet and sink area

The location is great but if you need an internet connection, do not stay at this hotel. There are plenty of nearby hotels, in similarly good locations that cost way less per night. Unlike this hotel, they have internet that is easy to access. Desk staff here consider the difficult/impossible to access internet here to be a problem beyond their control, so don't plan on looking up any restaurants, hiking trails, or scenic drives from your hotel room. Friendly staff, pleasant large room, clean hotel. Nice room layout. Enjoyed the view of river out back. Okay breakfast buffet. Room was quiet. Location is pretty good -- short walk to train station and historic downtown. Crossing the busy street is a bit of a chore, but there are crosswalks & lights to help.

Used The Doubletree and Durango as the base for four-cornerstone. The hotel is a five minute walk from the must do narrow gage train and 30 easy minutes formLess Verde NP. Historic downtown and great dining choices are also just call walk away. Our river-view king was big with a small balcony. The room also has an easy chair and a table with 4 chairs. Bathroom had two vanities another's came with a microwave and fridge. Public areas are well maintained but some might think it's time for a... Read more

This hotel should have received top rating but the other than spacious rooms with nice views of the river it didn't live up to the standards a hotel of this caliber should. Overpriced and the room wasn't cleaned the 2nd day.

The room is a bit overpriced but it is a tourist area. It is walking distance to the train and historic downtown. Overall would recommend this hotel

We have stayed here many, many times when traveling thru. However this time it seems it is getting run down. The carpet is wearing badly, the rooms smell musty. The beds aren't as comfortable. The lamp shades are crooked. Just seems like it's going down hill. Needs a upgrade. The staff is fabulous and helpful. Way overpriced for what you get. The breakfast is extra and lots to choose from, just way to much to expensive.

We spent three days and two nights at this outstanding hotel. It is within walking distance to the Durango-Leadville train and the incredible downtown. When they say walking distance, they do not mean "hike", as soon hotels do! We literally were downtown within seven minutes. The rooms themselves were very spacious, clean, and comfortable. We stayed in a second floor room with a balcony overlooking the Animas RIver walk. That was another perk of the Double Tree. The staff was friendly and... Read more

Good: Free shuttle from airport and to downtown, walking distance to downtown, grocery store next door, pool, in-room coffee maker, fridge, microwave, bathtub, TV, comfortable bed, quiet, spacious and good wifi. Extra miles: If you need amenities like: toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, shaver and shaver cream, you could ask from the front desk. They gave for free willingly. This is extra mile provided from a good hotel.

We loved staying at the Doubletree in Durango! The room was the perfect size, comfortably furnished and the bathroom was spotless and contemporary. It was walking distance to the Durango and Silverton Railroad and they have a lovely restaurant. Of course, it's great that they provide warm chocolate chip cookies when we checked in as well. Stayed two nights and everything was perfect. We had a room with a balcony overlooking the Animas River. Fun to just sit out and watch the paddle boarders and kayakers on the river. They also have a open air restaurant that is on the river. We had lunch there and it was great. Ate light but salads were very fresh with unique ingredients. Just a short walk to the train and the downtown area.. Great shopping and dining downtown. A true western town with old west charm.

We had a very nice room with a view of the river on the third floor. When the elevator stopped working the one morning, the staff moved us to the main floor immediately since I currently have foot injury with a walking boot. Let me say right off that the staff was top notch. The reasons for my average rating has to do with interior hotel appearance and the hotel's setting. Our room was very comfortable, but furniture was old and all spaces in the hotel had a very "tired" out of date look and feel to them. However, I just saw a response from management to another reviewer that states they are slated for some upcoming renovations, so that's good news! This hotel is in a beautiful location, rooms are nice, beds are comfortable and the food is good. However, this hotel needs an update to the inside- it's stuck in 1975. The food menus are exactly the same in the bar, restaurant, lounge and room service. So, selection is limited and over priced. It seems like for the price, the inside of the hotel should match the outside and quality should be improved.

I travel to this hotel quite frequently on business. The hotel decor is notably dated, but the staff is professional and friendly. Just behind the hotel is the Animas River which is quite scenic and relaxing, there's a train that goes into the local mountains and downtown Durango is pleasant as well.
