Solid hotel, as usual from Best Western. Clean room, quiet room. Good parking, friendly staff. No issues at all. We moved at 1am from a nasty Spanish place down the street. I reviewed it also. Staff was fast and helpful getting us moved. It was late and we were so tired.

The location is great, a short walk from the train, restaurants and shopping. The room was clean and service was good. The indoor atrium pool can be noisy and lends a smell of pool chlorine to the indoor space. Generally, a good place to stay in Durango.

I really liked this hotel, very nice and top notch staff. Plus you get tickets for 2 free happy hour drinks per night stayed (not just cheap drinks, but whatever you'd like!). The breakfast was very good and the dining area (which is also the bar in the evenings) was super clean. The wonderfully helpful staff recommended several local spots for dinner that did not disappoint (Steamworks and The Ore House). The hotel is in easy walking distance of these places as well as the train that runs to Si... Read more

We stayed for 2 nights while touring southwestern Colorado and it was a well located near downtown Durango. The room was very large with a balcony. The hotel is a little older, but in the process of a remodeling, so I expect it will be updated soon. Breakfast was the usual fare. The hotel also offered a complimentary happy hour each evening and that was a nice touch. Staff was helpful and parking was easy. You could walk to local restaurants. We would stay there again.

This is an older property, but is fairly clean, well kept, and in an excellent location. The rooms around the pool have a distinct chlorine smell, so, if, you don't like that, ask for an outside room. We had a king room that was spacious and comfortable. The breakfast was good, with adequate protein items as well as the usual overload of sugary things. I didn't like the fact that the towels were stored over the toilet-yuck! That's a pet peeve of mine-just not sanitary. There was a little mold ar... Read more

This hotel is only a stone's throw from the station servicing the Durango to Silverton scenic railroad. This is good, because it means the hotel is also embedded in Durango's interesting and lively city center. Despite its proximity to the railroad station, however, the hotel, itself, is stationary. It is faded and dated. The front desk staff are unfriendly and unhelpful. All rooms surround a central, three story atrium. Between 9 am and 9 pm when the atrium pool is open and atrium tables se... Not only is this hotel in a great location, the staff are friendly. Equally important, the bed comfort is great (that's very important to me). The only thing missing that I would like to have had is breakfast included with the room. But, I have to say that other people may love the free (alcoholic) drink coupons (I think we got one coupon per person per day). This place is great and we try to get a room there for each trip we take to Durango.

Good points: Location; Cleanliness; Continental breakfast. Strong wi-fi; Shuttle van from airport. Not so good points: Gloomy room with a view of a cement wall. (2nd floor); Indifferent reception staff. Confusing directional signs to rooms. Pervasive smell of chlorine from central indoor pool.

We picked this hotel due to its proximity to the Silverton Train. After arriving, we also found it is a perfect place for visiting the whole of down town. Traffic is very heavy in this little place of heaven so it was nice to be able to park the car and walk everywhere we wanted to go. When we went to our room, there was a smell of smoke. We reported it to the manager and she immediately switched us to an upgraded room. There is a complimentary laundromat on site which was a very pleasant s... Read more

Location very good for train and downtown.Staff very friendly. Inn dated and not my style, probably good for families. Common area is the atrium in the center with swimming pool. Can be noisy, and chlorine smell. View out window was adjoining building. Area for breakfast and happy hour was glass enclosed off pool, somewhat dark, tight, and dingy. Not sure, even with remodeling, that you can remedy my negatives.

We checked out of this hotel yesterday morning. Our original reservation was for 3 days. We left after one day and it couldn't have been faster. I want to let TA readers know that I read every review before booking this hotel and was familiar with the location as I had visited Durango several time before. I felt certain, because of the positive reviews, that we had made the right choice. We usually stay at The Strater, but it was booked during the time we wanted to visit. The most important... The hotel was nice. We used it because it was close to the train station. It was hard for the GPS to find because the town recently changed 2nd Ave to one way so we had to figure out how to get to the hotel without the GPS. Other than that we had a good stay.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights with a group of 34 friends in a car club. The service from the staff was excellent. They provided us with hoses, etc. to wash our cars and a private area to park. Breakfast was included as well as happy hour for 2 hours each day in which we were allowed 2 drinks each. After 2, the drinks were cheap. To sum it up, it was a great experience and I would recommend this hotel.

We stayed here two nights, a little hard to find but we did it. The location is great, close to everything....withing walking distance to many shops, sites and restaurants . Our first room was great until we opened the curtains, our balcony had a view of the stairs. And, those said stairs, had kids running up an down them. We love kids, we have 8 grandchildren... and they make noise!!! No problem, we good another room where we sat outside and enjoyed the quietness of our balcony and view.

This was a one night stay while visiting friends in the area. I can't speak for all the rooms as mine was a first floor "paraplegic equipped" room (photos included). It was on the corner of the building, right outside the arrival/departure area, so you have a lot of conversation going on at certain hours. The room has an in-room a/c that is loud, so cool the room and then turn it off to sleep. The hotel facilities (pool and hot tub) and easily accessible and indoors. The bar and breakfast a... This is a sufficient hotel, but it is in desperate need of renovation. The room was really worn and depressing. The pool was ok. My kids enjoyed it. Thankfully, we spent very little time in the hotel with the all-day train adventure, so it was manageable. I would not stay here again if given the choice.

If you stay at this hotel, the big risk factor is the type of room you get. Our first room had a window that faced a brick wall, so it felt like we were in a prison. The next day the receptionist kindly moved us into a room with a window that faced outside, but the room used to be a smoking room, so it smelled awful. We were tired of switching rooms, so we just sucked it up. Breakfast was not great, but they did have waffles. Eggs and sausage were questionable. The positives were the comple... Read more

The consensus on this hotel is great location, which I agree with. I don't think this merits the price of over $200. The room is average and amenities are OK. The free happy hour was good but being next to the indoor pool, it smelled of chlorine. The bed was probably the best thing about the room and was extremely comfortable.
