    • Breckenridge Ski resort offers great intermediate skiing with slopes that aren't as steep as those at other Colorado resorts, making it an excellent place to perfect skills. Also, despite the modest vertical, Breck's 2358 acres make it the fourth-largest ski area in the state, offering lots of fresh territory to explore. Three shuttle routes--two for ski areas, one for parking lots--snake through town. Rides are free.

    Local Tips: Check out the The Peak 8 Fun Park--featuring Superslide, Superputt, a giant maze, lift rides, hiking and a climbing wall--operates from 9am to 5pm daily during the summer.

    Directions from Denver:
    1) Take I-70 West 90 miles to Exit #203 (CO-9 Frisco/Breckenridge).
    2) Head South on Hwy. 9 for nine miles.
    3) As you enter Breckenridge, you will want to be in the right hand lane, as Hwy 9 veers right onto Park Avenue just before a round-about.
    4) (If you go through the round-about, you've gone too far.)
    5) Continue through the stoplight at the intersection of Ski Hill Road.
    6) River Mountain Lodge is located roughly 50 yards down on your left hand side.
