I met my best friend here for a girls weekend. We decided to stay at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco, as it was walking distance to 16th street, and has a spa right next to the hotel. The weekend we had plans to go, it rained and snowed all weekend. At least we didn't have to go outside to access the spa. The hotel is very nice. They have a wine hour each night, I think from 5 - 6pm. If you miss the wine hour, the front desk staff was happy to give us a coupon to use for a glass of wine in the onsit... Read more

What can I say that hasn't already been said about this beautiful hotel? Great location, attentive staff, dog friendly, well appointed cozy room, and free wine! This Place has so much more character than the bigger corporate chain hotels, and that goes a long way.

I was on an unscheduled visit to Denver this day and didn't feel like driving home so I searched for a place to stay. It suggested this hotel, It was so close, I went over to ask to use a restroom to "check it out". Weird I know but I had to go anyway! While the staff was friendly & the downtown location was convenient, this experience was a bit below the Kimpton standard we've enjoyed in Seattle & Chicago. Repeated attempts by the hotel engineer failed to resolve a cable TV issue. It also took repeated requests for the housekeeping staff to provide regular coffee pods for the Kurig rather than just decaf. Small things make the difference in average versus better.

chose this hotel because of the room, however after checking in they tell me the room I booked is not available until tomorrow. The room they put us in is not only right in front of the elevator but also directly next door to the gym. Totally not what I originally visioned. Was only offered a minor discount but the real issue is I chose this hotel because of the room. I've always loved Kimpton and the service they provide, however, I'm a little disappointed. I travel a lot and occasionally I have an experience that really stands out. My stay at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco Denver was exceptional. The hotel is well located in downtown Denver near the 16th St. Mall. and the Convention Center. Horrendous front desk service, and poor communication from hotel management regarding the unavailability of room service on Memorial Day. Disappointed to find a potato chip on my bathroom floor and nail clippings next to my bed on check-in. Truly disappointed as this is the first negative experience I've had across five different Kimpton hotels. I would highly recommend avoiding the Denver Monaco as it does not offer the same quality of service as other Kimpton Hotels.

I stayed at the Hotel Monaco for a couple nights at the end of a Colorado road trip. I had the feeling I was going to want to have a nice place to stay and get ready to fly home. When I booked my room it was just a little more per night to get a Premier room with a king bed and it was definitely worth it. Being downtown in a big city can sometimes feel a bit claustrophobic, but the extra space in the room made me feel like I had my own space. I like the interior design and decor of the room, a g... I am a Kimpton Karma Member, and I try to stay at one of their properties whenever there is one in the city I am visiting. My stay at the Monaco Denver was my least favorite experience at a Kimpton. Here's why: 1) The in-room safe was too small for my standard-sized laptop. I tried every imaginable angle, and it would not fit; 2) There were two nightstands, and neither one of them had any drawers. They looked sassy, but really? To make matters worse, there was no dresser or armoire, either.... Read more

We stayed in the Kimpton Monaco for two days at the end of May 2016. We were disappointed that this Kimpton was not nice as others we have enjoyed. The place is an older hotel that is only moderately updated. The décor is more or less Monaco meets Santa Fe and Iowa. Ornate ceiling in public room, Western art, big cow near the elevators. The rooms are spacious and bathrooms big but our bathroom can best be described as grubby. The shower tile grout and caulk was just plain dirty and poorly... Read more

You can't beat the Hotel Monaco's downtown Denver location. It's within a short walking distance of the 16th Street Mall. The rooms are clean and spacious with an old-world vibe. The attached restaurant / bar (Panzano) is a welcome surprise. It felt like the hotel was 85% of the way through a renovation - there were a few minor things yet to fix up. Overall, I had a great stay and would recommend it. Also: Got dogs? They welcome pups here with no silly restrictions or fees.

This is a Kimpton Hotel and having stayed at a few I do have certain expectations. Unfortunately this hotel did not meet those expectations. The location is central enough, downtown, and easy to get to. Not much happening around the hotel and it seemed to be smack in the financial area (it faces the bank). Very quiet at night. There is a coffee place opposite and a great Italian restaurant onsite. The lobby is inviting enough, with lovely lounge chairs and sofas. The hotel provides coffee in t... Read more

I was travelling through Denver on a cross country drive. I will make my dog comments toward the end and review the hotel first. When you pull up, valet parking is a street drop off and pick up. The valets are nice and responsive. This could get a bit chaotic on a busy day, but the valets were very attentive. Check in was easy. I requested a high floor far from the elevator. Nice business hotel, but considering the cost, not the best value. Good location near 16th Street Mall and convention center. Staff was friendly. The furnishings are a bit over the top and old-fashioned. It feels like you're staying at a wealthy older lady's home. The hotel staff reached out via email prior to our stay, and when I told them we were celebrating our anniversary, they made sure to make our experience special. We only spent one night but would definitely recommend this hotel. It is easy to get to and in a great downtown location. The room was large, comfortable, and quiet. The onsite restaurant is excellent and the hotel does free wine and appetizers in the evening. The toiletries were very nice but the towels were rather average. My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights at the start of a road trip. It's a lovely hotel just 5 minutes walk from 16th Street and all the shops and restaurants. The lobby of the hotel was nice and it was nice that they offered a wine happy hour and morning coffee bar. Our room was okay. The bathroom was below the standard of a hotel like this. The door was too close to the bed and you basically look at the toilet. It had a pocket door that did not offer much privacy, since it is right next to the bed. The decor... Read more

Hotel Monaco is a cute little boutique hotel for the price. Nothing spectacular but nicely decorated comfortable room with comfy beds. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. Nice Lobby.... The restaurant, Panzano, is highly rated and breakfast from there is delish.

OK, I am not a Kimpton regular, so maybe I am missing something with the reviews I read...but our room (4th floor overlooking 17th st) was lovely. The bed and pillows were like heaven. The bath, towels, soaps, etc.and the robes were great. Every single person we encountered was helpful and so nice. The morning coffee, iced coffee were a nice little perc. We took the train from the airport to Union Square($9 per person), then the free mall bus 8 stops, and walked about a block to the hotel-super easy.... Read more

The front desk service was excellent-professional, accommodating and friendly. The amenities, the restaurant, the room, everything was a positive experience. I definitely recommend this hotel and will return when I am in Denver. The morning coffee hour and afternoon wine hour is a very nice touch. Also, convenient to get around downtown.

My husband and I stayed here while in between visiting family in the area, I wanted to surprise him for his 60th. The staff were super friendly and welcoming, they even sent a desert and champagne to our room for his birthday! The king room was clean and spacious, the location perfect. Walking distance to Larimer Square. Overall a great stay! Definitely recommend this hotel.

i stayed at this hotel numerous times back when the hotel was new but hadn't been back in several years. good to see the hotel is still well maintained, the staff is still well trained and friendly and my room was attractive and clean. the restaurant is still very good and the bar is a popular after work happy hour gathering spot. only complaint? i can't believe there's a hotel that still charges for internet! in this day and age that left a bad taste in my mouth. but all in all a good experienc... Stayed here with a package deal to Red Rocks, it was amazing. The staff was wonderful and the restaurant beneath it had great drinks, friendly staff and the most delicious food for happy hour. The hotel also had coffee in the morning and a wine party at night too. Our room was very comfortable, clean but a little dark...it faced another building but that was ok. I would certainly recommend it if you are visiting Denver. The location was perfect and the concierge and outside staffers friend... Read more

We always enjoy staying at Kimpton hotels because of the level of excellence they provide. The Hotel Monaco was no exception. After a frustrating experience finding a place to park so that we could check in, we had a wonderful stay. The front desk staff were all so incredibly gracious. The room was immaculate and pet friendly! The restaurant was always busy and full of energy. We did not eat in the restaurant but we had late night cocktails at the bar. I stayed here for one night while in Denver for a book event. It was a Saturday, and I was pretty exhausted, so the bustling atmosphere of the 16th street mall was a little overwhelming for me. The hotel provided the perfect, calming atmosphere, while still feeling bustling and popular. There is free wine in the lobby to start the evening! Joy! And the coffee in the morning was strong and delicious. The room was bright and pretty. I had some trouble getting my door to lock at first, but received... Read more

Had my wallet stolen by room service. Contacted the hotel manager and besides giving us the girls name they were unwilling to help at all. I've never had something stolen from room service at a hotel. Right in front of me when I turned to the table to sign for the food. They didn't do anything and if those are the type of people they employ, it will happen to somebody else. BEWARE

The Hotel Monaco was in a great location and the room and amenities were wonderful. The free happy hour in the very cool lobby is a great bonus. The restaurant in the lobby is also a great place for a lace night drink. Look for Willy, the bell boy, he's great and a huge help.

Great location in the heart of the city and only a few blocks away from the popular LoDo neighborhood. While it's surrounded by mostly office buildings, there are still many restaurants around and the restaurant attached to the hotel (Panzano), which also did the room service for the hotel, was very good. Some other special perks offered in the lobby: fresh (free) coffee in the morning, iced teas in the afternoon, and a MASSAGE HAPPY HOUR(!) every day from 5-6. Yeah it's only a few minutes to... I am a Kimpton member do or die. I have loved all the Monaco's, especially San Fran and Portland Monaco. I have raved to my mom about how much my spouse and I have enjoyed our stays there. Unfortunately, Denver was so far beneath what I have experienced in the past. Wine hour? Yes, but no apps or cheese or music, white and red and masseuse. There was a pianist in San Fran And a palm reader and a painter in Portland to go with the massage. Very specific to the area we were staying in. Coffe... Read more

We have stayed at many Kimpton hotels so when we visited Denver, we wanted to try Hotel Monaco. At first we thought we were in for a disappointment when our room wasn't ready when we arrived, but it was only about a 20 minute wait and then all was ready. This was a typical Kimpton room, a little eclectic but very nice with everything you could ask for. Bed was great, toiletries were good, everything was clean and fresh. We always enjoy the happy hour with free wine, but having a free massage ... Read more

I went to Denver with my college roommate as a reunion trip over a year after graduating. The hotel staff was amazing, so friendly and helpful, we felt at home. They truly went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay. The hotel itself was also extremely comfortable and clean. They had a happy hour from 5-6 in the hotel lobby each day which was very relaxed and a nice way to ease into the evening. Stayed here over the last weekend and had a great stay. Still love this hotel. I find the rooms, bedding, towels, etc all top notch. Love the wine tasting reception, also a nice touch. I find the hotel price a good value compared to some of the competition in the area. Only thing that jumped out as me as a little excessive was the $42 valet fee. That really needs to be about $30.

My wife and I booked a Spa Guest Room with one King Bed at the Denver, Kimpton Monaco for our anniversary on our recent vacation to CO. Normally a $459/night room (before taxes and service fees and valet), we paid $283 through Travelocity. Guaranteed check-in: 3pm. Finally were able to check-in closer to 3:45pm. Things happen so this was no big deal. We had dinner at Panzano's which is fantastic and went back to the room. Sometime around 2am, we both woke up because the air conditioner and the... Read more

The hotel is very central being downtown and close to 16th St. We had a room on the 4th floor, not great views but the room was very comfortable and a good size. There is coffee every morning in the lobby lounge which is a nice touch to be able to grab and run. Denver is a great place and the scenery is stunning, the location is great to be in the mountains in no time. Well worth a visit.

Here's my bias - I just love Kimpton hotels. For my travel preferences they just do everything right! Staff that is so friendly (but not fake), great perks in frequent stay program, happy hour, massage, coffee and dogs. Did I mention dogs??? Prices are reasonable and last minutes discounts can be a bargain!!!

Stayed there last week. Love Klimpton hotels. Checked in on Wednesday, in a hurry to drop our bags and head out to a business dinner. The next morning, my husband and I were STUNNED when we awoke and saw construction workers right outside our window! For that reason, drapes had to be closed instead of letting the wonderful colorado sun wake us up.

If you love boutique hotels, this is for you. Kimpton a just get away from the stodgy mainstream hotels and are inviting. Love the cocktail hour as well as the honor bar and free wi fi. Bed was comfortable. Staff helpful and courteous. Good location and easy to walk to/from Union station. Four star rating because of my pet peeve and that's the bathroom. Still old style with a shower in the bath and kind of cramped.

We stayed here for the Broncos Colts game and it was a beautiful hotel. The rooms were beautiful and the beds were comfortable and cozy. The pillows were fluffy and the desserts were amazing. Staff all around were pleasant and friendly. Only downfalls were the $40 some we had to pay on top of the $200+ per night and having to pay for WiFi. Other than that it was a great experience.

While not as nice other Kimpton hotels, I did love the decor and location of this hotel. Of my five nights, I had issues with my room 4 of those days. Tv didn't work. Key slider didn't work and had to wait a long time for it to be repaired. No hot water twice. Only one elevator working until the last day. While this was my reality I don't think it was indicative of most experiences and the bottom line, the hotel took care of the issues and took care of me as well. I still recommend the hotel but... Stayed two nights. Good valet parking and efficient check-in (which was appreciated after a 10-hour flight and with body clocks thinking it was the early hours of the morning!). I can only compare cost of valet parking with the other cities we have stayed in but $42 a night seemed a lot. Maybe parking space is at a premium in Denver (cost of parking at Hotel Monaco in Salt Lake, for example, was only $24 per night). This is a great stay. Directly down 17th Street from the revamped Union Station and close to the Denver Convention Center. Even in the center of the city, the rooms are quiet. Pets can stay on certain floors--as with most Kimpton Hotels. A 5-6pm wine hour (free) every day, coffee/tea in the morning in the lobby. Interesting motif (as with all Kimpton Hotels), artsy, featuring Moonico the dairy cow. Outstanding restaurant, Penzano, Italian, very good wine list...friendly staff and valet parki... Read more
