Over a weekend this past September, my family and I, along with a couple of friends, went up to Summit County to view the fall colors. Over a weekend this past September, my family and I, along with a couple of friends, went up to Summit County to view the fall colors. We also wanted to spend the night so, we decided to stay at the Hampton Inn in Silverthorne. The Hampton Inn is one of many hotel chains found in the United States and abroad. We‚??ve stayed there once before, last summer, and thought of staying there again. Based on both of my visits, I think that the Hampton Inn is a good value and a great place to stay in Summit County. This time, I have evaluated our stay at Hampton Inn based on three criteria: amenities and customer service, dining options in the hotel and nearby, and activities in Silverthorne and the surrounding area.
First of all, the Hampton Inn has many amenities to make people‚??s stay enjoyable and hassle-free. The entrance of the hotel is very comfortable along with the design of the main lobby with its sofas, chairs and complimentary refreshments. The amenities available are the swimming pool, office with two computers and a printer, fitness room, laundry, free basic and premium Wi-Fi, free breakfast, treat shop, and meeting rooms. The hotel is also dog friendly, for a cost of fifty dollars per night. The rooms usually have either a king size or two queen-size beds and a flat-screen LG television with DIRECTV. The beds have clean pillows and sheets and are very comfortable. There‚??s also a bathroom with fresh, new supplies, and a coffee maker located below the television. Employees are always available at the front desk if you need assistance. In fact, they gave us an upgrade on our room which was on the top floor with a mountain view. The employee helping us was busy at first, but gave us the promotion anyways. Some may think that this hotel isn't nice enough because it's a chain. However, though there are other hotels in the area, there aren't many that serve complimentary breakfast or are pet friendly. Some may also think that the cost is too expensive for a family of four. We booked our room for about 160 dollars, which is cheap for most hotels in the area. For these reasons, I would rate the amenities and customer service as excellent for this hotel. After check-in, the next thing on our minds was getting something to eat.
There are many dining options in and around the Hampton Inn. The hotel serves complimentary, continental breakfast including coffee in the lobby all day, eggs, sausage, Belgian waffles, bagels, milk, orange juice, assorted fresh fruit, cereal, French toast, and yogurt. Guests eat in a nicely furnished dining room. There's also the hotel‚??s treat shop which sells snacks like chips, ice cream, soup, cookies and other quick foods. Some may choose not to stay at this hotel because it doesn‚??t have an in-house restaurant like a fancier, larger hotel would have. However, this is just a three-star hotel so one can‚??t expect this hotel to have one. There are a number of restaurants within a mile of the hotel, if you‚??d like to eat breakfast out. There‚??s also the nearby towns of Breckenridge, Frisco, and Dillon. Some of the restaurant choices around the area include Red Mountain Grill, Dillon Dam Brewery, Breckenridge Brewery, Old Chicago, and various fast food restaurants. You can find very unique food and drinks at some of these places. The variety of dining options in the area are sure to satisfy any taste. Over dinner, we discussed the next day‚??s activities.
There are many year-round activities to do in Silverthorne and Summit County. Of course, there‚??s shopping at the Outlets of Silverthorne, which is a year-round activity for the family. They have a number of popular stores like Nike, Columbia, Coach and many more. A few of the summer activities are fly-fishing, hiking, biking, swimming and watersports on Lake Dillon. Some of the winter activities available are skiing and snowboarding at one of the many nearby ski resorts, skating, hockey, snowshoeing and ice-fishing. One place that I recommend is the Frisco Nordic Center and Adventure Park where you and your family can go and either snowshoe or cross-country ski. There is so much fun to do with your family and friends around the hotel, no one will be left bored.
Based on my criteria and our experience, we had a great stay at the Hampton Inn in Silverthorne. They provided us with great amenities and outstanding customer service. The surrounding area has a cornucopia of dining option and an endless list of activities to participate in. While everything wasn‚??t one-hundred percent or perfect, it still deserves an A+ rating. If you are looking for an affordable, clean, and nice place to stay in Summit County, I would highly recommend the Hampton Inn. It would be a great place for you to stay alone or, with your family and friends.
