We stayed at the Sunset Tower again - this is our 4th time and we love this romantic, beautiful and historic hotel. The service is impeccable (I particularly enjoyed the 6pm cookies delivered to the room!) and the staff are both welcoming and interested in their guests. The Tower Bar serves a wonderful Bellini and it was lovely to see Dimitri, the maitre d, for a smile and a chat. The small gym has great machines to work off that fantastic dinner the night before. Having chosen to stay here because of the genuine affection with which past guests spoke of the hotel - sunset cocktails on the terrace bar, good old fashioned service, I can only say that somebody has taken their eye off the ball. Reception staff cluster about gossiping and eye one resentfully when you dare to ask them anything. It took 30min to get a menu at breakfast. The rooms are tiny and cheaply furnished and it is a struggle to open the cupboard because of the extruding spring hinge on t... Read more

We stayed at the Sunset Tower Hotel for one night and loved every second of it. Our room was a junior suite and it was very spacious and super clean with great views. We loved the fresh baked cookies left during the turn down service. Everyone working at the hotel was very attentive and very kind. The customer service was excellent in every aspect. We had dinner at the restaurant, The Tower Bar, and again the service couldn't have been any better. The views by the pool are so beautiful and relax... Read more

Wonderful welcome checking in to the Sunset Tower Hotel with an upgrade to the Penthouse! I've stayed often at the hotel in the past for work, so what a treat to spend time with friends there for weekend and be welcomed back so wonderfully. All the staff were pleasant... Zee, Ester and Christian were amazing. Love LA. Thanks for the amazing stay!

My husband and I got married at the Sunset Tower Hotel when it was named the Argyle Hotel. We came back to celebrate our 15th anniversary. The exterior, due to its landmark status, is still preserved and looks exactly the same, however the interior has all been updated, but still retains the old Hollywood charm. The service was excellent from valet, to check in, to dinner, and breakfast. (Christian was especially accommodating). The meals are served in a dining room that has multiple sections, w... Read more

Maybe there is a better/better run hotel in the US, but I doubt it. Celebrated our 30th Anniversay there. Just a perfect experience. Staff was enthusiastically helpful. Thanks Christian at the front desk and Hiro out front. So many little details done so well. Amazing breakfast (included) with the most amazing view of downtown LA over the pool. I am not one to write a review let alone a negative one, but my stay at the Sunset Tower has been so unpleasant thus far I felt compelled to express. After flying for 6 hours we arrived at our hotel and were shown are room. The room we entered is dated and dingy. It is covered with dings and un-repaired scratches. There are very visible paint cover ups on the walls. Our room is the smallest hotel room I have ever been in, ever! And I have stayed all over the world. My girlfriend suffers from cl... Read more

Although our standard room was tiny for two people we appreciated the fluffy robes, slippers, nespresso machine and kiehls products. Breakfast by the pool warmed by heat lamps as well as scenic la views is not to be missed. Can't wait to return

As the photos show this is a beautiful Art Deco hotel, sitting on Sun Set Strip in West Hollywood. We only stayed two nights and it was delightful. My first time staying in Hollywood and I don't think there is a nicer hotel. The service is first class, position excellent, the room was good, not brilliant, hence 4 stars. Maybe it's me but for the price I was expecting a better room! There is a pool up on the high floor which has great views over Hollywood. The turn down service is great particu... Read more

Coffee by the pool in the morning was the best coffee/view combo I have ever had. The architecture, the view from the pool terrace, the rich Hollywood history, excellent service from staff clearly used to accomodating demanding guests -- there's a lot to like about the Sunset Tower. And yet we never quite felt comfortable during our recent stay -- it's such a "scene" -- especially the restaurant (which is a "seen and be seen scene," if you will, more than a place to eat and enjoy a meal). It felt like an excellent hotel for some other travelers.
